Fantastic app A must have for the 3G iPhone Not as accurate as a dedicated GPS but well worth the price Ive been using this for paragliding and would request 2 enhancements faster data recording 1 second would be good and a moving time display                 Great app
Still a work in progress but the features it has now are quite handy Nice interface Quite accurate with a good gps signal Well worth the money Looking forward to new updates     Nice app Quite handy
I tested this out in an area where I would be under quite a bit of tree cover and it worked great I was running my ipod and the itrail at the same time and it about killed my battery but after 5 hours it tracked everything perfectly and exported to Google Maps which is cool to see              Works great for me so far
Blech I want a refund There should be a zero star option     Back to the drawing board
I am using v12 I have not downloaded 13 yet There are not too many bells and whistles although the seem to be on the way It tracked my runs nearly perfectly I have a garmin 301 and a garmin 205 and it showed my tracks on google earth exactly right down to street crossings The speed indication bumped around on the display but Im not really too concerned about my instantaneous speed readings and it all got sorted out in the end Perhaps the 5 second sampling will even things out perhaps some smart filtering rolling average or something could also help If the gps readings are going to bounce around a bit it is up to the software to deal with it blaming it on the hardware as some of the other gps software people have done is a bit of a cop out until youve tried to overcome it I havent tried integrating with Sport Tracks via gpx exportimport but if that works I will be a very happy runner indeed The KML export certainly worked well Looking forward to future updates but am very happy with the results              Works great in boring flat Phoenix
It seemed to give quite erratic data at first but the lastest version is working quite well for me I use it to plot out some of my bike rides and its pretty neat At the end I get a plot of my speed vs time an elevation profile with cumulative elevation gain and a map of where I went These can all be viewed right on the iPhone and also uploaded to Google Docs where you can import them into sites like Mapmyride Routeslip etc I would like to see a realtime percect grade while climbing or descending a hill A more customizable dashboard page for current data like the GPS Kit app would be nice too Only downside is decreased battery life I doubt it would last for an allday expedition Also using the iPhone for anything else stops the data collection Still theyve done a great job with the app and the regular updates Well worth the price                 Great App and getting better with each update
12 totally broke thisDOES NOT WORKmaybe this update will fix it developer has to do better if they want to charge for this     Simply Doesnt Work
I have tested the 2 apps on the same trail in Denver Here is what I found Total Distance iTrail was off by 07 Miles TR by 15 Miles Map feature iTrail and RK maped the route with about the same accuracy Features that I find better on iTrail are 1 You can lock the app so you dont accidentaly turn it off 2 Altitude graphing mode However chart is small and cannot be exported RK is working on altitude tracking 3 Ability to print route in Google map and Earth However requires several steps to export 4 Waypoints Would like to be able to save data on PC like RK feature Things I like about RunKeeper 1 Website to track your workouts with map However when printing map only waypoints print not route lines 2 Better cleaner app in my opinion Would like Possibility to edit workouts on website Altitude graphing Distance vs altitude or time Ability to print map with depicted route Lock screen feature Overall both apps have their pros and cons Both worked fairly well and delivered similar results              iTrail vs RunKeeper
Downloaded 11 and was frustrated V12 addresses most of these concerns nicely Someone suggested a link with a heart rate monitor bluetooth comes to mind which makes nice sense but I wonder about the ability to integrate with proprietary brandname monitors Generally folks comments without stating the version number are confusing and misleading              Nice version 12 update awaiting 13
Did a 10mi run with it this morning so I have a few observations and a couple of suggestions According to the instructions you must keep the iPhone on never lock not sure about other Apps but Pandora will continue in lock mode I was also using as an iPod so was a little concerned about battery life but it made through Well over all iTrail works Would like to see a timer it seems to only show the time the Trail name was created and not when you actually start For some reason the map shows from my house as the crow flies to where I stared running even though it wasnt running I did create the trail at my house At the start the altitude and speed had a couple of of spikes Also Im not sure if it could be done but an auto pause would be nice When you stop moving for so many seconds 5 maybe to pause and then auto resume when you start moving agin I had to stop for 6 red lights and a restroom break and would like to have that time netted out with an auto pause feature It could use a little polish and a few options features but for the first version and for only 3 its a must buy for any runner hiker biker and walker It actually should be rated 4 12 stars              Good App and a great price
