It feels like ever since the iPad came out Ive been waiting for a really good sheet music reader and finally Yamahas come out with one that far surpasses anything else out there right now I LOVE how it intelligently anticipates the next line youre reading by slowly replacing the line you just read It completely eliminates the need for pageturning and makes for a totally seamless playing experience The looping and temposhift temposhifting WITHOUT pitchshifting mind you always a plus features makes practicing tricky sections far easier and more enjoyable and the ability to turn different parts of the backing track off comes in handy when you dont feel like having silly backup vocalists Allaround it just feels and performs wonderfully Id like to see more songs available from the store though so hopefully theyll continue adding good content to this and continue making it better and better Absolutely a mustdownload for piano players of any level                 Color me impressed

This is by far the best sheet music reading app currently on the app store but if Yamaha is paying attention to customers they should add the following features to make this app truly ground breaking 1 CoreMidi output so that the songs can be played back on any connected digital piano such as a Yamaha Clavinova where you you would then have the added bonus of the key lights to help you learn how to play the song 2 the ability to mute the lead vocal melody and play an instrument instead such as a flute or piano 3 the ability to change the midi instruments 4 choose between a male or female vocal 5 ability to import and playback standard midi and karaoke midi files              Great app but

Sound is great So easy to use and customize as well A nice mix of songsstyles available as well              Very easy and fun

This App is exactly what I have been wanting and needing for a long time Now I actually sound like a Musician The background notation and singing are excellent and the ability to change keys slow the tempo down and practice troublesome measures is really a Godsend I also think the price for the songs you like is fair not too expensive and not really cheap and I hope more song choices will be forthcoming in the future Thanks again and keep up the good work                 Thank you NoteStar

It showed me the logo screen but would not go from there It just kicked me to the home screen     Wouldnt launch properly

This app really raises the bar on what a sheet music reader should be like on the iPad The music is the right size for the screen for one thing instead of being shrunk down from a PDF In fact you can choose from a range of note sizes Dont think anyone else has done that I LOVE the pageless page turn transitions too The audio backing tracks are awesome good job yamaha                 first rate music app

The NoteStar app was already ahead of the game by offering digital sheet music that turns pages automatically in synchronization with high quality audio with a backup band and vocals As advertised NoteStar allows pianistskeyboardists the karaokelike experience to feel what its like to play with a real band The pricing of the sheet music is very aggressive for the benefit of the consumers You get a lot for your money as you can transpose songs to various keys and resize the notation without spending a single penny more than what you payed initially This along with the backup digital audio demonstrates the superiority of this format over what you get from buying paper sheet music 399 for the songs with Full Band with vocals already beats most digital sheet music retailers In version 2 some songs without vocals are now just 299 and solo piano pieces for only 199 I also appreciate that theyve given the 399 songs even ones youve purchased in version 1 the ability to turn off the vocals It was a small detail but I think it will please users that want to play the piano part and sing along with the band at the same time Ideally it would be nice to have the option to buy every song with or without vocals but I understand Yamaha is probably limited with what they can offer due to complicated licensing issues However the fact that they slashed the price of songs without vocals was a very pleasant surprise The 30second preview is also a great way for consumers to try songs before they buy it Some features that Id like to see added include 1 More songs added As has been stated in other reviews users want more songs particularly more recent pop songs Yamaha should tap more into its army of studio musicians to release recent hits as soon as they possibly can Theyve got a really innovative product here and some consumers might not realize it simply because they are turned off by the lack of immediacy of being able to play along with their new favorite song right now The move to include more piano solos especially of the classical genre is interesting and should be explored more Im curious how NoteStar would handle pieces by composers like Chopin that require more artistic license in rubato The preprogrammed recordings would only lock users into one way they could play 2 Support for handsfree page turns with accessories like bluetooth foot pedals While this probably only applies to a small niche I could imagine some users wanting to practice really slow without the backup accompaniment Also it isnt unfathomable for musicians to use this as their sheet music to take out on gigs to play without the prerecorded tracks As stated earlier users might take their own liberties with tempo or repeats that dont coincide with the preprogrammed automatic page turns and turning pages with a foot pedal would make it convenient 3 Ability to play along music from iTunes library within the app While I applaud Yamaha for making highquality backup tracks theres a segment of users that want to play along with the real thing Im not suggesting going to the trouble of syncing the sheet music to the iTunes track although that would be cool if they could pull it off but other apps allow you to play your iTunes music in the background while the app is running I dont see why you couldnt do it within the NoteStar App as well                 NoteStar version 20 is a hit

Good display of music however I would like to see my previously purchased Yamaha content It would also be awesome to have a popup keyboard or guitar tabulator to complete the package        Not a bad start

