Not worth the outrageous monthly fees Rip off At least provide data thats accurate and reliable This app is rendered useless once your subscription expires The app locks up until you pay 499 to unlock it So whats the point of paying for the app in the first place Shouldnt the app be free if what your paying for is the subscription Data provided is inaccurate unreliable unjustified monthly fees     App is Horrible Worst in its Class

If this is your only means of determining whether the surf is good youll be disappointed with the results My closest beach will be rated a 5 Ill go check it out and its ankle high waves but clean The rating algorithm seems to take wind speeddirection swell directionperiod and tides into account pretty well Where it fails is including swell size at least around me Sunset Beach CA Final verdict not worth 5month if I need to consult another app or website The community features arent selling it enough           Not bad depends on the break

So stoked on this legitimate surf tool Looking forward to future updates that expand the predictive capability beyond Cali to east coast and abroad Well done                 Best surf application by far

This app wants a monthly subscription for information that is freely available in other appswebsites I regret paying 4 the free sites are better I dont use this app even during my free trial Its a joke     This app is a joke

The rating for all the spots never change The forecast are about a month old Worthless     Poor

First off for all the whiners out there complaining about the monthly fee perhaps you should go to work and tell your boss that youll do your job for free Sure the information is available elsewhere but thats not what the app is about Its about bringing a bunch of different info together and ideally integrating it with userreported data to provide a better forecasting tool that works on a spotlevel basis Thats a pretty cool idea Now Im not sure how well the app does just that because its listing my local spot as an 8 and its maybe knee high and closing out Hopefully as more people use it and log reports it will become more intelligent thats the whole idea right           Fantastic idea still needs some work

Great user interface simple to navigate figure out but full of very useful data Its as simple or as complex as you want it to be Great spot database but looking forward to an even better expanded intl version                 Definitely the best surf report app out there

I love love love this app for my morning surf check It has the best buoy interface Ive seen for ipHone The polar swell plot that is timelinked to the tide chart is beautiful and all I really need to plan my surf session Youve got swell height period and direction wind tide and tide velocity all in one compact and perfectly laid out page The log feature is fun and I like penning a couple of notes on particularly epic sessions and noting what board I rode and what the conditions were like A nice addition would be to link the polar plot for buoy data to the session so that if I look at my logged session for January 13 2010 I can see what the buoys were doing during the 2 hours I was in the water I was bummed when they added the monthly subscription I hope that in the future if they go back to a subscription model that the forecast and buoy data is a pay feature but the log data Ive entered for previous surfs remains accessible Otherwise I would like to transcribe it to a different surf log so that I dont lose that data I hope Surf Explorer is still in the app store when I upgrade to the next iphone                 Fantastic Surf App

Said it was free but charged me 499 The only useful thing in this app is the spots section which apparently costs 5 a month to access     Horrible not worth it

This is handsdown the most useful surfforecasting tool Ive seen The spots section makes it easy to zero in on specific spots Also I like the surf log Its easy to use and Ive gotten in the habit of referring back to it when Im deciding whether to go check certain spots The fact that my log entries also help to personalize the scores for me is icing on the cake The app would be better if it included water temperature and forecast data Next version Also the other day I noticed that some of the scores were a bit dubious so I sent the guys a message using the Aloha button gotta love it to see what was up They got right back to me and explained the issue and what theyre doing to resolve it They really seem to be on top of things which is impressive As a heavy consumer of technology Ive learned to appreciate companies that stand behind their products I rate it 5 stars because I like it better than any of the other surf apps and Ive tried them all If the first version of their product is this good then I cant wait to see whats in the next version                 Best Surfing App Ever

This is the best of the iphone surf related apps out there If you dont know an area it really helps figuring out where the best waves are likely to be but it can be better If it gets forecasting and and gets a little better on the ratings it will be the only tool ill need                 Best of the lot

Anyone who gives this app a single star clearly doesnt understand the revolutionary aspect what SurfExplorer does If you read the most helpful reviews you can get a sense for what this app is all about Although it does offer the same type of data that you see in other surf apps buoy tide wind etc this app focuses on helping you target specific spots so you can score them when theyre good The Log lets you record your own observations and share them with friends in realtime which is pretty cool Arguably the coolest part of SurfExplorer is whats going on behind the scenes The app talks to a central server that uses Artificial Intelligence that is designed to learn from your log entries and help you get specific spots dialed so you can score better waves in the future This is also the part of the app that needs the most work but rest assured that there is a team of people working on it Its clear that the team thats behind this app really cares about their users Shoot them a message through the Aloha tab and they respond quickly You can tell straight away that theyre a bunch of techsavvy surfers who are passionate about finding good waves and they want to build a solid tool that helps them to that end Im behind them 100                 In a league of its own Nothing like the other surf apps