The interface is simple yet concise The only feature the main screen is missing is a continuous pace measurement of minmile or minkm I especially like the feature of changing the frequentcy the gps takes coordinates A nice feature would be to set each waypoint interval for each activity ie 15 seconds for biking and 5 seconds for running Instead if having to change them each activity Overall highly reccomend and with updates continuing to be frequent it can only get better              I approve
I had to change my opinion after the update now the program works perfectly Great program great price Buy                 Revision Works quite well
Going to buy a farming handheld so I can mark the trails 4 wheeling     No cell service it wont work in the woods
The idea is great and its an app Ive been waiting for Unfortunately its chock full of bugs fails to track speed while walking it jumps between 0 and 24 MPH most of the time and only storesgraphs the first leg of the trip so if you stop it and restart it when changing your iTunes track for example youll have incomplete data The UI needs a ton of work too I hope to see it improve It has a lot of potential              Useful for the basics but buggy
So I have been waiting for this application for some time and reading others reviews I was sceptical But in the end this app does great Here are the pluses and minues Pluses easyclean interface map does track well and accurate only sometimes cutting corners shows distance vs speed and speed vs altitude Minuses cannot compare the same train when running it more than once cannot pause your runbike when stopping must keep iphone app running apples fault sometimes you must reset at the start of your run to make the distance start at 00miles sometimes the mph readings are buggy needs to say how long your runbike was at the end in a simple way Now it may seem like a lot of bugs but this app actually does do what it intends well and is worth buying With udates and bug fixes this could be a GREAT application A great 3 buy for any runner biker swimmer ect              Great but still needs updates
I used this application to track myself on a run It worked quite wellwas very accurate and matched other assessments I use to track my distance and speed Since its been out for only a day its difficult to assess its longtime usefulness There are plenty of features missing but we can expect the app to grow as new features are added This was obviously written by an experienced developer Its quite well put together In fact I believe this is the written by the same Justin Davis who wrote British Airways App and the copious use of British English in the documentation such as whilst seems to further point to that likelihood The Google Maps feature is greatit showed an accurate map of where Ive run sans a few zigzags I made across the road Also nice is that your map info is not uploaded to a cloud which I know Run Keeper another App set to come out soon will do Uploading to a server isnt necessarily a bad thing but this additional complexity adds developer time and therefore cost to the application I have only a couple of complaints Using iPod functionality is a little bit difficult ie skipping to the next track But the nice thing is that if you accidently close the app you can continue tracking yourself by quickly switching back and starting again Also adding a new trail is just a little unintuitive at first Itd be nice if the MyTrails and New Trails tabs could be combined somehow perhaps by using the in the upper right hand corner as other apps do              Closetoperfect tracking
I use it when walking and its measurements of route and distance are correct and consistent so doing the same walk twice gives the same readings Battery life seems reasonable I have logging set at 30 seconds I use about a halfcharge for an hours exercise Maybe those having accuracy issues are using their phone in a place that has good GPS coverage Where Im using it there is always a clear view of a large part of the sky and Im simply not having the issues that some others report                 Works very well
After reading reviews of this app and knowing what other apps are out there I decided to drop the 299 and I can say it is worth every penny I will recommend to everybody to spend 299 for this app                 Excellent App
This is a great little app It offers you the most important information and seems to be very accurate I took it cycling about 18 miles and it was surprisingly accurate it only cut of a couple of corners on the whole route It is nice to be able to look at the locations on the given trail afterwards and see how I slowed on a climb or how fast i was going on a particular decent although it was hard to nail down a given location It might be nice to be able to click on a location and have it jump to the map view indicating that location I would like to export this to the cloud because I would like to do more with it like add a trail to bikely for example I would like to see extreme outligers excluded from the graph perhaps show them but drop them from the line for example I had several instances where I got a reading of altitude 0 when I am at about 4500 feet And finally although I am a geek at heart with my Iphone mounted on my handlebars I dont really care about the longitde and latitued of a given point possibly allowing a customized display with something like average speed since you have distance and time or data from an external source like a plugin for my polar HR monitor would be really cool              Nice app there could be some minor improvements so it only gets 4 stars
Since I have at many times found software to be quite useful or at least servicable where others did not I decided to give this app a try I should have listened to the other commenters here This app is utterly useless in its present form Apart from the user interface which is beyond comprehension and visually horrendous it cant perform any of the functions for which it was designed It calculated a bike trip of about 8 miles as 375 miles and gave my average speed as 211 mph Apple please take this app down and give everyone who purchased it their money back     Very disappointing
