As a student of Chinese this is an app that I just cant live without It is simply THE ONLY way to learn how to write characters Theres no such thing as an all purpose language learning app at least not one thats any good But Skritter is the best possible tool for the job it does Pair this with Anki and Pleco and thats all you need                 Indispensable

I loved this app until it stopped working as the previous posters said the characters no longer load I emailed inapp to them and have not received a response I am a paid subscriber 1499mo is not cheap The problem started for me before I made any updates to my device This prompted me to update everything and then to find it is still broken Im upset to be rippedoff for something I pay for and need to use on a daily basis An email or notice from the company to explain the problem and propose a timeline to fix would be appreciated as well as a refund for the time lost     App is broken

I have used various SRS tools in the past and none have been as fun and easy to use as Skritter They have a ton of textbook vocab lists right out of the box so chances are your textbook is in there Been skrittering for two months now and cant stop                 Got me hooked to studying characters

Awesome app but another bug has surfaced Cant listen to my studying jams while putting away hours on this app Save my sanity from the silence     Cant listen to music now

The bug that prevented the characters from displaying properly has been fixed I still prefer the old volume setting though having the app continue to make sounds while the phone is in silent mode seems counterintuitive                 Bug fixed

This app is good for learning traditional Chinese Hard to find apps for traditional Chinese as many apps only teach simple Chinese Good for practicing character strokes and there are many leasons I hope the rate of learning isnt too fast The app will be useful for those who gave a basis of a little Chinese Unfortunately the description says its a paid app Better if you can buy the lessons individually instead                 Good practice

EDIT Reinstalled the app All is good Skritter is butter once again This app single handedly made me believe I could learn Chinese characters But the last few releases have been disappointing On an iPhone 6 I cant see any example sentences and there is a strange empty space above the draw area Also the graphics are not optimized for iPhone 6 so everything is low resolution Skritter developers 加油 I want the example sentences back that you worked so hard to put in in the first place                 Skritter is amazing

I thought about subscribing but there seem to be many bugs left to be worked out Text doesnt display in the reading sections     Too many bugs

I am studying Chinese full time in a class with students who have been writing much longer than me and I caught up with them by using Skritter I only use the writing function about 30 mins a day feel like I work a lot less harder than my classmates with the same or better results Sometimes I cant write out on paper the characters I learned with the app but most of the time I can I actually only use paper in class because we have to the app is a lot more convenient I just passed 1000 characters after 6 months just gonna keep on going D 1 yr update passed 1500 characters still Skrittering                 Awesome

Learning Chinese takes a lot of work at least for me This app has probably given me more results for the time and effort spent than any other tool or study method After two years of use and about 7000 words I still think this app is amazing and am delighted that it has helped me to get as far as Ive come                 Favorite app

This is the best tool that exists for learning Hanzi 汉子 andor Kanji 漢字 I use the Heisig method and the seamless transition between study and review has been made possible by Skritter shout out to Pleco as well and continues to kickstart my learning on a daily basis I owe the majority of my renewed passion for mastering Chinese to Skritter お陰様で Nuff Said                 The Best Study App Period

If you are studying Chinese you must get this app and subscribe to the service If youre not using Skritter then youre not learning Chinese The only downside to the app is that it looks a bit iOS 6y Id love to see a visual refresh happen eventually                 Couldnt ask for more

I liked the idea of Skritter but I was initially turned off by the monthly fee Once I tried it I was even more interested but the cost still seemed an issue I bit the bullet though and paid for my first month I am three weeks in to Skritter and I am fully sold Next month I will pay for the 6 month package which is a big savings Why the change of heart To practice My Chinese in all the wasted moments of the day the bus standing in line even in the bathroom no shame The app is well balanced ad introduces new characters at the perfect rate for me and quizzes me just enough due to its amazing spaced repetition software There are there SRS apps out there what justifies the cost The execution of this is simply better customizable but not overwhelmingly so and it focuses on just writing which imo is the hardest thing to test yourself on and push yourself to improve And of course the textbooks You can make your own decks but skritter gives you unlimited access to literally hundreds of textbooks made into character decks instantly It has removed every single excuse I have not to practice And the absolute best part of all even if I unsubscribe I get to keep my progress and practice all of my words All you lose is the ability to add new words I dont know about you but I am only kicking myself for not starting months ago Try it out you will see                 Best Thing Ever

The app is very well designed but you can get better for your money Paying monthly for what essentially is a bunch of flashcards is a bit too much One time fee would be better Save your money for pleco        Overpriced

Its nearly everything I could ask for in terms of a vocab study app it works much like an awesome set of flash cards which prompt for tonedefinitionwriting practice The two features I wish were better developed are their list system and the cursive aspects of writing The list system seems designed for continuous use to build vocabulary in one giant pool and although it allows for some switching I feel it doesnt track progress as well The other is there are some writing habits which the app doesnt recognize eg writing the first two strokes of 不 in one motion That said those are just nitpicking on an overall fantastic app Ive never spent more than a few dollars on an app before and skritter convinced me to drop 60              Best study app Ive found

While the app has some promising features and keeps the attention level high and provides a reasonable learning experience the 15 USD month is a joke considering you get full professional language packages for less on average A fair pricing would be more like 15 USDyear max        Pricing is off

Skritter is an absolutely amazing flash cards app The interface for writing Chinese characters works gives good feedback And with this version everything is back in working order                 Back on working order

The most remarkable thing about this app is that all the reviews were written by one person At first it was weird to realize that the first couple were by the same user then it became puzzling and finally I found it pretty hilarious and I gave up reading the reviews at all because they were useless being a collection of writing by either the developer or hisher cousin If the reviews hadnt been so obviously fake I might have actually tried the app but as it is I only downloaded it in order to point out to prospective users that these reviews are worthless and this probably means that the app is as empty as the fictional characters who wrote these reviews Try letting the app sell itself on merit     Deception

I read an earlier review about it being a fake app and it kinda pushed me a little back because there are a lot in the app store I really have been desperate to find something though and it offered a one week free trial on the website so I figured what do I have to lose After using it for two days and checking out their forum and how it links to the pleco app Im really sold on this app                 Its exactly what I needed to get back into studying Chinese

The characters dont display for readings and the graphics have actually become a lot choppier and slower whereas before it was slick and flawless Do not update your version until it is fixed     Dont update to this version
