A nice start but when Im done with an issue I cant delete it unless I delete the whole app then re download the app sign in etc Please fix           A good start
This is by far the worst magazine app Ive used Navigation is poorly placed you can only do it by opening an issue You CANNOT delete issues yourself You have to wait for the app to sense that your iPad is running low on space Customer service is a jokethey acted like giving me digital access to the current issue was a gift when I have a subscription paid up through the end of the year Very poorly designed app Apple should pull this from the store until its fixed     Worst magazine app
Great updatefixes a lot of the small flaws from 10                 Excellent
I was a print subscriber for five years and wanted to cut down on how much paper I used so let me subscription lapse and then subscribed on the app because it said it has all the benefits of a print subscription But then when I attempted to access the archives they told me the archive was only available to print subscribers A wasted purchase     Buyer Beware You DONT have access to archives
Its my favorite magazine but the app is weak It doesnt return to where you left it so you have to remember exactly where you were find the article and scroll down to the right spot Each and every time even if you leave it for a second to check an email or text It doesnt track reading history so there is no way to see what you have already read Therefore obviously it doesnt sync reading history across devices Font size is not adjustable The fantastic images and photos are not zoomable there is no way to get a closer look even when they are central to a story The app is locked to portrait orientation So For example a recent article about train travel had a map of the USA with train routes It was illegible because Its size was limited to the width of an iPhone screen no zooming no landscape view Scrolling slider is too finicky to use reliably There is no bookmarking highlighting or searching Even If the goal was to keep it like the paper version and ignore all the digital possibilities they failed At least with paper you can mark the page you were reading and pickup where you left off The app developers would do well to look at other news and magazine apps like the NYT which have already solved all these issues     Favorite magazine but app is weak
How such a long standing brilliant publication such as this could release such a less than mediocre app is beyond me If a modicum of oversight had been done by managementsurely this dreck of an app would have stayed beta Poor if impossible download performance along with no means of keeping your place should you hide or close the app makes this quite a frustrating experience I expect far more elegance and savvy from such a publisher     Great Content With Horrific Implemenation
I like the ability to navigate the magazine better with the New Yorker Also you cant adjust the font size as far as I can tell and I dont like the bigger font used in this app But I love having Harpers on my iPad Subscription should be cheaper since there is no paper involved but no one else seems to have caught onto that either              Clunky App Great Mag
The magazine is great but the app is awful Ive been a subscriber since 1984 and the content is amazing Unfortunately the app is cumbersome 5 stars for content and 1 star for navigation 3 stars overall           Great and awful
None of the functions of this app work as intended Downloading reading skipping pages finding where you left off etc Everything you could want to do in this app is either buggy and slow or not an option Love the magazine but they should kill this app and start over     Useless
The app will not permit the current issue to be downloaded Its been weeks but no fix has arrived     Broken App
Cannot download issues on my iPad It says downloading but nothing happens I just downloaded the newest version and I still cannot access the issues It still says downloading but nothing happens     Cannot download issues
I love the content of the app but I hate that their isnt an archive function I need all the space I can get on my phone           Love the content
I am thrilled that Harpers has finally developed a mobile application but from the outset I have been unable to login to my account to read full issues     Glitchy
Can only get white screen on iPad Works fine on iPhone Worked before update     harpers
I subscribe and would really prefer reading on the iPad but no The app doesnt recognize my address and I always remove the label that I assume has my account number because it blocks type on the cover Now the app hangs as soon as I open it and it get to admire a blank page They cant be serious     Horrible
Cannot download new issues has been saying the authentication system is not working Please try again later for months Used to work well but now its unusable     Worthless
Im a regular subscriber and recently 6 months ago started using the app Was initially happy with it however in past two months can barely use it goes blankwhite when you click between pages or crashes abruptly Terrible read the nyer app instead     App unusable blank
Id long hoped that text heavy magazines like Harpers would deliver experiences like this for the iPad and iPhone Im surprised it took this long I appreciate that this ties into my existing subscription too A couple of wrinkles 1 No control over font size I appreciate that its the same font as the printed magazine but I find it a little big and eyestraining on the iPad depending on the reading distance 2 The app doesnt seem to always remember my reading place inside the article But overall the fact that you get all of the magazines content without it being stuck in a merciless PDF style layout makes me happy              Almost the Harpers app Ive always wanted
Why do I need to log into the app each time I want to use it Why doesnt it remember me Every other publication I have many subscriptions has figured this out        Needs a lot of work
Update lost my login info Had to uninstall then reinstall        Didnt sync with print subscription
No opportunity to log in and enter subscriber info Only the option to buy a subscription which I already have     Cant access magazine
Any issue Each time Ive tried the download stops when its nearly finished Ive sent a support email to Harpers but it remains unanswered This is an incredibly poor experience Please fix this     Cannot download an issue
Great content great app Can now remove issues once youre finished with them                 Perfect
Cant delete previous downloads Have to uninstall and then reinstall app to remove content from my device Purchasing content through the web was better Time to retool     Great Magazine Poor App
While actually reading the digital magazine on my iPhone is rather straight forward getting new issues to download or deleting past issues is maddeningly difficult The controls arent easily available say if one wanted to switch between issues or download a new issue etc I may just stick to reading the hard copy        Not user friendly
Your magazine is an interesting one but the app is worst It gives you nightmares Pls fix it     Worst app
