The NEJM iPad Edition is now available as a free download on Apple Store for iPad owners. The application is designed for use in English language. It weighs in at only 2.6 MB to download. The new NEJM iPad Edition app version 1.2.0 has been updated on 2014-11-19. The Apple Store includes a very useful feature that will check if your device and iOS version are both compatible with the app. Most iPhone and iPad are compatible. This app works mostly fine but I m not sure what the benefit is over just going to the NEJM website If you want to do CME this app directs you to the website anyway Also this app still can t handle interactive medical cases In fact it doesn t mention those cases on the app version Therefore you can lose out on the benefit of the education and not even know unless you check your paper based journal or go to the website itself It s been years and they haven t addressed these problems Addendum Years later interactive cases are still not available for this app Step up your game and get better reviews         What s the benefit over just going to the website BobbGWhiz

Bad news If you delete and reinstall the App even from the cloud you will destroy your library You will have to go back and re download and re install each issue to restore your library with back issues I stopped after a year I had to work on my OTHER App Maybe tomorrow I ll finish A million dollar classy publication with a dumpy 10 cent App Go figure Go back to paper W A V     William A Vlasek Veetso

Easy and intuitive to navigate Downloads are relatively quick Image and video quality are outstanding on the iPad Air I may never look at my print issues again I had previously written a scathing review back when the videos and images required Flash which is not supported on Apple mobile devices                     Updates are outstanding Drmich

App works great for me functions as it is supposed to I would love it if they added a function so that you could easily mark which issues you ve already read It would be nice for that identification to carry over so that if you delete the issue from your library when it shows up in the store you can still tell that you ve read the issue That way you won t re download an issue you ve already read                 Useful app with room for improvement chardb2

Why are there ads in an application where I pay for a subscription I get that the app is free but I doubt many people use it without a subscription to the journal Once I ve paid for something I don t want ads in my way They are especially obtrusive in the middle lower third of the screen Come on NEJM you can do better             Ads irishfrog

Downloaded it to my ipad and loaded the last 2 issues to read on the plane while flying The app kept crashing when i tried to open an article I think you have to get the articles on pdf version on ibooks if you plan to read it offline without wi fi             Bugs in system apexbeat

The app itself is a nice way to access the NEJM articles and download them to my ipad for easy viewing It s great carrying around the magazines all on one device The biggest complaint I have is that the app will occassionally require me to log back in and in so doing erases all of the journals I have downloaded to my device causing me to have to re download them Very inconvenient when I am planning on doing some light reading without a solid wifi connection and suddenly don t have access to my previously downloaded articles Fix this and my rating will improve         Good but buggy Doctor Flex

I m really happy to get the NEJM on my iPad I only wish it was available on the newsstand instead of separate app But this is a minor point Overall the app works perfectly the price of subscription is lower trees are saved and it is much more convenient then carrying storing a printed journal Tank you for making it available on the iPad                 Review Jv unhappy

At first when I installed this app there were no problems I could download the journals read the articles then complete the CME s But lately every time I try to load an article the app crashes and I am returned to the IPad main screen It is easier to access the articles on Safari but the resolution is not as good I am glad it was free Perhaps it is because I own an original IPad but regardless It has been a disappointment         Too many crashes pssaba

A beautiful and intuitive app with one major missing feature the ability to highlight and export or the ability at least to open an article in another app to allow highlighting annotating exporting An advantage of digital journals is the ability to consolidate articles and annotations of interest in a common site Evernote for me to avoid the anxiety provoking experience of watching multiple unread issues accumulate in the office or now in multiple and unconnected apps on my iPad please facilitate the connectivity                 Very Good but mdinill

Good app However the fact that it is only accessible with an individual subscriber login completely alienates those of us who are in academic medicine and therefore have institutional access to NEJM I would use this all the time if there were some way to enter library proxy information and get access to content through that route Until then I literally cannot use this app and am forced to use the website instead         Needs to allow institutional access Ben Ferguson