I havent had any problems with it There are a few glitches though 1 It doesnt seem to find my location until I hit START Then it takes about 30 seconds for the GPS to track If you hit RESET then restart it it works just fine I dont think its location aware until you actually hit START but this gives you 30 seconds of useless data 2 Speeds are still erratic version 11 When Im running its typically 75 mph 8 minmile This will show me somewhere between 410 mph Im not doing intervals 3 It needs a stopwatch 4 There should be a way to fast forward through songs If you go out to the iPod this app stops collecting Justin provided a very quick and effective update between 10 and 11 Lets hope he keeps up the great support              Works well
Screen locking doesnt appear to work in 30        30 problems
Its not perfect For 299 Im not expecting perfection To be honest though most of the problems seem to be hardware not software related For some reason my driveway appears about a block away on my iPhones GPS and iTrail picks up the same error Hey Apple can we fix this After I get moving the data becomes much more accurate The tracking is within feet of my actual locations and the times are great I have stopped and restarted the app when I drop my son and his bike trailer at school and it picks up again just fine I also love the data export Its so cool to come home and plot this stuff on Google Earth I just updated to 12 and I cant wait to see the improvements              A wonderful tool
I like this app I just wish it were consistent I cycle roughly 10 miles every morning Since Ive used this app I have gotten readings varying from 13 miles all the way to 7 For the EXACT SAME ride I have tried it in the lock and unlock position Im just hoping the developer can iron out the kinks           WILDLY INNACURATE
I had Running Gypsy but it did not have the mapping capability that this product has The problem is that this does not run in the background unlike the Running Gypsy If you go to iPod for example to change music selection iTrail will restart and reset all of your running progress Im putting this app in the back burner I wish I can get a refund     Does not run in the background
This app does exactly what I had hoped it would do I cant wait to see all of my mountain bike rides on Google Earth My only request in a future update would be an elapsed time versus a start time Its apps and the hard work these developers put into them that justified my leaving my other carrier              Great app
I had high hopes for this app as did a few others it appears Its pretty much a waste of a few dollars As a quick test I did a drive to my lunch spot and tried to capture it Essentially it didnt work It jumps wildly 10mph at a time in either direction Even coasting at a constant speed It cut off capturing my route after about 60 seconds So I had to start a new one Neither route show the proper locations on google maps One cool feature is it will upload a KML file to your google docs account which you can import into Google Earth Too bad the routes are not properly captured Also a small note I couldnt get my google earth to import the native file even after downloading and removing the txt extension it makes I had to copy and paste the contents into a txt file then rename it for it to properly import into Google Earth Hopefully a new update will address these issues     BrutalWait for the next major revision
I like the overall functionality and hoping for continued development and improvements Not very accurate speed varies wildly in fact my speed graph peaks at 113 mph Other GPS programs on the iPhone must have a better smoothing or filtering algorethm For example Path Tracker is much more accurate so the problem is not with the iPhone as others have eluded to Another problem is the quirky interface The startstop buttons do not reflect the current status if you go to the location screen and return to the main screen Also does not resume correctly after interruption Looking forward to the next version           Good start but needs more work
The app is really nice The feature that really seperates it from the others is that it does total altitude This means if you climb a 300 foot hill 5 times you will have recorded 1500 feet of climb Very nice I hope in the next versions I will be able to email my trails directly or facebook it as you can in another application I havent figured out if I can change my wieght from KG to LBS but I can change my travel from KM to Mi Thanks for the good app Justin              Good App
Not ready for prime time in any way This program is also incompatible with changing songs while listening to music as it dumps you out of tracking mode There really needs to be an ability to test apps for free as this is pure Beta     Incorrect reporting of time distance altitude and speed
Nice idea for a program but If your phone rings iTrails cuts out If you receive mail iTrails cuts out If your iTunes needs a selection iTrails cuts out Often starts off with 26 miles or more making accuracy suspect Has tracked me walking at 11 mph I wish Given that this needs a iPhone G3 to work and a G3 receives phone calls emails and is an ipod this application is lacking and should not be charging AND should be refunding the monies it has collected     Not there yet
I really wanted this app to work I was so hopeful that bought it right away Please come out with updates soon What I would like to see is constant gps tracking instead of every ten seconds The automatic default iTrail option does not work very well No one really cares about the background picture either It seems like a few minor tweaks could make this an excellent application           Great ideas needs improvement
