Update please             Greg.ni
Frankly this review would be a lot harsher if I d wanted this virtual piano to sound decent and be vaguely like playing an actual piano Unintuitive to the point of being poorly designed UX aside the sample playback engine is remarkably poor Even using an 88 key digital piano as a controller keyboard it is almost impossible to get a decent performance out of this The samples don t respond to sustain and key velocity in any sensible way forget about aftertouch or ghost notes It plays like a handful of single velocity samples with poorly executed ASDR envelops and no round robin switching between sustain and held notes It s like banging on a mediocre sounding upright with a hammer for all of the nuance you can get from it In the end however what I needed was an app that would record MIDI while I sketched out songs and then send MIDI out back into my DAW later in And alas GarageBand doesn t do MIDI out This is actually a decent MIDI recorder So I use an external metronome and the audio of my Casio digi piano and it works well enough in that regard But unless you are using this app in this one specific way just buy GarageBand whose sampled pianos shine a harsh light on this app by some measure             Ultimately does the one thing I need it to C. Puffer
I loved this app because of its sound quality until I realized that it does understand that a key that is pressed down doesn t play again till you take your finger off it It just double plays when you change fingering Their support tells me this is not a bug and I should use a midi keyboard instead Fortunately some of the other piano apps do it right even the free ones     almost good ajb3141
Good luck figuring out how to connect the MIDI wireless the settings don t appear as described And you keep having to reconnect when you do get it to work But you won t get that far because the keys freeze and the pitch just starts squealing And there is NO support Report a problem goes to a deadend at their website with no contact info besides an unused Forum Looks like a wonderfully designed app if it worked But they aren t there to stand behind their app don t waste your     Beware NO SUPPORT Vlafish
Fantastic app you can play a wonderful piano organ But the big thing for me is that I am using the keyboard as a midi controller for GarageBand From the rather small number of reviews I d say this app is flying below the radar just buy it                     Top notch Nor'easter
I love this app                     I just wanted to say I love this app Jaymojo
It really does put the other piano apps to shame DEEPLY RECOMMENDED BUY IT if you re in to piano playing while on the road or voicing out ideas for composing Or if you want to goof off You will not regret it                     It s Piano Time Scott_Henkel
In addition to being playable as a keyboard keys are the right size this is a great keyboard for notation and sequencing I used it with a Mac Air and the response is immediate                     Great MIDI controller WinterSonata
Shame on these guys for failing to mention that Wifi midi control is only avail natively on a Mac I ve wasted 3 hours downloading and configuring my iPad w new PC grabbing these idiotic obscure freeware apps that Piano Pro says you can use to enable it as a controller on PC s You d need a team of IT pros and musicians to make it happen I will contact support and change my rating if they make this right     Want wireless PC MIDI control with this Dream on Vidmeister
Crashes when I try to open a saved file crashes when I tried to use it along with Thumbjam No way to export it to Dropbox or even to do an Sonoma Audiocopy Cannot directly export to Soundcloud Please fix these issues and I will give you more stars     Crashes a lot $76buqehdom
Even if just for the scales mode this piano app is worth its weight in gold Great recording capabilities and options realistic sound and fun to use it s been my favorite piano app for quite some time Others come and go but I always come back to Pianist Pro                     My Favorite Piano App pookerella
My five year old likes playing it                 App is kind of good Donpokie
This is an alright app The sampling for the instruments is pretty good There were a couple things that would have raised the score for me I bought this because it had the option of exporting audio as a wave Yes it does this but in order to use that audio you then have to hook it back up to your computer and move it to a different area of your iPad There are several music apps that have found ways around this limitation and since this product is not a DAW it should have an easier way to move the audio around Seems to be a problem with a lot of the iPad music apps Great functionality but terrible options for audio transfer Fix this and I think it will be a great way to record piano and other sounds on the fly to be used with other daw software             Pretty good Frictionzone
The interface is nice Midi support is good None of this matters if the sounds are bad Useless piano Wish I could get my money back     Bad sounding piano WBB
