Ive owned and used this app for years and it only gets better as the updates continue As a former gym rat I was very skeptical that this workout would meet my needs Not only is the program excellent but I can do it anywhere and at a moments notice I quit my gym membership of 15 years and have been relying on Body Weight and jogging to keep fit The inapp purchases are not necessary but all are excellent At this price you cant lose                 Best 3 Ive Ever Spent

This app is the perfect companion to the book or as a standalone tool to get into the best performing shape of your life I worked out of the book for many months before purchasing the app I really like having the warmup and cooldown the app includes and could tell how tight I was getting without doing stretching as part of my workout regimen I cant recommend this program and this app enough to anybody whos interested in having a work out that they can take with them wherever they go                 Great workout wherever you are

Update a year later still loving the workouts DH and I are working it every other day with customized sets Its a great program Original Im just into week 2 of the 10 week program Its amazingly easy to follow and at my own pace I was sooo sore after the first couple of workouts but in that good kind of way Just 36 minutes every other day is easy to fit into my schedule The only reason I deducted one star is because I dont have a sturdy table tall enough for the pull ups I have to rig another solution using a board in the garage Still Im very excited about continuing with the program              Love the Ladders
Agree with the previous poster Lord Mardar that the routines could use some polish At the very start of the Beginner Program for example the user is asked to do pushups at a fast steady pace for six sets of thirty seconds each separated by thirty second rests Even though the hands are meant to be on a kneehigh surface video shows a chair I think this is a pretty demanding FIRST exercise for a beginner The rests could be 60 seconds against 30 seconds of effort and perhaps two fewer sets Similarly in one of the leg workouts the routine indicates a squat slow 2 second hold but the spoken instructions again call for a fast steady pace which makes no sense The videos are great the range of movements exercises impressive but this app has long needed more attention to timing and the actual difficulty of the reps requested and rests provided in its routines to really quality as a trusted workout guide Yes you can always vary the instructions to suit your level but if you are paying attention to what its asking you to do it often feels careless If it were a human trainer I would not book him past the initial sessions           Routines could use refinement
Ive been using this app for quite awhile and was excited to see the login feature which would make it possible to sync progress across devices Unfortunately while logging in works fine on my iPad the same process crashes the app on my iPhone every single time              Great app but has login bug
Let me begin by saying Mark Laurens book You Are Your Own Gym is a fantastic place to start mastering your own body weight Ive used the exercises therein for the last two months to drop a few pounds and more importantly increase my overall energy level and strength I was delighted to find this app which demonstrates the exercises and varying degrees of difficulty The Exercises half of the app is perfect with videos and explanations of every exercise in the YAYOG book The Workout part of the app still seems a little buggyfor example I couldnt save a favorite workout from the workout builder and while doing a workout the green tick marks appear to be incorrectly indicating what Ive completed If I pause a workout the restart set button doesnt appear to reset the time These are of course minor issues that Im sure will be fixed in a later release and the prepared workouts are excellent Four stars              Potentially great

This app is great stand alone or as companion to the book Ive been doing the book programs for almost two years tracking my progress analog and keeping time on my phone Been using the app for three weeks and wished I switched sooner Would like for Mark to add an update with his special forces run improvement plan The military just cant live without a long run to nowhere                 Fantastic App Program

Im reasonably fit but I hate the gym Id rather be outside in the open air or doing a fitness regime at home The YAYOG book and app was my answer and ticked all the boxes for me Ive been doing it for 4 weeks now and have lost loads of weight but in return I have gained balance stamina and power in muscles I never knew I had I love the daily challenge variety but most of all it has put me completely in touch with my own body as a whole I have to say as well the EFX stretching is amazing                 Simply the best
This is the first time I have exercised in a long time Being unfamiliar with what exactly to do this app is a really great guide Plus it is made so that you do not need any special equipment and all the exercises can be done at home In fact with this you can forget about needing a personal trainer I would recommend the book You Are Your Own Gym to go along with this app                 Great program

The YAYOG book was great for me so I was happy to see this app But unlike the book the app seems a bit of an afterthought peppered with oversights and inconsistencies Eg ladders cap at four reps with no option to customize Or The push criterion for readiness for the master program is to perform eight onearmed pushups each side against a midthigh platform Then the first exercise in the master program is to perform FOUR sets on each side of TWELVE onearmed pushups against a KNEEHIGH platform Quite a jump from testing in to the very first exercise Or The apps description of timed sets says to exercise for fortyfive seconds then rest for fortyfive seconds while the exercise itself is timed to thirty and thirty But neither is enough time to perform the sets of twelve assisted pullups with a foursecond hold that the exercise prescribes even if the hold were the only motion in the rep As is Im not sure I can recommend the purchase To work around the apps problems it helps to have the book and to sometimes develop your own routines independent of the app and at that point what the app adds to the mix is negligible           Solid Basis Mediocre Execution

