The Loop magazine will serve as an extension of my interests on The Loop Web site, which includes music, design, technology, games and Apple, among others. Each issue will feature a number of really great authors that I`ve ...
First magazine was good hopeful for the future                 Really great magazine
After enjoying The Loop blog for a couple of years I decided to take a look at The Loop Magazine last week and Im DELIGHTED The magazine is exceptionally well laid out very dynamic but very tastefully so The writing is just wonderful The stories arent too long or too short and explore their subjects with great care I particularly liked Jims cover story the article on color and Do You Write These stories are thoughtful and inspiring Exactly what I want from a digital magazine these days Thank you so much Jim                 I just recently subscribed I LOVE it
Ive been a subscriber of The Loop magazine since its launch and I have to say that it appears that I will be around for a very long time The important thing to understand is this isnt a magazine in the traditional sense What does that mean Well simple The Loop isnt a converted PDF plastered into an ereader viewable configuration In fact Id just say that its best experienced by the reader of the review Where The Loop earns its chops for me is within the articles themselves Each of the articles have been well written and the reader can capture what the intent of the article serves even if the article bears nothing of similarity to something the reader may normally read In short the reason I will stick around revolves around one simple fact the articles always add something to my reading experience Very much worth the subscription                 Why Ill be around a while
At first I thought this was gonna be like Marcos The Magazine in that it wasnt Marcos blog Glen has taken it eto fascinating new level But man was I wrong I kid you Not The Loop Magazine is a shameless Blog I mean it has ipad mini review as an article for cryin out loud Its just decorated with animations and pictures to give it a magazine like status I called it shameless cuz its just another revenue stream Content quality is okay I expected loop website to always be Apple Apple but mistakenly believed magazine would bring some alternative critical thinking WRONG AGAIN Some articles are okayish semi interesting The rest of em are Apple PR pieces     Its a a PR Blog
Alex Appleseed nailed it Read his review All these months later nothing has changed The Loop still consists of bloglike articles There was a time when people would pay for lightweight content because virtually all content required payment But nowadays you need to step up your game if you want people to pay Jim and his team need to develop a better editorial strategy than inviting his buddies many of whom dont have much of a CV in the journalism world to write whatever they want The publication not only needs more focus and probably working capital but also regular columns Whoever heard of a magazine with only feature articles Ill throw out one idea Anchor each issue with a true feature article about Apple Have a regular column that provides a littleknown iOS or OS X tip with a video analyze a classic rock song lyrics and music for people who dont know the process behind either maintain a list of best products in various categories a la The Wirecutter except Appleonly with new category and review added to each issue etc        Currently Its a Paid Blog
This magazine reboot is simply stunning It is a masterpiece I love the interactive feel and look of it It is a pleasure to read and the animations make me watch them again and again I hope all magazines take notice and step their game up Jim and the crew have turned Newstand Magazines on their heads and for that we will all be much better off                 Best digital Magazine
Its been 8 weeks since the last update which makes it hard to justify paying for a subscription        Hard to like with no updates
Ive been a subscriber since issue 1 because of the great content but this update has blown me away It is simply stunning I wish all of my newsstand apps looked and worked this good                 Blown away
This is the best                 Awesome magazine
Hi its not letting me download the latest issue It simply freezes up and takes me back to Issue 1 Thanks           Not downloading
I really love The Loop Magazine for its intellectual tech reporting with priceless downtoEarth insight Its my kind of reporting                 Its The Loop Need more
It is very flat or spartan but it looks nice and functions well Unfortunately the content isnt anywhere near where it should be Its not worth 199 I would love to see better content with that format              Nice app lousy content
This magazine is the finest example Ive seen yet of what a magazine can be in the Digital Age Both the design and the user experience are stunning The articles are very interesting too Overall reading and experiencing The Loop feels like a glorious indulgencelike having the opportunity to sit in a Lamborghini and then getting to drive it too Kudos to Jim Dalrymple and the development team for their originality creativity and outstanding design sense Highly recommended                 Fantastic and Unique
Awesome magazine Amazing app design as well                 Beautifully designed
I subscribed to this magazine from day one I enjoyed the articles very much and then I experienced the same you did no more updates Jim had the courage to explain he had something go wrong in his life and it affected his involvement with the magazine I like you cancelled my subscription cause nobody likes to pay for nothing However everyone has had a bad time in life and if you havent you will Now lets all give him another chance I have reinstated my subscription and I hope all is well Jim Welcome Back                 GREAT TO SEE YOU BACK
