Updated the app today Now there is an ad at the bottom of the screen Sad I updated this app

Disappointing Sound worked initially but now does not work Even reloaded and tried hard reset and still no sound otherwise a good app No sound

Ive always loved wildlife yet have a mind like a sieve when it comes to remembering specifics about animals Since putting up 2 feeders in my yard theres been a gaggle of different birds tweeting feeding and competing With this app I can see read listen and record the types of birds Its actually fun like a video game but real life Yes its fun to report and keep a list of what Ive seen but its just plain awesome to begin to identify the sound and sights right in my own backyard I use the iPhone version on hikes too Amateur nature dude loves this

I can rarely get the toolbar to come up when it is hidden which makes this app useless Poor usability

For a free app this is superb Great features and lots of detail Will definitely be paying the cash to buy the full app now I know how good it is Brilliant

Once you get into the section viewing the drawings of the birds theres no way to get out I had to close the application and then be sure to shut it down in my iPhone There was no way to get back to the main menu This needs to be fixed Hard to use

Cant get any sound to work No sound

The navigation is terrible Home page shows a Bald Eagle but it is not to be found in the app Couldnt find a Golden Eagle either Disappointing

I loved this app until the day the bird sounds stopped coming It was one of my favorite parts of the app Please fix this bug It also happened with my paid Peterson field guide app Sound

THIS IS AN UNBELIEVABLE APP It has sooo many features and allows you to create life lists of sightings Beautiful Drawings and Definitely worth it AMAZING APP

Compared to other free apps this one is practically useless due to the small number of birds contained Very few birds that I searched for were on this even several common ones Not enough selection to use Bait and switch

The info on birds seems very comprehensive but the app on iphone5 is not user friendly The toolbars cannot be accessed unless I use a stylus This is not convenient Nor can I access the first page which has the support option I have to delete the app to access support Peterson birds

The update improvements on this app make it one of my favorites now Thanks to the developers for making it very user friendly and for the beautiful graphics Beautifully done

Having used the Peterson guides for many years I am delighted to be able to have a guide right in my iPhone Its so handy to be able to identify birds at any time The bird photos are just like the books and make ID so easy Thank you Love this app

This is a nice app that could be a great app after some fixes Sound does not work on the iPad 3 Some icons are not intuitive eg Tape icon for sighting The full app is the natural upgrade if you are more into birds than the casual user but would first like to see all the basic features working Nice app No sound

I used backyard daily played sounds on iPhone to call 10 different species quick efficient great Have hat petersons big app but time ti look up one bird was waaaaaay to involved back yard perfectuntil TODAY Loaded IOS 9 and updated most apps new back yard is a typical greedy corporate attempt for in app purchases and throwing a lot if convulsions to get anywhere it the search for profit worst upgrade u have come across Will be using Merlin exclusively from now on way better search sounds superb and NOW FASTER THAN BACKYARD Favorite to HORRIBLE

This is a wonderful ap for kids to acquaint them with bird identification Use it with my kids some as young as 4 and they love it Now I dont mind going out and buying a full fledged field guild for them because I know they will use it Great ap

There is no waterbirds and most of the species featured are passerines or raptors The format is alright though but this app could be better if it featured a greater variety of species families and if it added the IUCN status of each species to general information Not complete

This is a wonderful app It has so many great features such as being able to listen to the calls and the implementation is just amazingly well done Just click on the bird you want to learn about and go Fantastic App

The Petersen name has a better reputation than what is included in this app I am very disappointed with the advertising that is included and the lack of species Owls are not included at all along with about half of the warbler family I dont know where the app creators live but I have these birds in my backyard I need to use my printed ID book about half the time which makes this app more of a novelty for the kids to play with disappointing app

I love that it has the audio of the birdsong This made watching my bird feeder so much more interesting Great app

We have loved the Peterson apps and used DAILY Spring birds are arriving but now neither of the Peterson apps have sound PLEASE PLEASE FIX Sound Absence

I love birding but I am also a professional biologist The graphics and sounds are lovely but many species are missing More like a sample of the paid app Fine for casual birders