There are so many musical apps out there now it s hard to know what to take a chance on but I did with this one and I really like it Very well made the sounds are top notch and the ability to use my midi keyboard to play it makes life very good now I ve bothered the app creator several times and not once has he told me to sod off he seems like a good guy and I m really interested to see what he does in the future Buy this app                     Pianist Pro is great bb1b1b1b1b1b1b1
Easy to set up with a little guidance as a wireless midi keyboard Very handy So far works flawlessly I also enjoy the programable arpeggiator function                 Works great Pickr550
This is a fair app and certainly has potential But most of the potential is for improvement 1 Saving the user arpeggios 2 Continuous modulation based on key presses as in garage band 3 More powerful GUI 4 More control for MIDI devices as recording for example                 Neat but room for improvement Mr.IO
4 stars because it does what it says it would do and after the learning curve it was awesome                 Great app very useful B Mitch 504
Beautiful sounds amazing design Midi connexion and real and immediate help when you need technical support                     Great application FĂŠline2012
Nice app                     Piano Chalkgirl
Most realistic piano app in the app store                     Great mikecheer101
I love this app plus the scales hats off thx                     Great keyboard app Banm333
Absolutely not worth the money Buy GarageBand instead which is 1 million times better Do NOT buy     Highly overpriced app should NOT be more than 1 99 Browserspot
No transportation feature no octave control on main screen Piano sample is good There is no way to layers sounds My advise save your money and get garage band instead garage band is the software to compete with even for live performance musicians             Good basic features lacks important and crucial features for live performance Superpowter77
I really like this app It s like having a hand held electronic keyboard only there aren t a lot of instruments to choose from It would be really nice if they added more especially sounds like string ensembles chromatic percussion and other orchestral sounds Hopefully they ll make these additions in a future version update Then it will be perfect                 nice little keyboard entertainer510
I just went out and bought a new MacBook pro and the first thing I sis was look for apps that would connect through midi wifi network sessions using the Mac s audio midi setup I was very surprised how easy the connection was and the zero latency I got through my wifi network without having to create any special ad hoc networks The set up just plane works I was controlling synths in GarageBand in seconds The dual keyboard setup with mod wheel and volume pedal makes controlling AU instruments a pleasure I was so happy with what I experienced that I stopped looking for other midi wifi apps The app itself is extremely powerful even if your not going the wifi route I loved the piano and arp as well There are few apps we have on the AppStore that call themselves pro and actually live up to the name This is one of them                     Great wifi midi freesoulvw
Do NOT buy this app Waste of money buy GarageBand instead because GarageBand has much more quality instruments and options to choose from Overall I am disappointed that I can t return this app for a refund     Pianist Pro Review Mattgigms
I ve tried six or seven iPad MIDI apps and this is one of the most useful It lets you record sessions and export them as either audio or MIDI So far this is the only app I ve found that will export MIDI files This makes Pianist the app I use on the road to try out and save bits of music The keyboards are OK Pitch and mod can be done a wheel to the left of the screen Amplitude is soft or loud depending on where you touch the key This seems to work only part of the time probably due to how it maps to the synth I m using The tuned bars are very nice You can choose from a wide variety of tunings from Blues to Arabian and use the bars to quickly generate background chords When it loads Pianist Pro sets up a MIDI session on your computer but you still have to click connect in the MIDI setup dialog box This means you need to open Audio Setup and click the button every time you switch to Pianist Pro on your iPad To make it better 1 Auto connect MIDI to the computer when loading Then I could use Pianist Pro when away from the computer 2 Change amplitude by sliding your finger up or down on the key 3 Create a chorded option for the tuned bars bars should be set to play single note 2 note chord 3 note chord etc 4 On the two keyboard screen include a button to set the top keyboard to follow the bottom one making it be contiguous to either the top or bottom end This can be done by hand now but it s a pain to set up 5 I would give up soft sust arp and drums to have four mappable MIDI control signals But that might just be me In any case most of the other MIDI apps have some control capability                 Exports MIDI files good keyboards Solextre
I got a great little midi keyboard for five bucks It s really easy to hook up too                     my jaw is still hanging timeconstraint
This app has a lot of nice features but one glaring omission it cannot be configured so that the key width is the same as a standard piano Please add a simple option to make the keys standard width             No Standard Sized Keys SIPonomist
