Great tool especially for the off the beaten path crags                     Handy pocket guide ClimbGneiss
The maps interactivity between routes photos and the climbing log all integrated into one app are awesome Make beta notes for yourself after a burn to review for the red point attempt Swipe between lines to make sure you know what your about to get on It s intuitive and at least for the Portland area really helpful                 Gorgeous and intuitive PdxYeager
Awesome app Makes finding routes extremely easy and gives simple descriptions of approaches Pictures of the walls with graphed lines for each climb is very organized and boosts the climbing experience so much My only problem is a few bug fixes The main one is a glitch that happens after I blow up the route pictures to full screen and then try and shrink it down to read the description about half the time it flashes to a tan screen and I have to restart the app to get it functioning It is extremely annoying Please get this fixed Also the GPS system is a little touch and go Great when it works but only works about 20 percent of the time Looking forward to new books                 Very good Small bugs Billfrank
The app was great and had awesome features until it started crashing upon login I now cannot access my guidebooks             Great while the app wasn t broken Vinnythepizzaguy
I ve loved using rakkup and I see a lot of potential for the future It is helping to bring climbing to more people and making the knowledge that is essential to growing as a climber more accessible Very easy to use program makes finding the routes you want a breeze instead of hunting around an area and guessing the grade Love Rakkup                     Love Rakkup Zach Bonta
Cannot even get the sample guides to work so there is no way I am spending money to try and buy one     Samples do not work Hhgoal
Route planning and terrain knowledge are some of the most important elements of backcountry skiing in avalanche terrain This is why a quality photographic guidebook written by a professional is such a great resource RAKKUP takes this to a whole new level Professionalism and trusted knowledge are still the cornerstones of the app But the power of digital tools are unleashed by the developers Photos you can zoom on drawn routes you can hide or show terrain filtering features aspect slope angle etc and most amazingly turn by turn navigation on topographic maps To top it all off you can download any RAKKUP book and access it offline and without phone service I m definitely a bit old school and prefer paper books in most cases I also have only a small handful of apps on my phone So it s certainly impressive that I was able to figure out how to use the app without much frustration or learning curve                     A very powerful backcountry ski tool Andyingunny
Though I still truly love printed guides the new era of digital is here an with route development constantly growing the live updates from RAKKUP make finding your routes much easier especially in some of the more obscure areas                     The next generation of guidebooks Rock gobbler
Version 21 of rakkup includes peak names for backcountry ski descents and brings ice climbing titles to the bookshelf A great improvement over the last release                     v21 offers great new features Nategreenberg
Went to use Rakkup in Red Rocks and it worked fine for the first 1 3rd of the hike and then refused to open Would keep hitting the load screen and then just booting me back to the home screen without opening Restarted phone force quit app and cycled airplane mode to no avail We had to bail because we were counting on the beta contained within the app to get up Crimson Go buy a book instead it won t crash and end your day of climbing before it even begins     We got screwed by Rakkup TyMH
Can t find room in the already loaded climbing pack for a guidebooks Is the online description to a wall only succeeding in getting you lost Well look no further Rakkup is for you A streamlined interface coupled with GPS locations to all routes with accurate descriptions by locals and frequent fresh updates creates an unbeatable rock climber tool We used the Tensleep and Cody guides recently and were very impressed with how intuitive the Rakkup Guide intrface was Also Many of the routes were not published anywhere else that we know of so it was great to get have inside accurate beta The guides are also cheaper than paper guides which aids frugal climbers Check it out you won t be disappointed                     Great app for climbers Pat Mees
I was pretty satisfied but the app is no longer working for me I tried to redownload it but am unable to Pretty disappointing since I spent upwards of 50 on guides     App is no longer working for me ADlibertyRP
Easy to use guides on your phone With GPS location points for trails walls routes that works with your phones GPS you can be sure you re at the right place With ongoing crag updates it s easy to stay current                     Accurate Easy to Use daftDog
This app is quickly becoming a must have for a climber that climbs at a location that features the Rakkup guide Rakkup does an awesome job of mapping you to the routes and areas and showing excellent photos and topo s to help make sure you are on the right route I found it easy to use and would absolutely recommend it                     App is a must have for climbers MicahKles
Turn by turn directions to the crag clear graphics of the routes and great pics of the rock for reference Highly recommend this app                     Works perfectly whynomyname
Love the maps and images Love the app However the guidebook I was hoping to use the most exit 38 wa is missing about half the climbs far side Useless I m still stuck using my 2003 guidebook and mountain project app that has the content but worse interface Please make your content providers step up their game This app could be awesome             App good content poor Slow Dan
A great idea squandered by climbers who think they can develop technology and or run a business Not worth the cost of the guide books     Great idea poor implementation Tom Danca
