Remodium - Adium Remote Chat

My customer service review part 2 So after several days of efforts and communication between me and the remodium staff we learned 1 this program wont work with the PowerBook G4 that doesnt have the Intel chip and 2 the staff was helpful caring diligent in the face of this initial failure and then the result of specific technology that was required My refund was promptly processed by the app developer and I hope someday to get a new Mac and enjoy this app to its fullest just as I enjoy Adium My thanks              Not recommended

Worked finally Reinstalled the app on my iPhone and reinstalled remoduim on my Mac Hope this would help other users Thanks           Working

If you read the description then youll know that you need to use the plugin for adium With this the app works great My only complaint is that it doesnt use badge notifications or anything Im not sure if this is a glitch in the app or if it just doesnt support it otherwise the program works as expected              Good App

I was skeptical because of bad reviews but it seems to work as advertised I love this because now I can keep all my chat transcripts archived on my Desktop and still have access to chat on my iPhone No remembering to log out on my desktop and login on my iPhone              Its simple but thats all thats needed

Im assuming the only reason this app has 3 stars is because this app used to work great at one point I downloaded it for 499 Its JUNK I emailed the developers for help on making this app work on 3G or wifi and the emailed me a copy of their FAQ which was just as useless If youre thinking oh I know a lot about computers i can fix this well guess what so do I If you decide to buy it anyways like I did dont say you didnt know because they clearly mention it on their site that this app just doesnt work LOL Deuces     What a nightmare

This idea is good and would be pretty handy for me around the houseoffice IF I could get it to work The app comes with no explanations or Help for how to configure it You have to rely on the poor support offered via the devs website If you arent a developer yourself with pretty deep knowledge about network configs youll probably never get this app running It used to work for me but for past 6 months it just attempts to load on opening and never connects and if I want to reconfigure it I have to delete and reinstall Gimme a freakin break I wanted to support this app but it exudes the distinct odor of someones seniorclass project that was never completed and is now longsince abandoned Things this app needs 1 To be free until it is ready for prime time 2 A help file within the app that provides basic guidance in clear language for standard users 3 Configuration help 4 Menus and config options that are available at all times EVEN when the app is NOT connecting functioning as expected 5 I wont even get into features its pointless to wish for such things until this app achieves bareminimum functionality across the majority of installations Apple andor the developer should have the decency to pull this app if it isnt going to be supported updated properly Leaving it in the store to catch a few bucks from wellintentioned users who are willing to give it a try is unethical     Super Buggy Poor Support Limited Features

When I first installed the app I liked it Push notifications didnt work and the developer said it was because his server was down while he tried to find a new hosting provider My offer to host his push server at my colo went unanswered Skip forward a few weeks and Remodium started crashing as soon as I launched it I reported it to the developer and sent crash dumps but I has been several weeks and there have been no updates and my inquiries have gone unanswered With features that do not work and An unresponsive developer I would recommend against buying this app     Great concept flawed implementation

Fraud Junk Incompetence     I want my money back

Ive been searching for a good iPad app for chatting and Ive finally got a winner I did have to fix something with my router to get it working but thats because my router had the wrong firmware it had been causing other problems too                 Love it

Nowhere in your description do you say this app is limited to wifi usage As soon as wifi is off on the iphone it doesnt work     Only works with wifi

When I downloaded Remodium in 2010 it was nothing but trouble I tried again this summer but things were still buggy This version however seems to be right on Now I can dump IM for the most part There are still a lot of missing features otherwise itd be 55              Almost there

You must have a Mac running Adium to care about this app If you dont have mac dont download this This app has allowed me to be freed from my desk and get Lotus Sametime messages on my iPhone there is no native app that allows connection to a SameTime server this app has saved my life                 Remodium

Really does not work as advertised Push does not work It also only seems to work within the same wifi network Kind of pointless if you ask meDont waste your money like I did     NOT RECOMMENDED