This is a great app Its the only one Ive seen that rates the current conditions specifically for a particular surf spot The buoy data with the wave direction chart is so good I dont even need to see the waves any more to know what its like out there                 Great app tells you everything you need to know

This morning every spot on the west coast from San Diego to Jalama shows a score of 0 Really If this app is not reliable its pretty worthless Ive been told they are working out new algorithms but for the last couple if months Ive relied on this less and less        Great concept woefully executed

This is the best surf app I have ever tried It features the the advanced surf technology available Seeing live scores for all my favorite spots is freaking awesome and saves lots of wasted time making decisions It also provides a medium to log your surf sessions and automatically saves all the swell conditions associated with each session for later comparison I can readily share all my surf sessions and observations with my friends Dont leave home without it this is the only surf app you will ever need Great job                 Brilliant

Ok This app is now 1 I changed my low review and now have to give this app 5 stars We all appreciate the fact they listened to us and now removed the monthly charge This is a brilliant move and if they do return to a pricing model I bet they move to annual fee instead That will benefit everyone us with a wonderful app and the development team to continue to improve it Thanks again                 Stoked They removed the monthly fees

This is my new favorite surf app Its really helpful in So Cal to determine where the swell is hitting and where its being shadowed by the Channel Islands I like being able to log my sessions to                 Great app

This is an amazing surf tool The UI is easy to use and beautiful to look at I love the tide graphs and current conditions from the buoys By far the best feature though is getting current scores for my favorite surf spots Well worth it at twice the price                 Fantastic

Love the app Not sure why they feel as if surfers will pay a monthly subscription fee for free information All you have to do is go to National Data Bouy Center found on NOAA and search your local bouy to get the same info for free The interface of the app is clean and functions well It seems like a lot of thought went into the development of the app but I cant find a reason why I would purchase the app again once my monthly subscription runs out From my experience these monthly service fee apps end up tanking Kind of a bummer because it is fun to use but will let my subscription run out and say bye to Surf Explorer ps let me know when you change your business plan and offer the app as a one time fee        Good but not worth the monthly subscription

Ive been surfing for a long time and Ive never seen a surf log like this one I like how it automatically grabs the tide wind buoy data for each of my log entries Being able to send updates to friends when I check the surf is nice but I can only share with my friends who have this iPhone app It would be better if I could share with all of my friends Seeing all the spots and current scores is a cool idea Ive noticed that the scores arent always accurate but Im guessing that theyll improve over time since the app learns from my log entries I might not pay the monthly fee that they charge for this spots section because I pretty much know all my home breaks pretty well For a surf trip though I think 499 is well worth having a live guide to all the spots I agree with everyone who says the app needs forecast data and water temp Still Im finding that this app meets all my daily needs I like it better than the other surf apps so Im giving it 5 stars Please keep up the good work                 A very innovative app with huge potential

I bought this app thinking it would give me a quick overview of the surf in my area The format is pretty simple and would work if they would actually update their reports The number grade is completely arbitrary Its labeled the spots that are flat 5 and above while the spots seeing head high perfect waves get zeros I have contacted them via the app but no one has responded     Had potential

I think this is one of the best apps for surfers out there I love the fact that they rate spots on a sliding scale and you can look up beaches all over San Diego or even the US Also being able to correct their ratings is a useful addition The price is a little high at 499 a month and I hope they reduce it since it would draw more people in              Surf report

The SurfExplorer app is nothing like the other surfforecasting apps Oakley MSW et al This app focuses on helping surfers target the best spots for the current conditions which is fundamentally different from forecasting swell I love this app because it brings together all of the raw data that I like to use when figuring out where to surf The surf log is a really nice tool that I find myself referring to more and more Based on whats in this first version I cant wait to see what these guys include in the next version Its bound to be pretty sweet Try not to pay much attention to the haters who give it a single star This is by far the coolest most innovative surf app out there Its well worth the cost of the app You can tell that the folks who built it really care about taking care of their users                 Surf app aficionado thinks this is the best surf app

I never really review apps due to the busyness of my life but this app is great and the support is awesome Ask a question and they answered in like mins And all the people who complain need to stop complaining about the subscription cause like said before why not go to work for free Also subscription fee is waived for year even more a reason this app is great Deff love the app and the fact they keep updating and working on it shows they stick by there customers                 Great app
