Love this game and Im excited to see it on iOS However the lack of iCloud saving support is a glaring omission Id also like to see a much better way to view hotspots Right now its way to easy to accidentally interact with something or move somewhere while trying to find places to click              Needs iCloud support and easier way to see hotspots
First to anybody stuck in the CHARLIE dialogue you do this SWIPE your touchscreen to the rightleft it gives you another set of phrases to choose from But aside from that I almost just tossed my ipad through the wall the movementcontrols are godawful and when she DOES walk its ridiculously slow like shes in slomo even though there is on the ipad a skip thing where u double click to run but why wouldnt these control instructions be IN The optionscontrols sectionI understand its an older game but the puzzles make no sense there are very few objectspeopleplaces to interact with as in to add depth and mood to the story like baldurs gateand the dialogue is really really long and the phrases seem really dated I guess its because it was from the 90s but remastered suggests more updatedmodern no Im looking for Cortez for the 3rd time and so far the only slightly interesting part of anything characters anything was the jukebox cutaway cut scene with that creature I could get past the outdated graphics if the girl was ACTUALLY CONTROLLABLE but its horribly glitchy jumpy or then really slow I dont think this version should be for ipad until its REALLY adapted for it     Frustrating
I love you ragnar your the best game maker of all time and space and this game has a epic feel to it I want to live in Arcadia                 Yay I got dreamfall chapters because of this
The finger and the loss of indicators of an object to explore reduces my enjoyment of this sweet game Im stuck in Chapter 5 trying to figure out to get the colored vial ingredients into the cauldron despite walkthroughs created for the PC IU I need specific details for the Remastered IPhone game Help              UI and Other Problems Fade Out a Star
I had been meaning to play this game after playing Dreamfall and it worked perfectly on the iPad I was a little worried about the UI after reading some of the bad reviews but it turns out that they just dont know how to play the game You can drag your finger along the screen to see what can be interacted with so you dont have to just tap everywhere The only control issue I had was once I got stuck by another character and was not able to move but I managed to get away after a minute or so The touch controls are perfect and I would recommend this to anybody that likes Point and Click Adventures andor wants to try the original before playing the new games                 Works great on iPad
Grim Fandango and Neverhood fans will be sorely disappointed Two games I enjoyed immensely in the past were The Neverhood Chronicles NHC and Grim Fandango GF The first was backed by Dreamworks Studios and the second by Lucas Arts That was over a decade ago and ever since Ive been looking for pointandclick adventure games as good as either of them After reading the reviews for The Longest Journey I decided to give it a shot and plonked down my cash and time to buy a copy I also gave it the benefit of the doubt and invested about 5 hours of game play into it In comparison it only took me 10 minutes to get thoroughly engrossed in GF and about 2 minutes to lose myself in NHC Im now in Chapter 2 of the game but I doubt Ill get much farther because Im most likely giving up at this point This game pales in comparison to either of the two games I cited above and if youre like me youll be wishing you could get back your hours of playing it Id much rather have replayed The Neverhood Chronicles or Grim Fandango a second time instead To be fair both NHC and GF were developed by major studios but the fact of the matter is that it shows in the quality of their final products They have strong hooks and memorable multidimensional characters You are drawn into the story early on and the dialogs or scenes are short witty pithy and entertaining They show that considerable work had gone into the production almost as good as a feature film in which anything less than excellent was edited out Even the graphics were amazing in these games OTOH I find TLJ to be severely wanting in all of these areas the dialog is highly stilted conversations are longwinded and boring what humor the author has tried to inject often looks contrived and unnatural On top of that the graphics are quite poor and the set pieces leave much to be desired by way of building a lasting impression Very amateurish I doubt if Ill find the time or commitment to plow through the rest of this tedious story But Im happy to be convinced otherwise Of course to be utterly fair Im not forgetting that both NHC and GF had big bucks and big names backing them Im sure George Lucas and Spielberg spared no effort or expense in ensuring the high quality of their deliverables a luxury that was probably not available to the authorsdevelopers of TLJ Therefore my review is not a reflection of the abilities and talents of the developers and authors of TLJ but only of the quality of the finished product which ultimately ought to compete on its own merit in an arena where products at least an order of magnitude better are available BTW I did go ahead and invest in the sequel to the Neverhood Chronicles Armikrog so Im looking forward to spending many happy hours of playing that game when it comes out on Sep 8 2015 I hope this review helps you in making your decision regarding where to spend your hard earned freetime Cheers        Grim Fandango and Neverhood Fans will be sorely disappointed
