Good but interface needs improvement           Review

I love this app for trail running I run in triangle area nc and this allows me to see trails for running plot the trails to determine distance and then use to navigate while running I run it while tracking my runs simultaneously with logyour run app that has a better training module Directions could be better but figured out how to sync with my phone without too much trouble Also lots of options and menus without easily accessible explantions              Awsome for trail runners

So far so good                 Good

Even without any service this app still maps out your route It has saved us on our horses in Colorado                 WOW

app violates your privacy by tracking you when not using the app     do not use

Great app I had some land surveyed and this app gps reassured me I was on the correct property enough so that I cleared a 2 mile trail around the property with a clearing saw and chainsaw                 Very useful

The only thing keeping this from being a great App is the crApple itself The limited battery life limits the true usefulness and capability of this great App Almost matched my buddys Garmin step for step over the weekend at a far better price              Decent substitute for a real GPS

Takes a bit to learn the app and configuration settings but overall is a great tool to layout hiking and skiing routes and review tracks Not sure why some reviewers complained about accuracy Seems reasonably accurate and consistent so far              scowsailor

I use this for hiking in areas with very little cell reception I just preload the map and i get a wonderful GPS on my iPhone Love it                 Hiking maps

Was accurate but a pain to deal with Not user friendly Worthless app cool to see my hike and time and elev but real confusing to do anything with it Not made for the US unless you buy the other one     Weak

I live in Columbia MD USA and this app maps all the foot paths                 Fantastic for the foot paths

Although in town and city it may work well When offroad or hiking using maps is a nitemare To bad the app has promise but lacks seriously in this regard Virtually no help resources        Confusing and difficult to use

No doubt this is the most completecomprehensive app for hiking and biking I have found Design your own interface including virtually any data you like Altitude based on GPS or taken from TOPO info Distance Time Speed current average moving maximum etc Destination information distance bearing time pointer etc compass display information using hard numbers graphs or dials Great maps ETC ETC ETC Really too many options to list This my go to app for hiking off trail You can use the ViewRanger web site to create a route sync with you iPhone and follow the route Or if you have a gpx file you can upload to the web site and sync with your iPhone to follow Many many options When you get back you can upload your hike and viewedit on the ViewRanger web site create a route and share with others Great user community Many routes available for free                 Most comprehensive app for hikingbiking

I use it for Florida hunting Having been lost on occasion I recently purchased this and am impressed There is only one major downside in minimum screen size is 08 miles When trying to locate a tree stand in the dark in a swamp the screen cramps everything together entry points turn points and tree stand So I cant give it a perfect              Almost perfect

I really appreciate this app I jut got back from a trip to Scotland I downloaded maps and it was a great help when we got to a city we were not familiar with We tracked our tour and made sure we could track back to the train station and hotel The programmers did a great job with this app Highly recommended                 Works in cities

I have only used it twice so far and its just ok A friend of mine has a free app that has more of the features and ride stats I hoped this had For instance fastest and slowest speed For the price i expected more bells and whistles This app only has avg speed I do like that you can take pictures to add to your map and I like the satellite photos           Its ok so far

Def liking it so far Hope to find a way to view map as Sat images and a way to share POIs              Thumbs up

I used this app every time I go trail riding on my horse we are in a new unfamiliar area and I us it to be able to track my trails see how far Ive gone and find my way back to the barn Seriously wish I had this app ten years ago Love how it has so many option weather you walk jog ski dog sled canoe or hot air balloon theirs a option for you Getting my friends to get the app to so we can use the buddy beacon You have to play around with it for a while to figure out all the options but once you get it you will use it all the time                 Love this app

Imported gpx files that I created in Global Mapper and followed the tracks on horseback in the Mississippi back country Surprisingly good signal and location accuracy in the woods Directional arrow somewhat inconsistent Comparable functionality to much pricier gps              Well designed and useful

Apps can offer to just monitor our location just when we are using the app Vr has opted to refuse that option Customer service gave me the run around I found another gps app that is great so bubeye     Gps always on Shifty

Just awful Terrible GUI Nothing worked and no trails could be found I couldnt even find well known landmarks Download MotionxGPS I just wasted 200     Bad

