I like this app for the streaming of live programming but using it to stream non WNYC programming was frustrating I would open up the app and find no recent programs were available such as Marketplace WNYC needs to relaunch this and consider getting rid of some content offerings I gave up on this app strangle the cat

This is a terrific app for streaming WNYC live and for looking at their various materials The only thing it could use is better buffering support so that when you leave somewhere with a wifi connection you don t lose it once you re on data Otherwise fantastic Great app could use small fix Edward Ashton

Last two versions of this application completely fail every time Do not upgrade Updated January 29 2015 I uninstalled the application and then reinstalled and it works from time to time Still crashes 75 of the time but Im able to access the discoverabledownloaded content This application still needs a serious fix iPhone 6 Fail
A recent app upgrade will hopefully be tweaked to make it better Content wise WNYC delivers worldclass programming Lovin it more than any other radio app I have and Ive got plenty from east to west coast WNYC is awesome app is OK

What once was buggy is now cured Discover works great Now works on iOS 8
None of the individual shows work They crash immediately after selecting the show It works if you want to hear whats playing live on WNYC but there are other apps for that which work just as well So there is no point to download this app unless you want to hear previously recorded shows but the app crashes if you want to do that Only works when streaming On Air
This would be a great app but it rarely works Whenever iOS updates it takes a month or more for this app to work again When its working consistently you need to either stay on WiFi or always use 4G If you try to switch between WiFi and 4G you need to restart your phone to get the app to work again One would think that a 21st century application would be able to handle a 20th century technology But oh well When It Works Its Great
Love the discover feature as well as the ability to star favorite shows so they can be found easily without scrolling through a long list The saved audio makes podcasts obsolete Sometimes when using this via my phones Internet versus my home wifi it stops and starts the audio intermittently However this may be more of an issue with the connectivity with my phone Occasionally crashes Great app

The app loses my discover playlist after Ive downloaded and either closed the app or let my phone go to sleep When I come back to finish listening to a story on the list its very often gone and when I hit the back button I get the swirling icon that says finding some gems as if I hit the refresh button These days Im surprised when a playlist Ive downloaded is still there when I come back to the app This has been an issue through the last few updates Would be really great if you resolved it The discover feature is a great way to get through my daily commute underground Discover Feature still buggy

Will be a great app when they get it working It goes out and downloads a bunch of NPR type podcasts based on your preferences and how much time you have to listen daily You get exposure to all kinds of podcasts you may not know about BUT About 75 of the podcasts it downloads will cause the app to halt and close out It seems related to the podcasts themselves One might play and always play and another will consistently cause the app to close out Running iOS 802 ipad Air I will wait till Nov or Dec 2014 and see if things get better Would love it if it worked

The critical update I took today deleted my favorites Other than that the content is great At times though it seems that for some of the shows updated content is somewhat inconsistent I dont have any performance issues with the app Issue with critical update
Im glad to see Im not the only one who has had problems with this app I love wnyc and would love to listen everywhere all the time but the app makes this impossible I am always getting stuck on one show or one screen I just deleted and reinstalled it in hopes that somehow it will work a little better this time around Please genius app developers find a way to make this app work smoothly Disappointing app
When I create a playlist using Discover with the three News labels the playlist loads every time with no problem Books is a different issue At some point during the download process the app crashes When I try to reopen it the app prompts an error reporting message but will crash again This does not end until I erase the app and download it anew This is a shame because I raved about this app when it first featured the Discover feature and now it cant do one of its advertised features Books on Discover doesnt work
There are a few bugs in the air but recent updates seem to have patched many of them I think the stellar content deserves a high review There is nothing better than WNYC Content Over Bugs
I thought I was the only person experiencing these crashes but the reviews say differently WNYC is a great station but a real NPR fan should go with the NPR app instead Crashes
I deleted this before I got through even one podcast it paused every other minute for seemingly unknown reasons the pause bar was still visible so the podcast was ostensibly playing If I clicked pause and play sometimes it would restart other times if I clicked back to the menu then on the podcast again it would restart It made no sense and made for a terrible listening experience So choppy and awful
I am an avid listener of many WNYC shows and loved be able to easily find and download content on the app Unfortunately the app is full of bugs runs slowly crashes frequently and ended up being unusable Not worth the time or frustration Frustrating app
It sounds like a great idea but it has NEVER worked for me Anytime I initiate playback whether I have Internet connection or not it crashes Doesnt work

I love WNYC and have no trouble streaming it on PCs But the iPhone app has been a huge disappointment and source of frustration Constant dropouts and restarts mean Im constantly missing parts of stories and have taken to listening to podcast versions of WNYC programs where available instead How can it be that the premiere public radio station in the worlds greatest city can have such a buggy app Thats a question WNYC should be asking Five stars for WNYC content one star for WNYC app Terrible App for Great Station

I wake up to WNYC and I browse through the newsletter that s in my inbox every day Today the newsletter suggested bingeing on Serial which I have been meaning to get around to So I opened the WNYC app clicked on Shows and voila Network Error Try Again I recall seeing that message the last time I tried to look up a program through the app Guys go back to the drawing board and please dont come out until youve got a welldesigned and working app Ill wait Still needs work
Never have I had an app that has so many bugs and crashes so often And the most frustrating part is I love WNYC so much A really crappy app
I agree with the reviewer who said the app team should be fired Its time for people to write directly to Laura Walker to not just demand a working app Ill gladly accept one without bells and whistles but to threaten pulling their membership if it isnt fixed Theres no excuse for code this shoddy Unacceptable
