Re-cycle your exercise bike and turn it into a powerful and fun fitness device. Just choose among the geolocated videos of Kinomap and ride Watch your bike moving on the map and on the elevation ...
Adding the ability for users to comment on the videos would help in selecting ones to workout to For example the 2012 Chicago Tri video has a serious issue with the elevation It jumps from 0 grade to 77 to 6 and such throughout the ride making an unrealistic ride using the Wahoo Kickr        Add comments
I havent yet bought app but when trying the sample 5 minutes it never let me do 5 minutes and the beginning of the wahoo kickr resistance was easy during the trial 20 seconds the resistance was incredibly hard and wasnt even able to shift the derailleur        Trial
Long story short not worth the 1199month I really really wanted to like Kinomap Trainer The usermaintained library of rides is a great resource and the integration of GPS and performance data for both the user and the ride author can transform what would normally be a headsdown grinditout workout into a fun little game especially given the multiplayer option Even cooler the app promises that it can display the videos on your AppleTV If everything else about the app was as good as the concept Id give it five stars There are however such fundamental flaws in the technical execution the general user experience and how customer support is managed that it warrants no more than 2 Heres the breakdown 5 stars for concept 2 stars for UX on mobile and website 2 stars for content 2 stars for technical execution 2 stars for support Not a lot of thought was given to the general UX If I open up a video and then decide to exit the only two options are save and exit and resume training Why is this a problem Given how difficult it is to find a good ride the search functionality is limited to type eg mountain bike road bike drive run etc with no options for distance duration etc as you browse the library youll rapidly find that your list of saved workouts becomes filled with items in which you have no interest For example while testing I managed only three real workouts yet my library lists over thirty all with durations of ten seconds or less Completely useless data The worst part There is no way to delete these Say you do manage to find a video that seems like it might have what you want The process of actually beginning the workout is rough and unpolished You select the video and it prompts you to begin with a big start button You hit it then it prompts you to select single player multiplayer or cancel This would be fine for the first use but it is a pointless distraction to be forced to select the type each time A good solution would be to provide the user with the ability to provide a default setting You set the type the dialog goes away and the video starts automatically Awesome Now lets say that it turns out its not the sort of ride you wanted again the search and filtering capabilities are surprisingly limited You press pause and the app presents you with two options save and quit and resume training Thats it There is no way to leave the workout without saving it Lets assume you managed to find a good video and have an actual workout The resulting analytics display amounts to little more than a list of text fields I understand that building a good charting system is difficult but the creators could easily have gotten around this by providing integration with other analytics tools like TrainingPeaks as the majority of other training apps do The fact that they failed to do either is a serious flaw in terms of the apps usefulness for training Speaking of integration the UX for the companion website kinomapcom is similarly weak Kinomap if you are going to build a library of communitycreated content make sure you pay attention to providing tools for searching and filtering beyond recently added most viewed best rated and spotlight whatever that is its not explained anywhere And while youre at it scrap the idea of displaying the results in a popup dialog Just use the whole page the extra real estate will provide room for info that will help users find the videoworkouttrack that is right for them Speaking of the content and the difficulty of finding quality stuff a good portion of the library consists of videos that are ten minutes or less Given the lack of an option to filter by duration or distance coupled with the small size of the popup display youll find that there is perhaps one real ride per page of the result set As for integration with AppleTV good luck After trying with multiple AppleTV units using both v4444 and v50 with both an iPhone 4 and iPad 1 both fully uptodate and on multiple networks I managed to get the video display to work once Had I known that after hitting save and exit I would never be able to get it to work again I would have left the thing running Sadly Kinomap support appeared eager to help with their initial response but soon dropped out of contact after responding with what amounted to Its not a problem with our product This would not be a dealbreaker for a free service but if I am paying 12mo for a product it is reasonable to expect more In sum I want to like KinoMap Trainer but there is just too much wrong with it to continue using it much less keep paying for the required subscription        A good but fundamentally flawed first release
Great concept bad execution The videos are pretty low quality and it does not work well It gives you a feeling that this app has been developed 10 years ago     Poor quality
Ive tried running this on both a brand new ipad air and an iPhone 5s and both exhibited the same issue chunky hesitating video that eventually stopped playing though the metrics continue to progress Streaming from a desktoplaptop seems more fluid note they are both wireless on the same network so the issue isnt my own network Also airplay implementation is just as bad tiny video area surrounded by tons of metrics But the video doesnt play well enough to use anyway Thank goodness I didnt pay for a subscription yet     Not impressed
