Since the update a few days ago every time I try to open an article the app crashes Cant even use this app now     Crash all the time

Since the April 2015 update it crashes every time I tap to open a story The bugs are significant Please fix them     Update makes it worse

After the last update the app closes immediately after I click on any story I havent been been to read a single story Horrible     Useless

Interesting content although some dubious stories and that is getting more frequent but the app is terrible Half the time it freezes up     One of the worst apps on my iPhone

Please fix the sharecrash problem Every time I read slate I want to tweet post or email an article and this app crashes every time     Dont tweet our articles

Constantly crashes I havent gotten past the home screen     Why

The most recent update is just a waste of space and data Please get rid of the title page pics They dont add anything make it very hard to read the titles and make it very difficult to scroll through looking for articles I doubt they improve the very high data volumes that this app consumes Dont the developers know that we are paying for this data     Overwhelmed by pictures

This app is horrible I cant sign in on Slate Plus and when I click forgot password it takes me to a dead end part of their website where I cant actually get to any forms to enter my username or email Shoddy design     No access to my Slate account

I love Slate and this app is better than the old one which was barely functional for much of its life but it is really a work in progress The mobile website works much better When it is working it is ok The layout reflects that of the site I miss the old format but that ship has sailed with big beautiful pictures and Slates trademark titles There is a lot of wasted space Only two or three titles fit on the screen at a time of an iP6 The parallax shifting has been significantly improved Better than the regular site only Slate content is linked to the main feed It is only at the bottom of articles that there are crosslinks to other related content much of which is advertising advertorials or pure garbage 8 tips for and sites like allwomenstalk at the bottom of most articles Worse are the bugs The navigation tools just dont work ads get stuck in weird places and it crashes frequently Its moot since the navigation feature does not work but many blogsdepartments are missing from the list that is there The app has no offline or prefetching mojo so a lot of time reading is waiting for the loads Forget reading this on the subway Overall it is an admirable effort but the app is nowhere near the level of excellence of the content I want to love it but without more work its not my favorite way to read Slate on my phone        Terrific site Half baked app

With the latest update the articles load okay but the app crashes every time I hit the Share button Annoying           Please fix the share feature for iphone

This is pretty much where I get a lot of my content when I wake up in the morning that works really great on my phone not to mention content is good              Content

I like Slate a lot but this app stinks I especially like it not when there is a reference to a link or video that is absolutely nowhere to be found Fix your dumb app and maybe Id be willing to pay for it     Not paying 60 a year for this junk

The only reason I downloaded this app was because Slates comments stopped working on mobile browsers tried both safari and mercury so I hoped this app would allow me to participate in the community discussions once more But I was wrong and therefore this app is more or less worthless inferior to webpage version of same articles     No comments

50 a year for this app are you friggin high Not worth it Maybe worth 5 total for the app without adds but definitely not going to pay for this     Cost

I deleted the app after the last update but gave it another try after this one and find myself still queasy trying to flip through the home page Slate has been my favorite online source for a long time and Im really missing the old app Id rather the simplicity of that design Hopefully this will be fixed I had to delete this version after a bit too Please bring back the old design     Still so queasy

I can barely tolerate Slates website but their app is intolerable with the most recently updated version being unusable It crashes every time I try to use it and have simply opted to remove it altogether Please figure this out folks you seem preoccupied with concentrating on the things that are not making people want to have access to your journalism     If I could I would give it no stars

It stopped refreshing articles about 2 days ago so I deleted the app and redownloaded it Now it wont load anything and I get an error message saying were sorry but this content cant be loaded Doesnt work at all     App not working

Avid Slate reader for years Just updated this app from some previous version which had no showstopping issues to this new version I suppose was meant to be flashier but is the most terrible thing ever Crashes constantly or pulls up a blank page when trying to read a column And its constantly pushing slate something the previous version didnt do Feels like trickery to click on an article only to be told I have to subscribe to be able to read it No thank you I dont want to read it that badly Ive deleted it and will just use the website for now     Terrible

This app crashes on my iPhone 6 every time Not worth downloading since it doesnt work     Crashes EVERY time

Cant figure out how to read the comments to the articles on slate which is the best part of the site No point in using the app Ill probably just read other sites that provide hard news since the app doesnt allow people to discuss the opinion pieces here on the site     No comments

