Sygic North America: GPS Navigation

Everything seems to work now However I wish there was a way to set the frequency of instructions It continually tells you to continue or go straight on                 Everything works now

Sygic acknowledges a problem exists YOU CANNOT NAVIGATE FROM YOUR CONTACTS This makes it USELESS for me Sygic support emailed me that there is NO KNOWN FIX there is no planned date to release a FIX I contacted Apple to request a refund they refused stating SALES are FINAL I asked Apple to at the very LEAST to state on iTunes that navigation from contacts is NOT POSSIBLE I think it is better that they REMOVE the app from iTunes 2500 I also purchased the HUD payment for NOTHING DONT BUY this app     DONT BUY if you want to navigate from CONTACTS

It is somewhat awkward in its routing algorithms If one decides to override the suggested route it may take many miles before it suggests an updated route It is free after all        It is OK just

Very very happy with this app Ive been using it for almost a year and it has never let me down even in remote parts of Mexico Getting around in the app and managing favorites could use a few interface improvements I would definitely give a 5 star rating with a few tweaks to the UI Great app              Excellent Navigation app

When you select an address from a contact selecting addresses in any other way is cumbersome the app crashes When you launch the app it starts in landscape mode regardless of which orientation your device is in it will not correct itself unless you tilt the device back and forth This is very inconvenient if your tablet is mounted in a car mount Only some of the contacts appear for some reason I have owned this app for a few years It was always buggy but the bugs seem to be getting worse This could be a very good app but a product this mature should not be so broken        Crashes and other bugs

Ive been using this application for more than 6 months and they are excellent very accurate and fast I use iPhone 5 I can tell you Im a GPS fan got a lot of them in different types for more than maybe 10 years handheld and automotive and Sygic did a great job I can replace all of them with this maps                 Excelent maps

I had a high hope for this program It has a very good user interface thats nice to look at However its navigation performance could use some major improvements First of all often the program froze for up to 10 seconds Traveling in highways this was a major annoyance Also its navigational directions were frequently interesting I tried the program navigating to places Im very familiar with and the direction options it presented surprised me Even though there is a straight simple way the program gave very circuitous route options prolonging the travel time significantly There were no accidents or other road events to justify the colorful navigational directions This happened in about 3040 of the time As the result I cant trust this program to provide me with reliable directions in unfamiliar settings I still like the look of the program and I hope they improve the program so that I can use it with confidence        Could be better

I find this program is not easy to use It has tiny little icons that are difficult to figure out My Garmin gps is much more user friendly I dont usually write reviews but the review popup would not go away even though I paid for this program        paid version

Very few instances where is doesnt know where something is Another few where it stops giving directions a few hundred feet before arrival Otherwise a good app              Good app

Over all its a good app for the price Two minor gripes and Im sure one is the hardware fault speed reported by app is about 5mph slower than actual speed The other minor gripe is it lacks spoken street names instead of just generic turn left and right Other than that its fairly accurate and dependable Menus could be a little easier to navigate to get to the things you need to get to a little confusing at first Almost a replacement for my actual good ol Garmin but not quite              Pretty good

Most features about the GPS map app are outstanding Read the verbiage about the app and it all works well My suggestions are Ensure the paste function works we would appreciate the ability to copy an address in an email and paste in the app GPS does not work for me when not connected to a data connection Would be nice not to press so many buttons from selecting address and start navigation this is also the issue with Waze and apple maps so no real criticism to this app              Good But a few recommendations

This App is very useful It is an amazing App This application has so many features The GPS satellite feed is of military accuracy This means that it will be very hard to get lost                 Great App

Update I contacted them and they migrated the license to the new GUI These guys are just not honest enough There are multiple versions of sygic in the App Store It is not clear which exact version you get when you buy Only after I installed I figured out this is the old version and not the new fancy one This is not what I wanted and now I have to chase them and bag for a refund Just dont buy this version I will update when I know which version is the new one I am extremely disappointed and I feel deceived              I am extremely disappointed and I feel deceived

Ill start this review by saying that Im happy I bought this app It has saved me lots of time navigating the streets of Mexico City and the highways of Mexico But it has also gotten me stuck in traffic and sent me on wild goose chases looking for nonexistent cafés Heres the good and the bad in detail Sygic Please pay attention PROS Works without a data connection Excellent map detail Oneway streets are almost always correct Very good voice navigation Tons of voice options Lots of languages Graphics are nice 3D looks nice but 2D is more useful Allows you to download maps individually to save space Reasonably accurate positioning Correct road data even in small towns Recovers from wrong turns fairly quickly never says Recalculating please wait Points of interest in Mexico City such as cafés restaurants and hotels are accurate about 85 of the time CONS Points of interest in Mexico City such as cafés and restaurants are only accurate about 85 of the time The other 15 of the time the cafésrestaurants have completely wrong addresses out of date or where they never were leading to a big waste of time  and a lack of trust No button or other clear mechanism for reporting an error to Sygic It would be simple Add a button for POI incorrect or Street map incorrect or Impossible turn Some newly completed roads are not on the map yet but again theres no way to report that Sygic Sometimes it tells you to turn left but theres a NO LEFT TURN sign Sometimes in walking mode it thinks youre on another street positioning doesnt seem to be as accurate as driving mode Charge a subscription for traffic info Given that Waze offers traffic info for free charging for traffic info on top of the 40 price tag is unappealing In any case theres no traffic data available for Mexico Waze is becoming a favorite here for that feature Doesnt use iOS builtin text editing so when you name a favorite you cant make a correction without erasing everything Clunky Adding current location or destination to favorites is a process that involves going through several screens Instead there should be a star button on the main screen followed by a popup with 2 options Current location Destination It could be that simple On iPhone 4 app uses 1 of battery per minute when in the foreground Can cause the iPhone 4 to get very hot Conclusion A very good offline GPS system that doesnt require a data connection but doesnt provide the traffic data that Waze offers and no clear way to report errors              Very good but needs some improvements

