Text and images quality is still horrible     New app same problem

This app has been a nightmare Over a year ago they sent out a update which prevented many users me included from accessing their previously purchased content It also like every other update erased everything already downloaded meaning you had no choice but to download everything again Over a year later they send out a code to supposedly restore those purchases After finally getting the code which I had to email customer service for Im still missing over a years worth of purchases Luckily I have receipts which Ive emailed them twice to no avail Ive just about given up because I dont know what else I can do Its infuriating to have to write off 60 of purchases but it seems as far as they are concerned the matter is settled I guess I should be thankful that I finally have access to some of my purchases again even if it took them over a year to make that happen Still I cant express the frustration and disappointment Ive had with this app Im extremely leery of updating this app ever again now that its somewhat working but needless to say I wont be renewing when my subscription runs out and Id encourage anyone thinking of going in Retro Gamer to steer clear of this digital version     Stick with the print version

I was a reader of this magazine until they decided to cut off iPad 1 users from getting the newer magazines by requiring ios6 Why do that The first iPad is still widely used and had no trouble displaying these magazines Boy am I glad I bought the magazines on a one at a time bases instead of subscribing I was not aware this publication was the kind to turn around and stab their loyal readers in the back     Why cut off the iPad 1

Of the print edition or at least discounted I subscribe to RG and I live in the USA so it tends to take a very long time to reach me It would be nice if I could read a bit of the iPOD version while waiting for the hardcopy to show up I also think 5 is too much for any digital mag Other than that I have nothing bad to say about RG Its a fantastic magazine How about giving us a table of contents listing for free At least that would make it worth keeping the app installed Thanks        Should be free for existing subscribers

The magazine is great but 5 for old issues Way too expensive Although do an issue on Cinemaware and Ill buy it for sure Especially with the Wings Directors Cut campaign on Kickstarter           Too expensive

This is a review of the app not the mag broken and a ripoff if you subscribed through it as currently youre pretty much incapable of doing anything with it     Great magazine broken app

Great reviews interviews and features on all those great games and systems of yesteryear Very high quality writing and you can tell this stuff is a labor of love for the whole staff                 Look forward to the new issue every month

This application is a very good resource to have for those who never have heard of the publication and for those who have and want digital access to the archive Upon launch of the app users will be taken to the main menu where users will see the layout of magazines for purchase Users have the choice to buy single issues with the whole archive made available or subscribe by month half a year or full year The prices are a bit high in comparison to most newsstand apps but that is to be expected with this being more of a niche publication The monthly subscription price is 299 the six months is about 2499 and the full year is about 4199 Users can easily manage their account from the app with a tap of a button taking them to their library page where all issues are placed and where you can restore past purchases if need be Users can just as easily go to the options page where users can further manage their account or customize their reading experience This app is special in one other way from similar apps in that you can search magazine issues by keyword so say if you are looking for Sega content the issues that pertain to it at least in the cover will be filtered One can also sample magazines with the first few pages made available Not every magazine newsstand app offers this The Retro Gamer Magazine app does a great job in terms of the content offered the various price options and the management of your account              Retro Gamer Magazine

The magazine itself is really good Well researched articles with depth However the app is buggy It will not restore previous purchases despite having an option to do that They dont see to be in much of a hurry to update it and fix the bugs either           Great magazine Mediocre app

Wanted to try and contact them before leaving a bad review but after trying to figure out how to contact them I gave up Ive bought 2 years of retrogamer from them plus Im still a current subscriber and I cant view any magazines since the upgrade Ive tried removing the app reboot iPad etc When I try to do restore previous purchases it asks for my apple id and then does nothing So not only am I loosing money on my current subscription Ive lost all access to previous purchases Maybe sometimes paper is better Please fix the app or tell us how to get our mags     Cant read any of the magazines Ive paid for

I switched from printonly to this digital subscription a few months ago The magazine content is great which is why Ive been a subscriber for years This digital presentation is a duplicate of the magazine No effort was taken to format the content to the medium Its useable but why cant it remember which issue and page I last read and open back to that Instead it opens to the store page and I have to select the issue and find the page I was reading That should be an easy fix please           Great content please improve presentation

Do not buy till this is fixed Its amazing how this app still isnt fixed its been over 9 months since Ive been able to access the issues that I have purchased Do not buy any issues on here if you ever want to be able to access them later     Purchased several issues and now unable to access them

Im thrilled to finally have a working iPad retina update for this app The problem is that the magazines themselves appear to be lower resolution compared to other magazine apps You can easily see this by zooming in Text and images are not sharp when zoomed Hopefully this will be addressed in future issues              Retina support for iPad finally working but magazines need higher resolution

Finally retina iPad supported and its beautiful It now makes a great substitute to the physical version thats expensive to import Digital distribution at its best                 Needs New iPad support

Apple Zero stars is a rating Deletes your existing library so you have to download everything again But cant do that as the restore function doesnt work So now I have nothing Total rip off If it doesnt work dont release it Its updates like this that make you regret the app auto update feature in IOS 7 Fix this mess As a workaround if you download the old stand alone app not the news store one you can still get your mags and all your old issues restored in that Unfortunately you still have to download them again but at least you can still read them Look in your app purchased history as well if youre struggling to find it in the app store Magazine is great this version of the app is used toilet paper     Craptastic

I cant believe how much content they have every issue on games of the past Everything is well written by people who are obviously very passionate about games For the fools that write poor reviews due to their own shortcomings there is not only a preview of every single issue but you can see thumbnails of literally every page of every issue Just tap the issues thumbnail and swipe                 Amazing Previews of every issue page are available

Will not restore purchases on my iPad Cant access 2 years of subscription issues And MONTHS with no fix     Completely broken

Ever since the update to get ready for iOS 7 I havent been able to open the app It slowly updates database then closes itself out after a few minutes Update for GamesTM worked fine Retro Gamer just wont update Please fix have deleted app an reinstalled new issue out and I cant read it        Broken

For some reason the news stand stopped updating at issue 122 Not sure if this is because of their update of the software to iOS 7 but Im not getting new issues Love the magazine but this is upsetting     iPad 1 not getting new issues

Living in the US would have to rely on Barnes and Noble for a ten dollar copy and sometimes miss issues Now can never miss an issue The interface is wonderful as well                 Love this mag

If you just want to check out the UI and see what you can buy then youll love this     No Free Preview Issue

Great magazine This app has seen much improvement since its inception                 Worth every penny

Updating caused all of my purchases to be lost     STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS ONE
