Virtual ANS is a software simulator of the unique Russian synthesizer ANS - photoelectronic microtonal/spectral musical instrument created by Russian engineer Evgeny Murzin from 1938 to 1958. The instrument was used by Stanislav Kreichi, Alfred Schnittke, ...
Fascinating and incredible sound making tool This is a perfect application for the iPad device and the interface and the noises you can coax from this are inspiring                 Brainmeltingly good
This is an amazingly useful and intuitively controlled recreation of the ANS synthesizer Im very happy and thankful of the creator of this as access to this synthesizer would be nexttoimpossible for me If youre interested in synthesis and especially experimental and esoteric synthesis buy this app Or download the PC version                 Amazing recreation
I have been impressed with this developers previous projects but this one in my opinion trumps them all I appreciate the level of intuitiveness that I experience as I sculpt sound and I do have to say when done right is absolutely unlike anything I have heard before from my iPad It is a great expressive canvas of sound You can be as harsh or as subtle as you like or both This has quickly become one of my favorite sound apps For the level of creativity you are given the admission price is more than worth it Your ears deserve it                 Excellent App
After a bit of messin around this is really cool Must buy if you are into synths                 Awesome
The experimental soundscape app Ive been waiting for So deepshould keep one busy for a while                 Fantastic
Take some time with this if you want some cool sounds This is not middle of the road GB fan boy sounds                 Put on your space helmet
Or maybe thats the other way around Either way its on its way to Awesome              MetaSynth for iOS
This could be so much more cool and powerful if it had image and audio import n export As it is it came as a huge disappointment to me because its coolness and usefulness is lamed down by the file management issues     Needs a Lot More Work
As a fan of early electromechanicalopticalmagnetictube sound synthesis technology I love the concept of the ANS 172 octave spinning sine wave discs and its parallel with Laurence Hammonds tonewheel organs And now to have this graphical sound shaping at our fingertips on a portable devicewhat a time we live in A winner all the way Cant wait to import jpegs and hear how my photos sound                 Tone wheels on steroids
I think the other reviewers may have some experience with the original It is entirely unclear how to import a photo to use or even to draw I have worked with the app for a very long time     Actually quite unintuitive
Virtual ANS no longer is compatible with Audiobus on iOS 802 I dropped my rating from 5 stars to 2        No longer supports Audiobus
This app is awesome for sound design and manipulation Im using it for my production Totally cool Highly recommend                 Holy Smokes Rad sound design app
This app is a great implementation of the historical ANS synth but it is also a fun way to play in the frequency domain something that can be quite difficult to reason about It also has its own unique spectral sound Love it                 Great for learning playing and creating
If you know and like Metasynth and Sunvox you will love this                 Fantastic
The possibilities are endless great app                 Sonic playground
Thought I had a problem opening V21 but I just rebooted my iPads and Virtual ANS now opens Sorry for the false alarm didnt think Alexander would let that slip through the cracks                 Nevermind
And still just scratching the surface of what it can do              Ive had it for some time now
My name is Jordan Rudess and I pronounce this app as top notch wizardry Wow Just wow Jordan                 This is wizardry
Excellent sound quality unique approach and old school charm This is a great ap The only thing that caused me to give it less than 5 stars is the nonstandard interface which appears to be derived from the fact that this is a generic program available in several operating systems as opposed to having been created exclusively for the ios I have the program on my mac but the iPad version is better to work with Look up the details on the historic ANS instrument to get where this ap is coming from Its very interesting and reveals the aps old school inspiration The ap is worth every penny but its not for pop devas or those who want to produce yet another rap with the usual boring formulaic 44 synchopated backbeat drum track at 120 bpm This goes a totally different way              Old School Soundzzz
Very cool                 The Concept of Zero APPROVES
i loved metasynth and in fact thats why i still have a g3 pismo this synth is based on the same original ans synth many options and plenty of parameters to play and tweak i am so grateful for this app it brings this type of synthesis into the future thank you another amazing jobonly missing option is non wifi import of jpeg this ap is essential for ambient and experimental sounds and music                 amazing synthdeveloper
Is the dev familiar with iris by izotope A magic wand select tool for erase would be a very useful toolthis thing is very close to something really great              A few more little things and this is Superbad