Ummmmthis should be called the longest and most boring journey Go play lostwinds or limbo     Why the hype
I wont review the actual game here since there are countless reviews of it on the web I would simply like to correct the misinformation of the user who claims they wrote a review that was not by someone paid to write it All the things he complains about he couldnt find are actually available from the settings in the game where it sends you to a site where it gives you all the tap controls including the extra dialogue flipping that he couldnt find at first which should have been obvious anyway at least to anyone with the IQ of a goat His complaint about having to click everything instead of mousing over is also wrong In fact unlike the PC version its now easier You simply have to tap and hold then move the finger across the entire screen while holding it on the screen This will show you all the areas where you can interact with and you will know what you need to look at without having to click individually on things around the screen This is without doubt one of the best adventure games ever made so at this price its a bargain Get it and enjoy it                 Excellent port
This is stupid I want a refund I spent 2 hours and am still stuck on the same spot        Ugg
I look at the featured games from Apple thinking they may have tried them This game is aweful Wth     It loads and thats it
Buy it and never look back This and Grim Fandango are the greatest Adventure games ever created at the end of the original age of adventure games in the 90s Next came a dark age which saw only the most dedicated struggling to keep the genre alive Now with tablets we are living in a new renaissance of not only Adventure games but interactive storytelling the Longest Journey was made with heart and love and even today you will be hard pressed to find much that surpasses it It will stand side by side with todays greatest Adventures Buy it now                 One of the greatest Adventure Games
I played this years if not decades ago on the PC Its a great port to iOS You get lost in a beautiful world no two Skip the dialogues if you are not into stories but the puzzles and the overall plot are amazing Very original If you are stuck there are walkthroughs on the web                 Awesome
How can people not like this this is so much fun                 Love it
The Longest Journey is one of the greatest games of all time but this remastered version is hardly that As a mobile port its sloppy and suffers from some terrible UI decisions The cursor is gone so its much more difficult to find objects you can interact with particularly since many smaller items will be obscured by your finger Dragging items in the inventory is quirky and unreliable and again the items no longer glow when you hover over an item or place that it can interact with This makes many puzzles infinitely more frustrating if you already know the solutions and potentially impossible if you dont Worse dialog options arent listed in a vertical scrollable list as youd expect instead if there are more than 3 options you have to swipe leftright to see more but there isnt any indicator or even animation that lets you know thats how it works Speaking of dialog it appears that a good chunk has been removed        Remastered Hardly
The game is interesting but I find the UI maddening It is hard to figure out where the exits are or what can be clicked on not a problem apparently in the original The dialog seems buggy for example I am trapped in the temple but foxmajiks review promises a way out April sometimes asks can I ask you more about is told yes and then has nothing to ask often the same dialog options come up over and over even after being asked and answered Motion is painfully slow by default Double clicking speeds it up some and sometimes teleports which is nice when it works but it seems unreliable I find it can be maddeningly difficult to accomplish anything with inventory items even if I know exactly what I want to do The rule is to click on the thing you want to act on but if you click in slightly the wrong place and there is no feedback then April moves instead usually well away from where you need her to be Ive played several point and click adventures that were better designed eg Lost City though none as ambitious           mediocre port of an interesting game
I get to the priest and then he says something and Im stuck Cannot move or talk Really disappointed for such a pricy game     Priest Bug
I used to play this over and over on the CDs I even owned the soundtrack So happy I can relive this journey on my iPhone I wont be sleeping this weekend Woo                 Best game ever
I was super excited to get this game Thinking it was a fun adventure game I bought it Right from the start the character was in her underwear That wasnt the real issue There was a highly inappropriate part that I found offensive that I cant repeat I realize theres a rating but I have games with that rating that arent bad I just wanted to warn anyone that gets bugged by that kind of stuff Thank you     Disappointed and Offended
I love adventure games Grew up on lucasarts Sierra and other similar games This is the king or queen or them all Still relevant today Just played it again for the 4th time on the iPhone Thank you funcom A must for the adventure gamer The pinnacle of them all                 Best adventure game ever Period
