Oregon Atlas

I am a big fan of Benchmarks paper maps I have their entire collection but as I have this app is too buggy and limited to like or even use After downloading the Oregon landscapeelevation map I browsed around and was disappointed that it isnt an overlay but is instead a replacement for the Benchmark map If I zoom out I get the benchmark map at resolutions that dont include their offload details Zooming in brings the nonbenchmark map into view and all of the benchmark road details are lost As a basic map program it is very limited there are many other apps including free ones that do a better job and without the benchmark details I wonder why anyone would want it I then put my iPad into Airplane mode to test offline usage and YIKES it even worse The tiles I loaded into cache trumped the benchmark maps again But in areas when I hadnt explored before going into offline mode the displayed Sometimes in zoomed out benchmark mode and some times zoomed in And the cached veg maps were interspersed Both incredibly ugly and borderline useless In offline mode was able to get the Benchmark maps to display in some regions but not others Unless I dragged from a correctly displayed region to a region that had previously been broken If I went directly to that area and tried zooming in or out at varying resolutions it failed I bought the California version of their iPad app last year and was disappointed with it But at least it worked I havent used it since i bought it because of its limitations but after the far more disappointing experience with the Oregon map I decided to fire it up again OMG It too has been made virtually unusable Wow and bummer I highly recommend their paper maps yet I would strongly recommend you dont buy their iPad apps until they fix them As someone who does a great deal of off road riding I so very much want to like their apps but the quality of them is so subpar even I cant stomach them        Very buggy

So far so cool I REALLY want to see the rest of the Western US as soon as they are able to release them WA especially Ill definitely buy most if not all of them though This is exactly what Ive wanted to finally see on the iOS platform Glad they made it as a dual iPhoneiPad app Cant wait to use it I give it 4 stars on initial impression because I love the layout and it feels smart and intuitive allinclusive but not cluttered Ive read about some bugs and crash issues so I hope that the developers are diligent because too many in the past have just about abandoned theirs I doubt Benchmark will do that considering this could be a nice addition to their business So yeah Im really excited about what Im seeing here so please keep em coming again especially WA Thanks              Initial Thoughts
