Really nice app Illustrations are just exceptional and the app is even better with the IBird Journal App So nice and use every day                 Coolest Most Functional Bird Guide Ever
I have just started using the bird guide with the journal I am comfortable with the way these systems have integrated they do make the process keying and journaling one sightings smooth Keep up the good work I would like to see the capability where ones journal on ones iPhone is automatically synced to their journal on there iPad Keeping synced together God bless                 Great Job
I am delighted with this It was exciting to finally be offered a birding ap that works well with my IPad Each time I reference it I am amazed at the ease of using it It is my go to guide for birds at this point Good work                 Outstanding
The Mitch Waite Group is a phenomenal group of creative and effective software developers for birding The iBird Pro and WGBA are joined together by the iBird Journal app Using your iPhone with iBird Pro in the field studying and learning from WGBA at home and using it in the field if you like taking your iPad in the field i find it to be too big but others dont with the ability to easily capturelist your sightings with iBird Journal What a great set of apps If I had three wishes that would top it all off they would be 1 be able to use the camera andor pictures to identify birds 2 Expand iBird Pro to Europe as well specifically France Belgium Germany 3 Expand Waites Guide to Birds of Europe or since Im wishing Waites Guide to Birds of the World They say always leave them wanting more and the quality and craftsmanship of these apps definitely leaves you wanting more Thanks for the great set of apps you have created                 Awesome set of Apps
So many cool features I have three other bird apps and this is by far the best Get the full version its worth every penny                 Worth every penny
Ive owned iBird since it first came out and use it on my iPhone while hiking But iBird didnt take full advantage of the iPads much larger screen With Waites Guide which was designed specifically for iPads I can immerse myself in bird exploration and browsing and enjoy HD images and even zoom in for detailed examination I also love the Birds around me feature that narrows the browsing to birds in my geographical region using the iPads GPS If you love birds and have an iPad this is a perfect app for you You can check it out before unlocking the full database of birds A musthave app for bird lovers                 Musthave bird lovers app
The free app worked great so I bought the upgrade Nothing got upgraded no birds were unlocked My credit card says I was charged     Dont buy yet
Search based on color and shape narrows down to exactly the bird you see                 Great search capability
Easiest bird app to navigate Very intuitive with clear instructions for various features Best of the apps for navigation                 Great resource
This is a great app for identifying birds Not only do you get their descriptions in detail but I love it because you can hear the birds call This is very helpful for many times you cant see the bird for leaves and distance Its also full of information on so many birds its just fun o sit and read up on birds you have not seen but you can get them in your memory for later use Just a great app for your IPad for sure Thanks Nancy                 Great app
For those familiar with iBird Pro the new app Waites Guide to Birds of America is is like iBird Pro on steroids In my opinion all birders whether experienced or novice can benefit greatly from the Mitch Waite groups latest offering I advise that you do not hesitate in the slightest buy this app immediately Some reasons I like the appfirst it makes birding infinitely easier Youll only know how much easier after using the app for a day or so I downloaded it a day after returning from a monthlong trip out west I was able to solve all my mystery bird questions for the trip in less than an hour using the new search engine After using this app for the whole week I am astounded how easy it has become to use the iPad to gain new bird knowledge and research such things as bird ranges and comparative identifications of questionable sightings Many thanks to Mitch Waite and his group for this geniuslevel application I do have a few things I would like to see improved 1 High resolution illustrations and photos are TREMENDOUS The only problem I have is there are not enough high resolution photos 2 The number of juvenile images needs to be increased Wouldnt it have been nice to have this app and an iPad years ago Certainly What will the future hold when I fully understand the use of this app The prospects are limitless                 iBird Pro on Steroids
I liked the opening home page when I 1st opened it It is setup with 9 link tabs The only problem for me it is for the iPad and I would liked to have it on my phone for when I am in the field caring a scope and camera But when I get back to the car I start updating my list and photos                 Great format and easy to get around in
I got Sibleys and Ibird ProHonestly if i want to identify certain birds that are hard to identify i will use SibleysBcos Sibleys app are more details But for now i seldom use Sibleys anymore bcos Waites Guide to Birds of America are so details and the illustrations are amazing good I also use the app to store my lifers and photos too If the developer can make the FIELD MARKS compare with another FIELD MARKS of the bird side by side that will be PERFECT I highly recommend this app to birders and bird photographers From a Pro Photographer                 Highly recomended to birders and photographers