Last year I quit an 8 year habit of smoking and gained about 25 pounds Last month I decided to quit dipping after 13 years I knew I couldnt afford to gain more weight I decided to get my life back together So I got back on my Abs Power Diet Only this time I didnt want to shed 35 lbs of fat and 15 lbs of muscle in two months like I have in the past I wanted to retain and gain muscle while burning fat a little slower I wanted to work out but dont care for gyms I have too many excuses to pass on going to the gym So knowing that I found a home work out that is smart challenging and has me passionately recruiting friends to hop on board With the app they can do all the exercises I can with simple video clips anyone can follow 30 days in Im down 20 lbs but feel way stronger cant wait for the next 30                 This perfect combo to the book

A 10week body weight strengthening program for just 299 is a great deal Ive used it for 2 weeks now and I never feel lazy to do the workouts They are short and sweet which keep me coming Another thing I like is that the plan will change week to week which is important to me because I get bored easily when I know whats next In regards to the workout I can vouch for its effectiveness I recently completed Insanity and there are a lot of Plyometrics When I got to leg day on this App I cruised through it and felt like it was so easy Well the next day I was surprised that I felt more sore than I ever have doing Insanity The upper body exercises have been good too but I maybe a little more advanced then the level I selected but it is only the end of my second week and gradual increase in resistance is probably a good idea Overall I would say this is a well spent 299 Im not good at going to a gym and picking my own exercises so this works out perfect for me                 Good deal
For years I have been on and off with sports mainly due to traveling and a tight agenda Therefore swimming weightlifting and other sports were not good options With YAYOG I am able to exercise in 30 minutes and get the benefits of a long hour workout I can do this at home or in my hotel room While the book by Mark Lauren You Are Your Own Gym is not needed to use the app it is a good source to understand the science behind and deepen into the program                 Unique exercise app
I am a 59 y o disabled woman who did gymnastics in high school is a former runner and cyclist Currently I am a synchronized swimmer My disability is low stamina and chronic daily migraines I have repeated the first 2 weeks 3 times already and cant wait to get to the next level The app allows terrific flexibility of the routine and with a guided workout for only 299 how can you go wrong                 Awesome for every level
Without a doubt the best workout app on the market I used to believe that the only real way to workout was with heavy weights at the gym However due to an injury and a brutal travelwork schedule I hadnt been regularly to the gym in years and was seriously out of shape so when someone told me about this app I said sure why not To put it simply I am simply amazed by the results I have obtained using this app I started the the beginner guided program and by week 6 I started to see impressive results in my overall strength stamina and body tone I also couldnt believe how sore i was some days you know that good kinda sore that you get after a good weight workout The other thing that I noticed was that my posture is so much better I feel as I stand taller and stronger I am currently on week 24 and still going strong I am amazed at how motivated I am to keep with this program Its like having your personal trainer with you                 Best workout App ever
Last year I wanted to lose some weight and get into shape I started off in the gym but eventually was curious why there were so many machines and I did some research on bodyweight exercises and came across the book You are Your Own Gym by Mark Lauren The book made a lot of sense and the app pulls it altogether What I like most are the short video clips that show you how to do each exercise There are also variations for each exercise so you can make the workout easier or harder depending on your current ability If you have the ability to work consistently on your own this will save you a ton of cash over going to the gym Ive even introduce this to several of my friends                 Great app that works if you work it

I am finishing my first three weeks of the basic work out I wasnt that excited to start as Im a cardio junky but my husband who hates to workout got so excited and committed and had such great results that I decided to give up some cardio time and try At first I felt it was too easy for my legs and too hard on my arms If I could make one suggestion it would be to make some female options Im still struggling with the push ups and let me ups but did better on the let me ups finally Love the timer and the organized workouts even the quick work outs are great takes away my excuses Thanks for a great product                 MeiZhen

Started with quick workouts then moved to the 11 week program The program included rest days and the ability to swap out exercise It also tracks your history including reps for each exercise which makes goals easy to set I never realized how it would affect my workout to have a timer Before the app my workouts were sporadic and filled with downtime Now I quit the 12 week routine and I preplan my workouts using the workout builder The interface is clunky and glitchy and Ive deleted some of my work accidentally but I stick with it because its a great tool Now I plan my workout a day in advance by making small changes to my saved routines I save time by just clicking a workout and powering through in about 45 mins And Im exhausted from a good cardio workout The program has tons of exercises organized by progression                 I use it all the time
Disappointed the Body By You workout is not in this app and requires custom programming BBY book has been out for several years plenty of time to be added to this app Also crashes immediately as you press sign up or log in no way to know if you actually created an account and no way to save created workouts across devices Should have saved 3 and stuck to pen and paper     Sign up and log in crash app
This is the best fitness app Ive ever seen Its one of the first Ive used that feels truly lifechanging Having a militarygrade trainer in my pocket whenever I need him is worth well more than the price of this app It would be a value at 10x the price Also I appreciate Mark Laurens straight forward presentation style Its all substance no swagger Ive tried other programs cough P90X cough but all the douchey showmanship put me off I vastly prefer Marks no nonsense approach                 Thank You