I am flying to Red Rocks to climb The trip was planned last minute and I did not get a chance to buy the physical guide book I thought Rakkup might have one and it would be better than online routes say from Mountain Project The book on Rakkup cost 20 I didn t think twice and just bought it I assumed that at that price it would be decent I was so wrong The guide book has less than 80 routes 80 Red rocks has several thousand routes I checked the mountain project app They have 1099 routes Extremely disappointed with Rakkup     Zero value for money Scarecrow Talati
These guys really have developed the future of guidebooks From real time trail map directions to easy to follow topo lines and belay view pictures this is the best tool for exploring a new area Have fun                     The future of guidebooks Norm07
Update ugh still no beta on how much gear quick draws types of anchors or even the height of each route This app should come with a free bail biner First up I like the app It has a lot of features that MP is missing and the ease of locating areas and routes is second to none All that is awesome however much of the beta is totally wrong so I can t give it a good rating I bought the Smith Rock guide and here is what I found 1 areas have different names to mountain project This is old info and lacks many of the well established routes 2 many routes labeled as 1 pitch that are actually 2 or 3 Be sure to cross reference with MP Some climbs are totally wrong One classic is listed as 1 pitch but It s 3 pitches can be 2 and no way can you lower off the top with one 60m as described 3 no length on pitches Want to know if it s a 45 80 or 100 route Tough luck The other HUGE issue is no mention at all of of how much gear is needed Want to know how many bolts to the anchors How many QD s or slings to bring Tough luck Gotta love the irony of an app called rackkup that has zero mention of your rack Don t rely on this app for your beta this is an alpha version at best Devs I bought your content and applaud your effort but beyond route finding this app is pretty useless if not dangerous I look forward to updates and will update my review as they roll out         Two stars for effort not safe to climb from tho Crypple
Digital climbing guidebooks are the wave of the future Priced cheaper than paper guides usable on any mobile device always current and equipped with gps navigation What more could you want Rakkup has an easy to use interface for authors and an intuitive feel for end users If you have used Mountain Project you ll love these digi books Eliminate the peanut gallery misinformation and fill in the gaps left in most MP entries Pick up the guide to your favorite area or plan your next trip around one Better yet pen your own to your local spot                     Wyclimber Puzzle mike
A really enjoyed using this app I have no sense of direction so the navigation feature was pretty revolutionary for me I loved being able to zoom in on the photos and check out the beta                     Rakkup jane climbs
Rakkup has excellent guidebooks written by local authors giving the digital convenience of Mountain Project but with a more cohesive voice It is also much easier to orient yourself using a Rakkup app instead of MP I like getting the print guide and the corresponding Rakkup app so that I can automatically have all my climbing guides on my phone when I travel                     Guidebooks for the Traveller McKCardinal
This app is the future of climbing guidebooks I used to use a paper guidebook I bought one for the entire mid Atlantic region so it was pretty bulky and weighed as much as all my biners combined Whenever I d put it down I d lose my place so I was always looking for a stick to use as a bookmark For some areas I had to pore over directions on how to arrive at a climb then scan the terrain for landmarks No more This app taps into the GPS in your phone and does it all automatically You can search for climbs by YDS grades top rope vs sport vs trad or even if you prefer sun or shade The GPS guides you through the trails and directly to your climb Once you arrive the screen shows a photo of the rock face with your climb illuminated It could not be any easier                     The future of climbing guidebooks Derek Braun
This is a great app and is updated on a regular basis Only 2 reasons why I didn t rate this higher 1 its not very interactive There needs to have the ability to rate routes make notations and have a climb check list And 2 Needs more guide books However I m sure this is an ongoing process Overall well done             Not bad Music At it's Best
Who knew that a tiny cellphone could be such an indispensable on the go tool for rock climbing The days of photocopies or torn out pages are over replaced with magical engineering a GPS that can navigate you turn by turn to the route a miniature high res screen with photos and topos that you can zoom aerial maps showing the cliffs trails and roads and comprehensive route descriptions you can scroll through with the literal touch of your finger For trip planning nothing can beat an actual book For field use however modern guidebooks are heavy and precious at the crag they feel like coffee table books This problem is addressed with Rakkup on your phone My favorite feature is the smart topos You can quickly switch between the route description a photo of the cliff with a line showing your route and a topo showing all the routes protection anchors and cliff features Want to know the bolt count Zoom in and count them and see their positions on the cliff face Is that a fixed anchor Zoom in and see How do I get off Scroll around and see all the rappel anchors What s this cool route I m rappelling over Ah it s right there ON MY SCREEN jump on it The Rakkup system is different than previous guidebook platforms The app is free and you pay for the content but only the content you want I like that the pricing is customized based on my use This works really well for traveling climbers who might visit the area for a few days Conversely it works well for locals who visit often and want to own the content forever and get free frequent updates You can purchase guidebook content from within the app using payment credentials setup in your phone or less expensively from the Rakkup web site The digital format is a real space saver as I can get a pile of guidebooks for the road trip and avoid 40 pounds of paper in my van More space for important things like Scotch I ve worked with the Rakkup guys as an author and I have to say I m impressed They are responsive and have built new features into Rakkup just to support the unique content of my guidebook It s an exciting and evolving app and I m pleased to be a part of this emerging trend in guidebooks                     Adjunct to Printed Guidebooks Jim Lawyer
