The registration page doesnt work so the app is utterly unusable How sad that such an allegedly elite journal has such a dysfunctional app Dont waste your time Instead read Science magazine in the Zinio app which works beautifully     Unusable
Just a really welldone app Worthy of the precious space next to my text message icon                 Phenominal
Requires registration before the app can even be opened but the registration screen fails and loops you back to filling in your info over and over again Im amazed this obvious flaw wasnt caught in beta testing since the app demands that the registration process work or else you cant even use it at all FAIL App deleted     Worthless
Swiping from one storyarticle to the next often does not work New issues show the wrong cover on the main page It would be nice to be able to view the issues as they are presented in the print format in addition to the iPad formatting        Pretty Bad
I like this app very much But I have one quibble The app shows the cover for the previous weeks issue as the current weeks cover Only when you open up to the TOC do you see the correct cover Its odd As far as everything else the reader performs well Its a great alternative to the printed edition              One quibble
App wont work with new OS Come on Nature     Non Functioning
Todays update works with iOS 6     New reader works
This is an app that is unforgiving If you have a subscription that has lapsed all content becomes inaccessible immediately I am not a professional scientist I am a very interested humanist who subscribed to Nature for some time reading as much as I could and understanding much of it The printed magazines stayed at home and this app allowed me to read them while commuting But I let my subscription lapse and on that very day while I was actually reading an issue I had just downloaded it became inaccessible I emailed customer service who asked which article I had been reading saying they would allow me to continue it as a courtesy This was absurd     Unforgiving
The design and layout are simple to use and aesthetically pleasant However the use of the app is limited as there is no option to access through an institution Even if a personal subscription to Nature is done all the content in the other journals is not available It would also be nice to access other journals from the Nature Publishing Group not just the Nature series The reader is very nice but features like night mode reading and font selection are desirable as well        Good but need improvements
Does not recognize institutional subscription I do not plan to buy an individual subscription since my institution does for me This makes this app useless to me     Does not recognize institutional subscription
Ok but far from the level and the reputation of Nature           Not at the level of Nature journal
There is no way to get access to the contents of any journal without a subscription The subscription cannot be purchased within the application You have to go to their website and go through the whole process sarately     Only works with external subscription
This app would be great except it does not allow access through proxy or institutional subscription     Institutional access
this is very good app but needs some text to speech function           need tts
The recent update did nothing to fix the poor user experience of this app It feels old fashioned with none of the elegant user experience promised by the iPad The articles are flat text with a few links interspersed but have no formatting Equations look like they were typed in by my 12 yo kid and the figures are not visible you have to click a link and leave the page Most upsetting there is no table of contents or ability to browse a particular issue My institutional library subscription gives me better access through the web site I want the cost of my personal subscription back     Still lousy
So far the app looks intuitive and easy to surf as well as collective                 Simple way to access Nature Publicafions
Briefly looking at the abstracts available here they are nothing like a scientific abstract only a teaser for the article The whole point of a free app is to give some free content to entice the reader and make it worthwhile Not here This is not found in Natures app the articles and editorial reviewed Even the editorial is not posted online All else requires in app purchase to read any of the content Avoid this app     Nothing to see here Zero
Takes long time to load abstracts and they are not even abstracts One sentence synopsis of papers Almost useless Unable to use institutional proxy     Ridiculously clunky and minimal
Ive been using this app for a couple of years now and most of the previous problems have been ironed out I find that its a very good and convenient way of reading the magazine Just remember to delete issues once youve finished reading them                 Much improved app
Its certainly not an amazing enough app that Im going to shell out for a subscription when I already have institutional access to all of the content Why not let me access it via this portal Also its not cool that collect usage data is enabled silently by default for shame scientific journal without informed consent        Needs institutional login
A simple tasteful and well organized app Thank you Cosmos for the shoutout B                 Thank you Cosmos
It seems few people have discovered this app What a shame                 First Review
Nature is a very expensive journal and the fact I cant access it because of this poorly designed app argues for cancelling my subscription Whoever your app designer is needs to be fired     App Doesnt Work
This app needs a method to login through an organization that has access Useless otherwise     No proxy
just installed the app on my mini but it cant seem to complete a full issue download        cant download an issue
Used to love it but cant open it since the iOS 6 upgrade     Doesnt work in iOS 6
Last time I renewed Nature I complained of no digital subscription you can get Science through Zinio This is far better Articles are properly formatted for reading Browsing and searching are easy You can bookmark or download PDFs of interesting articles or share them with colleagues or students Excellent app                 Far better than Zinio
Every time there is new update the nature app wont work You guys may have high impact factors but when it comes to your apps they have no impacts     Why do they do this
I would have really loved this app The layout looks great and it would have been an immense convenience for following my favorite Nature journals However NPG seems to have forgotten that a huge and important part of its readers are researchers in universities and other settings where they have institutional and not personal subscriptions Through the app I am restricted from the same articles that I can open up Safari and view while connected to my schools network or VPN Please fix this issue     Useless for institutional subscribers
