No reason for this to be a subscription based app Save your money and use Navitime or Google Ridiculous evansvilleace
It does what I was looking for but paying a monthly or even yearly free is crazy when you can use the website for free I don t mind paying a one time fee but anything other than that is wasteful Save your money and use their website Also the user interface needs to be worked on Why pay monthly when you can use the website Greatwaveoffosaka
as title Bad GUI justlittleofurtime

You can get all the same information on the HyperDia web site so why would I want to pay a monthly fee to use the app Most other bus and train apps are free to use web site is free why isn t the app TigerMO53
I love this app Easy to Use Peetran
I had great success solo navigating the country when using Hyperdia in conjunction with Google Maps A necessity for touring Japan Laazyboy
I am currently traveling in Japan I tried to use Google maps and Apple maps at first but both maps didn t provide enough detailed alternatives for train rides I have been using this train app to look at all the different trains going from Osaka to Kyoto and vice versa I get to see and choose from super express Thunderbirds wide view Hida Shinkansen or new express train For JR pass holders it is a no brainier to ride a more comfortable and quicker train This invaluable train app has made my train ride decision so much easier as a foreigner in Japan 100 recommended Best useful train app for foreigners in Japan Eggroll Monster
This is a must have if you are traveling in Japan Simple and easy to use Put in station start destination and time and it spits out many different options and carriers Great app Awesome Go Pogo
Trial version works great On time schedules but it s not cheap 25 for the English version for a year still debating on buying it Great App but 25 99 USAF OG
I use Hyperdia for everything but I find it extravagant that this app has a MONTHLY fee A one time fee would make sense and I would buy the app no problem but I don t see any point to pay for it every month when the website is free and works just as well as the app 3 a month is by no means expensive but not necessary for this app The service gets 4 stars from me but the app gets 2 because there s no point is paying for the app when I can just use the webpage Great service but a monthly fee Tea1234567890
Used this while visiting from the US and traveling on my JR pass Was better than their website very handy for planning Google maps is great too for transit planning but this shows train options at various times very clearly Filters allow you to easily find options that you want Handy train schedules especially if using JR pass betaride922
This has got to be the best app available to use when trying to use the Japanese train system It s shows you the transfer times and you can even narrow your search to certain types of trains ie Shinkansen limited express or local train I used this for an entire year in Japan and it never let me down I could not travel without this Best Train App for English Speakers Souji5okita
This was a wonderful tool for me while I was traveling all through Japan I m still in the free trial mode and from what I ve seen so far it s a functional tool with accurate information and is rather easy to use Great tool for on the go travelers juliamats
Don t be put off by the cheapskate reviews The subscription price is a bargain to have instant access to very reliable routing through and across Japan s various rail services The voice input feature works quite well also A lifesaver ymatto
This Apps works fine and is very usefull to use in complement with Google Map VERY HANDY is you have a JR Pass Works fine Gabrielleaddy
For 25 99 a year you would think that this app would update its prices after the tax increase Great app but Sachan5
It says I haven t downloaded when I bought 1 month Knowing more track numbers and correct names would help a lot Good can t buy Chillnkill
I use this app often but when I open it it almost always shows up on half of my phone screen and the other half of the screen is white This occurs after I search for a route Can this be fixed This app is surprisingly 25 99 a year Half screen bug sashashasash
So easy and useful to find transportation info in Japan in real time A must have app when traveling to Japan nimin98

I want to be able to use this app in Thailand I want to be able to use this app in Thailand MummMimm
It says it is free app but is required to buy it a month later Haver better apps for free The only benefit of this one it is the English language But pay for it Why pay for it Forno do Zoldo
It s a good app to navigate throughout Japan but the subscription fee is just a bit more than I am willing to do I don t think transportation apps should be charged in my opinion Smart Navi is the one I prefer to stick with it s free and it gives me the basically the same info as this app So unless there is a positive change in fees I won t be downloading it again Good app however Sheree22
Hyperdia in general is helpful Although i would say is certainly NOT the best I ve seen better ones There are times when its best suggestions are less convenient than the real thing As for the app in particular buying a coupon after the free period 1st 30 days seems ridiculous I understand it s not really pricey but Why When it can be accessed for free via internet I just find it strange It works BUT StuCreaTorr
The app itself is amazingly convenient for on the go searching and had saved me a couple times as well While its a nice tool it s unfortunate that the same information is available for free through their website I think the 20 something dollar purchase is a little steep but it ends up worth it The biggest grip I have is that it automatically stops my music when I start it that in of itself drives me insane There s no sense in having that happen Overall a great great great utility but I believe that they need to lower the price a little get rid of the auto stop music and allow searching for stations with or without a in the station name Great But Needs a Few Things GroovieGhoul