This navigator works very well on my iPad However like my TomTom it tends to bias the route selection toward freeways It will often put me on a freeway when there is a secondary road that would get me there faster with fewer miles                 Handy iPad navigator

Its difficult to search place and its hard to figure out how to use it        Good but hard to use

It seems the latest version with traffic is a big plus to the app One problem if you already have a TomTom account it seems it will take your money but will not let you have traffic for both TOMTOM app and Sygic so buyer beware IT WILL NOT RESTORE YOUR PURCHASE IN ITUNES The routing has somewhat improved but in the DC MA VA area the beltway totally confuses this app It does not know the shortest route may not be the fastest and will insist on taking you through DC with its zillion red light and speed cameras and 25mph speed limit The app should know to use the beltway to avoid big cities unless your destination is in the city and beltways are faster than driving through a city ALL the other major gps apps do this automatically The many features are the main reason I cant delete this app It surpasses all the rest in features Including TOMTOM Only minor complaint I have is it seems to advertise Customizable POIs but the format is beyond my computer skills to import In short it doesnt work even following all instructions and the iPhone it self maybe blocking some of this functionality The programers need to develope a program that can convert POIs by drag and drop or simply go to a more common format Even customized icons can no longer be addedBTW disc aid no longer works with app              Routing still needs some work Traffic quit working

Fantastic graphics outstanding alert system and very current maps Easily 5 stars with the following changes Needs more roads showing speed limit and have an audible alert for mph a user set amount exceeding speed limit During driving in country the next turn is not shown at the top of screen so it minimizes react time when it is display It should ALWAYS be displayed Needs a setting to avoid uturns Fix the arrival time calculationdisplay as it is extremely over stated Straight ahead voice prompt is superfluous as it is already pretty obvious from from the graphics This app could be 1 with the above changes              Has Potential Needs Work

I purchased both N American and Australian maps because they were on 25 sale Well I moved too fast on that decision The apps seem to have a lots of neat features than Garmin but compare to the real world of GPS hardware such as Garmin Sygic annoying features seems a decade behind Garmin and Google The voice navigation gives direction on each traffic light and did not contain street names HUD is an extra cost And the HUD display creates double vision on the windshield Sygic does not display the active lane guidance which is a built induction for all GPS hardwares these days The one feature that was missing on this app is connection to my car Bluetooth     Sygic vs Garmin vs Google

Their updates keep getting a better app I was sort of disappointed but I see sygic staff is making a good work Still is difficult to do some things but looking for places is better now the new voices and HUD are fantastical maps are not the best but they are ok in general terms perhaps this app is now the best gps you could find in App Store at a great price                 Sygic listens

Tried GPS this eveningwhile it did route my way the navigation was very spottykept freezing and jumping ahead several streets UPDATE its now a joke Cant download maps now on wifi Saying Im not connected to Internet Funny how I am able to surf the web and update other apps on my phone        Works when it wants to

Why does the program ask to use contacts then fail to understand the format I get the address from a contact and it appears with a red banner Do I have to retype it in your country statecity street format This is a deal breaker issue Please help     Use of apple contacts difficult

There are two apps by Sygic in the App Store Both are called Sygic and claim to provide gps based maps without requiring ongoing data downloads from cell phone providers Both are works in progress so the user would hope for continued improvements But after paying for one of these over a year ago I am still waiting for the product to evolve into a service that is easy for me to use Which of the two gps apps will the company improve Why take a chance on a company that would release two similar apps with unknown distinctions between them and be unsure which variant will receive continued development efforts In app purchases made in one version are named differently and not available in the other app from the same company How is that fair to the user I wish Id saved my money for another product If you consider purchasing be sure to investigate the process for entering a destination into the app This should be simple but I found it to be almost impossible Very strange     Avoid until Sygic is not so deceptive

I used the European version extensively on a recent trip to France A real lifesaver showing us exactly where we were and needed to go in those old European towns with the winding roads Great stuff I have equally high hopes for the North American version but I already noticed this does not include a major highway extension near Montreal the 30 was extended to the 20 on the southwest side That was completed about 8 months ago and is not reflected in the current version Please add this and other major road changes           Updates Needed

No GPS Cost me 30 dollars for what        Well

It is suppose to provide alternate route but only offers one which takes some of the wackiest out of the way roads I certainly hope there is a quick fix coming for this current update otherwise I just through away 30 I will revise this review if you come up with a fix otherwise this mapping app is pathetic     This App Is HORRIBLE
