Bottom Line: For more information about TF7 Synth check developer Pier Lim`s website : http://www.tenaciousfrog.com

Ideal for folks who want a user-friendly FM synthesizer to play music - No need for music theory - get started playing music right away by playing shapes - Comes with 20 high-quality free sounds - Morph pad ...
great app how it hasn t been abandoned would be awesome as an audio unit                 Needs to be an Audio unit now Strizbiz
Would be nice to see dropdowns for long lists tunings for example the simple glissando option for the keyboard along with whammy and vibrato a possibility to use symmetrical tuning for the virtual keyboard along with current two rows over octave                     Nice synt with a great virtual keyboard Dnchg
Several days ago I came across TF7 in the App Store Downloaded it I m running it on my 1G iPad Pro Restored my two purchases After experimenting after watching the extremely basic tutorial for a while moved TF7 to my iPads Synth folder Bought another expansion pack now I have the main ones 1 2 5 The app could use a more detailed tutorial The one critical feature TF7 is missing is note hold or note latching that allows toggling on off per note instead of the rather useless toggle all off at once type note holding With all the modulation and FX TF7 has tying ones hand to always playing limits your live play tweaking I gave the app two more stars It ll stay on my iPad now but more as a limited use FX device w o the note hold feature You can make tweak and modulate some real cool sounds with TF7 On my 4th Gen iPad if I change the sound quality from medium to either low or high the app freezes Deletion re installation makes no different Needless to say that I won t being paying to upgrade to Pro version                 Rediscovered TF7 Eriptron
Great sounding FM synth A genuine touch screen instrument as opposed to the usual virtual piano interface Never has there been an FM synth that is easier to program This developer is responsive to customer needs                     Great App ZenLizard
Just installed this and bought the pro pack and one expansion pack for a total outlay of about six dollars Not bad and I will be getting a lot of use out of it However just a few caveats The synth engine needs to include a mono function as right now we are limited to polyphonic so it s not practical for programming lead voices Also and I know this is minor the octave function needs to be independent of the voices purely for the midi keyboard input If you have an 88 key hardware synth you use for a midi keyboard this gets a little annoying and repetitive to keep resetting the octave to 0 Another thing that I have read in earlier reviews that doesn t seem to have been fixed yet is that the app does not remember the midi controller and has to be reconnected to it every time you open it Other than that I see a lot of potential for this nifty little app and I hope to see these additional functions implemented in the next update Do that and I will add one star to the rating Oh and one more thing even on the iPad Pro the upper registers seem to get a bit artifact y a minor complaint I know but still it should be addressed in a future update Thank you so much for this new synth                 Under rated but needs more basic features Sonic Bodhi
The sounds are good and the grid input system is very nice I would give a higher rating if I could use that grid to control other synths on my device Requests for MIDI output have been around for a long time and I m thinking that the app maker isn t motivated to add this feature for some reason             Please add MIDI output DBlaBla45
Great FM synth for iOS The additional operator IAP is well worth getting The full screen keypad layout is unique in the iOS music app world too and allos for easy chord changes Highly recommended                     Great FM synth MusicInclusive LLC
It s been very easy for me to use Two modulators and two carriers might be enough algorithm 6 but if I could have more control over my shapes and have more operators like in IL Sytrus that d be great Or at least make algorithms customizable Good app guys                     This gem is underrated S.M 5.0.4
I absolutely adore the grid style input method of this app I would love it even more if I could use it to control external gear Please for the children add MIDI out I d even pay for that feature                 Cool synth needs MIDI out GilesInDisguise
Sounds pretty good I don t have any of the IAPs because as far as I can tell it lacks response to midi PC and doesn t fit my workflow Fix that and I ll definitely buy the IAPs and maybe it ll be awesome             Good Dddduncan
Are u going to release an update that will work on an IPAD 4 w IOS 9 3 3     LATEST UPDATE WON T INSTALL ON MY IPAD 4 w IOS 9 3 3 Leicon7
