Terminus is a full featured SSH terminal emulator with VT100, VT220, ANSI, xterm-color compatibility designed specifically for the iPad. If you think that the iPad deserves better than an upscaled version of an iPhone terminal emulator. ...
This is the best ssh client Ive had on the iPad The keyboard does it alone The apple default keyboard api lacks key functions of a real keyboard such as arrow keys or escape which is fine for using safari but the command line is built around a full keyboard Terminus has an amazing custom keyboard with all of the keys your used to Its much more comfortable to work on than other ssh clients Ive seen                 Better than iSSH
I think this is one of the best ssh clients here Onscreen keyboard with all the keys is a definite plus Terminal emulation is not too glitchy The only gripe I have is that for some reason scrolling does not work when in screen the program              Good but no scrolling in screen
Totally broken Keyboard doesnt work     Broken
The keyboard didnt open all the way in either orientation Characters typed on the semi visible keyboard had no effect on the terminal Its completely unusable     Buyer Beware
The only thing I would add is full screen support in landscape mode I mean there is no good reason the connections pane needs to be open on the left side right              Nice work
Contacted developer before writing no response Xterm colors do not work screen is not fully supported and there is no way to change the font size I am quite disappointed to have spent 5 on this app        Stable but description inaccurate
This is currently my favorite SSH client for iOS The keyboard really makes this app stand out from the rest Its a true fully functional keyboard suitable for all my SSH needs searching history vi etc The terminal type is also standard unlike some other iOS SSH clients Itd be a nice touch if the shift key had the standard iOS shift key behavior remaining on until another key is hit but it acts like a standard PC shift key Also Id like to see screen integration a la TouchTerm Add those two features with SSH keys and this would be a 5 star app              Great keyboard
Needs some additional work Snappy nice keyboard screen rotation works well Core function is very nice No copy and paste Thats a big miss for me Should have read more closely as I assumed that was included Also does not work with fing to identify itself as an ssh or telnet term to ios This would be handy to just click from the list in fing to open using ssh Master password does not work Setting it crashes the app and it does not save it           Good but no copy paste
Absolutely not work for me No F1F12 keys Problem with mc Will be usefull if you are using command prompt only        Not so good
It only took me a couple days to figure out I couldnt truly survive with a networked computing device and NOT have SSH This gem make my pad useful as well as fun Screen sessions command history arrow keys control key its all here Now how about a Dvorak keyboard              Sweet
I have been using Terminus for several days now after I had server problems while on vacation with only my iPad and it is better than Putty in many ways I have not had a single issue with this app which is amazing considering it is a command line utility running in the iPad Oh wait it would be GREAT if it kept the connection open between sessions I did have to relogin if I had to exit to get some data outside of Terminus                 Fantastic App
finally an ssh app with a real keyboard theres a pipe I can actually work with this app not just blunder around until I have accomplished the one required task I was on the verge of giving in and forwarding all my mail to google but with this app I can use my good old terminal mail reader and my friends can continue to mock me fantastic                 custom keyboard is great
This app seems to be fairly well designed but there are definitely a few problems The most glaring issue Ive seen is that I cannot properly use my Apple bluetooth keyboard in conjunction with this app If you do this keys will be inserted at random even though they are not present on the screen For example I tried using the source command like so source hiddendirthefileIwantedtosource and this program sent the following instead soource hiddendirthefileIwantedtosource which obviously caused an error by introducing extra characters that I had not typed I checked multiple times and did not misspell the word source nor was it autocorrected The next issue Ive ran into is that you cannot hide the on screen keyboard and still type so even though Im using a bluetooth keyboard I cant utilize the full screen space because a large portion is consumed by the mandatory onscreen keyboard        Doesnt work well with bluetooth keyboard
I wish there was a way to return this Useless terminal app     Missing unbuy options
Have to agree with mikemar10 that Apple Bluetooth Keyboard integration needs work But even so this is much much more usable than iSSH standalone particularly for me as an Emacs user who relies on access to ctrl and esc keys to be in places where muscle memory expects them to be Hopefully whatever API issues complicate Bluetooth keyboard mode can be worked through at the very least it should be possible to hide the virtual keyboard when a Bluetooth keyboard is paired              Best iPad SSH client yet but needs Bluetooth keyboard work
This app only seems to work as advertised in portrait mode In landscape mode the Connections panel stays open rather than the terminal area stretching to fit I would have found the awesome fullsized keyboard much more usable in landscape mode if it actually expanded there as well Plus splitwindowed VI editing would be best rendered utilizing maximum screen real estate ie landscape mode Please add this as an option I would have gladly given 5 stars if it werent for this major disappointment           So close
Great app but sessions need to persist when switching apps on the iPad For example I need to be able to switch back and forth between my terminal and browser Right now I have to log back in every time which is a nonstarter Also get rid of the connections pane in landscape mode and introduce a larger keyboard instead Good work keep it up              Session persistence and landscape mode keyboard
Love the keyboard Would like it much better if I could hide the connections bar when in landscape              Very good
Nice interface but keyboard only works on entry page Once I click through to the actual connection screen the keyboard stops functioning Wish I could get my 500 back for this nonworking app        Looks pretty but simply doesnt work
