There`s a bug in the Mac store version of MusicIO, so for the short term, use the version that will be available on the MusicIOapp.com web site. We`ll update, and get the Mac version back ...
I ve asked for help on this issue and one of the devs got snappy Sorry if I was a bother     Not working with Reason and having issue using it as a VST myst515
I have not been able to get the audio and midi to stay connected App and computer say connection is fine Tried to contact technical support multiple times never heard back Save your money do not purchase     Terrible tech support does not work as advertised rmendez54
Don t waste your time or money It s complete trash The midi routing doesn t work and the audio is full of clicks and pops Seriously one of the worst apps I had the misfortune of purchasing This company should not be in business     Complete trash 7Z7
I got this app to replace my hardware connection to my iPad Iconnect MIDI I got everything installed Mac properly but everytime I send MIDI notes from my DAW Ableton 9 the server app crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME I have put in two emails to tech support over the last 2 months only to be completely ignored I understand that they might be understaffed but at least some kind of acknowledgement would be nice Hoping they get their act together Such a bummer that I can t use this after I bought it         Was so excited to use this J. Scott G.
Though it does not work with Windows7 and they do not support the Windows version anymore they still advertise it as a Mac Pc app and they advise you in the fine print that they don t support it Obviously I m a P C user and I m not knocking this app It obviously works for Macs be fare don t market it as a Mac Pc app anymore unless you are gonna support it     Does not work for Windows7 Vitamin Beats
Description claims it works with most Windows DAWs Ableton 9 64 bit would not load the 64 bit dll nor would Samplitude not surprised on that one but used it for extra confirmation Searched forums and found an old post suggesting users with same problem contact support Went to contact page and was presented a message that as of June 1 2016 we can no longer provide technical assistance to customers Windows environments and that the developers have been overwhelmed by the effort required to support them Perhaps you should update the description prior to taking our money     Does not work in Ableton 9 Windows 7 64 bit sirsquishalot
This is an ideal way to connect the iPad to Logic and presumably elsewhere Logic s all I ve tried so far it s so sweet I can t drag myself away to experiment both for MIDI and audio from iPad apps and back out too I had a little trouble at first getting audio recording to work but got a swift reply from the developers that sorted everything out Logic IS weird as we all know but great once you know the workarounds For me MusicIO is an essential tool the thing that finally makes ios music stuff real                     Works wonderfully Dpcoffin
I am using this version of the plugin having upgrading from midi only version recently Now I can send midi AND AUDIO to and from my iPad easy peasy We even get FX loops Cool                     Works perfectly iOSmusicMAKER
I have been using this app with ableton since its release for audio midi It works better than my I connect midi 4 which was 300 Most of the negative reviews I am reading here are from people who either sound like they didn t understand what this app does or are trying wonky nonstandard configs If you are using ableton and know what you are doing you will not be disappointed                     Ignore bad reviews Music Io is great Anton Brecht
I spent roughly 8 hours trying to get Music IO to work with Ableton Live and my iPhone 6 plus to no avail I watched videos I read the manual I did a lot of stuff step by step as advised and I simply could not get Midi to flow from Ableton to my iPhone and audio back to Ableton That being said I purchased StudioMux and had midi flowing from Ableton to my iPhone and then returning audio back to Ableton and recording on a new track all in less than five minutes StudioMux just worked like a champ What more is there to say         Don t do it pagodadesign
App is great once you figure out how to use it There s not much in the way of documentation                 Great App So So Support KnowNaMe
Update Also you cannot send midi clips from Ableton to your ipad The reason for the problem is that the midi connection is made outside of Ableton in the Musicio program All the plugin does is route audio not midi It s sets up like a charm and you can minimalize audio clicks and clips though you won t get rid of them but my biggest problem is coming when using in Ableton As an Ableton Push user you are unable to utilize scales and also the iPad plays you iPad synths everytime you hit a pad on your Push whether you are in session mode or note mode Trust me Ive tried it all to fix it Hopefully an update will address those issues and I can change my rating Until then still keeping my iPad and all of its beautiful synths out of Ableton             Hopefully someday Zizardianly
Garageband won t let me select this as an input and thus won t record the audio from the installed plug in This was supposed to be easy It is not Looks like refund time since their site has no information regarding this and it seems it should since Garageband it the most downloaded daw on the iPad and is what those with a mac and iPad would use to record the audio Waste of time     Won t record into Garageband Axewielderx
This app has transformed and streamlined my workflow Absolutely cool that a single lightning cable and app can handle MIDI and audio to from iPad to my Mac Ableton Link integration w MIDI clock would be fantastic since that appears to be becoming more of a standard but I m very pleased with the results so far Keep up the good work                 Transformed my workflow swancakes
It s a cool useful app Thus the 5 star rating But I ve opted for a Fiio adapter and a splitter to daw interface line ins Real time no plugins needed Windows Of course that s just for audio                     Cool Fgyjgfdhccfv
I was so excited to buy this but it just crashes when I attempt to add I machine 2 That s all I use on my 6s Please refund if it doesn t work for me     Doesn t work with machine 2 Nickname six
The MusicIO VST dll causes Cubase 5 to hang during initialization so I can t use this app Will re rate and review once compatibility with Cubase 5 is fixed     Does not work with Cubase 5 yet GilesInDisguise
Only works with Inter App Audio applications I have a ton of apps on my iPad but only a handful have this capability so check your apps for compatibility before you buy this I m perfectly fine with the few that do work Alchemy Animoog and other for example Fairly easy to set things up                 It s good FisherMusicInc
This app is very cool bridging the gap between desktop and iOS Really REALLY awesome One cable ONE cable does it all Sound AND MIDI The future of music production just got a lot better                     This is so COOL breaktime
Before I used this app I had to use all kinds of crappy workarounds to get audio and MIDI to from my iPad MIDI over Wi Fi plus Audio using the built in audio output and forget about getting audio INTO my iPad so I could process it using my amp sims with Music IO that whole headache is GONE I just start the app on my computer start the app on my iPad and ZOOM I m off and running sending multiple tracks of audio both TO and FROM my iPad I get all those awesome synths and beatboxes like ANIMOOG and SUNRIZER and FUNKBOX that I love to use on my productions IN FULL PURE DIGITAL AUDIO PLUS AMP SIMS AND GUITAR FX Truly a dream come true for me and my music Thanks again                     Killer app Jjjjjjjjjjj1122334

