■ Third volume in the audio book series by the O-Project Gunkanjima evangelists known from the DVDs 『とっておきの軍艦島ガイド』 and 『軍艦島オデッセイ』 as well as the visual book 『軍艦島 全景』, and more.
■ We welcomed the 『1972 青春 軍艦島』 (published by Shinjuku Shobo) author and photographer Hiroshi Ohashi as a guest and looked back over the work of an unknown group (subcontractors) and unheard of memories of Gunkanjima along with the photos of Mr. Ohashi. In addition, the gallery includes a collection of photos taken by Mr. Ohashi of the ruins of Gunkanjima when he visited 37 years later.

Gunkanjima is the nickname of the Hashima Island coal mine off the southern tip of Nagasaki Prefecture which once prospered as a coal mining town. The island, which yielded top grade coal for about 100 years starting in the early Meiji period and provided fundamental support for Japan`s modernization, combined an affluent lifestyle that depended on the outside world for its entire lifeline with Japan`s first architectural and civil engineering technology, a premature city of the near future. In 1974 the mine was shut down, and the island suddenly became uninhabited. After passing many years since then as ruins, the island was been brought back in the current era as a time capsule containing the memories of its heyday.

The Gunkanjima evangelists of the O-Project are presenting the comprehensive audio book series Gunkanjima.

Approaching the island from every angle, including episodes unknown from basic the outline of Gunkanjima, as well as conversations with former islanders and people researching the island, we look into just what Gunkanjima is and what it leaves to the future.

■『1972 青春 軍艦島』(新宿書房刊)の著者で写真家の大橋弘氏をゲストに迎え、知られざる組（下請け）の仕事と軍艦島での破天荒な思い出を、氏の写真とともに振り返る。また、ギャラリーでは氏が37年後に訪れた時に撮影した廃墟軍艦島の姿を収録。

軍艦島とは：長崎県の南端の海上に浮かぶ、かつて炭鉱都市として栄えた端島炭鉱の通称。明治初期から約100年に渡って最高級の石炭を産出し、日本の近代化を根底から支えた島は、全てのライフラインを外部に頼った裕福な生活と、国内初の建築や土木技術が集結した、早すぎた近未来都市だった。
1974（昭和49）年に炭鉱は閉山し、島は一瞬にして無人島に。以来、廃墟として年月を積み重ねた島は、全盛期の記憶を封じ込めたタイムカプセルとして平成の世に甦った。