This is one of my favourite games of all time Its one of those games that makes you feel special for playing it The story is great I changed my rating to 5 stars After playing the first two chapter I really dont see anything wrong with the UI                 The greatest Journey
The longest journey is my all time favorite adventure game and this is a great port graphics are improved controls are good and no in app purchases or crashing runs flawlessly on my iPod touch 5th generation                 Best adventure game of all time
When they say longest journey they mean it Its like being trapped at a party with 100 of the most boring long winded people imaginable You literally DO almost nothing in this game except talk to people and every conversation has to be played in full and goes on forever I nearly cried with relief when the sailor story faded away to her falling asleep Im glad they put so much effort into the storyline I just wish they had tried to keep it moving a bit better           An honest review
Unlike many reviewers I have never played this game before so Im a clean slate regarding UI issues My comments go to modern iOS apps and the ubiquitous availability of iCloud I am frustrated that my progress is forced to stay with the device I play on If I pick up my iPhone after progressing on the iPad I have no ability to load the save from iCloud to be able to continue Although the story graphics and audio are sourced from a decade ago developers need to be mindful when bringing a classic back to life on a modern intuitive platform like iOS I docked one star for lack of iCloud support I docked an additional star for similar reasons as mentioned by veterans concerning dialog choices must swipe to access others I think it is very important to take advantage of iOS spend the time to create an app worthy of the platform versus attempting to shim a square peg in a round hole For the money I have no issues paying for the app provided the experience was to my expectations for a quality iOS app SquareEnix has done a very good job adapting its line of games to new platforms This app begs for the same treatment           So much potential but falls short
I read the reviews and expected a great game UI can be frustrating but my biggest gripe is the dialog I want to play a game not listen to poorly written one liners           Disappointed
I played this game back when it come out for PC it was massive and took 4 CDs to install The story is incredible and truly epic It does take hours to play and Im truly glad it has been remastered for iOS That said Im very disappointed in the lack of an updated UI To make this accessible to todays gamers myself included it wont work without a modern interface I love the game and the UI is incredibly frustrating Check out Republique or the Drawn games iOS ports for inspiration Radial menus and more intuitive ways to control the environment would be great Four starsfor now              Love the game though a tad disappointed
I played this game years ago on the PC and loved it and was excited to revisit it on iOS but a word of warning to iPhone 6 Plus owners The aspect ratio seems automatically stretched out to fit the longer screen and things look unnaturally and distractingly stretched as a result Hopefully the developer will release an update that corrects this           Wrong aspect ratio on iPhone 6 Plus
One of the best games I remember from when I was a kid                 Bought the second I saw it
Hard to figure out what to do Right now Im stuck looking at a bulletin board and cant seem to do anything or leave the bulletin board I am about to rage quit           Confusing controls
I was annoyed with and disliking this game even before I was stuck in a conversational loop with Charlie at the cafe Wasted the money I paid for this game Why doesnt Apple have a way to get you money back     Stuck in a loop
Fantastic game Could not be happier Amazing and intriguing story line Great adventure Highly recommended classic game now available on Apple devices I must play with my iPad upside down from the normal way I hold it This is the only app I have that does not rotate in landscape horizontal mode I have an iPad 4 running IOS7                 Great game Wonderful Adventure display doesnt rotate
I had such good memories playing this game when I was a kid The stories and characters stuck with me after 15 years If you loved adventures games growing up you will love The Longest Journey                 Fantastic
Its a great port Except that the game is stretched to fit the screen           Stretch screen
The only reason I didnt give it5 stars for the excellent story telling and very long and original game is because the controls need to be finessed quite a bit for the iPad and there are some glitches For example the pizza box in chapter 11 wont appear unless you give the map to the man in the garage first Also if there are two characters close to each other its possible to get stuck and youll have to restart from a previously saved game to get out of it Overall though definitely worth the money for such a good story and original gameplay Some of the puzzles are hard or not intuitive Ie Rubber ducks fishing out a key so youll probably need the help of an online game walk through when you get stuck                 Very good game bad controls some glitches
