I loved the concept I really did And I wanted to like the app itself but on a little iPhone I uninstalled it It just doesnt work for a screen this small The zooming was gimmicky and confusing as was patching the wires Amazing sound though Just needs some MAJOR interface changes Also you cant control much with how many things you have to buy in order to tweak them But keep it up        Awesome but needs some serious fixing
Ive found this to be the best modular synth app on the market Good sound quality straight forward design well worth the money Two requests Step sequencer Different colored patch cables                 Great app
This app really allows for a true modular synth experience That being said and although I have given it 5 stars this app would be flawless if it incorporated a much more intuitive way to move or delete modules and especially to allow users to color code cables and to put at least a dark theme within the app Overall though this is by far the best synthesis app to date and it really shows I hope the developers add features such as this I the updates to come                 Absolutely Great App
I WANT A REFUND     Refund
Great for countless hours of wet noodling happy accidents and spacetime perforation Use with headphones                 Most used app
This mod synth would be excellent on iPad but its just good on iPhoneiPod not because of the app but the size of the i mobiles its hard to set wires without zooming in but not a big deal sounds great and feels like your an musical engineer haha Im no expert AT ALL but I bet after you familiarize yourself with this POWERFULL app you would be very comfortable with a real modular system and for the guy that foolishly gave a 1 star rateing because he said the MIDI is not working properly my guess is the app outsmarted him Ive never tried it yet but everything worked perfectly so far as described in the extensive manual that came built in I love this thing try it out              Sweet
Not one decent tutorial In English And the lame six oscillator tutorial doesnt really do anything to motivate It simply goes too fast and doesnt start with any coherent method aimed at the first timer or even someone familiar with synths who couldnt afford decent modular gear Dont be such snobs make it easier to adapt tothat said this thing keeps challenging me and now Im getting amazing results The new modules Should be free for people who have supported and instrument such as this with the serious lack of Comprehensive tutorials Certainly the king of soft modulars on iOS I am starting to understand but I want more info please peace christo                 Really cool
Thanks for the new modules They sound great                 Super
This is by far the best synth app Ive used on my iphone I havent used it with midi yet but since the update I havent been able to put this app down Pay for extra stuff Seriously                 Fantastic app
This emulation app is an awesome intro to what its like to use real modular synths Sounds great tons of fun I would give four and a half stars if that were possible A few requests 1 It REALLY needs to allow different color cables within the same patch As it is with just one color it becomes impossible to follow your signal and control paths in complex patches 2 Connecting cables is glitchy you cant see the socket under your finger so it sometimes takes many tries 3 More modules Especially some type of sequencer or mathslike module beyond the basic arpeggiator It would be awesome if you could somehow open up development to third party modules Great job              So good but needs a bit more
A decent learning tool for a noob but if youre serious use a real system Swiping your finger around on a screen is nothing like holding a real patch cable in your hand and plugging it into a real module Real systems are totally within reach of the average musicians budget today Its called Eurorack This isnt 1970 where only Keith Emerson can afford a modular     Lame
This is the best GUI modular synth app hands down But here are some requests to make it freaking awesome 1 Step Sequencer option to switch out the keyboard for when wanted 2 Some clock generator divider and multiplier modules to trigger envelopes and LFOs ect 3 More than just 3 shelvesrows More space is never a bad thing Especially since the output module is permanently installed lower right side 4 Multiplecolored simultaneouslyused patch cables It gets hard to find your CV and Audio Signal paths after it gets crowded Perhaps stack cables Wishing big I know Occasionally when disconnecting cables there is a UI glitch and the cable becomes immobile and not connected to anything This happens usually when zoomed in Please update and keep new modules coming This tides me over until I can get a full actual modular system going and also when Im on the couch and in the mood to experiment with making sounds           Really great but needs a little improvement
LAGGING           Not bad but
Loved it up until v 105 which only crashes to desktop Ive written twice to support but no reply Really        V 105 crashes no support
Very complicated to look at it at first but the tutorials explain all of it Infinite flexibility                 High learning curve
Best synth app period Instantly sound great And real                 Great
