This app is great The developer is constantly updating and improving the app Very quick to respond to questions Highly recommended              Great app
I have been clinging to Stanza but it is dying a slow death Thought will start looking at alternatives again Last time I did was a year back I just went back to Stanza and Stanza with its bare minimum update was still the best app for a reader This time I might stay with this Has a lot of what stanza has My only two requests that will make it a lot better for me Status some how to notify user which book you have started reading Which book u r completely done with If there is an easy way to enable it let me know Scroll the scroll in the book is by chapter wish there are two or another option to change it to the whole book so u can get to the end of book easily Or any where else in the book easily              Stanza alternative
Almost a fully usable replacement for the perfection of Stanza Even the speed of the page transitions is most responsive out of all the other alternatives iBooks for instance has the most annoying half a second lag I have two gripes that I hope the devs will soon fix 1 Customizable night theme Why do we have to be locked into white text I find that red text on black background is much more readable in the dark than white Also in the night theme when you flip the back of the page is white and it produces an unpleasant flash in the dark 2 Page transition dynamics Whats with the diagonal flip No book I know other than loose leaf printouts with a staple in the corner flips that way make it flip sideways devs The sticky flip would be good too when you can grab the edge and drag slowly while the page follows your finger gives you a feel of a real book I am sure the developers are listening to the suggestions and will incorporate the popular ones soon ShuBooks can have a real future But hurry up cuz MarvelApp just entered the fray in the iPad ebook reader world and their app rocks Before too long theyll be making an iPhone app              Almost Stanza
This should be the 1 ebook reading app I hope it never ever disappears When I found ShuBook last year I was delighted and still am by its range of customization features The key for me is the ability to upload your own font files which makes the reading experience so much more enjoyable than any other app The only things I would add are ability to customize the night mode colors and an option to swipe vertically to flip pages                 Still the best reading app
Still love the app but there are still features sorely missing for larger libraries There needs to be a way to group books by series and sort within the group by series This feature is still missing and is needed to make this a truly great app The user sort is not enough Thanks and I hope this feature is implemented soon              Great eReader but
My only two complaints are that it doesnt play nice with Calibres plugboards feature and it doesnt let me transfer tags from Calibre so I can sort on them Otherwise the book formatting is highly customizable and the app has almost all the features I love in Stanza              Nearly perfect
customizable and doesnt crash                 Works well
Best Ebook reader next to Stanza Fully customizable Fonts text color size it has it all Able to beautifully view books in library and and search through library Full book blurbsynopsis And best of all it works with calibre and able to hold large library counts at once without fail                 Best Reader
Very user friendly and comfortable reading                 Best Reading app ever
Newest version does NOT remember where you were in the book you have to manually bookmark what a pain in the patootie Previous to this update I loved this app other than the by title sorting not allowing you to jump around the alphabet which is a pain if you have more than a few books which I do     Memory loss
Kudos to the developer The program now exports its bookmarks along with its books You can save copies of them manually in two ways Do an iTunes export from within the app Settings iTunes File Sharing Export books You will then see the books in iTunes but also a folder called Books Thats the one you can drag and drop to your desktop and that has the bookmarks in it You can also use a program such as Disk Aid on your desktop to browse the idevice and inside ShuBook SEs documents folder find the same Books folder But neither method should be needed as the standard iTunes synching backs it all up now What this means is that a backup and later restore should return you all your books with their bookmarks Of course if you have lots of bookmarks and highlights youll want to use the iTunes book folder tip This is a functioning customizable welcoming appit is in the league of the venerable Stanza Ive jumped my rating from 2 back to 4 stars Now a much more modern more fully featured ereaderapp is Marvin yet it has its own share of issues While there are features one wishes fordirect tap on a word for a dictionary lookup and not a paragraph it shares that same problem with Stanza although Stanza highlighted the wordShuBook SE requires you to hunt through the paragraphand the interface is convoluted in certain places all the multiple ways of downloading seem a jumble to the nonprogrammer its truly an excellent ereader Heres my prior review showing you just how bad things had gotten But the developer put in the legwork and fixed it OLD REVIEW Lost all my books and bookmarks after a restore iTunes importexport no longer works This is a wonderful ebook reader filled with features However disaster struck Cannot believe it I restored from a backup via iTunes same iOS and it lost all my books There went 3 months of reading and marking passages Argh What a Christmas present I did some more investigating it seems that unlike most every other app on the planet ShuBook SE does NOT back up most of its files Hence youre likely to lose all your booksAs to your bookmarks Well forget about em Even if one uses a backup extractor all you end up with is the Library folder and no eBooks or bookmarks Today day after Christmas I discovered that its UNABLE to export its books via iTunes Nothing shows up It also refused to permit any books to be loaded via iTunes I reinstalled 341 and the iTunes importexport worked again Then after I upgraded to 351 again the importexport stopped working once more Somethings gone terribly awry with 351 Obnoxiously however it keeps prompting me to upgrade back to the more recent version Note even the old version does NOT synch books or bookmarksthats really a poor design in what is otherwise a brilliantly crafted ereader app Im still using the venerable Stanza as my other ebook reader even though its ancient unlike ShuBook SE it preserved virtually all the books and virtually all the bookmarks You can load up books via iTunes without a hitch and on a restore virtually all the books are there again Do a more technically sophisticated backup extraction and youll discover the same Wow Stanza hasnt been developed or worked on for years yet it can do this all with aplomb However Stanzaa search ability and settings are broken so I suppose its time to give Marvin a whirl In the meantime Im looking forward to a fix from the Shubook SE developer              Superb ebook reader great features and prior issue fixed
