App while in airplane mode to save data charges never worked It always said poor gps reception It would map virtual routes but would never find current location Even when left outside with app on and clear blue skies with no obstruction got nothing     Lost
This app proved invaluable in Crete but it did have some major flaws 1 The worst thing that this app did was try to send me the wrong way down one way roads Repeatedly It became a serious problem After going down the wrong way a couple times I got used to really looking before turning I dont know if this is the case for all of Greece but for Crete it did it to me in Chania Rethimno and Iraklio Yes the traffic flow of main roads is set correctly but in some areas it seems the smaller roads are incorrectly set up most of the smaller streets are one way and TomTom Greece has them mixed up At first I thought my GPS was off but its not The roads are wrong by name again not the main roads just the smaller city streets This really should be looked into If you pay my travel expenses I would be glad to go back and remap Chania for you 2 It needs a view only mode If it has one I could not find it There were times I knew where I was going but I still wanted the GPS show the road ahead Anyone whos driven the mountain roads in Crete understands what Im talking about When coming around a tight corner I like to hit the horn so anyone coming around the corner has time slow down and not knock me off a cliff I ended up having to plan a route each time so I would not have to hear turn around when able all the time 3 Some endpoints are off Going from Irakloin to Plakia tells you that you have reached your destination WAY before you are there About 18km off IIRC The route to Arkadi was confusing and Im not sure if I made a wrong turn or if the GPS was wrong TomTom Greece should have a better visual and audio indicator if a road is missed andor when recalculating 4 Could not find the museum in Iraklion or Knossos by searching for it POIs should be updated And searching for POIs should include alternate spellings or suggested spelling based on phonetic similarities For instance Chania is also spelled Hania Irakloin is also spelled Hiraklion and Iralkio Imbros Impros 5 Searching proved all but useless Roads are named incomplete or improperly On several occasions I had to get where I was going to mark it as a favorite to get back there again Abit of a PITA when Ive not been there yet as you can imagine It it work great as a get me to the general vicinity of my destination not sarcasm Again searching should include alternate spellings or suggested spelling based on phonetic similarities This app does have some serious flaw that really need to be addressed That said it was money well spent because it did make it possible to visit places that I would not have attempted going to without it My wife did play navigator as I had to spend allot time making sure I was going the right way etc I would not use this app alone in the car as it takes way too much attention off actually driving This can be deadly in Crete One feature suggestion Build a GPS transmitter app for the iPhone whos sole function is to grab GPS data and send it to an iPad tethered via bluetooth to a TomTom HD Greece or wherever app This way I can throw the iPhone on the dash and my navigator read wife can use an iPad as a GPS Hell do this and Ill buy TomTom USA also and whenever I travel Ill buy the map packs for there too even if I dont intend on driving You cant beat a huge iPad screen GPS on the iPhone Im sure someone will do this may as well be you If traveling to Greece I would recommend this app But I would lean on TomTom to fix the problems Ive outlined above and the tethering idea is genius so comment for that too           Need work but it did save my but
Used this App for Delphi Meteora Athens Crete Santorini and Milos This has gotten some tough reviews However TT was invaluable Wouldnt have been able to drive around Greece without TomTom The app was cheaper than a 1 week GPS nav rental from Avis We used this for everything including walking around town and getting back to our hotel Even drove around Santerini on our quad with one earbud and TomTom told me where to go without having to look at the map Some of the comments made by other posters are certainly true We were told to go down a one way street once However with common sense and attention to the road this was not a problem I went a different way and Tom Tom quickly rerouted the route bottom line was that TomTom MORE than pain for itself              Paid for itself