App fails 7 times when I open it Does not work at all Does not work Azurefleur
I rode more than 15 trains over 2 weeks as I traveled through Japan This app was always accurate with both times and prices If you don t read Japanese and are planning to travel by train then this app is essential If the voice doesn t work for you no problem just type the name of the station in I can t believe this app isn t 5 stars thesugglife
I ll try to give this app a fair shake here The pros it fills a much needed role Having this app makes getting from any point in Japan to any other point pretty much a breeze if you know how best to employ it Take for instance it tells you your arrival and departure gates That s really helpful even if you already have tickets because finding the right gate in 6 minutes between trains can be a nightmare in a new terminal for even a native Japanese speaker I did that twice today thus this review It s also easy to use and hasn t been wrong yet I ve used it a LOT all over Tokyo to Osaka Kyoto Fukui Nagaizumi and around Shizuoka The cons the app is flaky Sometimes the app will reboot itself or just plain quit Other times if you have a poor internet connection nonsense HTML code will populate the fields making you wonder if your phone has lost its mind Second complaint it costs money Now let s be fair here Sure you can get the same information online for free but it s still from Hitachi Systems So it s not like they re ripping you off for nothing They did design the database system and are offering it for your use They could charge you for the internet use too So be fair Also while I don t like paying 25 and while most Apps with this kind of functionality are cheaper or free this seems like a sensible price Web servers aren t free and this one has to be updated with the correct timetables regularly So a subscription is the most sensible way for Hitachi Systems to upkeep their servers So I guess my biggest complaint is that I don t like paying a professional quality fee for a less than professional quality product If they cleaned up the App I d be rightly happy with it Now what I d like to see added currently this App and the website spits out the train line name But it doesn t tell you the line final destination That s unfortunate because when you purchase shinkansen tickets at the automatic counter you have to pick the trains based on destination THAT would be a LOT easier if the database listed the destination It works Davie williams
It says I havent downloaded when I bought 1 month Knowing more track numbers and correct names would help a lot Good cant buy
I might have paid for the App but subscription does not work for me Mr
App fails 7 times when I open it Does not work at all Does not work
In terms of timetables for Japanese rails just download Jorudan Its in Japanese but even someone with no skill at the language can figure out how to work it in 5 minutes I wanted Hyperdia because it offers a range of several train times at a search but thats the only leg up it has Jorudan is labeled as free IS free and will get you where youre going This app needs to be relabeled as a trial Disappointing Deception
Doesnt work with V7 Stopped Working
Dont know why anyone would pay for a search by voice function Seriously are people really going to use that instead of just typing in where you want to go and being done with it And if youve go an iPhone you can use the web version for free So again whats the point Expensive
The app itself is amazingly convenient for on the go searching and had saved me a couple times as well While its a nice tool its unfortunate that the same information is available for free through their website I think the 20 something dollar purchase is a little steep but it ends up worth it The biggest grip I have is that it automatically stops my music when I start it that in of itself drives me insane Theres no sense in having that happen Overall a great great great utility but I believe that they need to lower the price a little get rid of the auto stop music and allow searching for stations with or without a in the station name Great But Needs a Few Things
Ive had no trouble with this app In fact it has been a lifesaver on my trips to Japan I wouldnt be without it Well worth the monthly fee Great app

Update Did what it was supposed to do before iOS 5 Updating because it did work well At least before now Im an iOS developer This app is incompatible with iOS 5 it crashes right after boot up They need to fix this ASAP before its released this fall or A LOT of people are going to be very unhappy iOS 5 Incompatible
This Apps works fine and is very usefull to use in complement with Google Map VERY HANDY is you have a JR Pass Works fine
If you have the iPhone3Gwifi just use the online site and dont pay for something you can get for free They need an app that mimics the websiteespecially for offline use What in the Japan are they thinking Dont Bother
I ended up buying this app for a month because the free trial was great but since Ive bought it Ive tried searching many directions and it wont load Quit working
If youre running iOS 7 this app will crash every time you try to launch it broken in iOS 7
Trial App Bait and Switch
I somehow missed the monthly pay part after the trial but it doesnt matter there are free sites out there like jourdan that can get you where you want to go free Not worth paying monthly
Used this while visiting from the US and traveling on my JR pass Was better than their website very handy for planning Google maps is great too for transit planning but this shows train options at various times very clearly Filters allow you to easily find options that you want Handy train schedules especially if using JR pass

free is not free when you have no choice but to pay to use the app There are other sites like Jorudan that happily offer directions for free The voice function doesnt work well and you often end up having to type in the stations anyway Save your money SCAM