Horrible map app paid for credits downloaded a map of an area I plan to walk this weekend but you can not see anything You cant see the paths the starting points landmarks nothing other than what you get on Google Maps Rubbish and a huge waste of money So disappointed     Useless

Try too zoom in and find the elevation of a line and get nothing The topo lines are faint and can not even tell if your going up the hill or down cant read the numbers Im going out in the woods with no cell no wifi I got lost just trying to figure out how too use this app with the map     Too much missing

The maps are extremely outdated and decades old as big a joke has Apple maps are they are 10 times better than this app     Maps extremely outdated

This is the best app I have used for hiking and skiing so far Seriously It is extremely customizable but does require a little guessing and intuition to figure out how to customize track share etc After doing a few track recordings and exploring you can really make this whatever you want And dont worry this thing is well programmed so even if you think the track got overwritten or started over its probably in your tracks section in the organizer Pretty idiotproof is what Im saying That said a complete tutorial or helpguide for the app would be nice for a reference Web isnt always available so stored on the phone if possible                 Extremely robust and customizable

Used this app to map out a kayaking track on the New River and it worked beautifully The details was spectacular and even showed where our group docked off to swim Also used this to map out family hiking trails to create a great map Great app                 Great for kayaking and hiking

This is the best map I ever used A great guide for wildness hikers it has live GPS tracker recording                 Superb

Used it to navigate a 53 mile suburban route that was new to me California US Map location and realtime directions were very helpful Also nice to have offline maps for rides in areas with now data network Trying to figure out how best to configure for longer rides where directions would be helpful but leaving the screen onlit will drain the battery complicated further with stretches of road with no 3G4G maybe just use the offline maps gps location not navigation directions which require the screen to be on                 Great for road cycling

Cant recommend this app enough Ive tried them all Great UI Easy to navigate Accurate Just about ready to ditch garmin handheld Battery life great with iPhone 6                 Awesome

I use this app all the time for storing and displaying POIs while I travel The features I like most are the offline map access and ability to load my own POIs The resolution is not as good as online maps it couldnt be without making them too big for a mobile device              Great app for offline maps

I no longer have a need to use by Nexus 7 with Backcountry Navigator Pro I have been waiting for nonsubscription based access to these maps via my iPhone Love it                 Consumer

I have been using ViewRanger for a few months I am impressed with the GPS function especially the tracking option I have used it for backpacking hiking and kayaking Using the waypoints with the tracking also helps you see where youve been for later reference and trip planning I also used it in my car plugged in to my charger to track my trip from Pennsylvania to Virginia and it worked great                 Utility Purposed

This app has a ton of features and maybe so many they cant keep up with all the bugs The POIs worked great when I first got it then broke and now works again after an app restore           Wish it worked all the time

Use it hog hunting with dogs a lot saved me from getting lost many a night an mark all our catches                 Iphone

The user interface is maddening completely nonintuitive When it works it is great but it does have a few bugs that may or may not be corrected in the latest version I have had it refuse to work continually crash on occasion when there is no network connection It seems to help if you have it running before you go offgrid That may be fixed because it hasnt done it lately It also seems to have some variable limit on the amount of time it will record silently quits recording sometimes and on occasion it will completely lose your recorded track after you stop and try to save it Seems to be a poorly handled network comm thing Really needs some serious rewrite and hardcore software validation testing BottomLine Fun but you gotta take a paper map too if you are deep into the unknown           Good some bugs UI needs a complete overhaul

While good in theory this application is not accurate at all I am a military instructor and notices that the location in the UtM setting is WAY off When I compared the grid coordinates to my known location on a map the program was nearly 3 kilometers off from where I was That is a sure sign that it is totally unreliable        Not accurate

We have loved View Ranger on the Camino Easy to use and we dont get lost                 VR on the Camino del Norte

It is a verygood program Thank app developers and License holder                 all right and The best GPS program

With every update viewranger gets more confusing and more difficult to use It was good now its maddingly frustrating What was one click away is now hidden layers deep What was obvious now requires searchingbthe manual and asking for support Not useful in the field anymore        Getting more and more difficult to use