I own and regularly use iBird Pro and I regularly tell people about the great features of this program This app has some great features that make it well worth having especially for new birders learning birds and calls The new features in this program that really set it apart for me include the following 1 Field Mark you can now turn Field Marks on and off on the illustrations This was one of the only things that Waites iBird Pro did not provide that other apps and most printed guides do have This is absolutely great for new birders or those still trying to learn new birds Do you ever quit learning 2 Slideshows based on user defined lists You can make any number of lists Then you can run a Slideshow based on the birds in your list I am just starting to learn bird songs and this is exactly what I have been wanting I can make a short list of birds I want to learn and run a Slideshow to learn the images based on photos and learn the songscalls at the same time I think this will be extremely helpful for visiting a new area where I hope to see some new birds I can review the images and calls of just those birds I plan to listen to the Slideshow in the car while driving to a new area 3 Great images and look even better on iPad in high resolution 4 Better searching with the elimination feature No more searches with no results 5 Access to the User Forums I have learned more about bird identification from this forum than everything else combined and it is great to have access directly from my iPad There are a lot of features that you can read about But I think these features really make this app worth the cost for me Some have asked about the difference between this and iBird Pro and which to buy I know Waites group has a good description for this but in my mind if you are only gone to use an app for id in the field get iBird Pro If you are going to use the app for studying at home and have an iPad I recommend WGBA mainly for the above features I own both because I want the convenience of a great app on my iPhone and the better features available in WGBA on the iPad My only problem with the program is that I hope that iBird Pro will also get the upgrades including the Field Marks and the slideshows based on user lists I know many of the new features are not very applicable for the iPhone and there is a good reason for a separate iPad app but I would really like to see Field Marks and slideshows on the iBird Pro app                 A Great App made MUCH Better
This is absolutely the most wonderful birding app I have ever purchased                 Stunning
Its pictures search and overall use ability is better than the iBird Pro which is as it should be for a iPad specific app I also like the ability to create different favorites good for checklist purposes Weak points It has a means to link to Facebook but no option like the Audobon apps does to put in your own photo It only picks a stock drawing which is not what birders want to see when you post You have to hunt for the forums and a link to the iBird journal At first I thought they didnt exist Instead you have to actually select a bird before these menu items are available That makes sense for the journal but not for the forum where you dont know what bird it is Hence going to the forum Most of the shortcomings except for Facebook are minor I look forward to the next version and 5 stars Overall well done              Almost perfect
I just updated to ver 12 build 137 It appears some of the birds no longer have photos available For example the american goldfinch says no photos available Same for the yellow throated warbler no photos I believe those birds had photos in the previous version        Missing some photos
The search functions make it much easier for people like me that arent avid birders to figure out a bird I take my iPad to the field to help me when Im looking at a bird Fabulous app good work                 Great for new birders
This app was very good until the 12 update which removed many of the photos Unfortunately it has been nearly four months since then I would not recommend downloading this app until a fix arrives           App needs fixing
Nothing compares                 Perfect
I want to love this app but Ive only used it in Baja California and there are serious database problems Birds that are shown on Waites range maps as being common yearround Baja residents are not listed when Baja California is selected as my location The developer suggests I should make my own Baja checklist I find this solution completely unsatisfactory as I want to use the app to identify unknown birds I really want to use and love this app as there are so many features that are fabulous but until the database problems are cleaned up I dont feel I can use the app with confidence for identifying birds           Fabulous but Major problems with Baja birds
This is or was a terrific app At least it was the first time I upgraded Unfortunately when I restored the app after some nonrelated problems the fact that I had upgraded was lost Since I hadnt kept my receipt from Apple who saves receipts they had no recollection of my earlier upgrade Emails to the developer have so far produced no response I remain hopeful On the other hand I still believe in Tinkerbell        Upgrade fumble
Beautiful guide Very user friendly Have only been using a day now but I can already tell this will be a favorite Lots of details                 Awesome Bird Guide
I have iBird Pro on my phone and this program Waites Guide to Birds of America in my iPad I really like both programs Since the last upgrade of this app Waites like the other reviewers have stated a lot of the birds do not have photos This is weird as the same birds in iBird have the photos THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED Why have there been no new updates I can only give it two stars for now until this is fixed Otherwise I would rate rate Waits at five stars DONT BUY until you know this has been fixed        Photos Missing
Wonderful app got it mostly to identify hawks nesting in my yard but also using it for other bird info that I didnt know or that the kids want to know They like it as much as I do                 Waites Birds
Great app for birding enthusiasts It is very informative and packed full of very useful facts My only regret is that it is not available for my iPhone                 Great App
I am no expert in birds but I could identify so many of them with this app                 Very nice even for an amateur
