GlucoSuccess is powered by Apple s new ResearchKit, allowing you to participate in a medical research study focused on Pre-Diabetes & Diabetes. Our study team at Massachusetts General Hospital hopes that this app will not ...
The concept of this app is great The fact that it can help with the study of diabetes and people who have it is also a good thing There are some flaws with the application though 1 I am unable to edit glucose readings I have accidentally hit the wrong button and been unable to change the reading Not only is this inconvenient but will also provide erroneous readings for the study 2 there is no one or no contact for support of the application 3 The lose it application is cumbersome and the food database isnt as good as other applications that I use I would like to only enter the data in one place for example my fitness pal I hope the application is updated and that the application designers actually take these concerns that Ive seen other users express and make this a better app to help not only the study but help those who use it           Noble but flawed
Apparently you cannot enter glucose numbers in the health app and have this app read them this is a deal breaker for me i like the health app and wont stop using it but im not going to enter these valued again in this app when it could simply read them from the health data     I am not willibg to enter glucose 2x
The idea is great however there are many bugs I can only enter one glucose reading per day The add function does not work Goofy results that dont make any sense I take Januvia however I cant add it to my meds In fact I cant make any changes to my meds I would have thought this to be basic and important to analyzing readings Like I saidthe idea is good however by the time they work out the bugs the study will be over and no good results will have been gathered Maybe year 2 will yield useful results if it is continued        Great potential but needs work
I found this app very useful and will continue using it                 Excellent
Glucosuccess is not taking data from the LoseIt app even when from inside Glucosuccess I enter LoseIt add food then arrow back into Glucosuccess I wish there was a contact phone number to help me troubleshoot Ive used LoseIt for a long time and have a premium membership Surely it doesnt require the free LoseIt membership for the two apps to communicate I love that data can be shared in this way I see tremendous potential for better medical understanding of diabetes type 2 and for me to understand my own situation I even find it motivating to improve my healthy behaviors Im reserving judgement on the app until Ive been using it a full week Maybe then all will become clear           Not interacting with LoseIt
Love everything about this however it does seem to be tracking any activity Just a big fat zero when I go to that section On a 5c Help              Not tracking any activity
Im glad that these type of research projects are being conducted with the opportunity for a large sample group My only confusion is in the collection of data for the listing of the Glucose Levels I am entering my levels after eating It does not specify for After Eating if it is immediately half hour one hour or two hours after eating Would be nice if there was some way to clarify this data entry with someone If not that if it could be indicated in that section Thanks for the project                 Access to Support for questions
I look forward to updates It gets different results on steps than Apples Health dashboard on steps It seems to miss my activity It is a shame that such a potentially important study is being based on grossly inaccurate data        Great idea but weak start
App is okay would be nice to be able to use MyFitnessPal instead of LoseIt for logging food           A good start
Love how they fail to clearly communicate that the is for type 2s until you get into the app I think type 2 needs to be named something else Seriously a different disease     No type 1 support
The app needs some instructions on how to make the Activity section work Its not connecting to my iPhone to pick up any activity              Activities
Its hard to believe people could leave poor reviews on something this important Maybe the dont have the personal experience with the illness Im a type 1 diabetic and so cant participate in this study However Im still excited that this raises awareness and provides professionals with more tools they can use to help make diabetes a more preventable and manageable illness This is something that should be encouraged so we can see more opportunities like this                 You shortsighted people
I have meter that syncs with my phone I have the data in Health This study uses Health but is not picking up my glucose readings Which results in zero participation If the study is going create more work for the participants their will not enough participation There is no way to contact the app developers        Health Kit Blood Glucose numbers
I believe Ive found a bug in the app but theres no contact information for support The website for the app doesnt contain any either Im surprised thats not a requirement for any app in the Apple App Store Here are steps to reproduce the bug 1 Open the app 2 Choose Profile 3 Choose Edit 4 Choose Height 5 Set your height and touch Done 6 Move to a different section of the app such as Learn and then move back to Profile 7 Notice that the number of inches in your height will be set to 0 This happens no matter how many times you change it back Ive basically rounded up and set my height that way but I would think for accuracy theyd want to fix this as it is a research study           Possible bug and no way to contact for support
