Shakespeare app is outstanding particularly with vocal sonnets and synopses of characters for plays I had the privilege of using a test version of this app for a short while and am delighted to see it offered in the App Store Consider the Pro version for even more ways of enjoying Shakespeare                 Bravo

I really like this app but it CONSTANTLY bugs me to review it Theres even a switch in Settings to turn off review reminders but the switch doesnt make any difference It also bugs me to review the Pro version which I cannot possibly do because I upgraded to Pro via an inapp purchase After a month has passed with no review reminders I will update this review and comment on the app itself rather than the developers misguided attempts to get reviews from users     Would have been 5 stars except

I have never been so harassed by an app after paying for the pro version and the option to disable begging for reviews doesnt work Cant comment on the rest of the features because I have written off my investment and uninstalled it Seriously annoying and unnecessary crapware     Pro version is nagware

This app is a good nofrills way to catch up with your Shakespeare or just review that favorite scene The upgrades worth it for the built in dictionary though the lines can be a little distracting when the intext vocabulary is enabled Knocked off a couple stars for the obnoxious reminders to write a review in the App Store           Good way to check in with the bard

I made the 999 inapp purchase and am now trying to get a refund from Apple iTunes somehow doesnt recognize that Ive made the pro purchase so Im stuck writing a review here Trying to contact app support was a nightmare Trying to open the settings for the app on your iPad When you go to settings and then Shakespeare you will have a blank page Trying to get help for the app You are redirected to the Playshakespeare page where it makes you create a profile including your gender and your favorite play before it will let you submit a help ticket Only guess what you cant actually submit a help ticket because that too is a blank page The app does not let you highlight lines that are spoken by more than one character So if you want to highlight a line say that Othello says followed by that Desdemona says you actually have to make two separate notes for the two speeches You also must make a note or highlighting is not saved     One star for app support Id give zero if I could

This used to be a great app and it could be still the design is tasteful the UI easy the array of Shakespearian works complete But now an ugly red bar appears over every play or sonnet and asks the user to go PRO The distraction is considerable Very disappointed           Beautiful content but nags to upgrade

I paid for the pro edition specifically for the line numbers We use them a lot in my class But the line numbers are weird Sometimes they number every single line like in most books many times the have one number for a whole speech A 50 line soliloquy needs more than one line number           Its ok

Wow what a disappointment The last time I looked at this it was fairly useful but now theres a huge ugly distracting bright red banner at the top of every page urging me to UPGRADE TO PRO If you give me a usable free version and the option to upgrade if I need the additional features fine If you try to nag or annoy me into upgrading not a chance     Delete

For some reason the basic version consistently crashes about 5 seconds after loading I am reluctant to upgrade to the expensive pro edition in view of this unaddressed problem     Crashes

I enjoyed this app due to its attention to detail its accurate glossary and its extensive variety of plays poems and other works by Shakespeare It was also very user friendly and was easily navigable                 Shakespeare app review for Mr Coker

Love this app Have used it on my phone for four some years Could be faster and tailored for iOS 7 but its clearly the best app for Shakespeare on the iPhone so cheers to it              Clearly the best Shakespeare app on the market

In bold red it keeps on suggesting me to upgrade to Shakespeare Pro Its hard to just enjoy reading a play or looking up specific lines if a good chunk of the screen is distracting And its ALWAYS there Id rather pay for a different Shakespeare app just to spite the makers of this one     Annoying

Not just in popups in the app which is lousy enough when apps do it No this app will use notifications to repeatedly harangue you to leave them a review Well heres your review     Will endlessly harass you to review it

I went straight to Pro when I got this so I cant speak to the basic features dont know whats not included I can run lines find quotes across the plays just with one or two words and compare language usage Quick and useful for study acting teaching writing papers high school students to professors Ease of interface improves with use I imagine there are other apps that do same or similar but Im content with this                 Useful for all levels

I really really hate vendors that throw up nag screens asking for ratings Its bad enough in their own apps but unconscionable to use the notification system for nagging Apple clearly didnt design it for that purpose So heres my rating one star You asked for it you got it     I detest nag screens

App is great but the developers should really update it with retina display graphics for the iPhone 5 Currently the buttons are pixelated and the app doesnt fill the screen              Needs an update for iPhone 5 Retina Display

The crashes reported in my original review occurred after I tried to download the app but the download failed because over 100MB and not on WiFi Appears the failed download may have left the already existing app in a corrupted state           UPDATE 501 Crashes Every Launch

