The Scott brand is a name that stamp collectors know and trust. We are excited to announce The Scott Catalogue is now Mobile The 1 Resource for stamp collectors worldwide is now available on your ...
Ads are distracting as noted there are too many sections and finding the right section is not intuitive Even the introoverview download has five different downloads Ridiculous I expected more from Linns     Terrible
Its pretty good for what it is but I was hoping for more I have the Scott 2009 Catalog PDFs on my iPad in Goodreader and am able to annotate and highlight them which is great for marking the stamps I already have This version doesnt have that option sadly You can search zoom in and provide bookmarks but thats about it This app almost feels like a wrapper for the PDFs On the plus side is the inapp purchases I bough part 1 of the US Specialized catalog for 30 I dont collect duck stamps US territories or UN so I dont need the other half of the The US Specialized book sells for 70 I believe so I managed to save some money by only buying what I need Im hoping when the whole catalog is released I can buy individual countries giving me even more cost savings              Not bad
A disappointing first app for Scott I hoped for much more 1 Section FR3 was not found on the server to download 2 Help says to swipe sideways to change pages but it is actually up and down which is very nonstandard for a book interface 3 Search does not appear to work at least in the free introductions Why wouldnt I be able to do any text search 4 Im disappointed that this is just a reproduction of the printed books This should have some real value added It should be a database type format and include a photo and info on EVERY stamp something you dont have room for in the books It should allow personalization such as checking off which I own or making and printing a want list     Only a copy of catalog pages
Awesome Simply Mobile                 J W
Its great to have these resources digitally but they have along way to go to truly be functional to the collector or dealer 1 You can only search by catalog number not keywords That makes it VERY difficult to jump to the next classification you have to manually scroll through to find areas 2 Bookmarks are lost when sections are archived and retrieved 3 Hard to find what types of stamps are in which section to know at a glance what section to open 4 Cannot search the entire catalog only the tiny portion you are viewing 5 Waste of screen area by ads at bottom Really For a PAID purchase That is annoying If you want to put ads in the free version fine but get the heck out of content Ive paid for           So much potential but a long way to go
The search engine in the Scott Catalog App certainly leaves a lot to be desired From what I can see you can only search on the Scott not a subject If I put in Lake Placid there is no response from the search engine Ive also not been able to find where the subject index is located If Im searching for the Scott for Queen Isabella I cant find it Of course I can always go to my paper Scott Specialized and look in the Subject index Since this is an electronic edition the ideal situation would be having a subject index with each stamp linked to the page its found on If someone were to ask my opinion about buying the App I would probably say Not yet wait until some of the bugs are worked out On a scale of 0 worst to 10 best I would give it a 5 at the current time However the beauty of electronic publishing is that AmosScott can correct these little problems as times goes along and issue an update through the App store Glenn Estus        SoSo
After an upgrade app stopped working in my iPhone 5s I cant see previously purchased catalogs Totally unacceptable Does anyone know how to fix this     App stopped working
I like the idea of having a mobile Scott catalog at my finger tips I can zoom in on the color pictures and text I think it also costs less than the paper version if I am not mistaken My big complaint is the full text search doesnt seem to work This feature is what really sets the digital version apart from the paper version The search just spins and spins and spins but I have not seen it return one search results yet This definitely needs to be addressed The app support button takes me to a page that when I press the Scott catalog link brings me back to the app store page for the product When the search is fixed Ill give it 5 stars           Needs a little work
I have used the app for more than two years now and have always found it to be a little buggy however the ability to have multiple catalogues on my device has always made up for the inconvenience I have come to expect In the past catalogues that I had previously purchased would randomly be blank As others have stated a simply fix was to archive the catalogue and download it to the device again A bit of a pain but it has been the only solution So now for a week I havent been able to download any catalogues I have archived all of my catalogues deleted the app reinstalled the app and still nothing The app has zero value for me now Please fix I have multiple catalogues registered to the app and without the ability to view them I feel as if Ive been taken     App is not working
I hope Amos developers read this Pretty happy with the app but full text search feature is missing and it is essential if A You are looking for stamps issued in specific year Since number ordering is not chronological you can have stamps in earlier years reissued later with new year printed on them If you are building a chronological collection it is difficult to find those cases For example of what I mean see 3972 and 3972d One was issued in 2003 the other in 2005 B You are trying to find stamp image reference number like A1957 if it is reused by later issue it is tedious to find the original picture without full text search functionality              Add full text search got a winner
Basically its a front door to purchase catalogs If you dont feel like paying there is no reason to download this app     Not worth your time
This is based on the free download and looking at the screen shots which seem to be a PDF version of the printed book The interface is clear and simple to navigate but to really make this a killer app its going to need to add some more interactive features My suggestion list The ability to check off or annotate the stamps I own add a photo of a stamp I own to its listing crossreference confusible stamps with a tap on the screen instead of reading a footnote and browsing to that listing manually link to articles about notable stamps in Scott Stamp Monthly now part of Linns Stamp News tap to see a database of recent auction results for famous rarities And if they really want to get fancy and useful the ability to take a picture of any mystery stamp and have the app identify it and take you right to the listing I felt the requirement to buy the catalog in 30 chunks rather onerous Ive never spent more than 14 on an app for iPhone or iPad The book version of the worldwide classic catalog retails for 129 and the three pieces of it in this app add up to 90 Not much of a discount considering how little functionality has been added so far There isnt even a way to testdrive say one or two countries for free I think I would rather be able to pay 99 cents per country even if that adds up to more money overall than have to plunk down all that cash for a third of a catalog I might not like Also will there be a discount for upgrades to future editions           A promising start but we want more