Excellent reference for bird information of all kinds I have a good traditional library of bird references and this is right up there with the best I dont know what improvements are needed or anticipated but as Mitch Wait has practice on all his bird apps if any are needed they will be impressive                 Great Reference for Birds
I have had so much joy with this app I was able to call in song sparrows to my patio Five or six sparrows would zoom in right to us I wasnt sure if they were looking for a mate or looking for a battle Identifying the local bird songs has become quite a game for my daughter and myself We were able to name at least ten more species than before Even my caged Parrotlet enjoys the app He is prompted to sing with some of the bird recordings By What Joy                 What Joy
Ive only been birding seriously for about a year now but this app has been amazingly useful to me I started learning birds for a few months before I got my iPad but this app definitely sped up the process and is especially handy for learning songs which Ive found to be the most challenging aspect of birding I had a Redbellied woodpecker practically start divebombing me when I played its call while watching some birds at a feeder in a wilderness park Dont worry I dont do that habitually Curiosity got the better of me I recommend this app to everyone with an iPad even casual backyard feeder watchers Totally worth the 20 I paid and would have been worth the whole 50 price tag too                 Perfect for a relatively new birder like myself
What an iPad bird guide should be Photos range maps recordings illustrations and a great search mechanism Can add your own photos and notes                 Amazing bird guide
Great app enjoy using it when in the field                 Awesome app
I have used several of the iBird apps since I got my first iPhone but the latest Waite app blows them all away I find I am using the app more since there is so much capability and love adding my own pictures This version is so much easier to browse especially since it was written for the iPad Great job and keep the upgrades and new functionality coming                 Keeps getting better
Waites Guide is the be all end all app for bird identification Finally it is easy to identify the bird in the bush all you need is a good look at it then enter the characteristics that you noticed into the app It will narrow the choices down to the few that match and allow you to nail the ID Another plus are the illustrations that show different views such as overall profile closeup of distinct markings and bird in flight And high quality photos from professionals or contributors are top notch Also the new Birds Around Me feature seems to be a big plus helping to narrow possibilities for identification or even to give an incentive to go looking for a new bird that you have not seen in this season this location or ever Two minor things I would hope to see in near future versions better illustrationphoto coverage for females and immatures and if I browse by sorting Last First then go to home screen then back to browse the sort order should remain the same not revert to First Last Thanks Mitch Waite and the gang the Waite for the perfect bird app is over                 No competition
Ever wondered what would happen if someone could combine the reference information of a field guide with the visuals of a coffee tabletype art book This app has pulled it off Its both a learning tool and a work of art A few highlights overlays so you can either view the field marks or turn them off and enjoy the unobstructed beauty of the illustrations a highly customizable slide show feature allowing you to select individual birdsvocalizations for learning or review and connectivity to a list app called iBird Journal There are some nice elements of the interface I like for example how the species name appears momentarily at the bottom of the fullscreen illustrations and then fades away Once again youre left with the uncluttered view of a beautiful image This might not seem like a big deal to everyone but to me its another sign of the care the developers put into showcasing their extraordinary visuals I havent used iBird Journal so I cant comment about how that works But the interface of this app is elegant the illustrations and photos are dropdead beautiful and the amount of text information is substantial for a field guide and just right for a tablet With the slide show feature its hard to imagine a field guide app that could make learning more enjoyable You may still leave your iPad at home when youre out in the field But once youre back home again in a comfortable chair youll have a hard time putting this one down                 A Beautiful Field Guide
This is the first iPad app I have bought specifically for birding and I am blown away The use of GPS to filter out the most common birds likely to be around me is brilliant and the search system works very well Ive been able to identify several birds in my yard that had me stumped for the last year including the Bushtit Chestnutback Chickadee and Darkeyed Junco gray headed variety Oh one more thingthe field marks are an outstanding addition If I could make a suggestion I would really like to see more female photos and illustrations You have one artist I dont know his name but his work goes far beyond anything I have seen in a field guide including the epic and expensive National Geographic Folio Edition                 Everything I want and more
Amazing and fun app for enhancing the enjoyment of birding If only the iPad had a daytime screen I enjoy the depth of information and the links for even more One of the ways I show off the iPad and how it CAN replace traditional sources of information retrieval and serious study of a subject                 iBird uBird weBird
Best birding app Ive used on my iPad                 Awesome
The thumbnails are helpful but even common birds are locked in the lite version You cant find much about the birds as a result     Not much to see
This app is great for studying birds on an iPad but the fact that it cant operate on an iPod or iPhone needs to be fixed immediately It simply is an atrocity Also it could be useful to include drawings of the bird in flight on their own screen        Pretty good but one major problem