I dont have my phone in a pocket all the time so this does not track my activity accurately especially since I walk in the swimming pool 3 times a week from 2060 minutes So for me that is not a true track of my movement or exercise Plus it is constantly freezing or slowwhen inputting information especially with Lose It so at times my nutritional information doesnt get logged or not completed for the day I have uninstalled and reinstalled both apps That doesnt help Frustrating              Activity
Im shocked to see that its only for type 2 diabetes patients I am a type 1 diabetic doctor and i think you just at least do the same for all the type 1 diabetic people out there     Diabetes
Awesome way to keep track of your daily habits and contributing to data that can help develop better treatments                 Great App
Nice app Might prove useful to me hope it proves useful for research Ill give it a whirl for a while I must say however that its going to irk me everyday that I answer the question about the daily foot check Each day the app will give me the option to choose I checked and found some problems so I seeked care Such usage does not inspire confidence to say the least Its not a textheavy app in the first place It causes one to wonder how rushed the developers were or how ignorant           Im not sure this is the app for which weve seeked
Calm down people If you read it does say it will help people manage their prediabetes and type 2 diabetes Thats why they have all those words there for you to read How can you give such lousy reviews for such a great cause How dare you And the reason for this app being geared towards prediabetes and type 2 diabetes is because these two diseases are preventable With time maybe they can help type 1 diabetics but they need the data from research to get there Thats why this is a research study You have the option not to download or consent to the study Dont get mad because you are not eligible Just be glad that they are trying other ways to help people with disease I think this is a brilliant idea since we all stay glued to our phones I was a prediabetic and was excited when I saw this But so what I cant participate I am thankful that they are trying to help our world Thank you guys Please continue to improve your app and get some good data so that we can understand more about diabetes Maybe one day it will be as simple as a vaccine for our future Who knows Thats the power of research Who wouldve thought polio would be virtually eradicated So people stop your crap with all the bad reviews And iTunes please continue to keep such an important app featured                 Whats the fuss
Totally different diseases this app just furthers the stereotype that all diabetics are fat and lazy     Type 2 Type 1
The app isnt designed for type 1 diabetics but this wasnt obvious based on both what was said in the apple conference or the generic app name leaving most if us to only realize this after its been downloaded and used It would be difficult for anyone with type 1 diabetes to somehow create our own app mainly because having type 1 diabetes does not make one a medical group which is pretty much a necessity for researchkit In addition having type 1 diabetes does also not inherently make one capable of iOS development Somehow believing type 1 diabetes instantly makes one a medical organization capable of writing an iOS app is pretty juvenile     About The Juvenile reference
I am a type one diabetic which means I can use this app I think that this research through this app for type 2 diabetes is good but I feel like it would benefit more people if you also add people who have type 1 to be able to participate which could help all people who have diabetes     Why just type 2 diabetes
There appears to be no help function available and little or no way to ask questions or provide narrative feedback I wanted to add two commonsense categories to my glucose log before exercise and after exercise Also I have read that logs must be completed on the same day Not realistic This app is a terrific idea Im sure it will get better           Great idea needs work
Could be a great app but it should include more trials And especially for Type 1 diabetes     Great idea but needs to include type 1
Great concept Worked well at first but after a few weeks of data entry got too slow to use The surveys are completely broken they hang before finishing losing all previous answers On the plus side it introduced me to Lose It which is excellent I hope Apple takes note and helps these guys fix their app It makes HealthKit look bad        Slow and buggy
