What plants can you expect to see today? The BIEN Plant-O-Matic generates a list of plant species at 100 sq. km resolution for any location in the Americas. Pictures and information help you identify and ...
It has the basic information there but there are not pictures for when searching which makes it a bit of a goose chase to find the plant It also requires you re location at all times so could very well be useless when hiking in the mountains             Too basic SoullessFish
I love the idea of a botanical app in the vein of iBird However there are a significant number of common taxa that do not show up in a search e g multiple native duckweeds white pine in Central Michigan Also I couldn t find a way to go back to the homepage after changing the sorting criteria This will be a good tool once it has info on most of a region s common plants         Good concept but lacking BotanyBro
If you try to select Family you become trapped and the app won t let you out of the selection option Needs to be fixed Otherwise it s not bad             Nice to have local plant index BUT Dracunculus
It s nice that it filters ants based on your location However pictures of the plants are often of dried leaves which have lost their original colors Need pictures of live plants to be able to better match those in the wild Also if you don t already know the name or family of the plant you have do a lot of searching             Needs a little more work to make finding plants easier Jrojai
Seems ok but I m a beginner on some stuff BUT TOTALLY USLESS in the field when you have to be on line All the area s I need it for have no cell service thats a good thing         on line only tonyl13
This app covers a staggering breadth of plant diversity in the Americas It s probably going to be most useful as a checklist of possibilities for people who know a bit about what they might be seeing but don t know names of species they should consider For example if you know enough about plants to narrow your list to family this is going to be a lot more useful than if you are starting with just flower color or growth form I hope they continue to update this app as they update the underlying dataset Finally it works great on my iPad mini even though it says phone only                     Must have for plant enthusiasts CSturaco1
Pictures and scientific names but no real info or good way to search for common names     Less than helpful kitsana
No pictures of the actual plants just pictures of samples that were cut from the plant No common names no way to check settings for correct area no info on invasive plants I deleted it and put it in my wish list in case they do something with this because it is an awesome idea     Useless right now YoDuh
Resolution is too poor on the iPad Will reload if and when resolution is improved for use on IPads             Poor resolution for iPads ElziVolk
Helpful and timely app Very excited to see such data available                     Christy Baker Knight Beverly K
This app is pretty good EXCEPT the catalog is missing pictures and even basic information on a significant number of the Species The name is there but no further information        Lacking info

Very cool app for those botanically minded sort all plants found near you by habit for example find all the trees or just all the grasses or just by common name such as Maple or Daisy You can also search for flower color and filter the list of plants Links to images made by the Missouri Botanical Garden gives many images of herbarium specimens as well as some drawings and photos of the plants                 Discover the plants all around you and generate a personalized plant list
