I loved a dark room so I was so excited to play the second game Yuck They keep telling you dont give up maybe its because they know you want to I just quit not enough interest to hold me at all If this were a regular store Id demand my 99 back Booooo        Its no a dark room thats for sure so disappointing

Perhaps the biggest detractor from my enjoyment of this experience was the pretentiousness of the developer comments in red text when you start over It struck me as unnecessary and annoying The story of this game in addition to A Dark Room also carries the overly artsy tone of trying too hard I cant fault the developers too much but I only wish it used proper punctuation and took itself a little less seriously Its a fun little game to pick up and play for a bit though Despite the minimalistic graphics it kept me entertained              Enjoyable but pretentious

When my fiancée introduced me to ADR and this game I bought them both at once Tried ADR and left it alone for a few months Then I tried it again and got hooked Beat that and then moved on to this one Great prequel Made it to the end twice now and still preparing to go back and explore 100 of the world to see what else is out there I wouldnt call it something of biblical proportions but this game definitely challenges perceptions of the real world and how humans tend to perceive things from human eyes only                 Well Done

Updated I just beat the game again refusing the food after it was made harder finally got it after 20 deaths Love the changes and definitely a lot harder The secret at the end though the game CRASHED and I couldnt get back to the secret GRRRR Please email me the secret content Suggested strategy for harder version refusing food get contents of house H go to base S find location of tannery T get to tannery as directly as possible and at least a knife equipped go back to base and find location of iron mine I get a knife and iron or steel sword before going to mine go back to base and get location of armory R find a shop M clear houses and caves for loot get upgrades at shop then go to armory with some good weapons and bolases The rest of the game should be easy after that as long as you watch your vitals First review The Ensign is not at all like the Dark Room but the lore has satiated my hunger from where the first game left off and it has been equally addictive for me Dont get discouraged about the initial difficulty it gets easier the more you play 1 anytime your fist damage increases it stays increased 2 if you accept your admirals help good for the first game completion hell hand you a compass that directs you to the most important places 3 after you get so far hell hand you a Katana and your last equipment upgrade too upon restarts For all intents and purposes I really enjoyed this game though was pretty discouraged at first What I didnt like about it was 1 the narration messages upon restarts although mostly encouraging seemed out of place from the rest of the game 2 It doesnt seem to matter whether I do the humanitarian options when given the choice TutorialSpoiler dont read if youre like me and want to figure things out on your own the sites that increase your HP water and carry capacity are the Tannery T Iron Mine I and Armory R Focus on Food and maybe a Torch until you get the Tannery upgrade Then consider carrying a Knife and Iron Sword as well Each weapon you have you can use in battle This will be key to defeating your first normal HP defector which will begin appearing after your 2nd encounterdeath Teeth eyes and flesh can be traded for permanent melee damage vision and food HP bonuses respectively It costs 10 per stack and traded at the occultist shops M with an initial entrance fee of 5 food Pay attention to the sites that refill your water supply camp site S houses H caves C merchant shops M and beating a defector The caves can cost 12 torches The 1 torch path is middle then right Anytime your water replenishes your game is saved for taking breaks Recommended strategySpoiler Save as many human parts as possible get 45 vision trinkets to easily get all the map discovered then drop them off at your camp site S If being chased by a defector and close to a map edge you can teleport to the opposite edge by going past the border This is also useful for map discovery After vision trade forequip as many teeth trinkets as possible 10 for melee damage increase works for fists and melee weapons Once you have those all youll need is your fists a dagger a katana and a bolas if that to kill anything At higher fist damage levels I wouldnt even worry about lasers and rifles anymore Finally using alien alloy on your ship W is your beatingthegame criteria Once youve upgraded thrusters and haul hp to 10 each youll be a leaf on the wind Ive gotten it to 25 each and it has stayed the same You will always be shot downcant escape the planet but if youve gotten to leaf status you should get game beating credit Once you beat the game youll be presented with a few challenges to beat it better Plus audio is unlocked Good luck and most of all try to enjoy it                 Tough at first easier later

Incredible game Easily the most difficult yet one of the most satisfying games Ive played It feels nearly impossible at times and challenged really my resolve                 I Beat It After 1728 minutes

I played and beat the game a year ago and thought it was great The main reason I kept it was for the updates ADR had some updates that made it so much better and worth playing again The July 23 update was no let down If you have not played since then your missing out The game went from fun to impossible to some how I beat it Thanks for an awesome experience                 Possible

Theres a lot of things that difficulty is confused with Its confused with multiple tough enemies of the same type grouping up all the time its confused with an endless amount of random stage obstacles or just onslaughts of oneshot attacks The Ensign has none of those It is one of the hardest games on the App Store The difficulty of the game is one of a kind Balanced In the beginning youre introduced into an open world where you cant even take ten steps before you get dehydrated and die The more you die however the more youll end up learning youll figure out what all the symbols mean on the map how far that certain enemies will spawn how many houses youll find containing precious water and various other things Reaching the late game is satisfying Having enough food to survive attacks from thieves and taking their stuff is satisfying This entire game is a masterpiece The only downside would be how overall short it is with a normal time of about three hours of gameplay if youve never played A Dark Room which introduced the whole world map already Its a hell of a game and it doesnt even have models much less shiny graphics and explosions Buy this game You wont regret it                 A true difficult game at its finest

Fantastic game Certainly for people with time to put into it I absolutely love the game mechanic and story line For inspiration I might suggest a preprequel where you are not only a wanderer but you ARE the Admiral Maybe you would be exploring the wanderers home planet or on the ships or maybe even fighting in the war The one thing I would not like to see is another dusty path however I think 500 minutes of dusty paths is enough XD                 Fantastic but only for the dedicated

This is easily the most frustrating game you will play Death is inevitable but dont give up The story especially if youve played A Dark Room is worth the hours you put in Really pay attention to what you read What the world looks like I see a planet Earth knocked out of orbit growing dark The details you read the interactions with other game characters really add depth in a way you dont find in any other text game And when youre done play it once more because it changes for the better when you know whats coming I find myself randomly thinking about a scene in either game weeks later So download it If you can get through the torture it is worth every penny All 99 of them                 Not for the faint of heart

I loved the dark room and had a lot of fun beating this game as well but the audio at the end of both games struck me as narcissistic The storyline is so intricate and interesting I probably didnt even catch all of the cues that youre given It took me a full 4 hours to complete this game and I get very easily frustrated so it was not a walk in the park Im going to try to get the cake and beat it without the food now              Rewarding Yet Annoying
