Mental Floss Magazine

Of all the mags I subscribe to this is the only one I always read covertocover                 JD

Previously this was a great way to enjoy a great magazine Now they have changed the interface of the app The change is horrible I am going to see if I can get a refund on my subscription     Horrible Changes

When it works this is one of my favorite translations of a print magazine to an iPad one keeping the original content but not necessarily in a strict pageturning way However now access to issues is cut off with no apparent means of logging back in as a print subscriber The new stacked interface is also a terrible idea     Used to be awesome

This is the absolute worst update of any app Not only did the update delete all my old issues there is no way to log in and get them back They did not respond to any emails Im on my second phone call with support and they can not help because they are not actually support for the digital version Usually Mental Floss has their act together but they dropped the ball big time on this Someone needs to look for a new job     Awful awful awful

I love the articles and layout I also appreciate being able to pinchenlarge text Pinching it small makes the screen go all weird though Thats my only complaint              So far so good

Three year print subscriber The only reason I downloaded this app was to be able to access digital versions of my print subscription while traveling That is not an option with this new update Aside from that this is a poor app I dont want stacked covers I want to be able to see all recent issues at once and pick one with one touch Im not sure how this app ever made it out of beta You did have a beta right Will wait for a better version in the next update or delete     Its a downgrade

I read a few articles then it took me to an ad for Boeing and would not let me escape Deleting     STUCK ON AN AD

One of the few I read cover to cover So happy to have discovered it on iTunes I ended up subscribing off the website as they run hardcopy subscriptions with 1 tshirt and iPad access specials and I just just give the hardcopy to friends who some have in turn subscribed                 Best magazine ever

I love the magazine Please make it available on the iPhone as well Id like to be able to read it on my iPhone Plus when Im on the go                 Love the magazine

First off this is a brilliantly written magazine The stories are well thought out and the writers approach each piece from an unexpected angle The IPad version was a little rocky at first I still read the paper version but now I dont even touch my paper subscription The iPad version has added features that just arent possible in the print Definitely worth checking out                 Great Magazine

Mental Floss is my favorite magazine and I love that its gone paperless Always so interesting and fun to read I learn something new every time I just wish they would make this app universal Id be able to read it much more easily that way via my phone on my morning train commute where I dont dare open my iPad Especially now that the new iPhones have larger screens it would be ideal Other than that the app works great no crashes or problems for me and would rate this so much higher if I could just read it on my phone The Week already does this and does it great Finally giving subscribers the option to read content via a web browser like the New Yorker would round this subscription out nicely     Needs an iPhone version

As a paying monthly subscriber I expect to be able to read the content Im paying for This is unacceptable for an app to crash on start up Im using an iPad Mini wretina running 802     Unusable

Starting with version 59 the good user interface was replaced with an unusable mess They added an emphasis on social networking to the detriment of basic issue management and reading I cant tell which issues are downloaded or which ones are currently partly read When it opens on a page I cant even tell which page of which issue it is The latest version 511 has not fixed the problems Ive enjoyed reading MentalFloss on the iPad but this interface is forcing me back to the paper copy     Great Magazine Lousy App

This app has crashed every time Ive tried to access I deleted and reload several times same problem Too bad as mag is pretty good Almost unbelievable that they would launch an app this bad     Good Mag Awful App

The delays in getting the new version of this app were followed by its inability to allow print subscribers to access their magazines Contacted support and they told me to access a nonexistent print subscriber option Replied to the email and got no response yet Needs an update ASAP     Dead on arrival for print subscribers support useless

Have 3yr print subscription With April update I can no longer access the digital version on the iPad app This needs to be fixed ASAP In addition to the access issue the new stacked covers view is horrible Who designed this update In todays age of rapid app development and realtime customer feedback these sorts of issues are inexcusable     Went from love to hate in one update

So not only cant you get anything new on this app but my old issues that were on here are now gone There is no response from customer service Save the time and forget this dud     Cant even access older issues

I have been a print subscriber of mentalfloss since 2010 and have used the iOS app since it first released I now live in New Zealand where physical copies are a fortune to send so I send my print copy to my sister in the US and use the digital copy here on my iPad I even asked mentalfloss last year if there was any way to purchase a digitalonly subscription and was told there is not so I bought a 3year print subscription with the expectation of using my iPad to access the content Lo and behold this lovely little update came around last week while I was in the middle of reading an issue and now I cannot access anything When I contacted the app publisher they said the ball is in mentalflosss court and that they only handle print subscriptions This is terrible customer service by mentalfloss I love the magazine but I refuse to purchase a second annual subscription when I was told less than a year ago that my 3year subscription would work just fine This is ridiculous and needs to be corrected     Simply Awful for Subscribers

I used to love using this app but this version is very confusing and lacking I have had a subscription for over five years and have never had a problem Now I cant even figure out where to sign in to access my subscription My only option is to purchase individual issuesthat I already paid for with my subscription I am very disappointed     Horrible

