I am using this app as a synth for my guitar setup with a midi pickup It turns my guitar into a live instrument Keyboard players will be able use the app in the same manner I play through the app on an IPAD Air with a Camera connector kit usb I use a core midi interface built into my Digitech GNX4 or a MAudio USB Midisport Uno MIDI Interface to communicate with the app I plug the headphone Jack directly into my line in channel on my speakers GNX4 headphones or even a regular stereo system with a line in It is awesome to play You can create your own sounds from scratch or start with a preset from the sound bank One cool feature is the app ability to be an an effects processor for other music apps using AudioBus I can shut off midi in and the program will process the sounds from another music app to the speakers or through to another music app or IPAD DAW Other features include midi thru sequencer two channels effects and sooooo much more This purchase is no brainer for those experienced or just getting started in computer generated music                 Musician quality app that even beginners can enjoy

I tried this overpriced app for a few minutes and deleted it It seems more like someones science fair project than a musical device I decided to spend my time elsewhere     What a waste

It crashes every time I try using the Sonoma copy feature kinda lame hope they fix that           Crashes

I love this synth The dual synth engine is genius and opens up lots of possibilities The LFO routing is another really well thought out feature There are lots of these virtual analog synths Magellan is in my favorites Good modern synth The spawn function is pretty cool Surprisingly good sounds                 Unbelievably Great

I love this synth but kb2 should be more adjustable And this app really should be tabletop ready           Awesome

Excellent preset sounds with fairly priced in app purchase upgrades All of these are very customizable making the sonorous possibilities almost endless the spawn option is there if you dont feel like tinkering This app is also strong with other apps via inter app audio and audiobus I use it with Tabletop and Beatmaker all the time MIDI works great and using my keyboard as the input makes this app basically a full fledged synthesizer This app is as good as any I have of have seen and at half the price of one like Animoog Suggestions Make the scales even more customizable beyond well tempered harmony to include microtonal and non well tempered scales Please make the black and white keyboard have a customizable option for sliding expressivity for dynamics and sound parameters without need for the wheel or the awesome pad input Finally please include more visual sound customizing similar to what Animoog and iKaosilator do If you guys keep updating with more features instead of just more in app purchases Awesome as they may be this will be the best synth app in y opinion Thanks                 Top Notch App

This is first purchased music app for my new iPad and I love it Sounds awesome easy to figure out and I love the intelligent preset randomizer thing great results are so easy                 Love it

Without a doubt Magellan is one of the absolute best synthesizers available on iOS and I own and use most of them It sounds incredible and there are so many features packed into this app that even when I bought it at 15 I still thought it was a great value There is now way you will regret purchasing Magellan It really is a musthave                 Truly Fantastic

The keyboard options alone make this app stand out Split into vertical octaves have always wondered why other apps didnt have it finally found it in Magellan and the sounds engine is deep and varied Great customization and the spawn randomizer function is great One thing with the keyboard sometimes Im inclined to stagger those octaves in chromatic mode you know by fifth or something would be a comfy way for guitarists violinists to get all the notes Great app Easily my favorite synth on and off the iPad One serious problem i do have is the overwrite for presets I have that panel open a lot going from sound to sound tweaking one of my presets for a particular mix and sometimes I hit overwrite and it erases my original preset without confirming Very frustrating since as epic as this app is the nuances of that setting are gone for good unless I am extremely lucky and can manage to find the same settings Thats the only actual almostflaw with this appit never crashes works amazingly with sequencers and DAWs infinite possibilities                 Very impressed ONE PROBLEM NO OVERWRITE CONFIRM

Being a musician and looking for that perfect sound for your NEXT BIG hit can be somewhat time consuming The mass number of VSTs that came out since Stienburgs releases maker of Cubase has been overwhelming There are a handful of really good synths out there and even less on the iPad Magellan has to be one of the best synths on the iPad market The diversity that this brings to the table is amazing I like to make my OWN presets from the ground up getting that perfect sound to color a chorus I have the confidence to use the Magellan as the opening act putting the Magellan in the spotlight making the INTRO with presets that I made As a musician I play guitar live but in the studio I play Guitar Bass Drums Cello Violin and of course Synths This app has become a great asset when recording A must have easy to use fun to master You can create presets with a touch of a buttonBut the most IMPORTANT partIT SOUNDS AMAZING                 A must have for any musician

And they just keep making it better I spend way more time here than animoog                 Love it so much

What can I say this thing just rocks Huge sound random instrument generator Use it as an effects unit with other apps via Audiobus Dont miss out on this app                 WOW

