This version wont connect to SSL IRC servers or at least none of the 3 Ive tried it with Hoping the next update fixes this as it would otherwise be a great IRC client        SSL connections broken
There is no list command meaning you cant list the channels on a server WTF also know responds when you write to customer service horrible service     List
Please fix the blowFiSH support keyx doesnt seem to kickoff a key exchange at all Setting a key for a chan doesnt seem to have any effect Please fix the blowfishencryption support        Blowfish still doesnt work
Entirely useless to me absolute waste of 2     No way to ignore self signed ssl certificates
The app work a fine except that the keyboard on 42 doesnt push up the input line meaning you have no idea what you are typing It really makes it very hard to communicate with I am sure it will be a simple fix but until then it is unusable        Broken in iOS 42
I have been a long time user of Linkinus on the Mac and on the iPad I have been using it on the mac since version 10 and have been using it on the iPad since its release This is the best and easiest client I have ever used on either platform and well worth the cost I look forward to using Linkinus for many more years to come keep up the good work                 Best IRC App All Around
I think the app is awsome while it does lack some features it is a 10 release as for the reviewers who couldnt join their network you are simply STUPID if you didnt think to use server then you shouldnt be on IRC at all if this was a 20 release and had that missing I would understand but it is very early and anyone familiar with Linkinus on mac will know how great an app this is                 People who use IRC are sometimes stupid
Works very well for me Updates are released very quickly and the team behind it is very nice Its a pleasure to use                 Great IRC Client
Been waiting to purchase this app after using the mac client for a few years now Unfortunately this app even with the update does not work as advertised I liken it to v1 of the mac client lots of issues unresolved v2 came out and just about everything was corrected and worked properly Hopefully v11 or v20 of the iPad app is out soon to address these issues I cannot connect to any SSL enabled irc server whatsoever Blowfish does not work either I attempt to set the channel key with the setkey command it issues a successful reply with the key However the dialog remains encrypted Issuing the key command at this point returns that there is no blowfish key found I also fail to see how a company that creates an IRC client fails to put their own IRC support server in the network connections list Having said all the above if you dont need SSL andor blowfish this client does work Unfortunately people DO need these features but they do not work When these things are addressed I will update my review to reflect the changes Customer support with linkinus always has been and will continue to be iffy at best Its a shame really as the mac client has evolved quite well and is a great mac IRC client too bad the same cant be said for the iPad app at this point     Unfortunately doesnt do what it says
Despite the update you cant edit the details of a server after it is created not the hostportssl anyway And it doesnt matter anyway since SSL support is garbage If its failing only on private selfsigned certs it should give the option to connect anyway otherwise its just failing and based on other reviews I suspect the latter The fonts are terrible and surprise no customization whatsoever There isnt even a general settings dialog for the app Avoid this if at all possible I know for sure that Colloquy is in development and near submission for iPad Just wait for it     Almost unusable
No channel browser No channel search No list command No ignore No notify A 15 year old terminal program has more features     Junk
Originally this app was sub par but with this update conceited software has gotten things right Thanks for the quick update There are still some minor things link the identify not working and no list but the major issues have been sorted              Was Worthless now fixed
Yeah I was all excited to get an iPad optimized IRC client 799 was a bit expensive but I spend a lot of time in my UStream IRC room and so it would be worth it to me Or so I thought Should have read the reviews This gets 1 star for a reason the most important and basic function of IRC is missing you cant connect to a server that isnt in the list Sure I may have a community of thousands on Ustream but too bad for me Not in the list not able to connect Simple as that This just had to be an oversight Maybe the server command would work Nope Maybe Im just an idiot and need to turn the iPad Nope Wait I know its in the app settings Nope Ok time to jump on the IRC support channel and ask how the heck I add a server No reply which is ironic for a company that makes an IRC client but to be fair you cant monitor a room 24x7 Next step is to email andor ask for a refund Im pretty sure this IRC client will be pretty powerful as soon as it you know works Next step email support     Missing the most basic IRC need
My server is in the list and by the time I purchased this app the instructions for a custom server were up However it is incredibly buggy For example I cannot permanently delete a server one it connects it will show up in the servers list every time you open the app even after you delete it from the list several times Also if you have anything in the text box and click a nick it crashes every time My bouncer is currently down so I have ended up using colloquy instead Its an iphone app instead of an iPad app but it is stable and functional        Buggy