It does exactly what it says So if youre looking for a standalone iPhone IM app move along nothing to see here But if Adium on the Go a remote companion to the Mac IM client you always have up and running anyway sounds interesting read on Set up was as simple as described 1 Get plugin Download unzip and double click to install into Adium then relaunch Adium 2 Get Remodium Buy and then launch the iOS App 3 Pair Adium to iPhone Select my phone listed under Adium Pair with Remodium menu in the Adium application The sync magic just happend Yes its a very specific use scenario but it really just what i was looking for A way to maintain my IM connectivity when i step away form my Mac during the day One that accesses the same accounts and contacts I already have without fragmenting my chat history Chats happen in the Mac I get and respond on the iPhone and Adium logs it all I can even switch status settings remotely even custom ones BUT not those placed in groups The minor bit of futzing required to get Push working is really very easy but a little awkward for those who dont really mess with settings on their iPhone The ability to set custom ports and adresses like dyndns aliases is a major plus 4 out of 5 stars only bc set up while easy still has some rough edges Adium app crashed twice during initial set up phase but simple relaunch and all was well Has been stable and no issue since              A little bit of magic

I followed all the instructionsbut it not working At all Total bummer Ill change my rating if they write back to help me figure out what is wrong     Cant get it to work

Dont waste your money like I did I cant get the app to work because you cant access the stupid plug in I found the web site But iPad cant get it Says error cant open     Worst app ever

I use Adium to work on stories with my cowriter and I need to have my chat logs saved This allows me to keep everything synced up The plugin is only hard to install if you are a total dunce                 Does exactly what I need it to

I was surprised to find this as its something that Ive really wanted And it mostly works Deal For most users the only real benefit of this over a mobile IM client is to keep chat windows and transcripts in sync which I would think would probably not be a huge deal However for me something like this is ideal I work from home and keep in touch with coworkers over a private jabber IM server accessed through a VPN and to date I have not been able to get any mobile IM clients working through a VPN to the jabber server This app skips all that complexity and lets me just share my adium session on the desktop Perfect As for how it works There are no push notifications and given the app hasnt been updated in 9 months Im a little worried its been mostly abandoned especially combined with the other reviews which indicate push notifications havent worked for quite some time This is rather annoying and I have to rely on growlprowl to get notified of incoming messages Secondly Ive had sporadic success with accessed it remotely Yesterday I installed it and after port forwarding could not get it to work at all Today it works fine Ill have to keep an eye on it but if it continues to work remotely it will be a great solution for keeping in touch with the office while on the go              mostly good

Its just work as described if you know how to follow some simple instructions my mac is running 247 my adium also running all the time and boom My remodium never disconnected me I have to admit that this has a simple UI you cannot customize or choose wallpaper its just dead simple chat client that works in the end we dont need those fancy chat clients that customizable but all we need is we can connect to and within the apps                 IMPro Trilllian Beejive Remodium

requires base to be online What if I take my ipadiphone with me and I no longer can connect to my home network It stops working Unreal     Awful requires base to be online and connected

I was really excited at first to find this app Was looking for a way of keeping in touch while out and about but still have IM transcripts archived on my Mac Have tried and tried to get this function remote access via 3G to work but to no avail It will only work if my iPhone is on the same wifi network as my mac which is of limited value I emailed the developer for help and got no response I am starting to think this project has been abandoned I may be calling Apple for a refund Have to decide if wifi only access is worth it     Does not work as promised Beware

The thing crushes a lot and doesnt send me notifications when it does work Total waste of money     Do not get this App

This is the single most useless waste of 5 I believe I have ever made Its pointless if my Mac is sleeping or Im away from home Waste of time waste of money and Im probably switching to Trillian as a result despite the fact that I have always loved using Adium     Useless

Its really good but it cant seem to connect through 3g on mine ive open my port and it still dont work anyone knows how to troubleshoot              3g connectivity

So far the app is working fine but no text support for landscape mode What gives I mean fer real My computers always on so I dont much mind but no landscape to type Cmon But wait not even the app store is supporting that Augh I feel like Charlie Brown kicking a football     A chat app without landscape option for orientation Fail

Extremely sparse tons of broken features push multitasking even remote access The idea is great but this app is not even close to completion and should not be for sale     Not ready for sale

A very nice idea though still a little bare bones no smileys for example But Push doesnt work at all I contacted their support address and was told that theyre working on fixing that but that was months ago and its still not working and the apps description still incorrectly claims to have Push support        Bugs need fixing