I have 12 different magazines on my iPad and have gotten rid of all my paper subscriptions with the exception of Mental Floss It fails to load the magazines and when it does it goes blank again and shows that it is not downloaded Dont waste your money     Stick with the paper version

Super excited to read Mental Floss on my iPad but I cant for the life of me get the app to work It keeps telling me to turn my ipad vertically but when I do nothing happens The screen is grey so I cannot read anything So frustrated     LOVE the magazinehate the app

As others have noted the latest version is missing the ability for print subscribers to access the digital version Using the inapp tech support button I reported the bug They replied saying to go to Subscription current subscribers Which doesnt exist Ive sent them a screenshot of the subscription screen and am waiting to hear back     Print subscriber option missing

The iPad is telling me that I purchased it but I didnt download it and there isnt any option given to do so So I just blew 599 on nothing I dont know how these reviews work but I wont hold my breath yet for anyone at mental floss to help me 1 star until I get my issue     Purchased dec 2013 issuewhere is it

Yes the folks at mental floss know how to serve up fascinating items and articles and have brought the goods to the tablet app as well Rarely is a magazine worth a read twice or more I read mental floss with my parents and my kids another rare treat on top of that the app edition is beautiful and fun Great job                 Great mag great app

I used to love this magazine and app I read it all the time Now you have to pay 599 for each magazine Im not doing thatI wish they would go back to the old format           Used to be good

I love the magazine I would give it a 5 star if only they would make the app so you can see better on the iPad mini It is difficult to read Please update so you can zoom in on articles           Great magazine but

After updating the app I no longer have access to my digital issues that were available for free along with my print subscription I cant find any way to re enter my subscription information and Im not paying for issues I could download a month ago     No longer an option

Publisher no longer offers digital version with subscription requires separate purchase If youve already downloaded the original app youre screwed as iTunes will keep refurbishing original app and not allow you either purchase thru them or totally remove original app You can remove app from your device but if you try to install new one to purchase digitally it reloads app you originally got and there is absolutely no way according to Apple and iTunes to remove any app permanently from your file once youve downloaded it Print prices are good but I thought most people prefer to save paper and resources by going digitally Not a consumer friendly publisher     Great mag lousy app

As much as I love this magazine as much I hate reading it The fonts are so small I am afraid that at some point I have to choose preserving my sight over reading it all together           So difficult to read

New app does not support print subscribers at all I suppose that they are under no obligation to do so but to change policy overnight without as much as an explanationcontacting customer service is a waste of time Like in most every other industry     It is just sad

With their latest update I can no longer view my subscription for electronic version even though that is the version I bought Refund     Dud

I recently purchased a print subscription to mental floss and was eager to access my first issue digitally as well only to find that Im now unable to Theres no way for print subscribers to log in Im very upset about this as being able to access the digital issues was a big reason I subscribed in the first place Very very disappointed     WAS great not anymore if youre a print subscriber

Too many magazines are moving to this very unfriendly interface Why dont they think about the customers that are converting to digital subscriptions due to loss of eyesight All theyre doing is making it harder and harder to read the content were paying for At some point theyll just start losing customers when the app becomes completely unusable     Unfriendly Interface for finding issues youve already downloaded

Love the magazine App has always worked before iOS 8 killed the app and now it crashes on launch almost every time I have had success deleting and reinstalling but then I have to redownload all my magazines Please update and fix the bug     Update killed the app

I dont know who was behind such a terrible update and why it was even released Had years of digital issues on my iPad from being a loyal print subscribernow nothing Get it together mental floss     Terrible Update

Interesting magazine but uncomfortable to read because the text is so small cant zoom in like other emags please fix so I can read you           Please make text scalable

I am yet another print customer who has lost all of my previously loaded magazines and have no access to my subscription online It was nice not having to bring my paper magazine to Drs appts restaurants the bathroomwherever Thanks for attempting to double dip your customers Mental Floss     Amazing magazine horrific app

This review is really for this specific version of the ap itself I have had an onoff subscription to this magazine which I love However the app itself is absolutely horrid now I dont know which issues I have downloaded and which I havent and I have to scroll individually month by month to look at older issues Why fix something that aint broke I subscribe to about 5 other magazines on my ipad and none of them have a browsing format like this With good reason too This is not user friendly At least give us the option to browse the way you have it but also a standard way where we can see multiple coversmonths at once     Horrible interface to browse issues

Stop forcing your apps icon to the top of my newsstand every time you update an issue This is not an iOS thing so dont make that claim You and two other magazines are the only ones out of the 20 I have on my iPad that rearrange my carefully ordered newsstand Oh wait I just deleted the app because I dont like companies that mess up my device     Stop moving your icon

I cant log in as a current subscriber What a waste of a update I have a print subscription even went through support no answers This a jacked up app     What a disaster

I cannot get the current issue to load The log in process is confusing and frustrating This could be so much better     Glitchy

Way to go mental floss reward your loyal following by changing the relationship by making us buy stuff twice both print and digital Just sad     Bait and switch

I am a print subscriber that uses this app when traveling I am now told that the app no longer supports print subscribers I feel suckered     What a rip off