This is my favorite of all the Modular synthesizers on iOS and even Windows and Mac The limited cabinet space demands ingenuity and the sound quality is ridiculously good Ive had it for a couple years and hear many complaints but with something as unassuming as Modular appears it requires a lot of processing power and some modules depending on how extensively they are used can be quite demanding Save your work If the thing starts acting wonkey be glad because the real world of Modular synthesis is wonkey and now you know what its like sweating over a patch By all means purchase the upgrade for all modules it really makes for some exciting patches                 Totally Brilliant Synth
Feels like an analog beast in the palm of your hands Sound quality is very good and layout is similar to old PAIA or Serge Modular synth modules Sounds as good or better than Arturias Analog Lab software and is even more true to the quirks of original hardware synths Great start But in order to truly earn the 5 star rating it needs updates to make it more user friendly given the small platform Moreover a true sequencer module is a must to take the app over the top If this product receives regular updates it will be a winner Right now this and Megellan are the best modular synth apps for IPhone to my ears                 Great Start
Im sure I can apply this to some of my modern synth work Its easy to play around and record to its internal microphone and I see it has links to Soundcloud A for Free app              Moog Memories
This is a lot of fun and a great way to learn about modular synthesis and patching but its not so much fun to spend 5 minutes trying to get a patch cable to plug in Its massively frustrating and needs to be fixed        Great idea needs work
But missing essential items I use a docking station and play from a synth probably like a lot of musician This is the only synth app out of 15 that tracks very poorly and the noteoff does not seem to work Needs a fix A solid guide is essential for a modular system Really needed Polyphony should be possible provided and is not in the realm of the impossible in this day and age and would and the next star to bring this up to a 5 star app And i would not mind paying for this last one Voice by voice if necessary Other than that i think this sounds great and the options due to the nature of modular synths It looks great too Wish it would fit the screen better but it is workable        Could be great
Hahaha sick                 The review
Versatile and sounds wonderful There should be an option to lock the keyboard in place when you go to zoom in on one of the modules I want to play a key while I am adjusting imagine that I would love to color code the patch cables It quickly gets hard to follow whats going on Cable snapping is a little tougher than it should be           UI needs work
This is a great modular synth Educational Great sounds Universal                 Awesome
This app is basically unusable do to the fact that 1 trying to patch cables is a joke because they hardly ever connect 2 the app jumps all over the screen like a methhead waiting for a fix I mean come on people have been complaining about these issues foreverplease get it together Im getting really sick of half arsed apps that go nowhere because a company is too busy counting profits and screwing customers        Fix App for Christs Sake
Amazing fun genius app Only problem Ive encountered so far is that moving and connecting wires              Wow
Modular is very fun especially sequencing it with a step sequencer including CC changes or playing it live from a better keyboard The modules in the bundle open its possibilities up a lot Connecting the wires can be just a little tricky because they are under the finger tip I wish I could stack cables like in a real modular The ability to add more rackscases would be fantastic then it wouldnt matter if you needed to use the mults and splitters To me it sounds like VCF11 and VCF12 begin to selfresonate at surprisingly low settings It would also be nice if modules could be saved into new default states so when you drag them from the tray YOUR version is used I almost always need VCA11 to come with initial level set to 0 and cv amount set to 100 frustrating having to set these so often              Fun but Frustrating
Superb                 Grandiose
Agree with Bucky on the ui It works but its not always easy Sounds great Oscillators are rich and decent filter selection A sequencer would be a huge addition A realtime oscilloscope would be cool too And some more patchability of modules now Its a solid app and I enjoy using it Interested to see how much further dev is willing to take it              Fun
The only other app I could compare this too was a korg synth app and this is way better being able to select certain components                 Fantastic
This is a great way to learn to program modular synths when you dont have a physical modular synth in front of you                 Highly Portable Skeuomorphic Modular Synth
I thought the keyboard was a little TOO fluid it moves around and stretches when you try to play Reccomend an external controller for live performance or maybe its own slide out panel like the right slide out for the modules              keyboard needs work