This was a wonderful app for the occasional Shakespeare read Alas its now been upgraded to include a distracting large red banner across the top of the screen one that stays in place while you are reading the plays Thats both visually irritating and distracting but also interferes with reading in the evening or at night when one wants to have a darker screen They were much more professional and aesthetically pleasing before when they simply had a small red upgrade button in the upper righthand part of the screen when you were looking at the titles of the place Whats more they took away the ability to search ALL of the plays for particular terms phrases or words Instead now it only searches so far and then it stops with an advertisement for you to upgrade Theyve also now filled the settings screen where you could select different fonts font sizes and colors and instead sprinkled it with many other features with upgrade notices and again red bold screaming buttons Sure the original settings choices are there but you have to scroll way down the screen This is simply tawdry Instead of encouraging people to upgrade its driving many of us to look for other Shakespeare play apps I understand the reasons for doing this wanting to capitalize on their Shakespearean app but taking away features and adding irritating ad banners cheapens it all Even the upgrade at 10 is too steep By the way if they were going to entice people for that kind of money they should at least have options for how to turn pages meaning that we wouldnt have to scroll up and down the page but could instead simply tap on the right side of the screen to advance by page or the left to go back        Upgrade took away features Horrible RED banner etc

I downloaded the basic free app three times I did this because each time Id open it the app would immediately crash I tried to tell this to tech support but I had to sign up and they never sent my email the activation code to validate my user name I had them resend it twice and checked my spambulk mail each time but nothing I want this app and would pay the 10 for the Pro version if I knew it would work on my phone but for now I dont know what to do     Basic app doesnt work no tech support

I am not able to post quotes to Facebook anymore even after I bought the app           Help

I like the app Complete texts are handy when traveling The search functions work well I even like the daily quotes I also didnt like being bugged for a review but when I finally said No Thanks they stopped              Good travel companion

The best thing is the search Theres no better way to find something The study materials are great too This is a musthave app for anyone who likes Shakespeare or wants to know more                 The best Shakespeare app by far

The visuals are fantastic but in terms of performance here are a few items that need improved when you click on a word to be defined and after you close it the menu appears after a few seconds which is annoying I wish there was a percentage of how far along you are in the play there needs to be a better highlighting feature for quotes that jump out at you there needs to be an easy way to pull down the scene outline a standard dictionary for nonShakespeare words needs to be added and finally the app should save your place after closing beyond the bookmarks feature If some of these features do exist please let me know           Great app but needs some improvements

Clicked on Love Labours Lost then Scene Breakdown once here you cant navigate back to the menu The top of the screen is covered with the Upgrade to Premium option which I dont want before testing the free version out     Doesnt work

This has been a wonderful app which I have used regularly and with great pleasure The latest upgrade is a disaster Every page is now dominated by a large red banner inviting you to upgrade to the pro version Its unpleasant distracting and tacky     Spoiled a good thing

Used to like this a lot until it was made intolerable by an update that removed features and put a permanent red banner at the top inviting me to pay 1000 to unhose my previously delightful app Not Cool     Go with something else

About a month after purchase a screaming red bar appears blocking off part of your screen and wont go away until you buy the 999 version Otherwise its nifty        Ye olde bait and switch

Im using a fourth generation iPod Touch with the latest version of iOS 6 The app crashes on startup It is unusable     Still crashes

I love this app but until they address the problem with line numbering I wont rate it above a two Why They have line numbering which is goodvery difficult to find on the web and in such a convenient package but they count half lines as full lines and this issue must be addressed Scholars know that line numbers are very consistent across various texts and publishers Readdle should be no different By the way I upgraded inapp to Readdle Pro        Incorrect line numbering Counts half lines as full lines

To have Shakespeare on the iPad is great I like the little stylings of classical or modern icons for each play I upgraded to full wanting to see what the annotations are like for 999 comparing to other versions interpretations is a bargain for the complete works but not a huge value add if one has other versions Nice to be able to quickly access a given act or scene and search for text I must say the quote of the day or is it the quote of the turning on the device has grown on me especially seeing the odd quote that has become an English idiom oh that Shakespeare The incessant ask to be reviewed has gotten annoying of late so I here write this In short at the long of it a good reference guide for the complete works I would only recommend full version if one wants the thorough version but I could see the asks for full getting annoying              Useful resource