I downloaded this app so that I could use a synthesizer on my iPad in recording tracks on my DAW on my laptop I didn t want to buy a midi controller if I didn t have to and it turns out I didn t It really was pretty simple but being new with the technology I had several questions Customer support was very responsive and supportive I think this app and the people behind it are great                     Works great Customer support is excellent Steve the Nice Guy
I was using iConnectivity iConnectMIDI2 hardware and software to accomplish what this does in software only for less than 10 plus it has more capabilities iConnectMIDI2 with its external power supply costs 120 and the hardware looks like a mess on my desk Music IO has no kludgy hardware it just uses my iPad Lightning connector to plug in directly to my iMac A very elegant solution to get iPad low latency softsynth audio into my DAW and to route USB MIDI from my keyboard controller to the iPad softsynths         I don t need iConnectMIDI2 anymore Born to Synthesize

This is quite the professional music app I use it with logic 10 10 1 and it works fantastically I haven t tried using it to play music from iOS to logic but it looks like it wouldn t be difficult to set up using soundflower I mainly use this app with soundprism and auxy I have never been a fan of the piano roll editor in logic and now I don t have to use it This app is fantastic if u don t want to buy a usb midi keyboard all u need is either your phone or iPad this app and one midi app and your good at a fraction of the cost If u are like me and put a lot of money into music apps and want a way to record them this is a very handy solution if audiobus isn t working for u                     Buy this if u plan on making serious music Dnb guy

He wrote any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic I ve seen a couple of things on computers that qualify Melodyne Audiobus Now this Using only the USB cable between iPad iPhone and computer it s possible to send a clean signal from iPad to desktop and use it in a DAW on the latter You can control an iPad synth with a USB keyboard connected to the computer Yup magic Congratulations to a brilliant meeting of minds that drew this invaluable app from the ether no doubt with plenty of elbow grease Like Audiobus it s a complete game changer for integrating the great synths of iPad into your desktop DAW workflow Don t hesitate if this is something that like me you needed six months ago                     Arthur C Clarke would love this Bobbo924
I was looking for some options for core midi routing and I was originally going to purchase midi bridge This popped up in the search and looked intriguing and thought it might offer a little more flexibility with my setup I wish I would have done a little more research before and purchased Midi Bridge instead This is a decent app and has potential but I was enticed by the idea that this might be able to replace the iConnectivity 2i2 and a Presonus iOne I had purchased earlier in the month My first mistake was to assume that it used CoreAudio which could be connected over network protocol similar to rtp midi This was my own lack of understanding of the features of the app Really the best thing this has going for the app is the fact that you can use the standard usb cable that comes with the iPad to connect the midi and audio Being able to charge the iPad while its doing midi and audio is a huge plus as well The biggest lack on the midi side is that it doesn t support multiple midi ports and routes I think it would have been better to have used connection to core midi that could be connected through audio midi setup on the mac I use the camera connection kit with the rest of my setup This means I cannot use my other equipment along side the this app all that easily If this app had more abilities internally to route and do audio it might have work arounds But I found it to be hugely limiting and lacking flexibility In my setup if the server and client had a way to also connect through TCP UDP i think i could have made it all work That would also allow for audio over lan which would be useful I don t know if it is capable of doing so however The next portion of gripe is in the audio transfer Congratulations to them in many ways for doing this since its one of a kind as i know but its not perfect yet Though I havnt seen anyone do it better yet It actually does better than the usb audio bridge that the iConnectivity 2i2 gives which I was also disappointed The iConnectivity has so much latency that it was completely unusable in my opinion Maybe for certain return tracks but I m talking somewhere around 15 30 milliseconds which is unacceptable Music IO has it right on that end where the latency can get done to rate where i felt was actually quite comfortable However no matter what buffer setting i selected in both the IOS app or the OS server there seems to be glitching It is a small and slight thing but it was consistent and unaffected by the buffer Im thinking this is something that could be worked on and fixed in future updates Its slight but just enough that i won t even try and use it in a real performance yet The audio quality of seems to be good as well But I m not convinced that it is transferred as linear as i had hoped Its a slight thing but in conclusion overall the app does not compare to the reliable sound latency and performance of straight dedicated hardware like the iConnectivity 2i2 and Presonus iOne Its a much cheaper option however and will do just fine in most simple configurations Worth the money if you are just getting started I could see future updates adding some real potential to the app But for me its an app that I might not ever use and was quite a chunk of change for an iPad app I think i would have been better off with Midi Bridge which is what i originally needed for the same price But now I m hesitant to purchase that as well             Has potential Loom Sun
Came faster than I was expecting                 Awesome update MacMotives
As of the cursed Yosemite and iOS 8 I can no longer get my iPad to connect wirelessly to my Mac via computer to computer connection for low latency MIDI networking This app really solved my problem by enabling me to get everything working again over the Lightning USB wired connection                     Extremely valuable works great ComicBook