Works perfectly on my iPhone 5 but crash on my iPad mini 1st gen           Crash on iPad mini
To include the iPad as being optimized for is a ridiculous statement Its keyboard is totally useless as the keys on the iPad are impossibly small and if you enlarge them in landscape then there is only one octave and 34 of the modules are off screen In portrait you have less than an octave and you cant see any complete module Then the poor color scheme Pale colors and thin font increase eye strain Are there ANY developers that understand that concept This app is useless on an iPad     Rediculous design for iPad
I wasnt programing modular synths back in the 70s I just played them but because of that I know intimately how they sounded and I did copy some patch sheets and I knew others who programmed modular synths with style and finesse This takes me back to those days Unlike those days I dont get interrupted in the middle of writing a song to soldier loose connections on one of the studio synths If they ever put that into software then it will have become TOO real                 True to Form Fun
Title says it all Some sort of weird auto zoom and pan takes over such that the screen is mostly blank and all of the interesting bits are off the screen Either nobody tested this or the forgot to reveal the mystical incantations that control the app Complete waste of money on IPhone 5s     Impossible to Use on iPhone
This is just like reallife My only complaints are that wiring the modules is a little tricky and the UI is rather buggy In the future I would love to have my DAW on my computer control Modular then it send audio to my DAW           Pretty Good
I love this app It is sophisticated yet simple with a beautiful design and fairly simple to use controls The app does however need a little polishing First of all there is not enough cabinet space for modules Not sure whether this is an issue of bogging down the cpu or something else but an option to add or remove extra cabinet space would make this app so much better There should be an option to have multiple cable colors in the same patch to improve differentiation between cables A multiple module similar design to INV04 Signal Inverter would be a nice addition There should definitely be an edit mode for moving modules as opposed to the tapholddrag method To all those who read this review PLEASE BUY THE INAPP PURCHASES TO ENCOURAGE THE DEV TEAM TO CONTINUE IMPROVING THE APP Its a huge bargain when compared to the Arturia Modular V and I would love to see this app go further              Excellent Start Buy the inapp modules to support dev team
Pros Sounds good Modules are pretty well modeled and sound reasonable Can do complex feedback The CV controls are modeled at high enough sample rates to be useful Attractive looking display Modules will be very familiar to users of traditional 5U classic modulars like the MOTM Moog V etc which is a shame because Cons Terrible patching UX Hard to imagine how someone thought that this was usable The cable hit areas are perfect for the first plug and then inexplicable fail 9 out 10 times on the second plug Some plugs highlight but are unconnectable at times Worse yet you have to drag the cables No touch then touch This makes the experience of patching and unpatching tedious A major problem for a modular synth Free idea for the developer use the accelerometer to droop the cables so I can move them out of the way Dragging around patched modules causes the app to sporadically reroute the cables to previously configurations Buggy as hell Feels like the developer rushed the patching UX and spent all their time on the art I hope it gets fixed in a later version cause I bought the pro pack     Needs work
iPhone 5 Constantly dropping my patches if I leave the program opens back up with a blank rack Random bugs that cause the screen to get stuck in the wrong orientation Not happy that I spent 899 on buggy software     Bugs on iOS 802
I have been waiting and wishing for the two new vcos introduced to modular A variable wave shape analog with sync and an oscillator with a detuning spread I gave it only a quick test run before writing this and I can tell that I will continue to use this program daily Thank you                 Incredible update
You will never recoup the time and attention you give this abandonware fail crapp     Waste of Time Attention
Controls start going crazy after about 5 min use Cant zoom inout move around the view Im glad I didnt pay anything yet looking forward to buyin once bug is fixed Also patching cables is kinda hard even before it bugs out It needs to be easier to plug a jack in on iphones small screen Otherwise sounds and looks great        Has bugs
kudos for launching your product in any way you knew how would love to see this actually work one day     UI needs work
This synthesizer is awesome however it is difficult using the keyboard on the iPad mini              Keyboard too small
Ive been producing electronic music digitally for years and using this app I feel like im just starting to truely understand the art of sound synthesis With a tight budget its been virtually impossible to feel real control over the sculpting of original sounds with a synthesizer until now I believe if youre looking for a synth to actually learn how to build your own patches without a couple grand or programming knowledgethis app is for you                 As good as it gets