This is awesome I love this app                     Awesome breathemore
Highly recommend this app                     Excellent tool for learning piano Trying to learn to play
Great program or should I say app Anyway it is a very cool app that offers much to those who spend time with it Garage band is very limited Here you control the limits Sound is intense Love the auto play function too New synth sound very cool too Come and get it                     More than you think JaB4
I really appreciate the author for writing this probably 5 10 times a week I find myself launching this app just to play with a tune Excellent sound simple ui My 16 month old daughter loves it too though I wish it had a hide the widgets mode for her Thanks                     Excellent piano app samorris359
This app is perrfect                     Amazing Danhcross
Pianist pro is a great app no double about the What separate them from the rest is their great customer support I emailed the support team asking about some multitasking feature They response back with the detail of why they implemented the current version the way it is now Very informative Highly recommend any app from this company                     Tech support highly response Kekiki
If you want to learn how to play this is not for you This is an elaborate studio for musicians who are full aware of reading and writing notes and playing the piano                 Paino PRO NYTimesReviews
I absolutely LOVE Pianist which I have been using for a long time both on my iphone and ipad The app is very elegant the sounds piano organ etc are great I m an opera singer and I learn parts and check notes all the time with Pianist Can t quite figure out some advanced functions of Pianist but that s just because they keep adding deeper features                     One of my favourite apps on the iPhone and iPad CatMusic727
This is the app we ve been looking for No more need to buy a keyboard this app can connect wirelessly or through a connection to your Mac Pc and be used to control instruments in your audio program A perfect tool for musicians and media professionals Developer consistently updates the app Definitely worth the money And yes it is a piano It doesn t make music for you It requires a person and talent We recommend it                     Great app perfect for MIDI work with a DAW To Infinity & Beyond
I purchased Pianist Pro mostly to use the Scale Piano interface with Propellerhead Reason Record on my MacBook Pro At first Pianist Pro worked great on my iPad but I couldn t get it to trigger notes on my MBP I contacted MooCowMusic tech support and found them extremely helpful They responded to an email within 18 hours or so just like they promise More importantly they helped me configure Pianist Pro to trigger notes in Reason And I have to say I had doubts when I read that using the OSC to Pure Data configuration suffers very little latency but there s really not very much present over a decent WIFI signal And if you set up the Mac s iPad to computer Ad Hoc Networking the latency drops to nearly nothing Believe it I have yet to spend too much time actually playing the app since I wanted to get this setup working I ve only had it one day But so far everything seems well thought out and conveniently located There are multiple methods for changing where you are playing on both the piano keyboard and Scale Piano keyboard The on board sounds are great although I ll probably be using those in Reason and Record more The one interface change I would suggest is some way to keep the scale and key chooser window open while playing the Scale Piano keys You naturally want to change scales modes for shading or flavor and while you can do it with the current UI you are only left with 1 4 inch keys to pluck All in all this is a great application with great support behind it and comes at a very fair price                     Mooo tastic PropellerheadUSR
I ve been buying tech toys for over 25 years and I can usually tell how good a product is mearly by it s manual Read the resources section in the manual The designer explains in technical and non technical terms Maybe I m blind but it s the first time i ve seen this done 5 stars for that alone I m sure the program needs it s tweaks and stuff which I m not gonna comment on but I m confident they will come Thanks for designing the program it s a tool I ll use heavily                     Resources Potter B the Dog
If all you need is a piano app for the iPad there are others out there that are free However if you do any real work with your iPad as a keyboard take a closer look at Pianist Pro The selling point for me is the MIDI interface capability through OSC allowing the iPad to be used as a note entry device with Finale and Sibelius It takes a bit of work to set it up so read the provided documentation closely If you want to record live an OSC connection is never going to do the trick it will always be late But if you want to use Finale s speedy entry or Sibelius step entry Moo Cow s program works great through OSC Think about it a small M Audio 25 key keyboard will set you back 125 whereas you already have an iPad and for the price of the app you can get the same functionality Actually my M Audios hang up on me frequently no problems with Moo Cow s Pianist Pro I d like to see an easier way to connect OSC to a Mac or PC and am looking forward to seeing what the new MIDI APIs in iOS 4 2 will yield with programs like this                     Great Features Doctor of Music