Finally a fast and responsive sheet music reader Forget apps with weird page flips Awesome sounding backing tracks really allow you to enjoy playing along My favorite feature of all is the ability to loop over measures i need to work on Simply Smashing                 Smashing

Its a great app and when its right its fantastic but very often it will have just blatantly the wrong notes in the song You can hear the correct notes played by the recording but the sheet music just has it wrong Id say I noticed this once or twice is every song regardless of difficulty level I love the format and the choices and I use it almost exclusively however I wish they would fix this problem And the blue line is not in time with the recording making it basically useless              Sloppy

Yamaha have got it right This is real interactive digital sheet music Smooth accurate scrolling in time to the music The bar ahead wipes over the previous bar to allow you to read ahead perfectly Add transposition to change key looping and the ability to slow the tempo without changing pitch and its quick and easy to learn any of these tracks Best of all the backing tracks are by real musicans using real instruments not midi They include vocals keyboard and backing instruments which an be switched on or off as you see fit The app is free and the first song is free This is a great producthighly recommended                 Amazing Finally true digital sheet music

this is the best sheet music reader ive seen so far you can even change the key of a song and the song will be pitch shift to match it                 excellent

Fabulous app Favorite feature is the eliminated page turn Perfect that it gives those of us who read ahead the timing we need Please please please add the features of us somehow being able to add our own sheet music and maybe a suggestion box of music we would love to have thats not there yet For example the sheet music for RENT would be great                 Amazing

What a wonderful app Amazing technology This is everything a professional pianist needs You have a sheetmusic store a reader and a player all in one Once youve downloaded a score then the real magic begins a quick smooth viewerplayer displays the score plays it back and actually follows the score no more page turns Awesome This is not it I like the looping tool too excellent for students Really helpful when trying to practice a specific segment of music But especially I like the transposing tool now this comes in handy when working with singers It smoothly transposes the music to the desired key and even plays it back in the new key Excellent                 Its about time very cool

Having just downloaded the app I played one of the sample songs Clocks At one point it stopped and asked if I wanted to purchase I tapped the button that said Purchase assuming because there was NO PRICE shown it would take to one of those Are You Sure messages and tell me how much Nope Im now the proud owner of Clocks and I still do not know how much it was I guess I will wait for the charge This is despicable There is no other word for it As we see more and more retailers refusing to disclose pricing until the very last moment this is the ultimate you dont get the price until AFTER youve purchased I dont care if its 99 cents this kind of behavior is the lowest form retail practice Im surprised that Yamaha would stoop to it but I assume they have offloaded the management of this app to some 3rd party mercenary Buyer beware UPDATE should have looked at the InApp Purchase price list over on the left 399 per song Not too bad but why cant they include pricing on the App It still stinks     Does not show the song prices

Simple and effective yet boasting a lot of great features Its far more convenient than traditional sheet music especially with the cool automatic page turning mechanic that flows seamlessly into playback Practicing my favorite songs has never been easier I also got a kick out of the transposition feature changing voices to chipmunk or Barry White level D                 Simple and Effective

Okay so this app is actually pretty amazing You can download music sheets and it can play them back etc The collection of songs to choose from is pretty big The whole interface is actually very nice too very intuitive It lets you adjust the volume for left and right parts and when available adjust the volume between other instrumentsvoice and piano part The downside is there are lots of good songs missing But is mostly the not so popular ones There are many songs by japanese composers that I dont see here The biggest downside to the app is the app itself is too slowbuggy to the point of making it a bit frustrating This only happens when navigating the store and when trying to buydownload a new song I find myself having to tap buttons repeatedly until it finally decided to work Please improve it Overall great concept great interface Needs bug fixesimprovements And of course addition of not so popular composers songs Maybe an option to request a particular song Now that would be NEAT           Great Concept

Amazing quality and sound New update is fantastic in that you can now shut off lead vocals making it a perfect Karaoke experience along with the ability to be in the band as the keyboardist                 Pure Awesome

I am a sophomore in music college Next semester I will take Piano 3 and all I can say is I love this app and wish I had it when I began piano and singing Truly truly something amazing here Play all your favorite songs I sat down and in 10 minutes as a novice played the intro to Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts with near 100 accuracy around 80 speed A song Ive always wanted to play but couldnt With some work I will be able to with this app Pretty sizable song list Classics and non Excited to see Hanons in here Only negative is that your favorite tune may not be in here But with so many greats to choose from I hardly see that as a problem                 Just amazing

I learned the piano part to Unfaithful by Rihanna so I tried playing it with just the vocals on the app TERRIBLE SINGING The voice is annoying changes tempo and out of tune in some parts The runs are sung completely differently than the notes in the actually sheet music           Everything but vocals is good