UPDATED Just like the title says This really is the best synthesizer app currently on the App Store IMO Not really for beginners but could be pretty useful in learning modular subtractive synthesis concepts Its very similar to Arturias Moog Modular V and the sound is nearly as good As others have mentioned there is room for improvement Connecting cables can be a pain and is a bit buggy Different color patch cables would also be helpful I like the idea of being able to stack patch cables but the mixer module usually solves that problem just fine till you run out of cabinet space Being able to addremove cabinet sections as needed would be nice One other thing Id really like to see in this app is a polyphony switch Being that its a virtual analogsoftware synth type thing polyphonic capability shouldnt be out of the question Plus the delay module definitely needs the ability to sync to tempo just like the LFO can I tried messing with the MIDI input of Modular using the output of the Little MIDI Machine app from Synthetic Bits and was somewhat disappointed It did work but It seems there is considerable latency Hopefully that will get sorted out Aside from that stuff I just wanna see more modules Especially a sequencer module This app definitely needs a native sequencer for sequencing simple note andor CV patterns Being able to select different skins for the modules either individually or as a whole would be a nice touch UPDATE I dont know if it was intended to work this way or not but Out of curiosity to see if it would in fact work I connected the output of the iPhone to a real hardware filter module and believe it or not it actually works Now I know what some of you are thinking Of course it works dummy Its an ordinary audio signal No thats not what I mean Read on First I whipped up a very simple patch in Modular using a single oscillator 1 VCA and an ADSR envelope I then used the splitter module to split the voltage control output of the envelope into two separate outputs I connected one of them to the voltage control of the software VCA and the other one was connected to the on screen left main audio out The VCA audio out was connected to the right side on screen main audio out Now using a cable that splits the 18 stereo out of the iPhone into 2 individual 14 cables I connected the right side the audio output from the VCA to the audio input of a Tellun TLN428 VCF module and the left side that carried the envelopes voltage control output was connected to one of the frequency modulation CV inputs on the Tellun filter After a couple of knob adjustments on the controls of the software modules and my hardware VCF I crossed my fingers and struck a key on the screen To my surprise it workedThe CV of the envelope was actually controlling the hardware filter I also did the same with one of the LFOs in Modular and had the same results It didnt seem to work perfectly and I had to do some tweaking it but I did work There possibly wasnt quite enough amplitude on the control signal to fully open the filter but I think I might be able to mess with it more for better results Again I dont know if the developer intended the app to be used in such a way but it pretty much blows my mind that you can actually use it in the same way you would use real hardware modules All that for less than 10 once youve unlocked all of the modules in the bundle You would be lucky to be able buy a single quality patch cable for that price All in all This app is incredible and in my opinion worth 10X what you pay to get all of the modules unlocked If youre into synths and especially modular synths but dont have the it takes to put a proper modular together What are you waiting for GET THIS APP              Best synth app available
I was so exited to use this app but it works terribly on both an iPhone 5s and iPad Mini Some cables just refuse to connect and the screen likes to jump around on its own not to mention some weird latency and other buggy behavior Id gladly pay for this if it worked well Hoping for fixes soon        Cool idea too many bugs
i just paid 6 bucks for all modules only to discover core midi is not working no internal or external tried to email and no response yet whats up with that so far the app is useless to me since i cant control it with anything sure its working in audiobus but that doesnt matter because the on screen keys are oractically useless and laggy notes stick i own rhythm studio and i have some fun using that so i expected this to be better than it really is ill have to stick with magellan and sunrizer for now also midi learn failed to function i use an akai mpk mini into a camera connector and have no problems with ANY app except this one fix this problem or give me a refund and i will fix this review     no midi waste of money
Very nice app all around It is a dream come true to have a modular synth without spending thousands There is a few glitches cords not connecting saves rearranging sounds and a few dropouts other than that I would give it a 45 Fix the bugs and it will be a solid 55 no doubt Thanks again for the wonderful and powerful app              Modular
