MorseDecoder

After trying to get a bunch of other desktop apps to do this I finally resorted to searching the App store This app performed even better than I would have hoped Im thrilled                 Works Great

I first tried the software by sending on my WinKey keyer sort of simulating perfect code under perfect conditions Just having the iPhone near my speaker was enough to have MorseDecoder decode perfectly at speeds of 25 35 WPM Then I tried actual over the air CW by tuning in some QSOs on 20 meters and 40 meters 20 had lots of fading and interference and the performance suffered just like full feature PCbased software does On 40 with less QSB and less QRM the accuracy was very good it faithfully reproduced what the other guys were sending which points out how few people send high quality CW The software has a filter function that I turned on and off but that never seemed to have any impact All in all very impressive performance Makes the iPhone a very handy little Morse display           Performance just as good as PCbased Morse Readers fun to use

Very good app I have tried a few CW decoders in the past but this one works great I use my Ipod touch with my QRP rig Icom 703 and very portable Riley                 Nice app

I downloaded it and within seconds I had it decoding at 13wpm Excellent performance even with the iPhones microphone a foot or two from the speaker on my HF rig Keep up the good work 73 Matt                 App works really well

It works as well as the senders fist I have been operating CW since I got my novice license back in 1976 straight key then electronic wit an AEA Morsematic II and then with two Vibroplex bugs I ran the program then placed the microphone in front of the speaker of my Sony 2010 receiver and presto instant text even under considerable QRN and QSB Amazing I would recommend this app to anyone whos interested in a fun app something to demonstrate CW at field day to show that hams were texting before texting was cool and to perhaps use for entering text into your iPod effortlessly to send email and so on 72 de Rick WD5L                 Works Great

It works but you need a pretty good signal and a good sender with clean consistent code Fun to use and much better than my MFJ461 which mostly works not at all           Better than MFJ

I tried various settings and filters Was unable to translate Morse code into text        Did Not Work for Me

Works pretty good for a decoder I am surprised since I was going to purchase a MJF decoder for many times the cost of this product              Morse Code

Works like it says and able to tweek settings to decode mosrse code noise into text Great product                 MorseDecoder Rocks

After setting the filter and selecting an active signal peak I observed very good transcription of code just now during ARRLs 10 meter contest It has trouble with noise as does any similar product for example a 5 will occasionally be printed as an S I cant read 30 wpm CW but this app lets me see it easily Kudos HotPaw                 Excellent app does just what the publisher claims

Works on my iPad mini and my iPhone 3GS It took awhile to find an app that sent audio Morse code so I tried their Text2morse app Used my iPad to send while iPhone decoded and it worked like a charm I wanted to write a review on text2morse but I dont want to spend all day looking for it I just wantd to say I downloaded many apps that didnt work before I found it The only complaint is that it works only in protrait mode and it would be better if it played in landscae as well as Im using a bluetooth keyboard in landscape mode and it is akward to hold it in portait orientation                 It worked for me

I have been trying to get this program to decode I have used my keyer and it might pick up a letter here and there To bad I wasted eight bucks on this one     Bummer

Seems to require an excellent signal let alone a good CW operator sending the code Very touchy A lot of false decoding Not happy with it I dont use it any more Wish I would not have wasted the money     Not worth it

Can not get it to read a single letter except e Tried changing settings input level filtering speed No luck Maybe its just my phone           Cw not

I would like to see this work as it didnt decode for me Nice displays but nothing else If anyone has suggestions please get in touch K3GK     Nothing decoded

I use this for practicing my coding using the sound from an arduino keyer It has saved a few hams some painful listening experiences It also works well decoding from the radio the sweep displays do a nice job of showing background noise and the trigger points                 Exceeded expectations

Hears every signal as either e or t Wasted 5 buying this Deleting DO NOT BUY     Doesnt work

I should have flushed my money down the toilet Does not work at all I even hooked it up to an electronic computer controlled keyer thinking I may be a bit rusty No dice If you want to download this mail me ten dollars I will call you up on the phone and waste an hour of your time That way I make money and you get the same resultsnothing Should be a zero rating its not worthly of a one It is that worthless     Waste of money

After using the app and learning a few tweaks on the program Ive come to appreciate it I am learning my Morse code and have a paddle and a keyer and use the program to decode the Morse code that I send Compared with other programs that Ive tried this was the best              Update on my review

Initially I could only get sporadic letters when I sent code through my old iambic keyer After adjusting the weight it works great even though I am a bit rusty It works well receiving weak signals even with considerable noise After a 20 year break from HF Im preparing to jump back in mostly CW Good app 73 de KD6NB              Works well even with Weak Signal with QRN

I converse on CW morse frequently but am only skilled to about 13 words per minute This app decodes everything perfectly at all speeds on ham radio I dont know why some people have trouble I just got my first iphone4 yesterday never had an iPhone and got this app today Of Course the received code must be decent quality just as needed for human ears Totally worth 10 considering mfj decoders are about 100 and dont even work near as good Totally recommend                 Great product

I thought this might help with some faster cw It cant cop cq at any speed Save your ten bucks     Forget it

This app works and works well It works better than any PC based CW program that I have tried                 It really works

This app is hypersensitive to anything other than absolute perfect CW In other words if the CW is being produced by a computer it works well Anything produced by a human fist is barely legible Another problem is that the noise filter works poorly So anything coming off the airwaves even if computer generated is essentially gobbledygook This is the same problem with the MFJ code reader Both of these programs simply aint ready for prime time CW Ron DiGiovanni Eaton PA     Practically Useless

I also got Morse2Text For people used to tuning in difficult to hear intelligence on frequencies that have a high noise level this is a good app Use your tuning dial and any filtration you have to give the processing a good signal Tune it and it will type to you Be honest If you cant hear it no software can help you This is a good app for people learning and those who know how to use a tuning dial Far better an investment than limited hardware decoders                 For ham radio people

I dont need a code reader but so many hams run cw via keyboard I thought I would see how well it works Ive just had the app a day and have only tested it in actual QSOs which are never regular so I wasnt surprised to see a host of errors and misunderstood characters Ill give it a better test on the ARRL Code Practice sessions but if this is the way keyboards read code then it sure explains a lot of the LID activity we hear when working DX Ive always wondered why they keep calling on frequency when the DX says UP or keep sending their callsign when the DX is answering someone else           Wont open in my iPad with Retina display

I tested against a tutorial of morse code sound youtube video It missed some and used instead of the letters that it couldnt read I tried a faster one and it failed Not worth the money I paid           Great on slow codes

This app would be worth 299 as is tops The dev should add more function for 10 bucks Even simple things like text to morse would be helpful        Good app too expensive

Ive used this app to practice my straight key technique It has helped me get my timing right Also it works pretty well while listening to the radio I just set my iPad close to the speaker It works well                 Good App

Doesnt seem to decode very well I tried it on 20 Meters with several strong CW signals ranging from 5 to 15 wpm It mostly produced gibberish        Not Worth 10 Bucks

Fun little app seems to work well It would be interesting to be able to send and revive hotpaw basic programs with this Just a thought                 Nice