I like Terminus better than the other SSH apps but it desperately needs support for SSH keys Please add this feature soon              Nice
This is a terrific terminal emulator but after installing iOS 6 the keyboard no longer shows up Once this gets fixed Ill give it 5 stars Right now its useless since I dont have a Bluetooth keyboard and dont plan on buying one just to use this app           No keyboard under iOS 6
As noted in other reviews has a great on screen keyboard and base functions are smooth However some simple and advanced features are missing When using master password no prompt to login is given just forgets stored servers and keys until you go to master password screen and login Sessions are not persistent across multitask switching On screen kbd does not hide when using Bluetooth Connection listing address book only shows single current entry in portrait mode not obvious how to return to listing App has a lot of potential i hope developer is active              Mixed great kbd lacking some basics
I waited long and hard before splurging for a ssh app I read the reviews for others and compared features This app does 80 of what I need with the following improvements standing in th way of five stars 1 needs color support I want a lime green terminal font on black back ground 2 sessions must be held open Im not sure if other apps do this or if it is a limitation of iOS but if I log on to a remote server I do not want to relog on every time I switch applications All in all a decent implementation and well worth the few dollars youll pay to be able to remote into a UNIX Linux or BSD Based server              Basic ssh access
Works well except for resize restrictions Shortcoming is that it drops ssh connection when you switch to another app and then return unlike competing ssh term apps           Drops connection
Need to have their onscreen kbd up even when using the apple keyboard dock accessory Cuts screen real estate in half right there           Doesnt work with normal keyboard dock either
I was looking for a good ssh app ever since I got an iPad 2 and wasnt having much luck Not sure why I didnt notice this earlier I can use the iPads greater resolution and the keyboard really makes a huge keyboard Other ssh apps I have tried were cumbersome because of the native keyboard Swipe scrolling is sweet I love the speed of it I wish I could do that on my actual desktop The only thing I could wish for is to be able to zoominout For anyone reading this in the app fn arrow key functions as home end page up and down I didnt realize that myself and found it just playing around                 I wish I found this earlier
The app works as promised The keyboard in particular is a great feature and has no issue sending the proper control characters I took one star off because it doesnt maintain a connection if you switch to another app This makes it impossible to go back and forth between a browser I took off one more for what I believe to be a complete inability to paste text typing out URLs and such is quite painful as a result These may seem like minor issues but they make it significantly less useful in practice           Works as Advertised
This is definitely the best IPad ssh app Ive seen Tried several Ok like three But still thats a few even spent money on one other This is the best of the bunch Not able to use arrow keys with my bluetooth keyboard nor have I figured out how to make the onscreen keyboard go away when using an external Also no foot massage feature Just like my other apps So disappointing              Best SSH client on ipad
Ive used Terminus for several months and the most recent versions have really suffered in terms of keyboard implementation The current version doesnt work well at all with my Bluetooth keyboard If Im using a Bluetooth keyboard the onscreen keyboard appears anyway and the only way I can dismiss it is to switch to some other app and then switch back again But if the onscreen keyboard doesnt appear then the Bluetooth keyboard doesnt work either Hopefully this will be fixed soon        Quality has slipped
This has the best virtual keyboard of any terminal emulator Ive used on the iPad Interactivity is the closest to a physical keyboard Ive come across on a touchscreen Easy access to numbers and nonalphabet characters is great My main interest in using SSH on the iPad is to do code review from the couch The way Terminus intuitively hides the keyboard and handles scrolling is exactly what I need to do this effectively The fn key provides twofinger access to page updown home and end via the arrow keys At the time of writing this app hasnt seen an update since it was released 5 months ago Sadly this means that it doesnt support multitasking on iOS 4 which came out after this apps first and only release Multitasking support only requires a recompile in many cases The fact that I prefer this terminal emulator to other despite the fact that its only had one release is a testament to both the quality of this app I sincerely hope we see a 11              Most usable terminal emulator on iPad
It is the best terminal emulator on iOS But it does not work on iOS 6 I give 5 stars in advance and wait for a patch restoring the functionality of Terminus under latest iOS Please fix that missing keyboard annoying thing                 Great but
The terminal is very limited The iPad only shows 15 lines as the screen display of the keyboard covers the rest of the screen The screen keyboard doesnt go away even when you sync a Bluetooth keyboard A 15 line terminal is very frustrating I also tried all kinds of typical Emacs key mappings and found way too many not working Forget about using the meta key and the lack of escape key is killing me The App has no diagnostics no logging and no error messages Also there is no manual or support email Its a good thing that this is only 500 because Im going to declare that to be a loss     Very limited
This app does not have support for SSH keys it is therefor unusable to me As I have not been able to login to any of my servers I am unable to comment on its usability Update I just heard from the developer that SSH keys will be in the next release if that is the case I anticipate giving this application 5 stars     Missing critical function
