This interactive field guide to the wildlife of 50 National Parks includes all the birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians you`ll encounter while visiting a park as well as helps you identify native trees and wildflowers. ...
A field guide should include trail maps and information that can be used in the field This is more of a childrens primer containing the most superficial and publicly available information for the parks it includes Dont be fooled into thinking that you will download this app and use it in the field like as a field guide Also note that its not an iPad app Hopefully this will be expanded to become a cool field guide that iPad users can carry into the National Parks While not connected to a network Silly     Shallow poorly conceived
This app is a keeper I already have trail map apps This app is not for that purpose It contains a large and comprehensive volume of information on wildlife There are many parks in California where I live and it looks like there are many other states that are covered in this app with exception to the ones in tornado alley                 Its a keeper
And it is FANTASTIC it performs like an app should It is not slow It has bird calls photos and ID pointers like a field guide should have It is not a trail or park guide Highly recommended for birders hikers who want to know what they seeing and people with botany interests                 This is a FIELD GUIDE
Please find it in your hearts to give us a way to download a park at a time so we dont have to have wifi to access When Im standing outside where else would you be in a national park Id like to be able to read about where I am              Very helpful but
Great app tons of info Wish I had this wildflower guide last month when I was at Mt Rainier With 577 wildflower species included this app is like a real field guide                 Like a true field guide
How hard is it to put those three little words Data Connection Reqd in the Requirements field Virtualy usless wo a device resident Data Base preferably available by park to save space     Data Connection Req
As much as I like the idea the app is almost worthless Whats the point of using the current location if the nearest park it shows is across two state lines Also parks are not described sufficiently have to use browser to get even basic general park info Will keep the app for now hoping these and other issues will be improved     Work in progress I hope
Nothing for the adirondacks or van i not find it           What
This is probably my favorite app Cannot believe all the information thats on it and its free I recommend this to anyone whether your a park lover or not its a must to download Amazing pictures user friendly and a wonderful field guide Defiantly a five star app in my book Hopefully a few more parks will be added but with the amount of info on this app Ill be busy for awhile Great job                 Simply beautiful
Really wonderful concept After a few days all I get is white screen           Nice while it worked
I found it disappointing for the iPad clearly not developed for that platform and I found the requirement of access to the Internet makes it less useful when visiting a NP if 3G or Wifi isnt available Also judging from one NP Mt Rainier the information isnt all the complete or accurate for anything more than cursory help and some of it was factual in error I also didnt appreciate the skip to ads when viewing some of the pages Ill wait for the next revision and real iPad version           Disappointing
This is a nice idea but I just found several plant species that are confined to beaches listed in mt rainier and north cascades NPs neither of which has beaches        Ditto the species inaccuracy
Love this app there are SO many pictures calls and so much information I found it really convenient when I used it this past weekend Worked perfectly on my 3gs even when we were pretty far from civilization Found out what I always thought was the cry of a redtailed hawk was actually a sharpshinned hawk very cool While I hear folks who want to be able to download it all onto their phone its a huge app and I dont think I want all that data clogging up my iPhone To each his own                 Amazingly complete and useful
Thank you so much for such a wonderful userfriendly field guide I love that I can easily take this information with me since I always have my iPhone camera on hand when out in nature Great job                 Love this app
Really like the pictures and organization of this app Is there any way that the animal lists could become check lists so I can mark off animals I have seen at each park              Nice app
THIS APP IS AMAZING COMPLETE to the point there is audio for bird songs This is one of the best apps I have ever used Great to navigate Should be used even if you never get to a national parkcuz its the next best thing to being there THANKS NPCA                 WOW
Good information but need for Internet totally defeats use as field guide In most parks theres no wifi little useable cell phone Internet Try to find a wildflower in Yellowstone Or even a bird call in regional parks around San Francisco Do your advance planning on a computer Download what you need And get a downloadable field guide Recommend iBird for birds     Nice preview but otherwise useless
I dont understand the positive reviews The information is far from comprehensive to the point of being almost useless I was shocked at how feeble this app is given its description The NPCA is a good organization but this app does it a great disservice The fact that it is free is not an excuse This app deserves negative stars unfortunately I have to give it at least one     beyond disappointed