Bottom line first this is a monster app with great fat sounds double engine and fantastic spawning ability There are many synths out there in the store and in the realm of the 3oscillator kind there are 3 apps that get my vote Magellan is one of them Magellan is a great synth and has two particular things that that the other two contenders Thor and Cassini lack Double synth engines and Spawn Magellan has this great ability to have two synth engines each one with its own oscillators filters effects and arps The closest comparo would be Thors multi osc synth and thats it Spawning it a great tool for when you are feeling adventurous or are in a hurry to create a new sound That is not even possible in the other two So if you want big fat sounds and ability to morph a sound with a press of a button then stop here and get this                 Tight Competition in the 3OSC Market

I rescind my previous review The last update seemed to make the app unplayable on iOS5 and iOS6 but after deleting and reinstalling the app works fine This is one of my favorite synths and I utilize it all the time Sorry for the previous review and thank the developers for a GREAT app                 It great

This synth app sounds great The sound is huge lots of useful and Fun bells and whistles This is a very deep app that will allow you to explore and incredible variety of sounds and recording and sequencing possibilities Need a snyth This one is well worth the price                 Awesome

This app showed promise but it has not been updated enough I deleted it Bye        gearhead

Unusable When it use to work I liked it so if they can get it running again Ill update stars it used to be one of the best     Just crashes after latest update wont start

Thank you for a great synth Many IOS synths are out there but almost just as many cant be taken seriously for one reason or another This is a real synth with great sounds and great control and features                 Beautiful

Yonacs Magellan has been a great synth since it was released and it keeps getting better with each update There are a lot of excellent iOS synths out there all of which are very usable musical instruments but this is one of the best all round This version contains the recent update for iOS 7 with interapp audio as well as individual MIDI out channels for the synths and many other improvements The patches sound great and you can buy more as IAPs and from 3rd parties its very configurable the various FX are easy to use and combine the scope display is a very nice feature for sound shaping and just having more than one synth engine is a seller in and of itself which allows two different patches controlled by two different keyboards in the app or using the ribbonlike controllers to combine in the aural space for a very rich sound Theres so much more that could be said too If you are at all aware of the power of analog synthesis you will be right at home with Magellan as a soft synth Highly recommended Great work Yonac Keep it up Very satisfied customer                 Wonderful iOS Synth

This is a fantastic app Great sounds and a lot of capability and detail built in The UI is somewhat complex but it enables one to have a lot of control over the sounds and how they are played Arpeggiator chords sequencer effects processing 6 oscillators ability to run as 2 separate synths full midi implementation in and out great presets patch randomizer big rich sound Ive probably left some things out but Yonac certainly didnt                 Excellent synth app

I have many synth apps and Magellan is still a goto app for me The controls are very deep but there are plenty of excellent presets to choose from Ive used Magellan in many of my songs but I also spend a lot of time simply playing and listening to the beautiful sounds it will produce This is a musthave synth for all tone addicts                 Still a GoTo app

Another great sounding synth that Uses sequencer technology that is so primitive I cant believe its apart of this app And after watching the demo of how to write a four part sequence I now realize that this should have had no sequencer at all VERY FRUSTRATING Cause the synth itself is great What a shamepeace christo        The sequencer is too primitive and gives poor results

This synth is one of the best in the App Store Great sounds customizable keyboards great effects step sequencer the works As an added bonus Magellan can be used in the Effects slot of Audiobus which is rare for iOS synths Plays nicely with MIDI sequencers Audiobus etc Highly recommended                 Powerful synth

Ive purchased most of the iPad synths out there but end up using a much smaller number This is one of them The presets sound fantastic right out of the box and beyond the presets it has a lot of power for sound design for recording and for performance You can even use it as a controller or arpeggiator for other synths Keeps getting better and better                 The whole package

Does anyone know if there is a pinch and zoom for piano keys on this thing I cant use this Piano keys are too small Its probably right there in my face Thank you        Enlarge piano keys

Thrashed by latest iOS update Will no run     Magellan

After this recent update the synth preset gets stuck every time Irregardless of whether I select another preset the sound remains the same Please fix this     Malfunctioning after update

Still A bit expensive compared to many other synths Found out it can be quite warm sounding as described yet is quite capable of getting bright and digital Presets are diverse and well categorized and through high quality speakers or professional phones this synth engine really shines Loud full sound with gobs of bass available for the tweaking Cheap ear buds just dont do it justice So taking it for what it is and how it does it the plethora of knobs switches sliders and dohickies along with several other screens with more of the same provide enough manipulative sonic mayhem to keep most any tweaker occupied for hours unending MIDI is among the fastest of all the synths out there even with the ambitious graphics Latency is nearly unnoticedwell done here The effects options are fantastic and go a very long way to take the synth engine over the top and into space However utilizing several at once overtaxes the CPU of iPad2 resulting with ugly digital distortion and cutting in and out of the sound with even modest playing Keeping it monophonic and backing off the delay feedback and dialing off the reverb a bit can help restore the full sound I have reworked several presets and am very pleased with the sounds The variety can range from ethereal sweeping pads to ultra aggressive bases and leads monstrous enough to make my hardware rig jealous Have only spend a few hours with this synth and have much much more to explore                 Okay I like it much better now