Very fun I m on this app all the time A bit pricey but it s worth it because a regular piano Costs a lot Love the look of the app but I wish that when you are recording songs that you would be able to record with different sounds like piano and electric piano together ect Should also add more sounds 5 stars if you do                 I think it s great Nicole Paj
Pianist Pro in my view is the historical marker for the first substantive transition from bulky keyboard gear or an acoustic piano to an ultra portable keyboard system It works flawlessly with absolutely no key strike latency I use a bare bones 88 key MIDI keyboard controller and the 69 Line 6 MIDI Maximizer adapter It is that simple and that reasonable There is far more to a piano app than a 99 cent price tag This app is the all inclusive MIDI keyboard digital piano acoustic piano game changer Incredible                     Pianist Pro alone justified the purchase of my 64gig 3g iPad xdennisx
Absolutely stunning UI and a deeper feature set than I ever dreamed possible I m bowled over that this is a 10 app and not a 30 app Bravo to the developers designers everyone involved                     I m in awe ewestby
I was worried about the price which I m still upset about But it is a very nice app                     Great xLiL SM0K3x
OSC with Pianist is simply fantastic and cutting edge Using the Pure Data software is a little tricky and requires some configuration but the reward is great My compliments to the MooCow people I lost my OSC configuration with the new 1 5 version of the software and couldn t quite remember how to regenerate the pd script file A tip use the help file built into the app itself not the online version Then it will appear in iTunes as a shared document which you can save to your desktop right underneath your favorite DAW Thanks to the helpful email support on a weekend nonetheless I was quickly guided through the proper setup A great sounding app as well even if you don t plan to use OSC they must have optimized the grand piano in the new version because it sounds very very good but that s a guess on my part A                     Worth 10 x the price Forestcats
Thankyou for an Amazing app Can t wait for the 1 5 update Let s go MIDI                     Best at what it does SevenStarGod
I m a working musician and this app is one of the primary reasons I bought an iPad It s not 100 perfect yet but it s the best keyboard app in the App Store without question and I ve started recommending it to my students and colleagues Beautifully configurable keyboard excellent samples almost no latency extremely responsive in other words close attention to sonic quality for example no clipping no matter how many samples are sounding at a time unlike many other App Store instrument apps FYI you can easily remove the colored note names from the keys Only real issue is how much screen real estate is used for controls that can t be hidden This is both visually distracting and wasteful of space especially in the dual keyboard mode My favorite improvement would be an option to have only keys onscreen you d touch and hold a certain corner or a tiny i somewhere when you wanted to change info options or at the very least an option to grey out the controls so they re not so distracting visually                     Outstanding keyboard app bluetoucan

I got a great little midi keyboard for five bucks Its really easy to hook up too                 my jaw is still hanging
I was worried about the price which Im still upset about But it is a very nice app                 Great
Nice app                 Piano
I think this app is good for the price Maybe not as fun to play with as garage band now but the wireless MIDI network capability in an app for this price is awesome I paid 50 for a portable keyboard to work in Finale when Im away from my fullsize at home and its one more thing to carry around and one more cable to plug in Works great with notation programs and I love the two keyboard layout which minimizes the need to keep track of what octave your keyboard is in and time spent switching between high and low registers Arrangers and composers should definitely check this out              Good app I like MIDI capabilities
If you want to learn how to play this is not for you This is an elaborate studio for musicians who are full aware of reading and writing notes and playing the piano              Paino PRO

My five year old likes playing it              App is kind of good
I used to use a compact midi controller keyboard Pianist Pro just replaced it This app is a crazy value and extremely playable The Scale Piano is amazing and the way the modulation is applied on the keys is brilliant Programmable arpeggio is very well done Overall the design is truly top notch The only thing I would really like to see still is another piano with a single row of the smaller keys or even better the keys from the scale piano and a couple rows of knobs sliders above for midi CCs                 Just replaced a controller keyboard