I recently used Grant Simmons s Acadia guidebook for a recent trip to Mount Desert Using the app became second nature pretty quickly and I thought it worked great I particularly liked the route filtering feature It was nice to get a list of routes in the grades I wanted without having to read the whole book especially since we were only there to climb for a few days A very positive experience a great guidebook and a great app                     Great experience with Acadia guide Trav and Flynn
Rakkup deserves all the industry accolades it has received I have worked with these guys on and off for over 2 years The creators are climbers themselves and truly understand the nuisance involved in creating a tool that supports and benefits the climbing experience As an author the platform is user friendly and efficient Customer service is first rate the team has always gotten right back to me and is constantly exploring ways to evolve the efficiency and usability of the interface Bottom line Rakkup is the real deal and here to stay and grow                     Awesome platform and customer service Jeff Wenger
I worked with Rakkup to create a digital guide to Acadia National Park and I have been truly impressed by what these guys have done Besides the obvious beauties of GPS navigation the ability to filter routes to your liking and the convenience of pulling a comprehensive guidebook out of your pocket when you are a couple of pitches off of the ground and wondering where to go next one of my favorite features is the plethora of beta photos In Acadia the sea cliffs are approached from above and with a standard guidebook it is often difficult to discern exactly what route you are standing on top of With the Rakkup guide beta photos taken from the clifftop allow you to easily orient from above No more rapping into an obscure 5 11 when you really wanted the classic 5 9                     A new type of pocket guide Grant Simmons
I had an issue with the app initially but it was fixed by the developer within hours of my complaint Overall the app works great Loads quick is easy to navigate detailed topos and pictures I haven t tried yet but I believe there is gps navigation to the crags too                     Great app and customer service Daniel Cottle
Rakkup does a great job of transfering the information from a book into a usable app I especially like the search filter which allows you to find routes within a grade range sun aspect or by quality rating I also like the gps map and directions that shows you exactly where you are on the trail and which way to go Overall a nice functional product                     Great Functionality Newrivermike
The GPS navigation ALONE is a reason to buy rakkup Turn by turn navigation is awesome when trying to locate a crag in an unfamiliar climbing area Once you ve arrived the topos images and descriptions help you find the routes you re looking for The search feature is nice if you have limited time and want to get down to business A guidebook in your pocket with a telephone and camera attached how sweet is that                     THE Best Climbing App MtErieGuidebook
The new Rakkup App is simply awesome It sets a new standard for rock climbing guidebooks It provides useful functionality that no print guidebook can really ever provide I m not even sure where to begin with all the things it can do But here are my top 10 reasons for choosing Rakkup Apps over print guidebooks or internet here say 1 Turn by turn GPS navigation to the base of every route without cell reception If this is all it did the price would be totally worth it 2 Solid beta I can trust from a local expert who stands behind their information 3 Color photos with route lines for EVERY SINGLE ROUTE Hello Anything else without this is just noise 4 Constant updates ensure all my route beta is current 5 No limit on the number of photos or amount of beta the author can provide unlike print guides Huge benefit on multi pitch routes where closeups of each pitch can be critical 6 Rapid search capability by route wall or sector 7 Filter by Difficulty Stars Sport Trad Boulder TR Sun Shade 8 Beta on THOUSANDS OF ROUTES all located on my phone that I already take to the crag anyway No internet connection needed 9 Consistently and logically formatted Within minutes I was zooming around the entire App doing all kinds of things It s NOT an eBook 10 Less expensive both short and long term                     The New Standard for Climbing Guides UtahClimber
I have to admit I was skeptical about Rakkup from the getgo because I m a bit of a luddite and I love climbing guidebooks But after working with the guys at Rakkup to put out the Index Town Walls guidebook I have to say I m a convert The huge advantage from both a publisher s and a purchaser s perspective is the ability to keep the beta in the book up to date For example the print guide might say that a certain route is R rated and then it may get a bolt which changes that Or a new route might get established and that can be updated on the rakkup app almost instantaneously while a guidebook would need however many more years to wait for a reprinting On top of that the gps navigation to the crag is revolutionary Rakkup doesn t replace the guidebook it simply presents new tools to help get you to the climbs you want to do and does it better than guidebooks ever have before That is pretty awesome                     The Rakkup App is a Revolutionary Tool Chris Kalman
I use Clay s Castle Rock Bouldering guidebook all the time I no longer carry a print guidebook to the crag and the car to crag navigation works out of cell service This app is an amazing bouldering companion                     best bouldering app ILove2Climb