Sorry but the 1star reviews for this App are totally unfair It does require some effort to get it to go Remodium does what it says even over 3g if you have read the docs Which dont seem to load from the main website DOH That being said I did get Adium Remodium working even over 3g by finding the docs via Google and even reading some of the earlier reviews here see the June 5th All Versions review by No Complaints Here very helpful thank you The other thing to take note is that this App is being maintained Theyre working on 14 right now Check their twitter So to sum Patience works great 5 stars for it when it works 1 for the occasional bumps and making Adium crash Another 1 for having to hunt around for docs and the elbow grease           Great App marred by hunting around for docs need for elbow grease

Only works on wifi and only with special settings they do nothing to explain Very basic capabilities and even close to what is advertised In short a waste of money     Limited usability

I was put off and nervous seeing the negative reviews but I bit the bullet and gave it a try I ran into the same spinning wheel and hang on loading contacts as other have reported even when using Remodium on my local wifi ie router port forwards a nonissue It turns out that even after telling the OS to accept incoming connections to Adium after installing the plugin Remodium wouldnt work until I turned off my firewall on my laptop Now Ill fiddle with things and figure out how to hard configure a firewall hole specifically for Remodium but this is less than ideal At very least this firewall requirement needs to be communicated to potential purchasers if its a widespread issue FWIW Im running Adium 15b2 on Lion Otherwise Remodium seems to perform exactly as advertised which is exactly what I was looking for              Works greatif you turn off your computer firewall

Ill admit I had a couple of snags setting it up at first But the developer is very responsive to email now granted he has a full time job so most emails were the next day Perfectly fine in my opinion Anyway I would suggest to follow remodium on twitter as I saw several tweets there that helped me in my config Aside from that it functions great I can easily type reply and so fort to multiple people all without having to run a separate IM client on my phone Which for those of you who know if you do that sometimes you get every other reply etc Not with remodium it has each and every reply A major plus As others have posted its just the essential stuff name and so forth of contacts I like simplicity and this app truly does that I also have a list of things I want to have added in the future but they can wait as it functions properly each and every day For those who say that the app crashs I may add I also had this problem but once the developer emailed me that currently it would only run on 1 machine on a net and not 2 in my case I uninstalled it from the non essential mac wifes as she is rarely that mobile and I am the mobile person in the family and reinstalled it to the phone and everything was up working again This app is in my top 5 list of most used easily                 Great app for us always mobile folks

The app works great when I have a chat window already open on my Mac but none of my contacts load into the contacts list so Im unable to start a new conversation from within the app Furthermore the app crashes from time to time when I try to view the contacts list as well If my contacts loaded properly I would give this app 4 stars        Contact lists dont load

I am a frequent App buyer and Ive wasted a lot of money on silly Apps but when it comes to productivity I try to buy only the best This was a fail for me I had to read several blogsinstructions to even install the program it consistently crashes or doesnt load at all and the BIGGEST bummer of all is when youre computer goes to sleep you lose all connection I work on the go remotely from another country and iChatAIMIM is a way of life for the entire company We cant function without it I was really looking for something I could keep all my transcripts in tact with but that I could use when Im out to lunch or away for a bit I was hoping it would make life easier and that it would work when moving from my home office to a coffee shop but if I pack my computer the App goes away I hate that Wasted 5 bones and wouldnt recommend it     I should have listened

Doesnt work with IRC and many other clients Jabber at the least Its just another chat client basically it doesnt relay the things Adium on your mac is working with Fail and waste of 5 at the same time Double Fail     Doesnt handlle IRC

I love this app My company uses Sametime for our corporate messaging and no one has created a decent native app for it But this is the best of both worlds with Remodium I have access to sometime and all the other messaging services I use for personal and business reasons With the new iPad version it is now really easy to access my contact lists Thanks again                 Work untethered

I was skeptical with all the negative reviews but it works for me If you have Adium open on your Mac and youre on the same wifi network it works              Nothing fancy but it works Period

The word suggestions in iOS 8 obscure the input window unless the keyboard is undocked I realize there hasnt been an update since like 2012 but Im requesting an update now           Needs iOS 8 compatibility update