Its a good app to navigate throughout Japan but the subscription fee is just a bit more than I am willing to do I dont think transportation apps should be charged in my opinion Smart Navi is the one I prefer to stick with its free and it gives me the basically the same info as this app So unless there is a positive change in fees I wont be downloading it again Good app however
this app used to be the most useful way to get around japan but suddenly when iOS 5 came out it stopped working the web version still is fantastic but the developers need to fix the bug that causes it not to launch in iOS5 so 5 stars for what it used to be and its potential to be that again but 0 stars for what it is now with iOS5 used to work but now doesn
Worth every cent especially with the history added into it I use this app daily and find it easy to use and even nicer since they updated their tables with the blackout schedule Very nice Awesome
Didnt bother to try the voice recognition but the app is great anyways Used it much more than the app I paid for during our recent trip and it never failed Had to adjust schedules a few times and it always provided great alternatives and spot on timetables Five stars Great app for visitors too
Its too expensive you dont even need the talking function Why so expensive after trial
For 2599 a year you would think that this app would update its prices after the tax increase Great app but
This is a trial app and it doesnt sayYou have to pay subscriptions 1 month three months one year etc WHY I never use the voice search so can do exactly the same by going online and checking the website I would happily pay a one time fee for the app but the subscription fees are way too high Could easily be a five star app if it wasnt trying to con you I like the features but
Always gets me from point A to point B Works great
Dont be put off by the cheapskate reviews The subscription price is a bargain to have instant access to very reliable routing through and across Japans various rail services The voice input feature works quite well also A lifesaver
This was a wonderful tool for me while I was traveling all through Japan Im still in the freetrial mode and from what Ive seen so far its a functional tool with accurate information and is rather easy to use Great tool for onthego travelers
Subscription of 25 a year for something you can get for free on the website Fail Trial App 30 Days
The app wont update The website is still great but this app has crashed Voice
Not a free app at all Its free to use I on Safari which is easy enough to use at no charge I am more than happy to use the Japanese apps that are faster If you live in Japan and know a hand full of Kanji then I recommend Joudan its free Complete BS
I purchased this app and used it for a year Now I am trying to renew my subscription but it is impossible Not able to renew
Incompatible with iOS 5 Fine before ios5
So easy and useful to find transportation info in Japan in real time A must have app when traveling to Japan
I have been using this App for 25 days and it has been a life saver kinda I got stuck in Tokyo because my flight was delayed over night but I didnt want to wait to get back to my family down south so I took the train system This App worked like a champ I thought I would miss a leg or be confused but I was able to make it from transfer stop to transfer start with no trouble I dont use the voice feature so I cant comment on it The one thing I wish would be changed is for it to use the iPhones map when mapping a station I love this App and will be buying the year plan Oh well I guess I buy its well worth it
Who in their right mind would make a speech sensitive app which will be normally used in a noisy area Waste of space Doesnt even work well in a quiet room Dont bother with it Noisy subs
App does not work currently for iOS7 please use the website until the app is fixed App worked on iOS61 Hold off
Great app Love it
I rode more than 15 trains over 2 weeks as I traveled through Japan This app was always accurate with both times and prices If you dont read Japanese and are planning to travel by train then this app is essential If the voice doesnt work for you no problem just type the name of the station in I cant believe this app isnt 5 stars
A must have to travel japan Fast search Seems to crash a bit on ipad with system 50 Had no issues before upgrading Works nice
I need it for Japan and it will not work on my iPhone 5 Does not Work
I want to be able to use this app in Thailand I want to be able to use this app in Thailand
Hyperdia in general is helpful Although i would say is certainly NOT the best Ive seen better ones There are times when its best suggestions are less convenient than the real thing As for the app in particular buying a coupon after the free period 1st 30 days seems ridiculous I understand its not really pricey but Why When it can be accessed for free via internet I just find it strange It worksBUT
I bought the 1 month English Japanese but it charged me and didnt work Says not yet downloaded Purchase did not work
The point of the app is the opportunity for convenience and an improved interface but does not matter how good this app is charging for what is free if I use Safari is asinine Your going to have to more clever on how to monetize your services I will delete the app once the free 30 days is up Subscription means 1 star
I would even pay a 58 one time fee for a normal voicefree option on my iPod 26year wont kill me but it seems like an awfully steep price for a voice feature I never used nor have interest in I guess I will just use the browser Hyperdia itself is a mustuse for anyone navigating Japan Subscription fee is unjustified
It says it is free app but is required to buy it a month later Haver better apps for free The only benefit of this one it is the English language But pay for it Why pay for it