I gave it two stars instead of ZERO because I did enjoy reading it and the format is interesting but imperfect I would give it zero because I stuck by them for MONTHS with only ONE new issue A waste of money thats what this is        Theres nothing here
This may be the most pleasant and engaging article reading app Ive tried for iOS Silky smooth scrolling elegant interface gorgeous presentation Love it                 Gorgeous App Great Content
The magazine has a great collection of articles and I always look forward to each issue The content is interesting and well written This is definitely the future of periodicals in this new digital age The app itself is beautiful and the navigation is new and very easy to use I love the way it just flows from article to article there is no need to go back and select the next article just keep scrolling and it will go to the next one Overall fantastic content in an app that is just as fresh and interesting                 Fascinating Articles and Great Interface
I loved this when we actually got updates but now weve only gotten one update in the last 4 months while still paying for literally nothing monthly I gave it some time to see if it would update again but just cancelled my subscription today as Ive literally gotten nothing in return the last few months Not acceptable        Nice when it updated not anymore
No matter what I do it always shows a blue dot as if its new new issue So Newsstand always has a 1 in a red circle as if theres something I need to read Why Deleted     Always marked as New blue dot
Great magazine Im an avid reader of the loop For only 199 a month you can get access to amazing content well worth the money Keep it up Jim                 Great Magazine
Jim and the people he chooses to write for him provide great content ranging from very different topics A must have                 Great content
I enjoy having a magazine that doesnt try to copy the paper to the iPad Its a different medium with different strengths and weaknesses Scrolling between articles is a breeze Very few magazines on the iPad accomplish it and I like how it doesnt overwhelm my device with tons of very large files Regarding some comments about the articles this isnt the Economist with a large staff a much more expensive subscription AND ads For what I pay this is an excellent content AND experience                 Incredible UI and very smooth scrolling
While 2 per issue is a little steep for a magazine with just 45 short to midlength articles Ive generally enjoyed the innovative magazine format that looks good on my iPad mini and interesting alternative views However I stopped receiving the issues for 2 months while still get charged for the subscription And despite repeat emails to the customer support Ive received no response That is not acceptable for a paid subscription service     Ok magazine horrible customer service
Perhaps future articles will be different but so far Im left wondering Is this it Issue 1 has six articles and with the exception of a great piece on the balkanization of Mac gaming were left with nothing but a few short puff pieces Quality aside it just doesnt make a whole lot of sense charging people for this amount of content           Not much content
Simple beautiful and fast Not glorified PDFs like all the major publishers Give The Loop a read its great                 This is what digital magazines should be
3 months now I have received receipts for money pulled and have received nothing For a writer that posts a lot of really good articles and opinions if writing a review for his own app what would he say about the lack of new content and the still pulling money from subscribers accounts I wouldnt mind if articles were best of articles and links posted from the Blog but nothing at all Very surprised with Jim feels like hes taking fans for granted     Subscribe to pay for nothing
This is how magazines should be Not just scanned versions of the print but original great content Keep it up                 Best Newsstand Magazine
I heard about the new 20 version of the app and was anxious to try it I thought the original was perfect simple clean and easy reading The new version has proven to be a jarring disruptive and infuriating experience The pictures expand out in the middle of the reading experience when I didnt ask for them This interrupts the reading Words should draw you in and this serves to pull me out and disconnect me Difficult to navigateat least two times I mistakenly swiped right and it took me to the next article Awful implementation Im canceling my script until the navigation is brought under control The Magazine got this right Its a shame And this only gets three stars because the content is so great           Shouldve Left Well Enough Alone
Best magazine layout I have ever seen                 Beautiful Layout