Incredibly varied sounds great easy to patch has great effects has MIDI learning and most of all can handle serious polyphony Out of the 20ish synth apps I have this is the only one that can handle huge chords which is a necessity if youre going to plug in a large MIDI keyboard You can play jazz on this thing Also the sounds you can out of this are amazing This is the only synth app that I can call professional                 The best synth in every way

Okay I am not the only one that is having problems with this not even wanting to open and shuts off and this actually started not long before the recent iOS 8 update and no have no other Apps running in backgroundplease update or at least perhaps update which iPads actually work best I run Waldorf Nave App and AniMoog with no problems on an iPad 2 and they are higher intensity resource needy Apps so PLEASE update thisfix bugs for this synthI want to enjoy my purchaseas it is now its not useable     iOS8 Upate Trashed Will Not OpenCrashes

In the crowded market of synth apps and coming from someone who has hundreds of dollars worth of music apps this one stands out for me as possibly the best synth overall Great sounds out of the box Good availability of sound banks to purchase both in and out of the app Great developer very active in forums listens to user requests and keeps the app always up to date Amazing spec list Note that you actually get TWO independent synth engines which can be played independently or in sync Plays very nice with other apps In iOS interapp connectivity is very important You get a very complete Midi implementation IAA and Audiobus Magellan also works great as an effect in Audiobus I would heartily recommend this synth along with Galileo which is possibly one of the best software organ emulators in any platform                 Possibly the best synth for the iPad

This synth is quite often my go to synthvery stable sounds killer logical read traditional layout Yonac has positively grown with this synth I love their direction of maturity as a synth app developer DO NOT I repeat DO NOT stop with the quality products and wellthought out revisions I along with others I am sure would gladly pay a premium for quality products from Yonacprovided they are commuted for the long haul                 Way To Go Yonac

Ive been using Magellan Sunrizer and Thor for a few weeks on my iPad and Magellan is the synth I keep going back to Its got a lot of great features but it doesnt seem overwhelming once you work through it I havent yet run into a standard synth sound I want to create that Magellan cant handle While I love Sunrizer and Thor if you have to buy just one I would recommend Magellan                 Top Synth App

This app has always been simply awesome I have most of the highest rated synths but right from the start this one just keeps getting better It has deep rich sounds 2 sound engines running together or separate and plenty of filters modulation envelopes everything you could want The manual covers it all this synth is pretty complex and it doesnt drop out or quit working just when you NEED it most Its easy to create your own presets and save them separately too A REAL 5 star synth                 2 absolute FAVORITE

wow i just bought this for 5 a bargain i instantly loved it downloaded tons of free presets online and i stalled via unzipping in audioshare the sounds are brilliantdeepcompletely usable and amazing i would give 10 stars if i could essential synth app for ios                 Amazing

This thing generates insane sound Buy it for the Spawn feature alone I have Magellan Jr on my iPhone and I spawn and tweak patches on it whenever I have free time Then I transfer to my iPad where I record with Beatmaker 2 and Cubasis Ive bought 90 of the synths in the App Store and have a large VSTiAU library on my computer and this is by far my favorite                 The best synth

You dont have this yet Easy to play simple to figure out the presets are awesome sounding with only a handful being nothing more than showing off what its capable of The rest are usuable in Music Some other synths out there while they in their own right are awesome have some gawd aweful presets that would only be good for a Sifi movie or sumtin Great                 Top Synth

Amazing update Magellan sounds incredible and is deep and feature rich enough to keep you interested for a long long time Yet despite the huge amount of parameters and complexity features like Spawn and a large preset bank and now an inapp purchase system to get even more make it simple enough for a novice to get results or a pro to get some instant inspiration This is a great well rounded product with a very complete feature set In my opinion suitable for any level of synthesist and will grow with you The 30 update adds tons of great stuff Loving all of the extra mod destinations and MIDI features Yet more icing on an already rich cake Quite simply one of the best synths on iOS Thanks Yonac                 Awesome update

I used to prefer Animoog then Thor then I was convinced that Nave could scratch almost every itch I had for an iOS synth Turns out Magellan scratches EVERY itch including those the others cant reach It has surprising depth and although the UI is complex the usability is top flight and the touch controls are like butter Inapp purchases are worth every penny too I especially recommend the Chiptunes pack just for the nostalgia Cant say enough about this amazing app But perhaps my favorite part is the pride of knowing it was made right down the road here in North Carolina Way to go Yonac                 The Debate is Over
