Sign Language for Beginners: Introduction is the first title in the Sign Language for Beginners series, a fun and effective way to learn essential communication in American Sign Language. Much more than just an ASL ...
I love it except that the movies are sometimes to fast for me to follow and everytime I hit done instead of going back to the menu it closes the app do I have to keep reopening it        Great but closes
The only issue Im having is that the signer is signing too quickly Its kind hard to keep up so I end up repeating the video alot Other than that the app has a really good vocabulary and has a lot of common everyday expressions and phrases Worth the dollar              Pretty good
No bugs or glitches for me App loads fast and shows video with a written description of the action I bought part 2 after completing this app It has helped me a lot                 Best ASL app
There is no back button when reviewing each word or phrase The only option is done which exits you from the app and then you have to reopen the app again to get to the next word or phrase very frustrating     ASL Disappointment
Really helpful A good way to learn the basics Worth a dollar                 Sweet
Everytime I try to go back it kicks me out completely looks like a solid app if it worked     Crash
This app is great And may I suggest ANYONE can learn sign language I just got this app today and Im alrdy signing alot of stuff like I wish you knew how I feel AND IM A BEGINNER I love it so much I just downloaded the part 2 version I hope its as good as this one but theres a one thing thts not a big thing well its just tht soemtimes it exited out of the app by its self which get annoying                 Love it
It needs an up date with more words please please           Needs more please100
When you tap on done sometimes you go back to the previous screen which is what you want and other times it takes you all the way out of the app Its only 99 or Id ask for my money back        Just ok
Resolved all the 50 issues for me This is a great app and along with Part 2 provides a nice start learning ASL                 This is a great app Thanks for listening
Looking for an ASL app with a bit more than just vocabulary I would suggest that this app and Part 2 be combined into one app with more content Please put out Part 3                 Perfect for me
It would be better if she didnt sign so fast I cant follow           Okay
This is a nice piece of software but there isnt enough content or indexing to be worth any money There are other free apps that give much more content for free I wont be buying the next installments unless they reconfigure the app        Nice but not worth 099
Ive been losing my hearing over the past few years to Menieres Disease and now has become substantial enough to affect coversation watching televisionmovies my alarm clock and even hearing someone at the door At this same time I became more aware coincidentally of deaf culture documentaries movies bands and the new show Switched at Birth which for its own reasons I love but it also helped me understand a bit more into the world I am facing but do not yet completely have a grasp on and lead me to research ways to teach myself As well as watching repeat episodes to with captioning to help me in a quizlike fashion Lol Being just over schoolage and nowhere near being a senior citizen but at same time unable to work for medical reasons I can not afford real classes yet so I eventually found the world of apps And let me say I tried ALL of the free ones and a few of the higher rated nonfree ones both for alphabet signing wordsphrases history and facial expression I have to say in the 20 minutes since loading this one and going through it like a kid and presents on Christmas Day I know it is by far THE all around best for beginners My other close favorites 2 of the other higher rated nonfree ones not by this co arent all that reliable crashes alot missing some signs etc Sign Language for Beginners isnt dumbed down for beginners like some others are or too fastit is smart with their variety of ways to understand a single sign ie being historical reference in how a sign became what it stands for which Ive been a angsting for not only video with replay but an icon of the hand position before being put into motion Its great I LOVE it It is an awesome tool the variety helps me to memorize much better and is also very interesting I know I can not ultimately learn ASL completely by app or book or website but until I have the resources to take true classes this has been a lifesaver Thank You and please keep up the good work UPDATED REVIEW Since first writing the above review on Nov 20 2011 the only negative Ive noticed about this app is that between the three of my top usedfavorite more complete styles of ASLApps each have a few of the same words andor phrases signed completely differently from each other with no explanation Which is the most updatedcorrect App I do not want to embarrass myself or insult a Deaf person because of three different apps signing things differently Is it regional If so say so on each app for which region Is it old signs that have been updated but some still sign with older ones just like American language changing over 20 30 40 years I would appreciate any response to this dilemma I must say though I do NOT have any problems like the other reviewers wrote about loading or crashing on this App this one runs smoothly I wish the others did I appreciate the multioption learning tools they provide I have an iPhone 4 completely updated to my Mac if that helps explain to anyone                 UPDATED below Best iPhone app for adult beginners yet
It exits out of the app and I have to keep starting all over           Once I click done after every single link
I should have read the reviews first Spoke to the developer of this App Said he couldnt refund Bull Dont buy from his company One star us to much should be 0     Dont BUY
I love this app I havent had the money for classes and since this app is 1 its great for my budget and my needs on the contrary it crashes when I hit done and it gets to where Im annoyed and dont want to use it If that were gone Id use this app even more           Love it But it crashes too much
