Got this app yesterday and tested it 6 times in different scenariosIT WORKS GREATas long as you pay attention to the parameters If youre expecting a simple point and shoot your measurements will be off I set the height with a tape measure and have had great results                 Awesome App

Its not user friendly but once you apply the setting and get used to it it works and its good                 If you get it to work its awesome

To have this in my pocket is really cool Yes you HAVE to calibrate it Makes it all the better really so I can adjust for variations in my elevation to the object being measured Worth every penny Only thing I hope to see in future upgrade is the option to name the saved measure on the photo and add beginningend marks for the measurement That would complete a perfect app Great work on this app I can measure tall stuff now without climbing up there                 Great tool

Wish I could go back in time and prevent myself from purchasing this app Does not work Period I watched the tutorial read the calibration instructions even went to their website for support Does not work Period My husband who is a mechanical engineer and understands the principles behind this app cannot get it to work IT DOES NOT WORK Reporting a problem to the iTunes store was a waste of time because I never heard back from them So I am out money for an app that does not work Dont waste your time and money too dont buy it     A RipOff

It does work with the use of common sense reading comprehension and competency Well I was hesitant about buying the app after reading the reviews although the concept is solid I was unsure if the app functioned as described by the developer To test the app I stood directly in front of a mirror to measure the height of my eye using a tape measure and taking into consideration the 3 dimension of the tape measure then entered that number into the app I measured 14 from the wall and held the iPhone 4s at the proper height and distance being cautious not to move the lens from that spot but it is very sensitive to movement The distance shown was two feet off from the actual measured distance and one foot off from the height Fiddling with the height that I initially entered eye level I changed it in the app to 14 less than my true height head to toe but kept the phone held at eye level Now the app worked almost perfectly The trick is to testcompareadjust until the calculated heightdistance match the real measurements and the steadier your phone is the more accurate it will be Also zoom in all the way while you are getting the measurements Trust me It only takes a few minutes to mess around and get the hang of it all I will test it further if the developer updates the app allowing lens height adjustment as high as 200 which would make it useful for longer distances and at different elevations from the measured object Please update it My trick may only work accurately at the distance I adjusted it but I shall see Ok I tested it at 20 and the distance and height were the same so it does work It may fall out of sync if youre too close or too distant from the initial sight in adjustment Another update or separate app should include a man sized figure moose or rabbit silhouette at progressive distances Ok imagine a human silhouette on your camera screen that is say 12 tall and equates to a distance of 125 The 14 equates to a distance of 250 And 18 500 Its not perfect but it would work reasonably well to judge a distance You would need to define if full zoom or no zoom should be used as the change would affect the silhouette accuracy Heck even a vertical horizontal ruler like L or or a square with line markings and a label for each one and what heightwidth it equates to when held next to an object Think range estimating mil dot or bullet drop calculator              It works follow directions

1 star bought and attempted to use 5 star troll or people working for software designer And 2 people actually spent the time effort and energy to attempt to calibrate this And then there where still questions about the validity of the measurements And based on those reviews that while it could be of use in certain situations if you are having to recalibrate for certain measuring scenarios it is not worth the money     Wish I would have read all of the reviews

This is great When you use this be sure to calibrate it and also go into the settings and set the height of the lense I used a measuring tape and measured the height of my eye off the ground so i can get consistent measurements                 Works

Its a great thought if only it worked I measure something inches away and its telling me 20 ft So it definitely does not work What a waste At least make it free for a non working app     This App Doesnt Work

Took the risk for 199 despite some negative reviews It was super easy to calibrate and as long as you point it at an anglelike the illustration demonstrates it works amazingly Ill use this everyday for work and it beats spending fifty bucks on a laser measure                 Awesome app

This app works excellently although perhaps the instructions could be clearer based on the handful of disgruntled 1star ratings The premise is simple it uses the AngleSideAngle theorem from geometry to determine the distance You first have to determine the height at which you hold your phone to use the app properly The challenging part is to hold the phone at the same height each time This is the side in the ASA theorem The app presumes that the first angle between you and the ground is 90 degrees It then uses the phones ability to sense the angle its held at to determine the third angle From this it can calculate the distance you are from the object in question As a neat feature as well it can calculate height The algorithm is self explanatory once you understand how it calculates distance The zoom feature is also great for further precision Its difficult to understand what the disgruntled reviewers were doing wrong but it has worked excellently for me to an accuracy of about 23 It makes intuitive sense that it would have poor accuracy for extremely small angles or extremely large ones eg close to 0 or 90 degrees respectively An app that garners both extremely negative and positive reviews probably is a scam with the positive reviews fraudulent ones or is a good app that may be difficult to use correctly This app is the latter I am just an iphone user who stumbled across this app No financial relationship with the developer to disclose                 A very fun and remarkably accurate app

Bought this app while negotiating a new condo after realizing I forgot to bring a tap measure It works great Allowed me to measure everything even ceiling heights Proved to be well worth the cost and came in very handy Easier to use than an actual tape measure              Works great Very accurate

I loaded the update that was posted and now the program will not load Just a quick flash of black on the screen Then right back to main screen           Quit working after update

People who are giving this product negative reviews probably just dont know how to use it It takes a basic understanding of geometry and triangulation and works very accurately I am in the middle of remodeling my 112 year old townhouse and this app is a lifesaver dont hateimitate                 An excellent and accurate app

This app works It really does It can be accurate to a couple of inches over short distances I havent tested it on longer distances But you have to mess with the calibration and the lens height to make it work right Instead of setting the lens height to the actual height of the lens above the ground take a measurement of the distance youre using then change the lens height to match that distance I had to set the lens height to 67 and Im only 58 But it gives accurate results now A really neat concept that does mostly work though not quite as advertised           Works

I used a plumb bob attached to the bottom of my phone set at 5 foot and adjusted the height setting to 5 foot I then laid a tape measure at 20 foot The distance read 21 feet but my ceiling read 83very close Im hoping with some tweaking I can get it a little more accurate I am planning on using the app to make cubic foot measurements of inside rooms The measurements do not need to be very accurate so it probably will work fine              Very nice

This app is not accurate on anything and is a complete ripoff Dont buy it I dont know how developers get away with posting apps that do not do what they claimcharge for it and get away with it Its called fraud Im tired of paying for apps that dont do what they advertise Its one thing if its free but when you pay for something you should get a guaranty it will do what it advertises     FLAWED APP

This app might be the most worthless thing Ive ever paid for in my life it tells me thing 5 feet away are 140 feet away yes Ive calibrated it yes I read the instructions what instructions there are if I take it outside it wont give me the distance for anything Ive asked for a refund well see if I get it     Doesnt work

Once you get it set up right I suggest zooming it max when using it on short distances You MUST set the height correctly and when calibrating make sure you have your phone on a leveled surface At a known distance of 165 feet it was dead on A very handy tool              Works great

And its accurate to measurements of about 6 feet Beyond that it starts reporting ridiculous measurements eg 15 feet 200 feet     Yes I calibrated it