Type 1s can moonlight as Type 2s to use the app I think the doctor who framed this study faces a data integrity problem With foresight the doctor could have allowed Type 1s to selfidentify and use the app Theyd get to enjoy the apps nice pattern matching And the doctor could easily identify the Type 2s for his research For now and unfortunately theres no way for the researcher to identify how many of his subjects are Type 1s moonlighting as Type 2s to enjoy the app So he faces a problem of spurious data in the research My guess is theyll alter the appconsent form to include Type 1s Theyll do this to protect the integrity of the research data I wish theyd done this from the beginning just to be nice to Type 1s and because it was the right thing to do Poor motives UI is onerous UI BenJPhotos critique is right Its not easy to put values in Its easier to put values in Apples Health App Even that needs an easier way Five stars if they include Type 1s AND find easier automatic ways to enter data Bluetooth synch Update Carb values I enter through Lose It or the Health app dont show up in GlucoSuccess Even though in Health I enabled ALLOW GLUCOSUCCESS TO READ DATA and write for all values Defect     Yes Type 1s CAN use it Difficult UI
Great ap but it needs work It want hold some data you type it in and when you go back its changed back to the example                 Awesome
Does not sync input to iHealth The activity step count does not work The developer needs to take charge and fix the roaches in this app that has such great potential        Fail
I really like the idea of participating in research that will help people but the app is not the same level of quality as other apps Running on iOS 83 on an iPhone 5s I get pretty frequent app crashes and lock ups Sometimes it doesnt record completed activities and other times while still keying in my blood glucose levels the entry screen says done and there is no way to correct mistakes Needs work           Great concept app needs work
On iPhone 6 plus Crashing when trying to input glucose values Anyone else with similar problem           App crashing
I want to participate in the study I want others to benefit from my experience I want to be a good participant However this app is so vexing that I feel like quitting the study First of all It takes multiple steps to do each task Entering my daily weight should be simple In this app I select weight measurement and Im taken to a screen that tells me to weigh myself at the same time each day I have to select get started even though Ive been doing this every day for the last six months Finally I can enter weight However instead of done I have a button labeled next This takes me to another screen that thanks me and informs me that my results will be visible in the dashboard Three steps to enter my weight I have another task I do that simply tells me to track my weight Two more screens for that Another two screens just to tell me to log my meals with the Loseit app These are daily tasks I have to do each day even though theyre meaningless Finally come the endless surveys I get the same surveys over and over again day after day For example theres a sleep survey that pops up almost two to three times per week Have you ever been diagnosed by a doctor that you have a sleeping disorder In the past month how many times did you feel tired all day You include the bugs the freezes and bugs and you have one annoying app And theres no one to report problems to Theres no contact info in the app or the developers website        I want to participate but
This is a easy takes 2 mins a day to send them my data The reviews that are less than 5 stars whats your problem Were so lucky Researchers are doing this for us                 Thanx Research Kit Mass Gen Hospital
People need to stop saying app is not for Type 1 Diabetics and giving it a bad review Thats like going to a Toyota dealership and saying what a let down they only had BMWs The app is for Type 2           Review
In some ways this is a great app Its small and does what it needs to do On the other hand it gets me angry every time I use it The biggest misfeature is that it does not send your blood glucose levels to the health app despite both sending and receiving lots of other information Nor does it retrieve your glucose levels from the health app if some other app has saved them there There is a check list of information to report every day but its ordering is funky Why not put the hours that you slept at the top of the list since its the first thing you know when you wake up When you visually check your feet for problems it should ask if you sought care for any issues not seeked it           Mixed feelings
I like the idea of contributing to research by tracking these things things Im already trying to track anyway And I really like the Dashboard and the way it seems to work to give you insights about what is affecting blood sugar levels Unfortunately the app doesnt actually work that well Entering information is awkward which makes me not want to do it And I have to set certain times that I check my blood sugar every day but theres no allowance for variations What if Im checking more often today because I ate something new or exercised more than normal And no offense but I cant stand having to use the Lose It app to track food I have tried a lot of foodtracking apps and thats the last one Id use Now I have to either switch to an app I dont like or do doubleentry on two apps Finally on day 2 of using this app its started crashing every time I try to enter a test result So now its just unusable Hopefully the people behind this study will release an update soon that addresses some of these issues        Nice ideas doesnt work