I have no idea why anyone would make a synthesizer that doesn t even have a standard keyboard as an option Check out how Korg Gadget does the keyboard configuration for lots of turnings and keyboard layouts Also the way the GUI behaviors are designed It s not exactly natural The note button full screen expansion should not be a thing you accidentally trigger while looking for mod wheel expression for example         Not worth my time without standard keyboard dysamoria
Great sounds and a breeze to use                     Great Hydra vein
Excellent sounds and control The Arpeggiator is a little awkward to use since to find a pattern that I like I need to scroll all the patterns It would be better to have a list or a number to keep track of the patterns and to recall them             Excellent app please update Arpeggiator Nick45689143
As a piano organ synth player for over 4 decades playing clubs concerts studios I ve owned own literally almost every major hardware synth of each era I was at NAMM the year Yamaha introduced the DX7 and it was a game changer The main timbres we loved beside the brassy pads were those EP s ohhhh those EP s They ended up on tons of records and Peter Cetera records especially imortalized the sound on radio world wide We all just HAD to have a DX7 Fast forward to now and VST synths have pretty much replaced our aging broken and extinct synths for both studio and stage and now many of us are becoming more content with IOS ports of those VST s and other IOS synths and are spending less time behind our desktop DAW s and VST plugs So on to the TF7 it can recreate 4op sounds of the baby DX s of the day pretty well but even with the IAP expansion I still cant get that classic 6op DX7 EP sound I recorded with so much back in the 80 s If I could get that rich 6op EP in this or any other FM IOS app Id be a happy man Otherwise the TF7 wasnt a bad buy at all including the IAP s it still cost way less than the tax alone of my DX7 One request to the developer please add a traditional keyboard option                 Not bad but cloud700
There are plenty of iOS synths out there with FM capability like Thor Sunrizer Sunvox Cassini among others Not many FM only apps like this around like DXi FM4 but this is the only one that can be had with 6 operators instead of the usually 4 operator apps I have had this synth for a year now and I have enjoyed it a lot It is very easy to make new patches from the existing ones or starting from scratch Something that bothers me though is the way the synth reacts to staccato notes When playing long chords the volume stays steady but the moment you play staccato and then hold the chord the volume jumps up like there is a bump I tried it on several patches and it does the same thing The volume will go up momentarily                 Top of the heap for iOS FM synthesis C3l3$t1n0
This is really good synth app I purchased the Pro Pack add on and I love the sounds and capability However this app really and I mean REALLY needs a hold note button I play drums and synth at the same time I would love to drone this app with a hold button if it existed here It does on every other synth app I ve purchased and I ve read on forums that this has been requested for over a year so I doubt the update is coming Buyer be warned                     Killer app but Armweak13
This is by far the best FM synth to date even the add ons are totally worth it This one does require a little bit of extra time and attention to get satisfying results from but the end product is always exceptional Using this will expand understanding of FM synthesis thanks to the wonderfully transparent interface This developer has also been very responsive with addressing issues which is always a plus when the inevitable updates occur Excellent work keep it up                     long time favorite FM synth MuzikAppJunkie
Every once in a while you come across an app that makes you wonder why they don t charge more or in this case AT ALL TF7 is such an app Because it s free many serious musicians may overlook this little gem Even though it offers in app purchases it s not one that I d consider a freemium app because without the additional sounds it will still stand on its own though the add ins are worth the paltry price Sound quality is great rich and pleasant to the ear The interface is much more fun than the standard keyboard and it works well with AudioBus I run it on an iPad Mini II in iOS 8 2 with no problems If you are a musician and don t have this app GET IT while the developer is still on vacation                     Free Are you guys nuts Musecrafter1
Great Sounding App very flexible sound design with a few in app purchases Sounds distinctly FM to my ears                     FM in all its glory Laura Z 13
    I like it                     Super LeeRGV
A secret laboratory for FM mad scientists Buy everything and spend the forseeable future plumbing the depths of algorithmic madness                     Wow Modravoda