v397 This is a good app allaround with nice customization direct support for Calibres catalog server and a good library interface My ondevice library is over 500 MB and it works great Importing that 500 MB via iTunes file sharing took awhile but it worked fine Im very disappointed that it appears that I have to spend 4 on this apps successor in order to get iPhone 6 screen support which dropped my rating from 4 to 3 stars           Good ebook reader
I was looking for a placement for Stanza since that is no longer being developed and has a lot of problems Ive been using this app intensively for several days now and this even makes Stanza look like just another app The best thing about this is that it can download books directly from my PC from my book catalog I use Calibre which is free and very powerful without using iTunes Since syncing my books individually in iTunes deletes everything on my iPad Im happy with this solution Im able to download which of my books I want and leave the rest Ive downloaded 144 so far without a single problem The app has gobs of settings you can view your books in a list which is so much easier than looking by book cover when you have a over 120 books installed You can modify how you view the page with over a dozen different settings including paragraph indent line spacing and hyphenation There are lots of features for reading including reversing the color to white on black booksmarks of course zoom etc including a one just for reading Chinese Japanese and Korean books It supports PDF file and works fine although there isnt a zoom function I havent had the need for it yet as all my books in this format look perfect within the app It does have the ability to reload the PDF file though I dont know why you would need that But I have an amazing PDF reader that I use for all my PDF files so if I need to do something elaborate Ill use that The only tool it doesnt have is the ability to take notes inside the app But I can make due without that just using an external notepad app because Shubook is just so much better than anything else out there I highly recommend it                 blows the others out of the wareer
My favorite ebook app without comparison This app stepped into the vacancy left by Stanza and in some respects surpassed it The interface is very intuitive I love that we can load user fonts My one request is that the color scheme configuration interface that is available for the day colors also be accessible to configure night colors Well done Ambibma                 Excellent
Please fix as soon as possible and Ill change my review to 5 stars right away I like the app but without this feature its pretty much useless Thank you     Crashes while trying to download from an OPDS catalog
I gave MegaReader a go but two things kept me from sticking with it the limited book source customizations you could add opds catalogs but not plain web sources and the lack of a paragraph indent option Without indents it just wasnt a comfortable reading experience for me Id tried Shubook back in October when iOS 5 first came out and Stanza was killed but it was considerably less fullfeatured than it is now I gave it another try when I saw that it was being regularly updated and developed and Im beyond impressed with how the app has turned out Its very Stanzalike both in the user experience and in the focus on providing very flexible customization options If thats important to you in an ereading app then I absolutely recommend Shubook                 best Stanza replacement
I bought this and theres NOTHING there Where are the books     Shubook
The best book reader Ive found since Stanza Im sad to see Stanza die but ShuBook is a good replacement Most important to me ShuBook supports selectdefine using the builtin iOS dictionary and has native brightness swipe control I also like the ability to use my own fonts Great for reading epub PDF support less stellar other formats may be supported but I had particularly bad luck with txt formatting The developers are very responsive and quickly respond to feature requests and even implement the requested features              If you loved Stanza
Thank you for all your help and for resolving my I phone app issue This is one app that all avid readers should have Great support team also                 Great app
This is the greatest site for all kinds of books I hope I never have to be without it                 Great reading
I was afraid there never would be a successor to stanza but this works even better than it Works with caliber well too Great work                 I really like this it does everything I liked about Stanza but with more stability
Great app until the latest updates made it 17 If you share your device with your kids and have restrictions turned on you will no longer be able to use the app           17 Why
ShuBook would be a great replacement for the now tragically defunct Stanza if only it were reliable and its interface better organized I want to love it but it crashes frequently when opening ePubs other readers access without problems The books it it does read often have display with formatting problems eg no paragraph spacing that cant be overridden and arent visible in other readers Further its interface is cluttered to an annoying degree with various languagerelated options that dont need such high visual priority Worse its development cycle seems glacial Its one serious revision for reliability and elegance away from being the best reader app for iOS until then Its ok Pity           Almost
I love ShuBook SE and use it exclusively for all my document and book reading needs There are several improvements I could wish for but mostly I am very happy However when this latest version updated my previous version I lost my whole library of 300 books and documents some of which I had not transferred yet because ShuBook mkes that a little bit awkward and time consuming Is there a way for me to get them back              Lost my WHOLE Library in this update