After reading of this app in Linns Stamp News it seemed like a good way to carry my catalogue to a stamp show with considerably less weight That still holds however I only collect British Caribbean Those countries are separated into three different purchase points Thus I would have had to spend 9000 for fifty pages of the catalogue I would be better off just cutting out the necessary countries from the real paper catalogue At least I could make notes on them Then I could still share the rest of it with a friend who only collects Germany and its states I have already deleted the app     What a ripoff
I like having the catalog on my phone it means that I have all the info without lugging the big book around I think the main problem is that the app is just like a book Basically all Amos did was scan the pages of the catalog Its a pain to flip to the stamp you need It needs a SEARCH FUNCTION Its also a pain when you have to change sections you have to go all the way back to the main headings then drill back through the catalog Amos needs to get away from thinking of it as a book and figure out how people will use it electronically Also what about ANNUAL UPDATES Overall I give this a C its a lot like having the catalog on your phone but it doesnt take advantage of being electronic Get rid of the ads Theyre ANNOYING           Could be better
Ive been waiting for this not having to haul around paper catalogues will be fantastic Need to be able to search better between all downloaded catalogs Little hard to find stuff once you download all the parts of a catalog it should just be a catalog shouldnt stay as part abc Im sure minor navigation issues will improve as this app is out longer Looking forward to all the other volumes becoming available in the future If your a serious stamp person its definitely worth the money              Ive been waiting for this
For me it is worth it to have the catalogues on my phone and iPad I hate lugging around catalogues to shows as a dealer and as a buyer I love having immediate and portable access to these catalogues However when I upgraded the OS on both my iPhone and iPad none of the catalogue files would open The fix was to archive each section then download again A pain but at least I have my catalogues again Finally no 2015 catalogues Has Scott abandoned this app I hope not I use it more than any other on my iPhone              Good app but buggy
Im sorry to see that there is no iPad app for 2015 Granted that there were drawbacks but it did mean that I had a catalogue in my pocket and since I collect six countries I could afford for the first time to buy all the countries I needed This year I wont be buying any 2015 volumes                 No iPad catalogue for 2015
This is awful The application plays a steady stream of advertising across the bottom which is very distracting I dont mind ads in the print version as they are nondistracting and I can read them whenif they interest me But the constant jiggling at the bottom of the screen makes what used to be a pleasant experience browsing the Scott catalog into just another television shrieking for my attention I will continue to purchase the paper version for as long as its available If it goes away Ill simply use the electronic version at the library Where it is blissfully quiet and free from streaming banner ads     Awful
I was so glad to see this finally come out but I am disappointed with what is here This is nothing more than a snapshot of the pages in the print catalog They cannot be manipulated written on I could not get the search or bookmark to work The only thing that comes free is the stamp identifier front matter and values That is of very limited utility to me To buy the full catalog one has to spend as much as it costs to buy the print version Why The cost to distribute the electronic version must be a fraction of the print version you should discount it        I am disappointed
I dont purchase anything over wifi or 4g Why cant the catalogues be purchased directly from iTunes from my Mac Are negative reviews considered inappropriate for the App Store Im beginning to think that it was Steve Jobs on the screen of the 1984 commercial     Why the hell cant the catalogues be purchased directly through iTunes
I downloaded the app to look to check a few prices and see how the app work Was disappointed to see I could not get any information with out buying a book for 1999 or 2999 Not what I was looking for Unless I missed something I will pass for a now     Bait Switch
I was so excited to use this app and be able to bring all my catalogs to the shows that I didnt even balk at the high price which should be significantly less since Amos is saving a ton of printing costs But then I purchased us specialized part one and was disappointed First of all the app should turn into one catalog after the parts are downloaded and I should be able to see my entire library rather than having to go back to download to see some sections Second every bit of text in the catalog should be searchable globally But it gets worse When I first downloaded it I could see the catalog Now I get a blank page except for the ads of course They display fine And when I click on the support link it sends me to a web page that sends me BACK TO THE SUPPORT LINK Just give me a simple PDF that I can download to my kindle or iBooks bookshelf instead of this complicated and crapy app PLEASE     Disappointment
Catalog is in small sections of the total catalog Using the classic catalog is somewhat difficult but a start To eliminate the header search area one needs to tap on the main part of the screen but there is no clue in the help section The classic comes in parts but if you can not figure which part contains which country you have to use the main search engine However you also have to put in a number of the stampyou are looking for even if you are only looking for the country I tried to find afghanistan by putting in the country name and the number one When I could not find the country I was confused Finally figured out that the country does not have a number one but starts at two Who knew In short a beginning with room for improvement Keep going Scott Now have the first three volumes of the regular catalog as well Search engine is a little improved but still needs work Books you download are put in the library but the ID of the is difficult because the cover appears to be the same Sill needs work on the search engine              A good start
If there was any way to give zero stars or negative stars I certainly would Not worth the 30 needed to buy the section you want Ads are annoying and should give an option to disable completely since I have a paid 30 for a full book Search function is fair and a bit better with the new release however it has been over ten months with no updates Does Amos plan on updating this application Give us something useful Bookmark is nice but it would be great to be able to highlight text or add comments to a page without a bookmark     This is one of the worst applications ever