I wish the slide thing wasn t the default when you open this app Also a keyboard should also be included as some sounds work better with that kind of controller Plus an additional color to high lite the selected knob slider or pad would also be nice the bronze brown thing is nice looking but kind of monochromatic Still all that aside this thing sounds incredible Peace christo                 Luv it but Aka monkey dope
I m sure an ipad has 1000x the computing horsepower of early FM synths Even when set to low quality this app chokes my ipad2 while playing ONE note on some patches The CPU meter goes anywhere from 30 60 while IDLE Is the app not multithreaded Is the polyphony set too high by default Surely if i can play and sequence 5 7 different synth modules in Korg Gadget i should be able to play a single note in this app without sputtering and popping I like the sound and love the interface I would gladly purchase all the upgrades if the app actually worked well Please fix soon This has the potential to be my favorite synth         Why such a CPU hog Coolycoolll
This is a great synth full of presets that can easily be tweaked or morphed into madness A no brainer purchase The developer is constantly making updates to maintain the quality and bring improvements to the app You will not be disappointed Much deeper than it first appears                     Great FM synth Sean Garland
I m so very glad app developers are working on frequency modulation synthesis TF7 is I think the closest thing to the DX7 so far in the App Store That said some crucial DX7 features are missing Keyboard scaling for operator levels and for envelope rate fixed frequency operators operator detune crucial for warmth full four stage envelopes rate and level for each stage would bring this to the DX7 level To get to DX7 II we d need doubled and layered patches random detune alternate tunings and a pitch envelope That said the multiple waveforms for operators filters and effects are features not found in the DX series and are great additions But the three stars are not because of the missing features It s because of terrible documentation and no clear way to contact the developer I was trying to figure out how to initialize a patch But there s no downloadable manual my favorite form of documentation as I m occasionally off grid and off line There is an in app tutorial but it doesn t work sticks at the second stage and necessitates an app reboot There s no email in the app or on the developer web page and there is no support form If the developer added the above features this app could bring back useful FM synthesis in a big way And with useable documentation this would be a 10 star app             Great start needs documentation and a couple features Aarondo
TF7 was already a great synth because it produced great sounds and made programming FM patches just about as easy as I ve ever seen The new expanded algorithms IAP just increased the possibilities by an order of magnitude So much to explore The additional presets sound great and are a good demonstration of what the new algorithms can do Oh plus new effects Super cool A winner in my book                     Great synth great update SuperNiCd
I m not a serious musician I just like to have some fun This app lets me do that I use audio us and finally learned how to use Studio2 Used studio2 to record tracks that I created with TF7                 Fun app Somps
Excellent FM synthesis representation Fantastic effects Innovative playing interface Slightly limited presets even after buying the extras but all are easily tweaked to personal taste edit The pads are great Would really like to be able to swing the arpeggiator and needs an option to enter a specific pattern Would be nice to have a more traditional keyboard or at least more scale options and customizable note selection for the grid Still lots of great sounds to be made with this synth Anxious to incorporate into some compositions             Lots to like lots to wish for Nitpick Pete
This is pretty cool I ll be using this app a lot and the only thing that I think could be improved is the ability to record the music sounds patterns you create                 Cool app ShelbyLoper
The best thing about this attempts to be the playing grid but the scale option allows only for major scales so it is extremely limited I made the mistake of assuming buying the whole app must unlock something so simple so obvious but even in the full version you re stuck with two options chromatic or major scale no other nor custom scales no custom note layout If it had this it would be pretty great I hunted around and ppl been asking for this on dev forum so hopefully soon eh             Neat but scale stuck in major Qwertybeast