The function and overall design of this application are great If you are looking for a nice clean tothepoint ssh client at a good price this definitely fits the bill There are two issues that for me are really hard to get over The bluetooth keyboard doesnt work if the onscreen keyboard is hidden That seems pretty counterintuitive but its true Additionally the drawer with the list of connections on the left side will not go away in landscape mode no matter how hard you swipe I promise I tried Other interactions in the app work exactly how you would expect them to but that drawer is stuck no matter what and keyboard too if you want to type That takes what should be a 9x7 screen down to a much less enjoyable 7x4 Im giving this app 3 stars with one off for each of these understandable but noticeable omissions Overall I am happy with my purchase Ill be looking forward to updates into the future and hoping for a fix to these minor hitches           Great overall but missing some use cases
This application is pretty simple it lacks a lot of the bells and whistles other premium SSH clients tout like multiple terminals or built in VNC However in my own opinion if thats what youre after there are far better solutions out there iTeleport for VNC for example If youre looking at this application though and highly debating whether or not it deserves your fine hard earned handful of dollars then you probably dont care about those extra bells and whistles As educated individuals who are smart and aware enough to not only understand what this apps use is but further more wish to engage that use there are way more important things to consider First and foremost for any terminal emulator that a UNIX geek considers most important hobbiest and serious working professional alike is Does it do what I need it to do and does it do it well and reliably The answer here is yes Yes and YES I have used this application nearly every single day since I bought it nearly 2 years ago Sure I could probably brag to my developer coworkers about how the app I bought came with multiple split screen VNC sessions or that it was the most expensive app offered at the time and feel extra empowered either way but two years later and thats really not important Whats important to me is that I have used this app consistently nearly every day and its simple it does exactly what it offers does it quick reliably well and Im comfortable with it Full screen once youve SSHd into a remote machine you cant tell the screen apart from the Mac OS X terminal or a Linux gnome terminal They are identical replicating all the colors and every last little aspect of the remote machine youre used to seeing when using desktop terminal Of the features you expect from an iPad terminal emulator it covers them all The application incorporates its own soft keyboard not too dissimilar from the regular keyboard but manages to throw in all the keys you require in modest simple and comfortable layout Keys including CTRL all four arrow keys tab caps lock and numbers The CTRL key works by holding it down and pressing the associated key for the command youre looking for or just by tapping it itll toggle and let you press the associated key afterwards for the same effect The shift key works the same way The app also supports a Bluetooth keyboard and functions beautifully in full screen mode Also note the reviews that say you cant paste in this app are wrong you can indeed paste As far as non standard functions youre not expecting the developer has innovated a feature that Ive not been able to find with any other phonetablet terminal app that Ive become adjusted to and just can not live out anymore Any other app Ive tried Ive tossed because Ive become just so spoiled with this priceless feature Two finger 4 directional scrolling To move the cursor in any direction just scroll it with two fingers The regular scroll with one finger works beautifully as well giving you a basically endless scroll history thats quick and smooth When youre technically inside a running program though such as a programs man pages nano vi or what ever your editor of choice is you know that program redraws the entire screen on scroll so with one finger theres technically nothing to scroll Using two fingers to move the cursor is brilliant though makes it so effortless and easy to get around documents If another app does manage to steal me away from this one it wont be without ripping off this feature My one draw back and source of trying out so much other software as of late was that when iOS 6 came out the soft keyboard stopped working It was a good 3 to 4 weeks before the developer released a patch to fix this It was the only issue Ive ever experienced and he fully took care of it It did make my heart skip though and cause some experimentation with other apps Every other app I tried though just brought about a sour experience that brought me back to this one I even carried my ipad 1 around for a couple of weeks just so I could still use it In the end I simply love this app I use it every day and it works great Its got an attractive icon that as a graphic designer Im not ashamed to have on my main landing screen and does absolutely everything I need it too flawlessly Not too mention for those who are price cautious its WAY cheaper than many of the other popular choices that with all their extra bells and whistles simply just dont work as well as this one does                 Love
The is the best terminal app for iPad ever Unfortunately it looks like something happened with keyboard support in this version on iOS6 It does not showes at all It is possible to connect to a server scroll command history but not give new commands Guys please fix it Also there are no way to leave you a message on your support site Thanks in advance                 Good thing
I bought Terminus for the occasional need to access my servers when Im not by my laptop It suits me for that purpose just about perfectly Another reviewer mentioned the keyboard and I have to agree The keyboard is fabulous There was a weird situation where I couldnt get back to the host list without restarting the app but in retrospect that was probably user error Terminus is definitely worth the for the occasional need for SSH                 Just about perfect for me
For my uses it really needs the ability to copy and paste things displayed into the command line The full keyboard is nice and intuitive but child sized           Needs copy and paste
Very elegant implementation Font and characters are well taken care of and keyboard is indeed well thought out Would prefer that landscape view uses entire width for character display rather than listing other connections but I can deal with it and hope a future version implements it              Clean simple quick
