Music Theory for Beginners is the ultimate resource for anyone trying to get to grips with music theory. The App has been constructed and tested by accomplished musicians and theorists, and designed in a way that ...
I teach private piano lessons and see about 55 kids a week Ive been looking an app like this for a while Its a great addition if youre using any method book faber Alfred bastian etc A few things Id like to see are a bit more separation on levels For example its hard for me to do the treble clef exercises with my younger kids because they might not know notes above treble G yet Id also like to see the ability to hook up a midi controller in the future You can already do so with garage band using the camera connection kit I definitely plan on using this app in my lessons from now on The kids enjoy it too because it breaks it up Highly recommended                 Great supplement
I was hoping the app would allow students to have their own user names so they could continue their progress with where they left off Other than that the app is very interactive and user friendly              Great for kids
Having the ability to unlock lessons without first playing through them is a great addition to version 22 I can now choose what topic I want to cover in class without first having to play through all the previous levels on every students device I do wish there was a way to stop students from moving on to the next lesson before getting a certain score As it is now if they get just one question right they can move on despite not yet understanding the material It would also be great if Teacher Mode could be expanded to unlock only specific lessons instead of being all or nothing                 Great Classroom Tool
Best music theory app for kids excellent format content instant positive feedback and directs toward helpaccess to review lesson when struggling The kids love it                 Kids love it excellent content
This is a great app I am excited to finally have a good theory app that my students can compete and earn rewards as they get higher scores I am making a laminated chart to use with dry erase markers for my studio where they can report their scores and see their peers scores for some friendly competition I will change from four stars to five if they will change their introductory theme song Its quite annoying LOL              Supplements My Piano Studio
The app is well constructed as far as music pedagogy and higher order thinking skills are concerned There are a few things to address before I as a music educator can give it 5 stars 1st some of the piano playing exercises arent working There are no sounds when you press the keys and the app does not think you are playing in tempo 2nd It needs the ability to speed up the metronome for higher level exercises 3rd It needs the ability to turn the subdivided beat Especially after the lesson addressing beat and pulse Fix those things and I give it 5 stars especially since I paid money for the app 4th It needs the ability to choose treble clef or bass clef only exercises Just as one of the lessons states not every one will have to play the piano So in order to streamline a lesson for a group of students playing treble clef instruments I would like to be able to focus only on treble clef note reading At least for the playing exercises that is That being said it still gives a good baseline for presenting elementary theory to young students and I still plan to use it with my beginning band students           Good Work
Im complete beginner learning the basics The app makes it very easy to soak up the knowledge                 Great App
This is one of he best apps I have ever found on iPad For some one with no idea of western music theory like me it was an eye opener Brilliant and magnificent Amlan                 Awesome
I really enjoy this app and use it with my piano students Its probably the closest to Music Ace as far as an app goes Covers quite a bit and very interactive The only negative is sometimes the instructions are a little confusing But other then that it is great and I would highly recommend it                 Love this app
The gamification is intrusive and makes fun of you for taking too long or for wrong answers The difficulty progresses too fast and then the owl makes sad noises at you over and over for struggling with it I couldnt get past the tutorials for the rhythm interface Rhythm cat treble cat and Musicopouslos are much better apps for learning theory     Really terrible
I use this app to supplement things I am teaching in piano lessons The kids love it and find it way more fun than a theory book I like that you can do the lessons in any order in teacher mode so I can use the lessons I want instead of having the children work through the whole thing                 Great supplement to music lessons
Audio issues and random kick outs of the app Too many bugs with this one Its great when it works but the bugs arent worth the money           Great when it works
This is a great training tool I have played guitar and bass in bands for 40 years but never studied music This app has made me finally take the time to learn to read music I am also learning why I play what I play I think this app can teach anyone from young child to an old guy like me music theory Defiantly worth the price Get it and enjoy Its fun                 Great app
Ive been waiting for such an app for so long Being a music theory instructor for years now this app has changed my life It made teaching so much easier for me but more importantly did it make music theory so much fun for the kids Now I have my lessons all in one place it is packaged in such a compelling way and has so many great exercises and quizzes All without missing pages and the need to dictate tons of information to the students All it took was this awesome app and all my students are now striving to know more about music theory Amazing                 Wow
Ok my voice teacher uses this app on her Ipad to teach me music theory its fun and your learning music at the same time Its really good for kids and the owl is HILARIOUS the way he flips when you get an answer right Its helpful the way it does the treble clef and base clef                 This is AWSOME
Many of the keyboards do not sound while testing The piano and drum exams would be more helpful if there was a button to practice first It is very difficult to sight read music on an extremely small keyboard and I was a piano major        Keyboards dont sound
This app has good content to help supplement music theory concepts for kids It sure meets the needs of kids who love to learn things via apps or through you tube videos                 Perfect music lessontest for kids
Good concept but as a true beginner this app is almost impossible to really do well Its entirely unrealistic to think a novice can assimilate notes and rhythm on a keyboard in real time to get the questions right Also there is a significant bug in the quiz for the lesson that teaches steps With a few changes this app could be great but right now its not worth the money        Needs some work
My 7 year old son loves playing with this app and doesnt even think about it being lessons and that he is learning For a student to work alone they should be a very good reader But with a teacher or parents help you could use it with a lessindependent reader Fun and smart              Fun for older kids
Very fun to learn Good for children and adults                 Very good
This is an amazing app Its great as a refresher on basic theory and a great learning app for new musicians Defiantly worth the cost and time                 Amazing app
I bought this app for my daughter hoping that it could hold her attention longer than your usual music theory lesson and it worked Before I knew it she was flying through lessons And as someone who hasnt practiced music theory in years this was a fun refresher course              Great App
Best app ever Ive learned so Much in the past few weeks                 Awesome
You have to go in the order they give you and you cant skip around to use just the lessons you or your student needs This is unnecessary and such a waste of time The timed feature on some of the quizzes is way too short By the time a child has read the question and figured out what to to time is up and it moves to the next question So discouraging Defeats the whole purpose The ticking sound in the quiz is annoying and distracting Makes it hard to think Not very practical        Cant choose the lesson
I would like to see more quizzes for piano There are plenty of quizzes for the drums but hardly any for piano Other than that this is a good app for learning and practicing I would love to see more music apps like this one I need all the help I could get Thank you           Please Update
Im running 421 and the app doesnt work     doesnt work on my itouch
Please make this app adult friendly as well Make an option to turn off all sounds and animations of this stupid owl it is really distracting especially when you try to concentrate during the quiz Place help button instead and make time to go to next question shorter Then it becomes a five star app           Ok app but children oriented annoying owl
My students love this app The clefs quiz is the best We have a running contest for the highest score              Love it
