SEAiq USA is the only marine charting app with free up-to-date vector charts for the USA and territorial waters. SEAiq USA uses the high quality vector charts that NOAA publishes and updates on a daily basis. ...
Ive used Seaiq for two years now and wild give it high marks It integrates with Active Captain and can be used with no internet connection All maps are free from NOAA and the app periodically checks for updates              Great companion
Great way to have downloaded charts for any region available when offline or not in range of cell The chart update feature is something not found in many other apps I use this as my go to app for planning boating routes                 Awesome
Automatic updating of charts Active Captain integration and ease of use make this the best chart app Ive tried Move over Earth NC                 Excellent Charting App
Easy to use upfront with more features uncovered once one reads the online manual and delves into the help files found with different entries in the settings menu I use SeaIQ on my non3G iPad 2 with an external GPS Bad Elf Pro GPS This program offers a lot of information from the NOAA ENC vector charts displaying some of the information on the chart itself and other information when you doubletap on an area of interest It had no problems tracking position using northup or headsup formats while sailing in Puget Sound and Lake Washington and its ability to let one colorcode water depth to ones specification allows me to see what areas would be offlimits to my boat given the boats draft Only criticism would be a somewhat slow redrawing of the charts while zooming inout but that is likely a function of the iPads processing power I am very glad to have come across this app it works well in conjunction with the boats dedicated chartplotter and with paper charts to provide independent redundancies in navigation for this beginning boater                 Works well for boating in Puget Sound
The chart and Active Captain capability are great but it has entire seaport areas with no AIS coverage such as Wilmington NC           Good but limited
This is now my favorite charting and navigation program Even without the AIS feature the user interface and availability of both raster and vector charts are superb The ability to easily download chart updates within a day or two of their publication means your charts are always current and updates are free The AIS feature is a nice addition but as another user noted is dependent on volunteers providing the data feed Here in Los Angeles the nearest data feed is in San Diego and the number of targets displayed depends on propagation Again I highly recommend Sea IQ you wont be disappointed                 Sea IQ Review
We initially loaded this app as a backup to a Garmin chartplotter for racing on Lake Erie By the midpoint of the race Sea IQ was now the main tool used for the race We coupled this with the Bad Elf GPS Pro and together they worked flawlessly The ease of use of the Sea IQ and the intuitive interface allowed any of the crew to pick it up quickly We just used this for the Port Huron to Mackinac Race and it was flawless                 Very Good Product
Terrific app for use on a boat outside range of cell service Charts stored on iPhone or iPad Stability still a bit of an issue but restart and pick up where you left off              Great app
Looks like it might be a useful app but to see San Francisco Bay Charts downloaded from NOAA which are smaller scale than standard coastal charts youll need to buy the 20 upgrade to the 10 app This isnt mentioned anywhere before you spring for the 10 Dont be fooled This is a 30 app Your ten bucks is only a down payment     Bait and switch
I purchased the 999 version of the application It would not open on my iPhone I emailed the developer but have never heard back Very weak customer support not to mention wasting 10 on nothing Dont buy it     App did not work
This app is the best for active captain data you dont get this on the chart plotter great backup connects to my wireless ais I love this more than iNavx and its 50 cost That gets negative stars compared to five I give on this affordable app                 Best active captain app
I was looking for an app that used vector charts as I already have several that use rastercharts From the descriptionSEAiq looked like it would work for me so I gave it a try Big mistake First off downloading of the charts took a very long time App crashed repeatedly while downloading Charts take way too long to load once downloaded They were downloaded over a wifi connection Zooming scrolling panning causes the chart to disappear for 30 seconds to a minute When zooming in or out some features on the map like anchorages change location not good This app is not useable for navigation purposes or even for course plotting offline due to the above reasons I have 20 years of boating experience in salt and fresh water and I feel this app could possibly get someone into a dangerous situation if used by an inexperienced or moderately experienced boater     It looked good from the description
Ive been using this for years and it just keeps getting better Excellent value for the price regular updates current charts and excellent support for the very rare times there is an issue In an early release I found an edge case and had incredible support to get it fixed This is an app I use every day                 Buy this app
I have tried several other apps but SEAiq is by far the easiest I have used SEAiq makes it really easy to keep up to date with NOAA charts for the USA This alone makes the app worth every penny The other apps Ive tried are some combinatation of giant downloads 300MB to get all the charts and they rarely provide updates or they make you pick charts one by one Some of them want you to pay for the charts that NOAA puts out for freeFor SEAiq you just pick the regions you are interested in and it downloads them for you The chart display is really good The colors are crisp and look great on the iPad 3 with super high resolution display It responds quckly to touches on the screen I like how it starts you out with a view of the world just like Google Earth and then you can zoom into the charts you have downloaded It is really easy to update the NOAA charts Every time I have checked NOAA has updated at least one of the charts in my region I had no idea they updated charts that often SEAiq tells me my region has some charts out of date I hit Update and it downloads just the charts that changed That simple The other Apps Ive tried all make this a hassle One of my favorite features is the Details for this Location You click on a buoy and SEAiq gives you a ton of information about it I had no idea there was so much information in these charts All around a great app to have if you do any boating in the US                 User friendly and all around great app