Not able to use the app since upgrading to os4 Please fix asap Its painful to pay for something that doesnt work     Os4issues
There is basically nothing in here like stupid 15 random signs How about intro by the alphabets and numbers BUT part 2 is better Skip this one and get 2     This is a total rip off
excellent beginners app              good
its ok but when i click to go back to the main menu it takes me out completely     ok
Works great on my iPad I like the approach to learning Part 2 is great also                 Great App
I bought this because I was looking for a child friendly asl app that wasnt too basic So far am happy with it for my daughter to use to learn asl Video is nice and so far no problems with crashing Will also buy part 2                 Nice lesson by lesson app
The app crashes almost every time you hit done but if you dont mind entering and exiting a bunch of times then its a good app It has a lot of signs but could use some crash support        Crashes
I bought this app and part two I was disappointedevery time I press the blue words to see how to do it I get kick out Need to fix it or I want my money back        Fix it for my iPhone 4
Someone help me Every time I click on a blue word the app closes completely Idk if I am doing something wrong Please tell me if I am Thanks              Having a problem
This is real ASL not Sign English Fun lesson and real video with neat instructions below Can go by lesson or indexdictionary Very sweet Thanks for the upgrade                 Now works great on my iPod running 40
I love this app and its approach to teaching ASL Simple and straightforward Having no difficulties running on my iPhone OS 40                 Terrific
It crashes when I watched a word and tap a new lesson once I learn it and want to tap done it crashes Crash crash crash crash crash FIX THIS        Good but crashes
I wouldve give five stars for 2 reasons if it had set one and two together and dat the advanced came wit it              Man I love it
I had been looking for a way to begin sign language so that I could communicate with a new friend This app and the 2nd in the series is a good start Would like to see more advanced lessons              Useful App
Along with the 2nd part these apps really helped me approach ASL By providing more than just a sign language dictionary you can begin to get a feel how to put together sentences for proper grammar on your own I like the format A good beginning at a good price                 A great tool for the price
Wow what a great app I took sign language in college and am now looking to freshen up on my sign language skills This is by far the best app I found that teaches you how to communicate using ASL during everyday conversations I immediately bought part 2 and am anxiously waiting for a part 3 with more vocabulary Two thumbs up to the developers                 Love it
Alot of the videos play to fast to understand exactly what you should do If you could add the ability to adjust speed I will give it 5 stars              Awesome but
Previously I was very upset with this app because it would crash every time I tried to view the lessons However after the last update I was at least able to view two of the videos which was better than nothing but it continues to crash        Still not working properly
Its possible that if you have iOS4 there will be some compatibility issues Wait it out and see if the developer comes up with an update Thats what Im doing Obviously those who didnt experience crash issues liked it so you might too              iOS4
I have to say that this app was a really easy way to start learning ASL Part two definitely makes it worth it Cant wait for part 3 to come out                 Really good app
This app is 1 which is cheap compared to other apps with ASL however the information hardly any is REALLY outdated Many of these signs are from the 70s Crap     Outdated
Its a great app it just needs to stop crashing pease fix           It keeps crashing
Not liking it     Its crashing again
I like it it just doesnt have enough signs And some are different from the asl dictionary from the Internet Crashes to much almost every time I go to the next page it crashes           Ok
Very helpful                 Like it
Everyone has a different approach to learning and I find that this app presents the language in an intelligent and interesting way I like having a framework with which to begin learning not just learn individual words The next app in the series Part 2 is excellent also Im using a new iPod running 40 and this new version works great                 I like this approach
This is a good approach for a beginner to learn the language and made me feel appreciative of signing right from the start Its not the amount of words or lessons but the orientation of the app that I like I tend not to expect too much from 99 cent apps this app combined with the Part II that is also offered as a follow up is a nice introduction to ASL Part 3 would be welcome              Nicely done
This helped me alot to talk to my new best friend lilly At first i didnt even care about sign launguage at all yea i new the alphapet but that was only cause we had to learn it Then my mom told my that a deaf girl moved into our neighborhood and so i looked around for a good cheap sign laungage app and i saw this one and i couldnt help but learn it all Its simple and FUN thanks to this app lilly is my best friend                 THIS APP HELPS ALOT
So far this is a great app Worth it              Nice
I work with people with signifiant disabilities include hearing impaired This app has helped me to begin the communication The videos are clear and easy to undestand                 Very Helpful
His helped me so much the second one is great too Im doing so well its so good for beginners                 Great app
Good app Would suggest presenting a means to have the video also move in slow motion Some signs move too fast to learn the exact movements To show the video first in slow motion and then at a natural speed would really be helpful Still would recommend              sign language
The app has a glitch or is crashing           Glitch or crashing
