JOutliner - Outliner

Ive tried other outliner apps but this one is the first thats worthy of use IMHO I had been holding out waiting for OmniGroup to do an app of their OmniOutline Mac only but Ive given up hope If you are an OmniOutline user you can export oo3 to opml then import opml into the JOutliner desktop then sync to iPhone The JOutliner desktop app is bare bones but the developer is adding features all the time                 Nice outliner

Great app Ive used it to replace personal informant and TODO I use it all of the time Its very easy to use and to move around points of an outline I do wish it had a program for windows that I could sync with but nonetheless its a great program ENJOY              Excellent

Pros moving rows is great love that I can edit items in place desktop app is sufficient and serves its purpose 25 they update regularly and each update has been great Now I can importexport opml Very key BEST OUTLINER so far Cons when editing rows or notes iPhone autocorrection doesnt work This is a MUST FIX 25 they fixed this a month ago Have tried Zeptoliner carbon fin and others The in place editing and desktop app have made this my 1                 Solid outliner

Ive tried all the outline app out here to date I feel this app oversold what it could do At first blush it looks great but 2 mins into it youll see the difficulty of a notsowell designed app To the dev Im sorry but buyer need to be aware The interface is clunky and cumbersome There is no undo per se You can undo the last function you performed but if you do anything else its lost There are not a lot of options with this app when it comes to formatting No numbering system And it forces you to constantly use either the keyboard or the buttons at the bottom of the screen It just feels like it was ported from another platform Im not saying it was but thats the feel of the thing Like it was designed for a different device of OS then reworked and jabbed into this format Its an ok app but really needs some thought and polish in order to be as useful as the dev makes it out to be        Not what its cracked up to be

I never write reviews but this app really deserves better ratings than its got to date To me its the best by far simple flexible quick to learn and use In fact Im amazed that the competition lags so far behind and Ive tried a LOT of them                 The best

Im an outliner freak Zeptoliner is simpler and faster I had high hopes for this one but it crashes often the importer doesnt work well and the ui feels clunky     Clumsy and slow

The most useful todo list for anything app of all I have tried The interface to move nodes is well thought and effective Very valuable for me is the synchronisation between device iphone and ipad and the hoisting It took me long time to understand and learn how to use the hoisting but now I find it incredebly efficient to manage large hierarchical lists on the small screen on the Iphone Agreeing with previous post weakness are lack of Undo and the use of buttons not optimized I confirm the good feedback about the support Thanks              The most useful

This is an updated review in response to the continual improvements being made to this app See my original review below under First 5 Star App If I could give this app TEN stars I would For organization there is quite simply none better I wonder now what I ever did without it And they just keep making it better and better with regular updates improvements and an obvious dedication to delivering an outstanding product Their customer service is firstclass and they are responsive and open to suggestions Thanks again Joe Just an outstanding app Period                 Just gets better and better

I just needed an expandable collapsible outline app that let me backup my files It was hard to find but this does that and more Backup files in OPML or txt to PC by mail and sync between iPad and iPhone Perfect Thank you I have to edit my review down to 4 stars The import function seems broken I copy txt but when I try to import it tells me there is no data on the pasteboard Bummer              Just what Ive been searching for

I love this app Very flexible can change font font color move stuff around easily add a note able to identify which ones has notes check box or bullets hoist I checked out other apps like this like zeptoliner and outliner and I find this to be most customizable My only wish is Im a PC user and I would like to be able to sync or export my outlines to my web browser or desktop using wifi without having to mail myself This is the reason why Im giving 4 stars Otherwise its a great app Really love it Devs please consider this request              Great

There are many things I like about JOutliner but in the end I probably wont use it because it lacks Undo and Cancel After trying it for a bit I realize that a serious app that stores data you care about should have Undo or Cancel or both so fat fingering doesnt clobber your data There were a couple signs of instability too Adding a note with just a single space caused half the scrollable list area to go all white Had to get out and back in to fix it The gesture for HoistUnhoist only works about half the time for me I do like the selectable text size and style and landscape mode There is a detailed users manual and demo video at the developers web site so you can see what you are buying I could see there was no Undo and Cancel but I could also see that JOutliner would let me use a text editor to very rapidly type a very long list with many levels of indent and then use JOutliner to convert it to OPML to import to other outliners So I bought it anyway With the addition of Undo andor Cancel and some other cleanups I think this could be a good app        No Undo

Save your money better apps out there Like another reviewer said its clunky the dev needs to fix how the interface works its not sensitive to the touch making it difficult to move items        Wanted to like it but

Much easier to type edit enter data I prefer free apps but the increased expense was well worth buying this app over the free apps I used Much better than the app on which I spent over 10                 Love new patch

For windows users there is no sync option So please add Dropbox support UPDATE version 150 Fantastic update Thanks for meeting all my needs UPDATE version 130 Thanks Sody systems for adding search improvements I would like to additionally mention that the support for this app is very good quick and useful I am excited and eagerly awaiting further improvements as shared by the developer over mail IMPROVEMENTS SOUGHT 1 EASE OF FORMATTING Formatting is a unique feature of this outliner It greatly enhances value But it is very difficult to use formatting in its current state 1st Reason It is tedious to add a row with a different format Finish typing inline Tap save Select the row again Tap the utility button Go through different sub menus Formatting should be allowed while inline typing without the gymnastics with all the buttons and menus 2nd Reason Consider a requirement of all level 1 rows in a particular format level 2 rows in another format and format of level 3 rows depending on the characteristics of the item With the current system it becomes necessary to manually format every single row level 2 onwards Make it simpler using styles concept as in MS Word allowing multiselect to change formatting 2 SEARCH IMPROVEMENTS Since formats are used to indicate characteristics there should be an ability to search based on the text format A search bar inside the outline itself in addition to universal search would be of help A filtered view of search results ie unmatched rows being hidden coupled with search as you type will make it easy though not essential Although this is my pick of all the outliners I found on the appstore with the above limitations it gets very annoying with growing lists I currently use lists with over 2000 rows not kidding Please incorporate the improvements at the earliest Thanks              Great Outliner Dropbox please

I think the app is good It is a little hard to figure out how to make a row a child row and I have difficulty getting the green arrows to show up when I want them to Maybe some practice with the app will help but a differentalternative method of performing that might be a good feature to add Overall the app works as advertised           Good app

Doesnt do cloud sync but its one of the few outliners that doesnt botch things up while syncing              Good App

In the new version I was looking at the new features and part of the screen went blank When came back 80 of this list were Lost Other list not affected This bug needs fix asap Also when adding new entry using the when pressing done when record empty the app adds empty record unlike previous version Needs fixing too     Lost data in new version 120