I love Miramontes beta and the car to crag navigation in this app I use this app at Joshua Tree and haven t got lost once locating a crag I also leave my heavy print guidebook at home                     best rock climbing app ToddClimbs
Love the Rakkup guides The GPS navigation as well as all the photos and topos for each climb as well as being able to filter and search for climbs by grade type etc is awesome Using this in areas that are not easy to get to is invaluable with the turn by turn directions I ve used the Ain Belmusk Rakkup guide for a small climbing area in Morocco which can be next to impossible to find the area without the help of the GPS as its in a very remote location The app itself is solid and there are frequent updates from the developers with new features and performance and stability improvements The ability to get an update for the guidebook when it s available and have it all on your phone which most people have with them all the time anyways is really convenient It s great to see more and more major climbing areas are being released Hopefully this will mean a lot less time and energy wasted trying to find the climbs and more time actually climbing                     The future of the climbing guidebook Charissa Jones
I love the GPS navigation feature It s shown me shorter routes to some of my favorite walls Combined with the best guidebooks in my local area I can leave all the hard copies at home Now all I need with me at the crags is my phone                     Super Helpful GPS Navigation MelodyP7
Have used this at castle rock and Joshua tree both areas can get confusing Used to spend hours wandering finding routes nowadays when I m out with my kids much better to find stuff fast Rakkup helps mucho                     Faster NeoCheckers

This app is incredible                 Amazing
I have a long history of getting lost in predawn starts I started this habit in Yosemites in the early 90s and have not been able to fully shake it since I guess I dont have the magnetic navigation abilities of the European Swallow Anyway this app is sweet for making sure I get to my route without a lot of messing around If I get up a 5am to beat everyone else to a route I dont want to blow it by getting lost See Crimson Chrysalis This app is great for that I am not that familiar with Red Rocks so this app dialed me in I am a Smith person mostly so I dont really need help getting to routes there But this app did highlight some hidden shortcuts I didnt know about It took me to some lesser known areas in the park                 Great for not getting lost in the dark
Looking forward to this especially with the GPS option However for 1999 it has only 87 of the thousands of routes bail able     Dont buy hardly has any routes
Just got the app not to long ago so I havent actually used it yet but upon opening I just found a list of guides that I could buy in not particular order from locations around the world I live in the New YorkNew Jersey area and reading about a climbing route in Texas doesnt help me at all Please find a way to sort guides by location Otherwise I have to open each guide and look up the location by context clues in the text Im sure this will be a great app when its in use but I just cant get past the start        Location location location
I have to admit I was skeptical about Rakkup from the getgo because Im a bit of a luddite and I love climbing guidebooks But after working with the guys at Rakkup to put out the Index Town Walls guidebook I have to say Im a convert The huge advantage from both a publishers and a purchasers perspective is the ability to keep the beta in the book up to date For example the print guide might say that a certain route is R rated and then it may get a bolt which changes that Or a new route might get established and that can be updated on the rakkup app almost instantaneously while a guidebook would need however many more years to wait for a reprinting On top of that the gps navigation to the crag is revolutionary Rakkup doesnt replace the guidebook it simply presents new tools to help get you to the climbs you want to do and does it better than guidebooks ever have before That is pretty awesome                 The Rakkup App is a Revolutionary Tool

We downloaded the smith rocks version in the park parking lot before heading in This app didnt work once in the climbing area with 2 bars of reception on ATT Tried over and over no luck I guess if you need beta in your car or home it may be of value        Smith Rocks
Rakkup does a great job of transfering the information from a book into a usable app I especially like the search filter which allows you to find routes within a grade range sun aspect or by quality rating I also like the gps map and directions that shows you exactly where you are on the trail and which way to go Overall a nice functional product                 Great Functionality

The guide info is solidnot just a route database but photos and topos organized to be actually useful at the crag while making plans Easy interface without weird hidden settings Turn by turn nav worked well for me at Smith though I know the park Looking forward to trying the Red Rocks download                 Highquality content real app
Pretty stoked on this App The user interface is aesthetic and easy to use The GPS function works flawlessly and will get you within inches of the start of the route Hopefully in the future well see more routes added Customer service from Rakkup is top notch if you ever run into any issues              Good Stuff

You have made a really well designed app with awesome features I just wish you can implement WAY more locations available for download           Needs more locations

Great use of technology Taking guide books to the next level Much easier then sorting thru a book also And I have a good reference picture to know where to start my climb Something I always struggle with off some topos This is awesome                 Very impressive
Pretty much what I was always hoping a guide book would be Easy to use small prevents me getting lost with good pix of what I need to recognize No need to dog ear pages to find something and i dont need to rip out the pages or think ahead to make copies in order to take it on the route                 Huh