First I love the ResearchKit program But this app is deeply troubled The app has gotten less stable with updates It crashes regularly and is painfully slow and laggy when completing basic tasks The first version wasnt this bad Blood glucose readings arent recorded into the Health app even when the study app has permissible to do so Some of the occasional questions periodic quality of life questions are broken They sometimes stay on your task list well after youve finished Often the only right answer to a question is to skip it if you answered the previous a certain way but then it shows the task as incomplete Poorly designed Im also a little frustrated that I cant use my preferred meal logging app and have to use LoseIt which has an inferior food database I love the ResearchKit concept but this app needs a lot of work              Needs a lot of work
Nice v1 app but no way to tell developer that displayscharts are NOT correctly formatted on iPhone 6 Would think there would be a way to submit such input by a user IMHO           No way to contact support
Fantastic Very convenient for the research participant and the study The app is simple to use and extremely well designed                 A physicians take on GlucoSuccess
Sorry for my type 1 friends Hope they adjust it for you one day                 Its pretty good
This would be great if it worked better The worst part it doesnt share sync glucose level with the native apple health App Id think that would be a priority        Not syncing with Apple vice versa
There is a weekly check that comes up every day Kinda annoying No way to DM the devs so I have to leave feedback here Otherwise its a solid app and the mission is critical I use it daily and hope to see continual updates and improvements              Good app needs some tweaks
Whenever I try to Submit a glucose reading the app crashes Promising app but thats a really annoying and seemingly obvious defect     Crashes when Submitting Glucose Log Entry
Just wish it was for type 1        Good idea
Its an ok app its good for research but it does not track activity There is no support You have to use another app to track food Needs to be all in one and have support for type 1           Meh
I am disappointed that this app is only for type 2 diabetics What about type 1 There needs to be more apps and focus for people with Type 1     Not for Type 1 diabetics
I think this is a great idea and I like the app I especially like the section on the Dashboard that analyzes my diet and gives me Diet Insights food high in carbs and sugar This allows me to tweak my diet on a daily basis very helpful The main thing I dont like about the app is there is no support While setting up the app I indicated three glucose testing times not realizing it would require me to test daily at those times I do not test at the same time everyday so the app indicates I havent completed all of my tasks for the day I tried to edit my settings but it will not allow those settings to be changed I have searched but cannot find anyplace to contact GlucoSuccess for support Their website does not have any contact info at all There really needs to be someone to contact with questions              Great App No Support
Really This is a great idea however I think they could certainly collect more data if they opened their research to folks with T1        No Type 1 support
I hope the app is helping gather good data for the study but for participants it can be quite annoying I try to give all the info Ive been asked for but today Ive been asked to answer a 15 question Quality of Life Survey 6 times or it says I havent finished my tasks           Quite buggy
I dont know why developers do this sort of thing in a vacuum but it would be nice to have someone who actually uses apps to give input I thought with Apples involvement this would be better Listen if you want people to stick with your study make it easy for them Ill give you three things that disappointed me with only a few minutes of use 1 Youre dealing with folks who may have high blood sugars ya think Making them scroll one digit at a time from 120 to over 200 for some folks it could be twice as bad is frustrating Either allow them to scroll 100s 10s and 1s individually or just type in their reading 2 I cant enter data from yesterday I may be too tired or in my case too forgetful to enter data on the day its taken Either give me something that automates my readings and sends them to the iPhone in real time or allow data a day or two later 3 Lose It Thats the only option for tracking food intake I had Lose It on my phone before and deleted it in favor of better apps Tracking this stuff is the hardest thing for me anyway Someone needs to figure out a better way Ill keep trying because I think this concept for research is brilliant and have advocated for it for at least two years but I may eventually drop out if the user experience doesnt improve     Poorly executed
Quite disappointed this doesnt include type 1 diabetics I downloaded and was ready to sign consent The T1D community would be excellent candidates for medical research simply because one HAS to be very dedicated and detailed to manage their disease as in stay alive every single day for the rest of their lives They are a motivated bunch As a result of the disease and out of necessity so many T1D patients already tirelessly and tediously constantly analyze log so many factors that could serve the greater good for both T1 and T2 combined I do applaud the effort very groundbreaking I hope they include T1 in the future and wish success to the T2 candidates        None for Type 1
