Needs an update bad keeps crashing and if you leave the program it mysteriously goes back several moves Was great before        Super buggy in ios 8

This is the best chess app Ive ever used The individual rating system lets one play an even match with the program rather than getting slaughtered by a powerful computer Go for it youll enjoy its many features whether beginner or genius                 Great look and features

This is not a universal app I bought this for my phone then later bought an iPad and discovered I had to rebuy this if i wanted it on the iPad I went with Chess Pro with Coach instead Since its universal I have both Shredder and Chess Pro on my phone and of the two I find I play Chess Pro more        One problem

Buyers should be aware that as of 9282014 Shredder does not perform reliably under ios8 It freezes frequently     ios8 Problems

The actual strength of Shredder is most impressive which I personally attest to based on sudo matches against HIACS which is rated 350 ELO points higher That is Shredder even won a game with the white pieces Two problems do exist though Shredder has a design format that is iPhone oriented which looks skewed on an iPad not to mention that the interface layout leaves a little to be desired More frustrating is that the standard Openings played by Shredder are very coffeehouse Still a strong computer with an obnoxious personality makes for a very good training partnerAgain for the consumer if you get annoyed or board with Coffeehouse Openings you can of course program your choice Great but flawed              Coffeehouse Champ

First of all best program out there From features to usability this is the one periodLove the puzzle section and just packed with every feature you need What was a pleasant surprise to me was the support I sent an email and got a reply in less than two hours Where else are you going to find support this good Outstanding in every way                 Simply the best

Since iOS8 if my iPhone is shut off during a game the app locks up solid must be reloaded        Problems of a once good app

I absolutely loved this app Until latest update continually makes my elo 4503 and therefore makes Shredder 2600 Needless to say Im not a grand master and I cant use this app anymore without getting crushed Please fix it and I will update my review     Needs to be fixed

Great app I love the tactics problems and Shredders auto adjust to the humans playing strength I only wish they would change the notation to simple algebraic meaning Qd1 instead of Qa5d1 A minor issue though              Superb

I played chess quite a bit back in high school a few decades ago and I wanted to get back into playing After trying several chess apps I find that Shredder is my favorite Not only does it feel fun I love how it calculates my rating after every game quantifying my progress After a few days with the lite app I upgraded to the full version                 Love playing with Shredder

This is not worth of 800 app Compare at other chess engines for 100 its weaker Not to mention when set strength at highest level does not appear to be the realistic highest grandmaster level This engine is beatable by other cheaper app engines        This App Too expensive

Overall it is a good app It will be great if it can support Open and save game in png format from email attachment Support email multiple gamesnot all Support game recording backup to popular cloudbox sky drive google drive and drop box           Good app but needs improvements

Update I no longer have access to opening books When I try to open and view the possible selections for openings I get a blank page with lines Openings are one of the biggest reasons why I loved this app and now its gone Please fix this ASAP and the app will be perfect again like it once was        Played the lite version

Since iOS 8 came out I am having so many issues with this app It works but it has this instability sort of When typing into the fields I cannot see where I am going to type next letter No blinking of a cursor nothing There are other issues like getting hung for a second It works as a Chess engine but not as an iOS app When it will be fixed I will then adjust my review accordingly I am waiting already too long for an update     Was one of the best but

1 Liked the 100 problems on the free app so much that I took a crowbar to my wallet and shelled out the 799 for the additional 900 problems Was looking for a cheaper app with more problems There used to be an app with 1200 problems but I could no longer find it These problems are just right for a 1900 rated player like me but might be too difficult for weaker players There needs to be different levels of problems BTW because the free app selects random order for the problems there were 28 repeats out of a 100 2 I think that the user interface could be simpler The symbol does not seem intuitive Took me awhile to find the analysis mode Need a 1 step method of going from problem to analysis mode Would like to be able to cut and paste games 3 Didnt like the default colors but fortunately you can change them Prefer the graphics and user interface on tChess 4 Like the strong engine for analysis Havent done any playing yet 5 Mel1995 seems to be describing a different app I have seen none of these problems              LDalog boxes unresponsive under iOS 8

Love the app Especially love the puzzles but the only thing that I find rather irritating is that points get deducted at the same rate for all of them whether a puzzle consists of multiple moves or a single move There must be some correction as to how points get awarded according to the puzzle difficulty That would only be logical and fair right              Great App

While using hotspot boardmenu is not displayed properly and it is not playable Many apps handle hotspot correctly Been that way a while now You would expect a better for a paid app Chess Genius does it correctly     Hotspot conflict

A really great chess app overall but two annoyances keep me from giving it five stars 1 When setting up a scenario and playing as black Shredder automatically rotates the board so that black moves up the screen when you start play If this isnt what you want you have to manually flip the board back and if youre willing to live with it you set yourself up for annoyance 2 2 When your board is rotated and you go to set up a new scenario it stays rotated even if you clear the board and you cant flip it back from the scenario editor This means you a forget its rotated and waste time setting up the position completely reversed b try to set up the position upside down or c exit the scenario editor manually flip the board and then go back into the editor Given that one of the main things I want this app for is playing out scenarios these annoyances knock off a star Fix them and its easily fivestars the best chess app around              Great overall two annoyances

Fonts are blurry and UI is fuzzy please fix     Not optimized for iPhone 6

Simply the best 10 Ive ever spent on chess and Ive spent a lot of on chess computers programs books etc Except latest release is just shutting down immediately on my 4s iPhone When this is fixed Ill glow again about this program Very ver strong player when it works     Worth it by far

It adjusts the difficulty after every match according to your playing strength Id love to see a feature for adjusting the puzzle difficulty as well because some of them are easy and some are really hard                 One of the best chess apps

One feature I would love to see is an option that would hide the hint button If you exit game to settings to change this back you loose shredder tracking your ELOgame I just find the hint button a bit tempting to see if Ive really chosen the best move and would enjoy an option to hide it Original Review This is by far the best chess app for the iPhone I have become a much stronger player because of it It adapts to your playing so you are always playing at an equal level and it rates your progress Well done devs I wish there was a way to upload famous pgn games to study                 Amazing
