This seems like it would be a great app if it werent for all the bugs poor performance and crashes For instance if you switch from vertical to the horizontal editor and then back the waveform display doesnt work properly It also has a tendency to hang forcing you to close and restart the app Also even the manual doesnt work right It starts cutting off text after navigating through about 4 to 5 pages Definitely needs work and not worth the money with all the problems I would expect more from a reputable company        Very buggy crashes

Latest update still does not fix the alignment problem in iOS8     Please fix alignment problem

This app is a reincarnation of the FiRE app by audio labs Seems like the same company because the app is identical The only thing is that one called Rode Rec is more buggy Plus the formatting on the iPad is complete messed up The problem with FiRE was that it didnt get updated to newer phones and iOS I think this is also another dead app I had many features that I like I hope to either find a competent alternative or that they will work on the bugs in this one But it seems hopeless     Great mic buggy app

Not impressed after spending 200 having to buy an app just to stop the nagging on every startup of lite So when i upgrade the lite app mysteriously vanishes along with my recordings Get it together rode Looks like quite a few people agree     Poor design and customer service

This is a great app FIX THE FORMATTING ISSUES FOR iPad AIR 2 The current and updated versions both make it impossible to record and edit in the same pane one has to rotate from landscape to portrait to record and then reverse the process to edit FIX IT PLEASE     Formatting problems since update for IOS 8 NOT FIXED

This app is terribly glitchy and a complete waste of time and money Heed all of the negative reviews and DO NOT BUY     Do not buy this for the love of Odin

RODE your name is on this I paid for this app less than a year ago and I finally had to delete it because it does not work So you might as well have stolen my money If you cared you would fix it or stop selling it I was thinking about buying a couple of RODE mics for the studio but I think Ill pass on that permanently I still marvel at the companies who go broke doing this I mostly feel bad for the employees who lose their jobs as a result     Wow RODE Really A Company In Steep Decline

Wow The free version actually records the entire time The paid version just screwed up about 30 min of recording because the screen on my phone went black therefor the app canceled itself Fix your dang app guys Come on     The free version works better

After returning my first defective iXY mic I was happy to be able to do stereo recordings on the move without having to haul around a separate recorder like a Zoom And the included mics on those recorders are not as good as the iXY Imagine how disappointed I was to find out that NONE of the file transfer methods provided by the software work I have an older iPhone 4 which I had hoped to hang onto and keep as my dedicated portable recorder when I upgrade to my next iPhone but FTP transfers time out with larger files the socalled file sharing option provides an IP address that just returns an error message when I try to access it with my MacBook Pro and I dont have an email account associated with my phone deliberately I dont want to have email with me all day everywhere I go So now my recordings are stuck on the phone Im looking for substitute software that can transfer the files What a piece of crap     App cripples excellent mic

I downloaded the appbut what is on my iphone sure doesnt look like what is advertised The great screenshots shown are nowhere to be found on the app in my phone Also where is ANY information on how to access the editing functions that it is supposed to have Ive been both on the app page and the Rode website for the smartLav mic that I bought There is no information available on use of the app Sorry but I expected much better from Rode     Dont waste your money

I was a Fire II user It was reliable and everything worked Rode Rec is a bundle of minor bugs and intermittent crashes Røde you can do better Im giving it two stars because its a work in progress and the iPad version is better Recommend you rework it and change its name to something like Road Rec II so you can start over with a better app and new reviews        Røde You Can Do Better

This would be a great app if it didnt constantly crash from simple things and displaying a message 5624 when Im trying to upload it to dropbox in any format using my carriers LTE network It would also be nice if monitoring were a little bit easier        Great mic buggy app

IXY is such an amazing device but its this app holds it back Fix the bugs Røde Youre a better company than this        Røde FIX THIS APP

I use this app alot and I do like that it is very easy to use novice recording software user However there is a bug that when you launch the app in while your iPad is landscape the interface is skewed making the app unusable The work around is launch the app in while your iPad is in the portrait position then if turn to landscape position if desired I hope this review helps              Good app but buggy Work around included