Natures initial Reader was a slapdash concoction but this one is thoughtfully produced It downloads an issue of your choice and then presents you with a well organized Table of Contents The content is accessed though that by swiping left or right when in an article or by tapping once when in an article to reveal a banner of the contents at the top of the screen and navigation and other tools along the sides A little surprising when by clicking on a reference you wind up on the website but still inside the app Would be better if all links that are to the same issue leave you within that issue For instance when reading a News Views going to the Article should not take you to the browser version but to that page in the app Nice figure viewer which includes captions a real necessity sometimes Also nice are the affiliation popups The order of Research articles in the top banner seems to make no sense It almost looks alphabetical by title rather than in the order of the real Table of Contents so that physical science is First and biology following All in all a much needed improvement over the previous unusable addition Requires you to sign in to get all of the content that you are entitled to and it handled that step just fine Science also has a nice Reader so we finally have both journals with iPadworthy viewers Now if a subscription were available that allowed reasonably priced access though tablets rather than requiring purchase of print as well              At last much improved
A terrific convenience Runs perfectly well on my iPad 3 running iOS 601                 Outstanding on the iPad 3
Finally this is the app ive been waiting for Huge improvement Now can we gwt it for the iphone too                 Great magazine and now a great app
I wanted to see if I wanted this on the web or a printed version so I signed up for 1 month to check it out I decided on the printed version which includes the iPad one In the app it has a cancellation policy which states that it can only be done through their submit a question or by phone I called their customer service and complained that it should not be this difficult to cancel because you need a customer number The number is located in the app under account information after you sign in I explained I wanted to cancel my iPad subscription and he says I need to submit a question to cancel So I sent the required information but then Im charged again So I called customer service three times and get a recording about their hours of operation and to leave a message Im not happy and figured I could stop the subscription through iTunes which is how it was supposed to be done in the fist place What a joke youd think that a journal like Nature would have customer service that was service oriented     Pathetic Customer Service
First time Im leaving a message because Im so mad It has been auto renewing the subscription 10per month for half a year It didnt say anything about it the first time I purchased     Dont download
App has good features but a long way to go Articles from Nature should have the date so you can go to the right issue without having to search Every time I access an article and return I am flipped back to the last article Would be much better to return to where I was           Clunky
Looks to be a beautiful app but why would anyone pay for a subscription twice I suspect this app will have a difficult time gaining traction until it supports institutional subscribers through VPN Add that function and Id be a fan     No support for institutional subscribers No thanks
Few functions are consistently working Very frustrating If this was a manuscript not acceptable in any journal     Disappointing App from the leading science journal
This app worked great for a while now it just throws me out everytime I click on a article The articles i could read were intelligent and the topics awesome We need more Too bad it quit working I deleted it        What happened
Ive used this app on my iPad since it first began It has a clean and clear interface The journal is easy to download In fact I look forward to each Wednesday when it is first released and download it immediately There is a slight change with the new version The PDFs seem to open only in SafariWeb Browser instead of in an internal reader While there is a slight lag in opening Safari I can now download it put it in an eReader or mail it to Evernote or myself This App is far superior to Science Magazines app All of the articles are downloaded for offline reading They are not downloaded on Science And now that my combined subscription is going up to super high rates Ill be switching to the app only subscription Wish it would do the web too but well see                 Nature Cant Be Beat
You have to pay extra even if you already have an online subscription     costs extra
I cannot get into this weeks issue through this app I can get there by clicking on the Mail notification that the new issue is out Subscribers who can only get free content may need to go to My Account and make sure the home site has the right password try using your subscriber number from the magazine label     needs work
Despite putting in my name and password will not provide full content Keeps steering me to pay to subscribe     Cant get content
Just paid ten bucks for the month and now I cant access the articles because it crashes on startup Please update           Crashes in iOS 6
This would be a nice way to read a great journal but it doesnt give me access from my VPN or when on my university network Too bad        Doesnt work with VPN
But after two months of using the app for whatever reason the new issues would not download My subscription is not expired my subscription is to NatureGeoscience which releases monthly The new issue is out now and I can view it on the website Whenever I open the app it does its initial updating and says Complete Except for that it isnt Please fix I rely on this app since reading on the website is dreadful on iPad        Used to be wonderful
Crashes in iOS 6 Please fix     CRASHING
After installing this I tapped on something and the first message that came up was BUY ACCESS I clicked on that and it asked me to set up yet another password and give my email address I dont need that Im deleting this app     You must purchase access
Using this app with my institutions VPN I can read full articles on Natures website using iOS Safari but this app doesnt detect this Consequently I can only browse abstracts which is a shame Useless in its present form     Does not detect institutional IP to bypass paywall
This app could be so much more and I do hope that it will be someday It does not have the feel of a magazine it is more like a stack of folders each containing one news item or article Embeded in each of the folders are other folders containing the figures You have to open each folder one at a time in order to view its contents More advanced journals have multiple articles layed out on a page with hotlinks Nature and NEJM online are both good examples IMO This complaint may be my own error Under search advanced article type there is mention of the Futures stories yet I cant find any of them anywhere In fact much of the content appears to be missing        A placeholder for an app yet to be developed
Downloaded app and logged into my Nature subscription Allowed me to do that but nothing else I tried to download a few issues of Nature which it appeared to do But then after it finished it said failed to download Has done this multiple times Bottom line it is just an app to view the cover of each issue but does nothing beyond that Dont bother     Doesnt work