Thankyou for an Amazing app Cant wait for the 15 update Lets go MIDI                 Best at what it does

Ive tried six or seven iPad MIDI apps and this is one of the most useful It lets you record sessions and export them as either audio or MIDI So far this is the only app Ive found that will export MIDI files This makes Pianist the app I use on the road to try out and save bits of music The keyboards are OK Pitch and mod can be done a wheel to the left of the screen Amplitude is soft or loud depending on where you touch the key This seems to work only part of the time probably due to how it maps to the synth Im using The tuned bars are very nice You can choose from a wide variety of tunings from Blues to Arabian and use the bars to quickly generate background chords When it loads Pianist Pro sets up a MIDI session on your computer but you still have to click connect in the MIDI setup dialog box This means you need to open AudioSetup and click the button every time you switch to Pianist Pro on your iPad To make it better 1 Autoconnect MIDI to the computer when loading Then I could use Pianist Pro when away from the computer 2 Change amplitude by sliding your finger up or down on the key 3 Create a chorded option for the tuned bars bars should be set to play single note 2note chord 3note chord etc 4 On the two keyboard screen include a button to set the top keyboard to follow the bottom one making it be contiguous to either the top or bottom end This can be done by hand now but its a pain to set up 5 I would give up soft sust arp and drums to have four mappable MIDI control signals But that might just be me In any case most of the other MIDI apps have some control capability              Exports MIDI files good keyboards
Beautiful sounds amazing design Midi connexion and real and immediate help when you need technical support                 Great application
Even if just for the scales mode this piano app is worth its weight in gold Great recording capabilities and options realistic sound and fun to use its been my favorite piano app for quite some time Others come and go but I always come back to Pianist Pro                 My Favorite Piano App
Easy to set up with a little guidance as a wireless midi keyboard Very handy So far works flawlessly I also enjoy the programable arpeggiator function              Works great
Good luck figuring out how to connect the MIDI wireless the settings dont appear as described And you keep having to reconnect when you do get it to work But you wont get that far because the keys freeze and the pitch just starts squealing And there is NO support Report a problem goes to a deadend at their website with no contact info besides an unused Forum Looks like a wonderfully designed app if it worked But they arent there to stand behind their app dont waste your     Beware NO SUPPORT
I absolutely LOVE Pianist which I have been using for a long time both on my iphone and ipad The app is very elegant the sounds piano organ etc are great Im an opera singer and I learn parts and check notes all the time with Pianist Cant quite figure out some advanced functions of Pianist but thats just because they keep adding deeper features                 One of my favourite apps on the iPhone and iPad
Absolutely not worth the money Buy GarageBand instead which is 1 million times better Do NOT buy     Highly overpriced app should NOT be more than 199
This is the app weve been looking for No more need to buy a keyboard this app can connect wirelessly or through a connection to your MacPc and be used to control instruments in your audio program A perfect tool for musicians and media professionals Developer consistently updates the app Definitely worth the money And yes it is a piano It doesnt make music for youIt requires a person and talent We recommend it                 Great app perfect for MIDI work with a DAW
Very fun Im on this app all the time A bit pricey but its worth it because a regular piano Costs a lot Love the look of the app but I wish that when you are recording songs that you would be able to record with different sounds like piano and electric piano together ect Should also add more sounds 5 stars if you do              I think its great
This app has a lot of nice features but one glaring omission it cannot be configured so that the key width is the same as a standard piano Please add a simple option to make the keys standard width           No Standard Sized Keys
This app is perrfect                 Amazing
This is an alright app The sampling for the instruments is pretty good There were a couple things that would have raised the score for me I bought this because it had the option of exporting audio as a wave Yes it does this but in order to use that audio you then have to hook it back up to your computer and move it to a different area of your iPad There are several music apps that have found ways around this limitation and since this product is not a DAW it should have an easier way to move the audio around Seems to be a problem with a lot of the iPad music apps Great functionality but terrible options for audio transfer Fix this and I think it will be a great way to record piano and other sounds on the fly to be used with other daw software           Pretty good