I think this app has a lot of potential development as file management is not intuitive and takes some getting used to through both trial and error and reading all of the documentation rode online support faqs YouTube videos etc But now that I understand the work flow I can make it work and the ixy recordings sound amazing and well worth my time getting over the initial learning curve I do hope that this app continues to be developed per above but all of the crashing bugs from previous versions seem to be resolved           Work in progress

Can not be depended on Stop recording at will Sometimes shows wave forms sometimes it doesnt Frequently locks up     Buggy

Fortunately I cant upgrade to the latest fiasco because it no longer wants to play with ios7 I only keep it on my phone in case I have some time to waste making this useul ut the interface is full of unexpected little surprises and I have lost work because I went to make an edit and the whole file got lost Its a good concept but needs work and I am certainly not going to buy the microphone until this app gets better support        No longer supports ios7

It just freezes up while attempting to record This used to be the FiRE app which was great but I think the developers must have stopped fixing the bugs when Rode acquired the app I got the Hindenburg field recorder instead which is more pricey but at least it is stable and will work when I need it to     Freezes on latest iOS

Four stars on my IPad Air 1 Ive used this for years Badly First on my iPod 4 then on my iPhone 5 iPhone 6 and now the iPad Always sketchy results At best it was just a backup to my Olympus LS 11 very good field recorder I record ambient noise for many hours at a time I used it to quickly check the visual to see if there were enough interesting spikes to bother putting it on Audacity from the other machine Lots of glitches lots of straight fails but I still felt like I had gotten my 6 worth Two weeks ago I just got a wild hair in my nose to give it a go on the pad when my Olympus finally gave up the ghost I think I got almost ten years of pretty hard use out of that It fell A lot Wow Almost every problem was made better in the iPad format Its my belief that it doesnt crash as much because you dont have to keep switching landscapehorizontal where most of my crashes happened as on the smaller devices All of your buttons are right there and the ability to change levels in real time is great Its a fine bit of kit The things I would like to see changedthat Im sure arent going to be Theres no reason this cant be dualstereo mic that I can see Im not a programmer so perhaps theres an occult reason but why can I not choose which mono mic is used On the iPad it uses the sensible top one but on everything else it uses the one close to the cord Best is relative I want to use the playback feature to pick the mic that is getting the sound I want I hate having to use iExplorer on my desktop to be able to do anything with a nine hour recording of the woods at night I have no solutions for that but thats not my trade I make art with this brush I just wish people were still refining it I have a million brushes but Ill still buy a new one if it looks like thought has been put into improvement Also just a standard manual equalizer in real time would be a charmer I almost never compress anything but I need to get rid of bass and treble all the time Oh and also also more could be done on educating people as to what the buttons do Im still worried that I will delete what I want instead of everything around it There you go Plug this in and you too can have a 9 hour recording and a fully charged device to play it on when you get back to it              The Devil Røde Out

March 15 with the latest iOS and this app has caused me no problem at all I think it includes the ability to do a lot with editing the audio No bug problems yet Im using it on an iPhone 5 with no sim so its being used as a dedicated recorder Perhaps Rode has addressed some of the issues that I read in these reviews Andlets face itits a great value for 6 bucks                 Working sweet for me

Impossible to use this app on the iPad ios 811 Rode supposedly should care more for their custommers Scattered images no access to record button     What a disappointment

I think this Røde Rec app needs an update None of the share features works properly It just wont let me removeupload my audios from the app           Doesnt Upload

Poor documentation a myriad of controls to deal with I have a recording longer than an hour and theres no option to export as a WAV or AIFF file only CAF which I would then have to convert with another program Rode really needs to rework this app        Cant export WAV on longer recordings

Terrible Common guys get this thing working The Rode SmartLav wont work on my iPhone 6 Keeps activating Siri Also wont record audio in the app if I plug it in Most of the time cant even tell that the mic is Plugged in This is so frustration Useless waste of money Please fix     Doesnt work