Percent of current Harpers issues available via the app 100 Percent of Harpers issues Ive been able to read through app 0 Number of pages in the last issue of Harpers I dont know I cant get the app to load Time spent in minutes trying to get the app to load an issue to download log in browse to back issues or read an issue 120 Harpers youve got a bit of egg on your face Its smeared all over the place and theres some yolk on your forehead too Please kill this embarrassing app License tech from Conde Naste They had some growing pains but their various apps are now quite useable This dear friends is not at all     Great magazine truly horrendous app
I have been booted off 10 times I cant download a back issue I love the magazine simply hate the app Please fix this immediately     App of pain
I love the content but the design etc was a little unpleasant If they make it like the Economist app I will subscribe for 1000 years Especially if they dictate the stories with a British accent           A little clunky
I love the magazine and enjoy the new app There should be a way to delete or undownloadso to speaka downloaded magazine This would be helpful in saving space on my device              Delete downloaded issues
Love the app on the iPad but I was waiting for an update that optimized the app for iPhone 6 Plus The text was way too big before Now you can control the font size I prefer smaller text which makes for a much more pleasant reading experience Also Im happy you can now remove issues youve read so you can free up space                 Finally A much needed update
I subscribed but I cant download issues Also the app crashes when I try to enter my personal info to get the print version     Cant download issues
Great to have a native Harpers app at last but it could use some work to make it minimally useful The font size is extremely large and cannot be adjusted at all This makes for difficult reading and excessive scrolling on both the iPad Air and the iPhone This is probably the apps most critical flaw The app also doesnt remember or bookmark where you are in the magazine There are other issues but these two really need to be addressed urgently     OK but STILL missing key features
This app is not difficult and has been done many times correctly by others Hire a consultant and fix it Please     Slow and sluggish
Weve been waiting so long and Im glad its at least readablebut its not a whole lot better than a PDF Very unresponsive design Wish all Newsstand apps were as good an implementation as The Magazine           I hope it gets better
App forgets my place when I return to continue reading Very annoying        Serious shortcoming
I always try to have reading material on hand and now its easier than ever having Harpers on my phone is a dream come true                 Harpers on the go
Love Harpers but not a fan of this app The hard to navigate aspect may be a result of the sluggishness I dont know where to touch and its so slow that when something happens Im not entirely sure how I made it work It also constantly asks me if Im a subscriber Yes Ive paid my money Why does this need to be constantly verified     sluggish and hard to navigate
Harpers is always a great read Dont know why other people have problems with this app Its perfectly functional for me                 One of my favorite magazines
I paid for a oneyear subscription eight months ago but cant download any issues Repeated emails to support unanswered Thats 2199 down the tubes and I cant get a refund Not cool Harpers What a ripoff     Cant download issues ripoff
Already a subscriber No option to log in     No login
Subscribed in Jan could not download issues and initially thought that it was space on my iPhone Upgraded to iPhone five and discovered that I still cannot download issues When I press download it says it is downloading but sits there interminably and I get no magazine You guys really need to hire new software developers Such a wonderful magazine and such a continually terrible app        Improved but downloads still a BIG PROBLEM
This app is junk Clunky freezes you have to navigate through too many screens to get to a back issue Then it freezes Disappointing to say the least     Junk
Harpers is by the far the best magazine but the app is leaves five stars worth of quality rating to be desired I gave it one star because I had to Ive been a Harpers subscriber for years and I was stoked when this app was first released as an iOS app so I could have any issue I wanted with me at all times But it is nothing more than a very basic high school programming project level reader Thats it No control over the display readability nor issues that have been read and could be deleted but cannot because whoever wrote this app thinks it needs to consume many hundreds and then thousands of megabytes in perpetuity or until the app is uninstalled installed again and I log in It has been this way since the app was first released and the poor quality of the app for all of the reasons I and many others have listed have been ignored by Harpers since its initial release     Improve The App
Its very surprising that this app is so clunky It freezes Requests signin every time I open it Pages disappear midread Response is so slow and navigation so confusing that its nearly impossible to actually enjoy the content Im canceling my subscription They should trash this app and start over Many others have figured it out so it shouldnt take that much effort I hope they do and then I will resubscribe     Content great app horrible
You cannot delete an issue without deleting the entire app Navigation is terrible What did they fix They say they were listening to us but there is no evidence of that in todays update     Still horrible
The iTunes Store description promises that if you buy this app you will get complete access to all the back issues of the online version on the website THIS IS TOTALLY FALSE If you go to the website it requires a password to access back issues No password come with this app So I called Harpers directly and they told me categorically that the iPad app does NOT give you access to the online version This is false advertising Were being ripped off here     BEWARE Shockingly false advertising
Wont download and has been a known issue for weeks Regret subscription     Terrible app
This is a very limited bare bones app for nonsubscribers Nonsubscribers can get access to very few articles and the articles never change from month to month so unless you activate a subscription there is very little reason to come back to the app This app really benefits subscribers and serves as a very good complementary to the print issue It also works well apart from the magazine providing you with access to current and past issues as well as the entire archive The content is respectable and insightful and the reading experience is in fine form It is easy to read from with a clear white background It is also easy to navigate section to section           Harpers Magazine
Long time subscriber to Harpers I was glad they released a digital version App is clean but really needs some work Delete issues downloaded and making navigation less erratic Sometimes articles will switch and jump for no apparent reason           App needs work