Interesting but quite simplified App uses some out of date taxonomy Repeats species lists for broad swaths of the environment Not specific to the park Gives very general natural history information The woodrat species is incorrect for Blue Ridge Parkway Alleghany Woodrat and Smokies correct name is Eastern Woodrat The picture of a bobcat in Blue Ridge Parkway seems to be from California Bobcats look different in the eastern US           Professorwildlife ecology
I downloaded this app because it was free and I love to visit the National Parks of the US I was surprised that it had so many animals and wildlife listed and for the birds you can actual listen to the songs I paid for an app that was only bird calls and this one has way more birds for free It would be cool if they offered that feature for the other animals like frogs and bats But it seems like an extra feature so Im not complaining especially for a free app The pictures are fantastic and theres great info for each item It covers mammals birds reptiles trees and they can also be located by dangerous or endangered for the area It even tells you other animals that may look similar to the one selected The info about the specific park selected is also good It includes a link to the website as well as contact info and hours for the park visitor center which I am really happy about I would like to see more things added with updates or a paid version like Niagara Falls and Cuyahoga Valley National Park which is a fairly new addition to the National Parks list Awesome APP                 More than I expected
I love what NPCA does and I know this is a labor of love but it needs some serious attention Its very slow to respond buggy and should be updated for the new iPhone 5 screen           Needs Update
This is a great park guide I cant wait to use it at the Grand Canyon in a couple of weeks I just wish you could save information for one park at a time so you dont have to always have an Internet connection              Great Guide to our National Parks
overall this app looks very useful but dont totally rely on it to accurately tell you what species may be found in a given park For instance it shows the western rattlesnake as being in Olympic National Park But there are no rattlesnakes in western Washington let alone Olympic              species inaccuracies
The following Parks are missing Cuyahoga Valley Arches Bryce Canyon Capitol Reef Carlsbad Caverns Great Basin Redwoods Voyager Its a start but it could have much more info           I Wish it included ALL the parks
Most descriptions if theyre present are very thorough Whether theyre accurate is a different question Wildlife lists arent necessarily parkspecific There are whales in the Shenandoah National Forest Oh really Would be nice to be able to search and input a park name rather than scrolling through all of them Cool app but can be improved significantly        Seems to be a work in progress
I love the NPCA and was excited to try out their app Essentially it is an advertisement to join the organization there are often pop ups with information on joining which is slightly frustrating since I am already a member As for the guides themselves There is a little work to be done For example if you select endangered species found in Death Valley National Park it lists the blue and humpback whales It will be a nice reference with some development I use it in addition to the Audubon guides to get an idea of what species will be found in a specific park           Great organization app not so much
The first thing I did was go to maps because I dont know the formal names of the parks near me It crashes every time when loading the maps Too bad looks like it might have been interesting        Primary functionality broken
Its so informational and awesome I love it so much Thank you                 Amazing
Great app But needs an update              Please Update
Ill be tapping on something for more info and the program closes happened several times in just 2 minutes     keeps crashing
I had high hopes for this app No it wasnt need for wifi or Internet that did it in It was the misinformation Example for the Channel Island National Park there wasnt any mention about the islands mainlargest land mammal the Island fox but did list a number of other animals listed on the mainland not the park I just cant trust the information given on this app It was a nice idea but it needs someone to proofreader the information Uninstalling     High hopes
Nice app But it is missing information and does not have all of the national parks           Needs more work
It really doesnt contain as much information as I would like and the format is such to where I have to keep moving to page after page It would be easier if it was formatted like wikipedia Like I just went to Joshua tree np and the summary was very small no info on trails or things to do points of interest It mentioned there was an entry fee but didnt say how much You cant save anything it seems Might as well just go to the actual park website If you want to know about the plants and animals get this Otherwise get something else           Format needs help
I thought that this was a fantastic APP until I realized that you have to be connected to the internet to use it While some National Parks do have wifi access they are only in the lodges and in the visitor centers Since I have an ipodtouch this means that I can not use this APP out in the field where I would want to use it           disappointed