Seems accurate I walked with the phone in my pocket and it gave me good results As a feature suggestion I would like to be able to set weekly distance goals and get reports That would make it more useful as an exercise tracking tool This app is a good value for the price              V12 works well good for price
Walking out the front door netted me 04 miles Then 6 blocks added another 2 miles The altimeter showed a steadily decreasing elevation as I walked up a steep hill Wildly inaccurate is an understatement     Dont buy
I started using iTrail 13 and am very impressed The initial setup was confusing for 20 seconds but easy once I saw how it works I set the data interval to every 5 seconds and the recorded data for my 22 mile run was very accurate Exporting the data to Google DocsGoogle Maps wasnt as easy as it could have been but once I did export it correctly I was blown away It was nice to see my time distance speed and altitude on the iPhone in an easy to read format and on my computer too I can now save all my runs and all my run data on my phone Google Docs Google Maps and Google Earth I highly recommend this app                 Couldnt ask for more
This app does not work AT ALL You press start and before you move youve already gone 2 miles You reset and it seems like its pretty accurate but my last 5 mile run came in at 793mi I dont get itGPS running software has been around for years It cant be this inaccurate     Awful
I love this app For me it does exactly what it says it does I use it when I cycle and I love that it tracks my ride distance speed path It even stores the ride I have found it to be extremely accurate especially with the 11 updated There are a few things missing that would be nice including a stop watch and showing the distance when you restart a saved path Otherwise I would definitely recommend if you like to track your workouts              Excellent App Highly Recommend
I had big expectations possibly too big for this app Such a cool idea However Ive tried it on on long walks short walks and driving under 5 miles distance I simply get wildly inaccurate results every time The user interface is terribly confusing Even still by sheer trial and error youd think Id get it right at least once Not so Yes Ive turned off autolock Im not sure what the problem is because I see no technological reason this app wouldnt work I mean youve got a GPS Google Maps and the ability to store location information However Im using the app is apparently completely wrong because these elements are certainly not coming together in any way that I would expect One minor point to the developer Assuming its all my fault for not using the app correctly when you look at the summary for a completed Trail it would be nice to see the elapsed time it took to complete it not just the start time Frankly I dont care about the start time Anyway sorry for poor review If its my fault please post better instructions on your website on how to use the app Its a great idea However Id still like to have my 3 bucks back if you dont mind           Im sorry to report that it simply doesnt work
Easy to setup and start logging a GOS trail in minutes I downloaded it on the trail and was using it right away                 Good app
I found this app to work very well outdoors whether it was biking or running The first time out with version 10 I noticed another 2 miles were added onto the trip and that was in the beginning Reason I never let the GPS zero in on me outside before I started tracking After that day I got V 12I set the GPS to sample at 10 times per min went outside created a new trail after the speed and distance stabilized I hit reset and finally start After I finished my 28 mile bike ride itrail was 999 accurate Tried it again last week on a run and it recorded perfect again A couple of things I would like to see A GPS lock indicator would be nice or accuracy meter this way I know when I can start my trip with initial perfect accuracy I would also like to zoom in and out of the google map when Im completed with my trip An easier export function to the online version of Google My Maps Finally an app just like MAPS on the iPhone to show your live location on a map just incase youre lost and need to find which road ahead you need to take I am also not sure about these revisions apple is posting I just had a new update for iTrail today Aug 17th it was version 13 however I dont see any info on V 13 and the developer stated that there were going to be many features added with I do not see              good app for the value
Seems accurate enough to me I havent double checked elevations but time and distance jive well with the info from my bike computer I also like the desk top program which is free              Good program
This app worked quite nicely for me I tested it out driving and on a short hike Results were accurate The interface is somewhat clunky and not very intuitive which prevented me from giving it 5 stars but those issues can be improved in future updates Overall I think the devs did a nice job        Works quite well
This apps is worth at least 799 I would give it 5 stars because it costs only 299 the display speed is not accurate once in a while but I expect it would be fixed in a few updates I went hiking with it it worked great However on the down hill it stopped collecting data I dont know why bug 1 star deduction because of that here is my wish list email data instead of export to Google Doc the ability to zoom inout with Google Map function can pauseresume graph in horizontal and scalable see data better              It works