Im really sad and disappointed I purchased a smartlav and this app in the hopes of getting better audio on some of my videos Unfortunately many times while recording with the rode Rec and the Smartlav the mic would activate Siri or voice command of Siri is disabled and stop recording with I warning what so ever This was very frustrating since 99 of the time it meant starting over at the end of long takes after realizing no sound was recorded If I talked for 20 minutes it could literally freeze and fail a minute in making the next 19 minutes a waist of time Unfortunately there is just no way to trust this combination I and would highly suggest that people stay away from both I really feel like I got ripped off on both ends the smartlav doesnt have very good sound quality to begin with but the rode rec app is supposed to help over come some of its limitations Unfortunately this voicesiri activation bug is a total show stopper     does not work with smartlav

This app has great features and works well with the RODE Lavalier mic but lately the app is full of bugs and misalignment issues on iPad mini Its also liable to crash when uploading recordings Please fix        Buggy

for those having trouble with iPad Go to Settings Rode Rec Landscape Controls and change it to right I use this app with the Rode iXY Officially the iXY isnt compatible with the iPad But it works fine for me on the Air 2              iPad

UPDATE 2 Jan 17th The app has terrible problems with AutLayout on the iPad when switching from Portrait to Landscape Guys please you are such an amazing company with such a terrible app I know this would sound rude but you need to fire all your iOS devs get new ones and rebuild this app from the ground up If you want to charge again do so UPDATE The app is now suppose to support iOS 8 but it doesnt It crashes all the time when you hit play and them stop your recording You cant even play back your recordings It crashes all the time with iOS 8 Please update it     AutoLayout Problems iOS 8

I read the reviews and assumed that these negative issues must surely have been addressed Unfortunately the app does not work on either my iPhone or iPad I will be requesting a refund in the morning Additionally the docs say that if you use iOS 7 you may only use the internal mic on the iPhone or iPad This is among the worst Apps I have ever purchased I will suggest to Apple that they remove it from the App store     Asking for a refund

Yikes super buggy There are better apps as of 2415 that can do a better job and in most cases for free If you plan to charge for an app at least make an effort to make it reliable At the moment the mic cannot record anything through the software and sometimes doesnt recognize it I dont seem to have a problem of the mic being recognized by third party apps For shame for charging us top dollar for a buggy app For shame     Great mic terrible software

Cool program on the iPhone but the interface for the iPad is still broken as of April 2015 You have to constantly rotate between landscape and portrait to record or edit Nearly garbage in its current form on the iPad     Nope

if the creation of audio file for sharing is failed the file is not visible and enable to eliminate the file from iPhone Unless eliminating RODE Rec invisible file occupied storage space     File can not be eliminate

The application crashes when playing an existing recordit plays then gets stuck at the end Considering that no other app can use the iXY microphone theres no other choice but this app so its OK           Does the job

Using iPhone 6 and the Rode iXY mic the app takes forever to do anything if it doesnt crash first It takes about 8 sec to get from selecting a recording to be able to even record Once you hit the record button it takes about 10 sec to start recording Then when you stop it takes about 8 seconds to let you record again I cant think of a situation where this wouldnt be infuriating and a complete waste of time I should have checked the reviews before buying this app Without the iXY mic tho the program seems to work just fine no extended delayed responses  except that the iPhones builtin mic is leagues beneath the quality of the Rode mic     App makes Rode iXY mic unusable

A little too buggy for professionals I was able to crash it just by unplugging the mic You would think rode would put the same effort into this app that they put into their pro grade products I would give this app 455 if it didnt crash This app needs an update soon if they want to take any more of my money        Disappointing buggy and costs 6

Im a wedding videographer mainly and Im considering getting an apple watch really soon I use this lav mainly as backup for the groom andor officiant I usually have to lav them up well before the ceremony begins to make sure its on them before they walk out It would be nice to be able to monitor my levels and start and stop recording You guys havent had an update in a while and it crashes every once in a while I lost a short interview I did the other day because of this Luckily we were still around the area and had to record them again Please Innovate I love the mic and the app is very hopeful Thanks           Please add support for Apple Watch

Believe the hype What everybody else said along with the app dies when your phone dims Thats correct If you are recording or playing back it will stop recording or playback and as a bonus will forget where it was and what it was doing Very frustrating I have to go now bc my battery is almost dead from setting autolock to never to use this app and then forgetting to     Comically Bad