I have been a fan of Linkinus since its days as a desktoplaptop only client for IRC Having made the recent transition from Windoze to OSX I had the fortune of leaving MIRC Nothing really caught my eye like the features list of Linkinus Colloquy was ok but lacking some higher end user features Irssi was plain and boring to look at Xchat dont get me started In the two years since i first paid to register my copy of Linkinus i have seen NOTHING but persistent and constant updates and improval to the client from its developer ConceitedSoftware Any time I have had a question or suggestion I have submitted a trouble ticket and a representative has gotten back to me VERY quickly This level of personal support from the developers is SORELY lacking from ANY other IRC client in existence I asked the company a long time ago why they didnt move into the Mobile Applications arena to which theyd replied were working on it well my patience has finally paid off Now on to review the app First as a Channel Admin and Server Op Linkinus has the best implementation of Oper commands of ANY mobile client AutoRejoin is a must especially if youre on a flaky 3g connection I cant begin to tell you how convenient this is It auto logs any highlighting of your nick or words you select ahead of time as highlights Authentication is smooth and fully functional Ive had apps in the past claim to autoauth you but failed every time The app looks great the UI is clean intuitive and easy on the eyes Simply put Linkinus is a joy to use and provides a wonderful IRC experience for noobs and vets alike Lastly if you use any other mobile IRC client the terrorists have already won                 BEST IRC CLIENT EVER HANDS DOWN
The lack of notification badges is a fairly major issue but this is the cleanest and bestlooking iOS client there is I tried them all not that there are many to pick from This app also handles backgrounding better than the othersexcept for that lack of notifications issue 3 stars to 5 once they implement this              Best irc for iOS but lacking notification badges
Its a decent start at a irc app but it needs some more options First off Id like to see a option to turn off the backlog feature Not everyone uses the same client all the time and it can be quite annoying           A decent start
The app is great Way better than all of the other IRC applications for the iPad cosmetically However I have yet to find a way to use performonconnect commands or NickServ The password field in identities isnt being used onconnect with NickServ Also there is no unread messages counter So if you start a pm with someone and switch back to the channel you wont be notified when they reply to your pm Hopefully these features will be implemented in a future version Even though it lacks some of these small things its still the best app Ive used for iPad to get on IRC              Great app
First you can add your own servers Its not painfully obvious but the standard IRC crowd should have figured it out Here is how 1 pick a server in the list and connect to it 2 once connected type server yournewserver 3 pull up the connected servers list and see your new server Edit the name channels save it 4 now this is a saved server that is remembered each time you launch the app The UI is decent I wish there was some indicator in the sidebar when activity occurred in a different room I joined but am not currently viewing Its unfortunate that no obvious method of adding a server has caused this nice client so many negative reviews A little more playing around and it would have been solved              Decent
Now that this application supports custom networks i can give it a review The ipad interface is great and is very familiar to users of other GUI irc applications It is fast and easy to use This supports multiple connections going at once which is nice for folks who chat on several networks at once Great work Looking forward to multitasking in fall when the ipad gets the upgrade                 Great irc software
I added a new server that needs a password and it doesnt connect nor can I even edit the password field to make sure I added it twice and it never uses the password I have been using the Mac version for a long time and I am not impressed What is with the server status icons They look terrible     Doesnt work
Linkinus fails so hard in 42 It doesnt work with multitasking instead it disconnects you AND the keyboard wont push the typing area up so you have no way of knowing what you are typing A mediocre irc app just became worthless and I wish I never purchased it lime chat still works brilliantly        Linkinus fails
all standard irc command supported is a lie list is not supported You have to know what channel name you want to join before joining it This most basic facet of IRC clients is simply not present Save your money     False advertising
The update fixed the nagging problems This app is great Totally deserving of 5 stars The devs are active too                 I liked it before I love it now
Cant even add a new network     Useless
Need to improve Not working as advertised in many ways        Not good enough
This app is very crude in its IRC capabilities and it is very difficult to figure out I could not set up a perform to identify myself to the NickServ for registered nicks it ended up leaving my nicks locked after I hand identified forcing me to have kill locks cleared And connecting in a setup window 1 star     Lacking and Difficult
Seems this app has no option to allow connecting to servers using a self signed certificate Needs an Allow Invalid Certificates option        Broken SSL
Just go buy Limechat Its universal and its more attractive and functions a million times better Everything you guys are upset over is there     Better I guess but still terrible