When I bought this I already had a number of top notch synth apps I put off picking it up for a while but the buzz kept growing in the music groups So I picked it up but my expectations weren t really high There were already a lot of great synth apps and I had them all What could this one do that the others haven t already done Aside from some really great features and some great sounds this app changed the user interface for actually playing music on the iPad Most synths have a standard keyboard at the bottom of the screen which is somewhat impractical Many of them give you the option of changing the keyboard into scales which is better but still not that far off from an on screen keyboard TF 7 uses a grid of pads that allow you to play chords and patterns by playing shapes Not much different from how I taught myself to play guitar But the way that it is laid out allows you to select notes in a way that you might not have thought of while playing on a linear keyboard This has turned out to be one of the most expressive synths that I ve used directly on the surface of the iPad It still takes some practice but even someone brand new to this kind of thing will find patterns just sort of pop out as you play with it I recommend this one very much                     One of my favorites Gitarzz
I just paid for upgrades What inter app audio are you talking about If its there it s hard to find And no audio copy out Are you crazy I want a refund I know you can t give refunds Add audio copy please     No audio copy Are you crazy Greg Sletteland
Best on the market by far Runs smoothly and sounds beautiful TF7 features astounding presets and a clean control interface constantly improved by a dedicated developer The presets and options within the IAP expand the app tremendously and are priced well Audiobus support updates and excellent midi provide great inter app functionality to this very fun FM synth Very high quality one of the few go to instruments for iPad                     Best iOS FM Synth to Date Massif Dustbin
And I hope continues to be an exciting tool I wish it could record my actions so that I can replay them in patterns and create full songs from just the interesting bits of what I ve played                     Great so far Blackbery-12
Loads of fun to mess around with and easy to use                     Great stuff Basedgrant
The sounds for this synth are amazing and really unique This being said I use Beatmaker 2 as a DAW to program entire tracks Without the ability to assign MIDI channels this synth is useless to me So until I can use virtual this synth will sit on the sidelines If TF7 includes virtual MIdi I will happily raise my rating to 5 stars         Amazing sounds but useless without virtual midi king egorock
Do it No question I would highly recommend this one I like that it s a fairly full featured freemium Try it out It s great pay 3 for the full app and it s amazing                     YES Montegoo
A great start I really dig the sounds in this synth Really clean The UI is straightforward and uncluttered All the functionality is there the price is right                     Cheers zounds23
This is perhaps the most musically inspiring FM synth app I have experienced Great interface I love the performance note triggering layout it motivates and inspires me to create new melodies baselines compositions This IMHO may very well be one of the best examples of non traditional multi touch specific GUIs it s done right not outlandish over the top just enough obviously the developer understands the importance of restraint and when to say stop with the razz a ma tazz eye candy and layout considerations Keep the updates improvements coming along friend                 Done right angelo grover
I am impressed with the sounds I can program and pull out of this FM synth and I say this as an owner of the classic Yamaha DX7 TX7 hardware FM synths The Pro Upgrade is certainly worth purchasing and I m looking forward to the continued development of this iOS FM synth                     Wonderful FM Synth Kikoblu
I have never heard a dx7 Is this what one is supposed to sound like The reason I ask is because I heard dx7 was great for making bells and bright noises like mallets And that s what this is good for Not much in the way of programmability There are definitely some bugs as has been stated It does have a good sound Pretty cinematic but all very emotional                 Dx7 sava66
with Great Sounds and Controls I m a synth addict and after a while it seems that there s not much new to add to the scene but I m finding this refreshing and a great addition to ios music production I suspect any bugs will be worked out soon and it will just get better                     Fun To Play bittlebox
This is a fun little synth with a nice way of making cords                     Cool Erudite Ridiculous
I love this app but when I try to use the midi to be controlled by other apps I e Beatmaker 2 Midi Bridge I can see those apps as options in TF7 but when I switch to the other apps TF7 is no where around for midi control I really love your keyboard but this midi issue will be a deal breaker for many             Midi issue Gemini_Knight05
