Timeline World War 2 with Robert MacNeil

I recommend it to anyone who wants to have WW2 info at their fingertips                 This is very well done

This is an intensive app Almost a gig of media and interactive interface If your a war buff you lose yourself for days in the application Ive never seen something like this before Looking forward to additional wars                 Little pricey but worth it

This is a terrific app with stunning graphics and interactive features However it does feel like there is a heavy focus on the European theater of war Japan started their offense much earlier and important events like Nanking was omitted Millions of lives were lost in the Far East theater and it needs to treat the Asian front with equal attention              Good but could be better

The intellectual approach of this app is akin to making a story out of a bowl of marbles Each of the facts along the time line do not convey the trends and developments that the major nations experienced during WW II since it is not placed in any context Some of the photos are quite startling others are old chestnuts available in many books and websites The newsreel footage is helpful The biographies are shallow and too few in number It is weighted towards Western Europe All in all the app takes advantage of the technology but is deficient in terms of history If you are interested in WW II and want an overview you would be better off reading the recent WW 2 histories by either Antony Beevor or Max Hastings        Conceptually Inadequate

Someone posted that is is 35GBs well look to the left its under 1GB 743Mb to be precise I would love to have it self contained though even though I know the app would be huge i dont like having to rely on an internet connection to see a video im sure they can compress the video or scale it down a bit So developers please work on that im not and im sure a lot of people are not always near a wireless signal Anyway I LOVE this app the notations narration choosing to hear the narattor or the original is great videos pictures and the amility to really zoom in or swivel them I am very interested in WW2 and this is great for that very enjoyable I hope we get updates that incoude more content and not an in app purchase i never download anything that has in app anything so keep on doign the great work and give us new content via updates thanks                 Great app would recommend highly

If there is a search function I havent found it Would give it a higher rating if it were more detailed and if it had a search function The presentation and concept are excellent           Search Function

Seriously this app is so well done Only issue is that is crashes pretty regularly But not enough to really upset me              Awesome app

What an engaging an innovative way to share the history of WWII while showcasing the iPads capabilities I really like the embedded videos with narration and the photos I highly recommend this app for anyone even remotely interested in military history definitely worth the cost                 Well Done

I just started using this app and am loving it so far Would it be possible to have the app remember where you were on the timeline and your zoom level Another nice feature would be the ability to download all the videos to your device for offline viewing I look forward to digging through this app to get a better understanding of the war my grandfather fought in                 Loving it

Hours and hours of content Really interesting and well made app                 Worth the price

The app doesnt even mention Dragoon invasion of Southern France REALLY I would give it less but the rest is pretty good Needs to be updated That is a pretty major over site           Operation Dragoon

I love that this app was released not simply because it is wonderful in itself It truly sets the bar I cant wait to see apps like this in the future To me this kind of app is why an IPad is worth the investment It is just great I have only begun to explore it but I am enjoying it very much                 Wonderful

As a history buff Im loving all of this original newsreel footage I thought Id seen a lot of it but so much of this is new to me And the maps on this app are incredible I love being able to see the changing fronts movements of borders etc Easy to use but so much to see read watch it feels like an investment that Im going to want to share with my kids when theyre older Definitely recommended                 I love this app