Every time I think Im finally done with purchasing sound apps Alex Zolotov comes along and releases something new This one though is just ridiculous This is the Grand Master of sonic alchemy Its the kind of thing that was burned at the stake during the Middle Ages Virtual Ans makes Gallileo look like Snookie It wraps Chuck Norriss roundhouse kick in an acoustimagnetic envelope and vibrates his knee joint to dust with low frequency undulations This app dunked over Michael Jordan Mount Everest want to take an expedition to climb Virtual Ans and other dumb hyperbole This might be the most phenomenally creative and inspiring app on the market right now Im not joking Just brilliant                 Here just take my wallet
Really a cool idea and a unique way of creating ambient and drone sounds The concept seems pretty straight forward but if you dig into it theres a lot of depth Plenty of room for generating different types of soundscapes                 Great for ambient and drone sounds
I must agree with Mr Rudess This is a standout in music synthesis visualization This can pull you in like a new favorite synth always seems to do                 Absinthe minded me
Also enjoyed just being thrown in and to figure it out as you go along its enchanting and superb                 Two seconds in
A nice app for using sound to create complex atmospheric sounds The user interface takes some getting used to if you havent used any of the developers apps before It would be nice to be able to import files into the app via open in or copy and paste within the app from other apps The web browser wifi file transfer does work well though and you can use it to create a file structure within the app for your creations and source material Hopefully the developer will have a manual soon There are already quite a few videos that give you a sense of what you can do Be prepared to click and slide on the controls in the app to discover what it can do If youre not comfortable with doing this it could be a frustrating app for you              Use Visuals to Create Sound Import Fcn Needs Work
Virtual ANS is one of the deepest synthesizers to come to iOS in my opinion This synth can create atmospheric sounds worthy of a scifihorror major box office movie or action video game release It is that good Visiting the website to view the video tutorials is a must as this synth is very complex to the uninitiated Once understood you will be amazed at the broad soundscape available For example you can manipulate recorded audio like a painter transform pictures into sound or reverse selected portions or the entire soundscape The sonic manipulation power is immense similar to the original Kudos to the developer for bringing a college university quality modular synth system to the IPhone                 Deep as an Ocean
This is the best audio app I have ever seen                 Crazy
This app is fairly feature poor on the iPhone I havent tried it elsewhere but even a simple task as trying to import an image is not simple at all The app should have a way to access your photo library Also theres no way to draw straight lines with just the iPhone So all your sounds come out like a AM radio trying to find a station Thats cool but that pretty much it Bottom line this wasnt really designed for the iPhone and it should be made more clear before 599 is dropped        I wouldnt buy it again
Doesnt like 441 but otherwise a really awesome app                 Really fun
Great app amazing sounds and interesting interface If you like the home computer version this is a handy mobile tool that lends itself naturally to the touch screen interface                 Great App
Its like entering the mind of Leonardo or Salvador Dali and learning a new kind of logic and musical inspirationsabstract landscapesa d sounds from another dimension emerge and morph into stellar compositions that allow you to feel as you were working hand in hand with the genius who developed this incredible musical experience                 We LOVE this app
Neat way to manipulate and visualize sound not quite as capable as pc programs like photosounder and metasynth but fun and an application that just begs for touchscreen Very impressed gets my 5 stars                 experimental
I like this app Pleasant Yes I like it                 This is as it is
Im old enough to Know what I always believed Its definitely Good vs Evil Dark against the Light out there here in the honor ov Logical Positivism Alexander is DefiantlyDefiantly One ov thee Lights                 ALEXANDER is BRILLIANT
Its not hard to lose hours making incredible soundscapes with this great developers newest IOS app Its is amazing and really really deep Also in my opinion it has a slight likeness to a very expensive software synth in its ability to shade and lightly draw in fading effervescent alien panorama like sounds Simply stunning Thank you Mr Z                 Otherworldly
Amazing app Perfect for sound design Intuitive interface                 worth every penny
Definitely interesting Lots of possibilities If you like the unusual buy this Color outside the lines P                 Woah
Im having a blast just trying things out Sound quality is good and the results are useful to me and may end up in a song Its fun knowing the history of this Soviet synth engine              Sci Fi Soundtracker