I was a subscriber from the inaugural issue of The Loop Unfortunately I found that the writing simply wasnt up to par I have it a chance to improved but ultimately I unsubscribed several issues later Matthew Modines first contribution was the straw that broke the camels backtruly horrendous writing that should not have made it past a competent editor Perhaps they hoped the star power alone was a draw but we got Vision Quest not Full Metal Jacket So I have to say that it is not a good sign that Modine is once again featured in the Version 20 launch issue Still with the new look I wanted to give it a try I skipped the Modine article and headed straight for the reliable Jim Dalrymple I would like to say it was a good read but the motion effects are horrendous and a complete distraction from the reading process When scrolling through the text it periodically expands the embedded photos to make them full screenthereby interrupting your reading Look if I want a full screen view of the photo Ill click on it Dont force it on me Im busy trying to read It really is a frustrating experience Fortunately you can disable motion effects in the settings Great But how in the world could any sensible designer have believed that this effect was a valuable addition to a magazine app The first design was perfect for reading minimalist clean This new design gets in the way perhaps to distract you from the poor writing quality Mr Dalrymple excepted Not a good start folks Please Curate your writers better and dial back the default effects please The Loop web site is known for its straightforward design and enjoyable content Dont damage the brand further than you did with 10        Form over function
The articles are interesting but there is no depth I enjoyed the one magazine I purchased but based on the content I cannot see buying another           Superficial
Some people complain about the depth of the content yet for me its one of The Loop Magazines strong suits Articles are great for a quick read before sleeping or while waiting for somebody Short yet informative and tons of music meets tech articles which I love To the people complaining about the aug zoom in pictures just disable it                 Good content nice interface
What an amazing update to a app that was already great The interface is silky smooth and so dynamic You wont find another app in Newsstand like it and the content is always worth reading Wish I could give it six stars                 The best in Newsstand
Nice                 Rating
Great work Jim keep it up                 The beard is king
Love Jims blog and I love the long form articles of the magazine You have a loyal subscriber here                 Great
I have enjoyed Jims 1st edition of his new magazine Once the updates have been released it is a good app Keep up the good work Jim                 Enjoyed the articles
But I think its a bit unhealthy to read and write about it nonstop To its credit the app is really pretty though        I like Apple stuff too
Love the magazine if it still exists The App description says issues are published twice a month and it has been over two months since The Raven Master 53014 and nothing and no notification of problems or delays The blog seems to continue so the Loop in some form still exists but it is as if the magazine has been abandoned but they let it continue to charge credit cards until people finally give up and cancel Sad way to do business Hope this in in fact some oversight with a simple explanation     Paying for VaporWare
Kudos to Jim for being transparent with regard to the recent dearth of issues We all have challenges in life so Im here to support Jim The Loop going forward Im looking forward to the larger monthly issues                 Here to support Jim and The Loop
Lets all ooh aah at the pretty redone layout until it comes to actually using it The auto zooming of pictures and videos to full screen make it difficult to lay back and enjoy the reason for subscribing to The Loop the written content As to the content the addition of so many large pictures placed in the middle of what Im trying to read seems to be placed largely to make the short articles appear longer Isnt this typical of what middle school kids do to their reports I do find a couple of articles every so often that I enjoy just enough to fight with the terrible UI system I just wish there was an add to Instapaper button so I could better relax and enjoy reading        UI is terrible
What I read wasnt particularly critical        Bland but easy enough to use
The Loop Magazine presents incredibly interesting and insightful articles with a design that is second to none Great job guys                 A great app just got better
How do you archive articles for this magazine or delete issues I like this magazine but theres no way to do away with old issues and clear up space on my device Hope the next update can bring this option              Archive
Every 2 weeks a new collection of high quality is downloaded Not too many stories just enough to enjoy without feeling overwhelming or like a chore There are some great writers writing recurring or 1off stories in The Loop                 Good Biweekly Magazine
I really enjoyed issue 1 especially Jordan Rudess autobiographical essay on the progression of keyboards Im looking forward to the arrival of issue 2                 Great content Great design
Love it Fantastic form and very good articles Only thing I would work on is add a few more articles Not all of them have to be long some can be short and with good pictures I give it 5 stars because it is set up so well for a magazine and I have really enjoyed the articles                 Great
Not for everyone and that is why a 7 day trial is offered and recommended Good writing on topics that keep my interest Lovely on an iphone All authors have contact info at the bottom of each article for those such as myself whom wish to find further writings and recommends Thank you                 Tech and sounds Creativity and passion Yes please
Diverse thoughtful and entertaining essays brought together with a slick UI Nuff said                 Incredible UI Even Better Content