For years it has been painfully obvious that you should be able to connect an iPad or iPhone to your laptop with the included 30 pin or Lightning cable and have Midi pass between the two Right Well these guys have finally done it and it works superbly right out of the box Use this app on your device together with the free server app for your Mac see their website or the Mac App Store fire them both up and once you get the green connected signal you re good to go On iOS I was able to use midiSequencer Xynthesizr and Auxy all running sequencing together and to play ChordPolyPad all on separate midi channels into Logic to play 4 different software instruments This on an iPad 2 for my first connection And audio is coming in a future update It really is that easy and should have been all along Right These guys are great and responsive devs too the makers of the elegant Midi Designer and Apollo series apps and the author of MidiBridge MidiBus and the MidiBus software library I ve bought just about everything these guys make and it all works great just like MusicIO Highest recommendation                     Superb Midi Connectivity Long overdue Erikbojerik

This review will be brief but must say that out the box of downloading this app I was already up and going within 5 minutes It took a little bit assigning midi locations as well as fiddling around in Reason Midi setup but was already to go with no problems Maybe a few Midi hiccups but nothing that a good ole fashion update cant take care of As of 22815 of this post I want to thank the 3 man band for coming together to give music app users an app that really does the trick and look forward to the Audio feature update Until then reserving that one star              Not bad for a start and works quite well
Update Seems the system audio needs to be set at 411 kHz for audio input to work Something I would not have thought about if not for the OP Thanks for the info Old post Audio input to my mac was the reason for buying this I hear audio but its a studdering mess Latency controls do nothing in the app the server or DAW I had it working before the latest update If I see a fix Ill definitely be rating this higher              MIDI Works but Not Audio

Good app Animoog app freezes updates on the vst got rid of most of the errors still waiting for an non beta update              Needs work on Windows users
I am very impressed with the technical support for this app The support technician contacted me right away via email and we worked through my stuttering issue step by step until we found the problem I was listening to the monitoring on the Mac on an audio interface set for 48 kHz but Music IOs native sampling rate is 441 kHz Once I changed the sampling rate on my monitoring to match the stuttering vanished I was left with crystal clear sound form iPad to Mac This is really a user configuration issue and not a problem with Music IO but the developers do have plans to program the app to negotiate such differences on behalf of the user They are working on this app tirelessly and I think we will see the little inconveniences like this clear up as the project matures So why did I only give it four stars The DAW I use on the Mac doesnt support either VST or Audio Units plugins Propellerhead Reason Using Soundflower to capture the audio and send it to Reason via an Aggregate Device configured in Audio MIDI Setup works flawlessly However only one of the four channels in Music IO can be recorded at a timeone can only record this way what is being monitored in Music IO and only one channel at a time can be monitored By the way I had stuttering there too as I had the Aggregate Device configured to mix 441 kHz and 48 kHz devicesSoundflower and my hardware interface I am not confident the developer intends to support those of us who dont use VSTAU with all the features enjoyed by those who do like multiple tracks I would have tested the VST in the open source app Audacity but it didnt show up there as either an available effect or generator If I figure out that I am doing something wrong I will update this review with my results              Stuttering Solution Also Doesnt Work Well with Reason
This app had all the potential to be great Unfortunately it does not work as advertised and trying to get customer support is impossible They do not even respond to emails let alone try to rectify anything I will be contacting Apple for a refund I hope in the future that a developer that takes pride in their products can make something that this one failed to deliver I would have had the patience to see if they improved it but when developers are so arrogant that they dont feel a need to offer customer support they lose my business Dont let the positive reviews fool you This thing is really buggy and doesnt operate as smoothly as advertised     Faulty product even worse customer support
Came faster than I was expecting              Awesome update