This is the best point and click adventure game I have ever played I grabbed it when it came to iOS the first chance I got Looks great on the iPhone6 Couple tips before you play Make sure your phone is not on silent mode if it is you will only hear music and no dialogue In the options menu you can turn on time skip which is handy for when April has to walk long distances Just be careful not to accidentally skip dialogue and cut scenes If youve never played this game its extremely dialogue heavy and starts out slow Get past the prologue and youve got some of the best voice acting coming your way Talk to everyone you can especially guards and you will be in for a treat If youre looking for an actionshooterfighter then look somewhere else If youre looking for an epic adventure that will make you feel like a heroic bada when youre done then pick this up                 Christmas Comes Early to Adventure Gamers
The remaster of the game looks great Audio quality was surprisingly nice too So far I am enjoying the story 3 hours in Glad there are still games I can play smoothly on my iPad 2                 Runs great on iPad 2
This is absolutely a must play game for anyone who enjoys a great storyThe world the characters and plot are very well thought out and well done Ive played this game many times on PC and so far the IOS port is my favorite way to play this now Simply put buy this Its a classic for a good reason                 Must Play
This game has some serious UI issues For one in the original game you could mouse over objects to see if they were interactive This translates poorly to the touchscreen interface The only way to know which objects you can interact with is to touch every object on the screen This gets old quickly After 2 chapters my fingertips were aching Also you are not told that you have to swipe left on dialogues to see more dialogue options I thought the game had a bug that was trapping me in dialogue sequences It took about an hour to figure out how to display the next set of dialogues so I could get past the temple scene You are also not told how to combine inventory items I had to figure that out too and it took a long time because getting an item to drop onto another one requires extremely precise placement And oh my god why do the characters deliver dialogue so Slowlyand that is not even getting into the incredibly flat plot and stereotypes throughput You can tell this game comes from the 90s because there is a lot of stereotypical banter that is not acceptable today Most of the adventure in this game comes from figuring out the user interface        And now a review from someone not paid to write one
I was really enjoying this game but Ive gotten trapped in this stupid subway key glitch and I cant get out of it I even replayed the game up to that point to see if I could fix it by putting objects together in a different order Didnt work So Im that poor sucker who cant get past level two because of a dumb glitch in the game Youd think the would have fixed it in the 11 years since it came up in the first release I will happily revise this review if the glitch is addressed I want to like this gameeverything else about it promises to be great     Stupid subway key glitch
1 star until the devs can fix this Infinite dialog loop speaking with Charlie No way to escape the dialog     Broken
I hate timed battling hurling bird kind of games I LOVE the old point and click games where you get to go wherever you want talk to whomever you want and find the story unraveling at your own pace There are only a few for iPad Mysterious Island Return to Mysterious Island and a few almost adventure games from BigFish that are mostly hidden object games I just began this one and I am already LOVING IT If you like to hurry and finish a gamebe on leaderboards as the first one to finishthis probably isnt the game for you But if you like a well done interactive story mystery adventure game where the scenery is beautiful and the voice acting is suburbthen get this game It truly tickles my sense of wonderment And NO I wasnt paid to write this nor am I affiliated with the developer                 WOW A beautiful slow being there exploration game
Expensive game for poor control over characters movement        Poor control
I wonder who this game is meant for Those of us that played it when it came out There was hardly anything better looking at the time so the graphics seemed passable Now the game looks awful even on a phone screen Is nostalgia supposed to be a factor Frankly I played this game when it came out and I remember nothing from it it does not stand out from other point and click games that have come out since It is very very slow by todays standards Graphics and forgettable story aside the ui has not been remastered at all The pc version allowed mouse overs to identify clickable objects this translates poorly into the touch screen interface     Poor port with no facelift
This game has excess amounts of unnecessary expletives              Enjoyable but be warned
This is such a great game and it plays fantastically well on the iPad A trip down memory lane for sure and it holds up really well for a fifteen year old game                 Amazing game Play it today
One of my favorite adventure games back in the day Graphics look a little dated today but art style is still solid UI could use some tweaks and I cant rotate view I like to play with the home button to the left so screen cover folds back on the top              Great adventure game
Controls on this game are awful Dont waste your money New Ipad and certain areas of the game require a pc to complete Not a good game for Ipad Other reviews are greatguessing they did not use a tablet     The long frustrating jurney
