Saw a talk by Dr Devlin about this kind of game math built into the mechanics rather than a game whose narrative is unrelated to a presented series of textbook style problems Naturally I was excited to see this in the app store One general complaint before the tl dr I tutor and I would love to be able to have multiple kids playing it at different progress Would merrily put down 99 kid for additional save states past the main one This applies to most games and edu games in particular though tl dr This is great and fundamentally different from most other math skills games Get it and compare how your kids react vs other games that involve addition subtraction and multiplication at least That said there is a lot of room for improvement the next one from these guys should really break the mold this one only hints at the potential that was only hinted at in Dr Devlin s talk I ve played it through and Solid it s polished the graphics art is good and seems age appropriate and pleasantly gender and race neutral Didn t encounter any bugs or glitches The framework locked levels to progress through is familiar and intuitive The math is great This is a take on clock arithmetic 8pm 7 hours 3am not 15 which is simple enough to pick up in this context and not the usual arithmetic drill fare Especially for a first iteration of the concept this is a good choice Learnable by almost any age potentially challenging for almost anyone and will be useful in math classes as well Expectations I realize that some of the advances in integrating math into game okay aren t going to make it to the first public product this game meets the core idea of math being needed to solve a puzzle with no explicit math problems But I think it does a poor job in some other areas 1 Narrative Clearly spoilers someone has trapped the Wuzzits and we are getting them but no explanation storyline ties it together I suppose the advantage is that the player can imagine their own Nothing motivates progress other than that s what you do when presented with levels 2 Wuzzits They re cute and easy for the player to identify with eg not all boys or all girls or for that matter clearly either but too limited Free a treat and they are happy for a few seconds but then back to anxious They aren t reacting to the player s actions if they did it could for example be entertaining subtly hinting or both Are the Wuzzits aware of the mechanism Are they comparably smart to the player Are they sometimes surprised by a clever move So much possibility 3 Levels framework mechanics There are three labs and everything but the Wuzzits stay the same from one level to the next within a given lab It s a static background The Wuzzits celebrate being freed the same way every time to the same chime across all labs This kinda ties into the narrative issue The dials turn a little too slow with a little too much pause Flip side an undo button is sorely missing 4 Pacing complexity Possibly for the very youngest of children the pacing is appropriate I m not sure of even that It does get interesting but it takes a lot of levels to get there Maybe something adaptive or a dialog that pops up every five levels giving two or three options for the player to rate themselves I m getting it let s keep going vs I m ready for something trickier Sort of related until at least the third lab too many of the puzzles can be solved or can only be solved going in only one direction and or not crossing the 0 mark There s room for more variety there On the same track different size dials would be nice Get a method trick down then apply it in a new context with different divisibilities Probably mathematically that s equivalent to the different dial numbers but experientially it isn t Lastly these puzzles could probably be generated algorithmically including a difficulty level It d be nice if the final level unlocked an infinite stream of random puzzles or connected one to a unified online still unbounded set maybe with leaderboards etc These are fun even for me despite the critique and I d like to keep having new ones to play                 Solid but not up to expectations sk1776

Fun game                     Good game Swag256343
Nice game but disappointed at how poor the input controls are Turning the dials is confusing because they don t respond properly to touch It s a case where that one little broken feature creates a barrier to experiencing what is obviously a well crafted educational game                 Poor input controls Martholomeow
The look of the app is fantastic it s very clear and easy to use attractive even however it s boring and they are only going in one direction or the other you get to use little bit of skill in thinking about how many times you need to do this but because your finger needs to stay on the app the entire time if you mess up it s not something easily fixed so that s frustrating my son is six years old and he didn t find it exciting             Great Look Lacks Difficulty Ms.Mantrana
Great game makes me think and same for my kids Students will love it                     Wuzzit Eugene Fanatic
This app and the Wuzzit Trouble Math Junior app both truly earn the five stars the terms dynamic fun and effective pretty much sum them up I ve taught hundreds of students in math and each semester I ve got new math learners various ages and competency stages I refer my students to both apps and my students thank me because these apps provide them with a very solid addition to their toolkits Thank you on behalf of my students                     Excellent Math App EduPro

So far so much fun IamIfeoma
Look forward to upcoming revisions                 Fun initial stage Q2b2vv
I truly love the concept of this app The wuzzits are adorable The idea of multiplying to save the wuzzit in the least amount of moves is great My problem is when the negative turns are introduced this is teaching our kids that 6 x 2 equals 55 for example which isn t even a multiple of 6 This app would be much more valuable in terms of educating on multiples if there was an option to change the numbers on the lock without changing the positions of the keys or even change the directions the numbers are ascending and descending on the lock This would challenge kids to use the correct multiples thus preventing them from learning that 6 x 2 is 55     Great concept needs work to effectively teach multiples BeatlesGirl516
I enjoy this game It s good for working your mind                     Fun Nicole
This game is engaging for most players Multiple pathways and non threatening way to apply math concepts                 Great mathematical challenge Hollypope

I downloaded this app after a presentation by Keith Devlin on mathematical interfaces My experience seeing people waste away time on pointless games has been troubling but this game gives me hope for the future of education and gives me drive to pursue a career having the same impact as Devlin has                     Inspiring Nukez52

Great game makes me think and same for my kids Students will love it                 Wuzzit
My two cents as a professor who tries to raise knowledgable kids                 Great app for learning division and multiplication
Im a teacher and see the benefit to this being untimed while many other games out there are timed and therefore dont nurture thoughtful strategizing Even still number sense and fluency are developed when playing I got hooked for an hour I agree with the previous reviewer who found Invention room 23 impossible to achieve 3 stars an easy bug fix no doubt Thank you for creating this game and I cant wait to recommend it to my students this coming year                 Fluency and strategizing
I truly love the concept of this app The wuzzits are adorable The idea of multiplying to save the wuzzit in the least amount of moves is great My problem is when the negative turns are introducedthis is teaching our kids that 6 x 2 equals 55 for example which isnt even a multiple of 6 This app would be much more valuable in terms of educating on multiples if there was an option to change the numbers on the lock without changing the positions of the keys or even change the directions the numbers are ascending and descending on the lock This would challenge kids to use the correct multiples thus preventing them from learning that 6 x 2 is 55     Great concept needs work to effectively teach multiples
Awesome                 Credit analyst
This was a great game I found it to be challenging even as an adult but entertaining The only flaw was a small bug 23 in the Invention room was an unsolvable solution for the 3 stars rating Still this game is an amazing tool for teaching children math skills subconsciously while they are having fun                 Enjoyable way to learn math skills
It is soooo cool that I could faint Elisha 7 Problem solving puzzling fun                 Windup some awesomeness
Im a teacher and a math nerd and Im addicted to this game Id absolutely recommend to students looking to improve fluency with factors multiples and order of operations I dont feel like Im being tricked or bribed into doing math its an integral part of the game                 Fun with factors multiples order of ops
Look forward to upcoming revisions              Fun initial stage