The app gave me a warning that it would make international users pay for content then shut me down with a paywall shortly after Only Im not overseas Havent been since I have had the app either Couldnt reset things so I just deleted it Guess I definitely wont be useful to their advertising now     International

I love Slate I really do How is it possible that its app keeps getting worse and worse with each update It used to be the most reliable out of all my news apps now it takes forever to load and it crashes like the rest of them do So very disappointing     Argg

I thought the people at slate were supposed to be smart This total incompetence when it comes to one of the most important pieces of their digital media platform undermines that assumption Yeah I really want to rush to read Lilly Newmans expert opinion about tech issues on my iphoneoh wait I cant her very own tech team at the magazine hasnt figured out the technology to enable me to do that And whats with the inability to share articles Isnt Julia Turner all about the marvelous powers of social media Listen I love much of the content at Slate but this is basic stuff that needs to be addressed     Not an improvement

I got tired of clicking on an article to find only a paragraph or two or references to videos with no link to the video     Just Deleted It

The Slate app was never particularly good slow page loads video playback issues but by adding a paywall it is now entirely worthless There are better news services with better apps for free out there     Mediocre app turned completely unusable

I love Slate I read the articles and listen to the podcasts regularly I like it so much that I paid to join Slate Plus last year But I have yet to figure out how to access Slate content via the app It always asks for my password and I get into a never ending loop from which I cant escape Then I get annoyed and leave to read something else They should fix this if they want the paid pArt of this venture to actually succeed        Slate plus doesnt work

And Im pretty sure it wasnt free It crashes it leads away to nonSlate sites many of them poorly written blogs with neverending ads covering the content some with no option to X them away there are ads on the site itself despite being a paid app its frame covers content from a related site hint if a Slate post sends you to a Comedy Central video just give up and find it yourself on Safari And if you are a Slate member dont expect any extras Signin apparently is a wellguarded secret Cant click on more to see comments on Dear Prudence because the link is hiding behind a stupid graphic This app badly needs a total revamp Obviously the developers are not users Im so sick of it all Im going back to clicking on links from my daily Slate emails and using a browser Or waiting until Im using my laptop Except that I really want to read the content on my phone This aggravation is not worth it I am naiively hopeful with each update They never fail to disappoint     I hate this app more every day

I love Slate but I hate this app It crashes every time Its not a matter of if it will crash but when And dont ever click on an external link because it will crash every time The article links often dont work I click on one article to be sent to another fairly often I feel catfished Some people may but I dont like fancy I wish Slate would go back to the days when they had just a list of all the articles I appreciate all the hard work but I just want to read        Could be worse could be better

Comment capability is nonexistent on this app For a publication that talks about being accessible and listening to its readers thats humble Less buggy than the previous version video now works and Slate members can sign in on the iPhone app not on the iPad Slate gets high marks from me for its writing but the technology is still way behind        No comments buggy

I like the updated Slate app a lot But I recently purchased a Slate Plus subscription through the app but I am unable to link it to my existing account Please fix asap so I and others can get the Slate Plus content anywhere and everywhere I appreciated the quick reply from your team that you all are aware of the problem but hope you are able to fix it or find a work around promptly Thanks and look forward to giving you all a much better rating very soon     Great app but pls fix Slate Plus sign in

I liked this app because it had many stories every day Now it doesnt update for very long times Uninstalled many times and it doesnt help The website doesnt work either     No updates

I love slate and have been reading for years Downloaded the app to catch stories on my phone when Im away from my PC The app crashes ALL the time When it doesnt crash half the time the content you want to read never loads This is particularly frustrating when you swipe left or right and the story you didnt want to read had loaded with no trouble I find its better to select the next story in a category and let that freeze and then swipe over to read what Im really interested in For an organization the publishes a lot of articles about the future of tech maybe some of these tech prognosticators can find someone in the present to fix this glitchy app        Good content Junk app

This update is a real dog The new title page just wastes space with super large titles that have no purpose other that to be larger than the last version Loading the stories is useless most just hang and fail to load I assume some UI expert decided to include some clever graphics that dont actually work Just load the web page directly dont use the app     The latest version no longer updates the content

I updated the app this morning and upon opening it and trying to read an article it crashed immediately It did this three more times consecutively A late April Fools joke maybe Update It still crashes Every single time Any article Feel pretty comfortable calling this the worst app update Ive ever seen for any app Update 2 Much better Thank you Would like to see a commenting feature included in the future but this update is working a lot better              Latest update
